Which would you suggest for vlogging and filming interviews with, the M50 or the Canon G7X?
Am I the only one that notices the Sony A6000 is a 1000x better (image quality) than the Canon M50? Is it some bad setting or something?
I like the settings of canon m50 which makes him look good and the exposure is really nice and bright unlike the sony its kinda dark.

personally for me canon looks more warm to the eye and sony feels sharp and dry (from my monitor). but unfortunately this video does not cover the low light situation which i guess sony is the absolute win

I just use my smartphone as a display and a adapter for audio then I can carry my phone about ten feet away before it starts getting laggy I can to make sure it's focusing and even get live audio to see if it is working

Yeah I used to not be much of a camera person, but after running this channel for over a year and a half I've become enamoured with them.

How is it in low light?
I hate my M50. It sucks for low-light. 4K is heavily cropped. And you can't get clean HDMI out if you want to use OBS.
If you're into vlogging, being a youtuber, that flip screen is a must!
I had a A5100, good camera, except it doesn't have a hotshoe to mount anything on, and no microphone port....
Time to switch to M50 then

Uhm the a6000 has a wireless remote mode you can use with your phone wirelessly. Gives full manual controls and tap to focus. All points in this video seems to play towards the Canon's strengths. Mic Jack is the only con.

And yes you can use the phone app but phone apps in my opinion are such a pain to work I generally don’t bother.

I just replaced my Nikon 1 for the M50 and I love it! I’ll be taking it to Japan with me next month!
Viltrox is suppose to be releasing a focal reducer/speed booster for ef to ef-m. That really opens up ef lens options for the full frame look on an M body. Plus we would have native auto focusing so there would be no issues there unlike ef to e-mount focal reducers/speed boosters currently on the market.

easy to use or image quality? wich one you need? m50 easy for vlogging, a6000 1000x good image quality for photography specialy for low light.

You guys can also get a shotgun mic to place on top of the a6000 to help with the audio problem. Makes it a lot better :)
Very well explained, just got the M50 and don't regret a cent. Used friend's Sony A6000 for a couple of videos, was too much of a hassle for a beginner like me.
Canon M50 is all too easy.....
I think that flip out screen is a big deal. Having an audio jack is also a big plus. Yes, I have recorded audio separately. Not a fan. One and done! You sold me. Thanks
Yeah I used to record audio separately and its not a huge deal but it is an extra pain that I'd prefer to not go through.

Nicely done video. Having owned the a6000 in the past, I will say I often had it overheat and shutdown on me while recording in 1080p 60p.
Ouch! Yeah thats one of the problems with Sony's, they fit such a huge sensor in such a small body it has an underdeveloped venting solution.
I need to connect the M50 to a power and don't want batteries. Can i do that? Is there a charging cable for the M50 that makes it don't need Batteries or change it every couple of hours.
I do very long recording thats why am asking. Please help me

I've used sony a6400 for work and it really is a pain setting up everything.
I'm now planning on getting M50 for my personal use over A6000 series.

I've just got an M50 - for a lot of the reasons you mention. The problem I am having to the extent I am thinking of returning it. I have the F4 11-22mm for the wide angle - but it's difficult to vlog with it well as it's a disaster inside and I have daylight rated bulbs!
At the moment I can't get it to work in a way that wouldn't mean needing to swtich lenses just because I'd walked into a store :)
Maybe I am doing something wrong. I realise you can the F2 22mm, etc, but it would make it challenging.
Note I know people who vlog with the 10mm-18mm and it works fine (not really dark, but relatively well lit stores) tests of M50 can't persuade me that would be the case.
most of your shots were overexposed. its hard to tell the differernce in imgge quality when all your shots are overexposed.

The advantage of Canon m50 is it has a flip screen
I think the main advantageous of EF-M vs Sony E mount are 22mm and 11-22mm lenses. They are so much cheaper than the equivalent Sony wide zoom and primes.

If you want 4k then you need the sonys with a monitor. Or a gh5 if you can work around the autofocus issue.
What's the difference between the Sony a7iii and the a7Riii - usage wise. Like why did you choose the 7iii over the 42mp a7Riii
You can now get the Sony A6100 for an extra $50, and that screen can flip around. I watched a 30 minute video comparing all 6 of the Sony A6 camera's.
Best choice for music recording and some sort of travel photo?

I went with a Sony a6300 about six months ago (upgraded from Canon t3i), and I go with the point it toward me and hope I'm in frame approach most of the time. For some more "in studio" type stuff I'll use my phone and the PlayMemories app to set up and monitor the shot.
Great video except for the Sony a6000 is over exposed in every shot. Is this because the camera has a slightly bigger sensor? Thanks for the insight on both cameras pros and cons!!👍🏻
It's actually the other way around. If any of the footage is overexposed it's the m50. That just comes from trying to match two cameras together.
You can always stop down the camera or use nd filters to make sure everything is exposed correctly.
I just use an adapter to get audio it only takes like 30 seconds to set up
The kit lens that comes with the A6000 is absolutely hell to work with. My friend had one that was constantly breaking and needed to be fixed. There's some plastic peice in it that is fragile as hell and just frustrating

I think the M50 is one of the best cameras on the market right now. And for vlogging it might be the best.

I dont know why I haven't tried a canon camera before except when I first started out I went the mirrorless route because I couldn't afford a 70d/80d and just started liking the other brands.
I’m stuck on what camera is best to get in looking at a canon 80D or the compact M50 ...I do beauty videos and vlog what’s best and can I add a lens that will blur background on the M50 xx
The M50 is basically a smaller 80d. They do basically the same exact thing. I prefer the M50 because its so much smaller and with the adapter you can get the exact same lenses on the M50.

I shoot allot of Stadium action Video. Some day, but mostly night with stadium lighting. I shoot both from ground level as well as skybox level. Which of the two do you recommend for this kind of shooting?

If you aren't really planning to take videos and just take photos which would be better? I was advised by a sales assistant that the canon one is faster but I was drawn to the screen of the sony one. I'll probably only take pictures while travelling .

And what about the low light performance? I saw some m50 videos with low light and it seems very useful for me, with all that noise in the images. Can you test that in some of your videos? Because if we could not use the camera at night, I don’t know if it’s worth buying

Yeah I think its really great, I love the Sony cameras, but for ease of use nothing comes close.

This wasn't as close as it could be. M50 wins and the extra $50 it costs is worth it considering you get that fully articulated screen and mic jack

A6000 with kit lens is for 585$ and m50 with kit lens and mount adapter is for 690$ here .

The thing that keeps me from using either camera from Sony and Canon is the darn 29 min 59 sec continuous recording limit. Not good if you are recording live events (ie. concerts and wedding ceremonies), especially for multicam coverage..
The A6000 is a 2014 camera but still very good for today. It's autofocus is awesome and if you think in a professional way the operator is always behind the camera, will use external monitor and external sound recording. The M50 is better for youtubers, this kind of comparisson is just good entertainment. I really like the A6000, and would be really good if it had picture profiles and mic jack but also for what I do I would pick the Canon M50.

Always depends on use. For video canon is sure winner but for stills, sony has the quality, if not better, and the big bang for the buck. I don't use video, why spend more on specs I don't use?
Thanks for this. Even though I am probably going to buy the M50, I think that the A6000 was sharper, and that it handled the extremes of sunlight and shadow much better than the M50.

Thanks for the review because I am a diehard Sony A6500 fan. The 5000 series was great just not good for stabilization but loved the flip up screen. That is where Canon makes their money 💰 in stability and vlog view capability. What frame rate do you render to for your final product? 24 or 30?
Great video! Thank you! But sadly that there's no A5100 in comparision which has a selfie touchscreen. What would you suggest between M50, A5100 or may be even M100? For newbie, primarily for photo of trips and family events, but for video as well (mostly of live shows). First camera but I look for a long perspective. Not going to buy the whole variety of lenses right away so kit lense will matter, but who knows what will be in the future. Selfie touchscreen is very important. The price difference of kits between M50 and A5100/M100 at the moment is about 175$. Previously in comparisions of A5100-M100 (and other Sony-Somebody) i liked Sony image quality much better, but in this video it's vv, so a bit confused. What about wireless remotes (not mobiles, but small one-button shutters) for both?
And what about battery lives for both (M50 and A5100) and did you try battery adapters which let camera work from the charger or powerbank directly?

was about to get the a6000 but since my friend just bought the a5000 and the menus and interface is horrible and plays badly with old glass I'm again on the canon wagon. I have to say that I own the canon 600d and the eos m, the m50 looks like their baby. can't wait to get one
Very good video. I guess many people are deciding right now between those two so do I ) Just came back from Best Buy and I tried both of them. My opinion M50 is much easier to use and I really loved the handling. a6000 feels like if someone gonna slightly push me I will drop it. M50 i can hold with one hand and take photos or videos. Flipping screen is so convenient even if many people say you don`t need it. Yes, you need it. I hate using my GO PRO through the phone to see if everything is good when you can just flip the screen and that`s it. And the video was much better. So in a week or 2 gonna have M50 if nothing else good pops out. Guys if you have any suggestions for a travel camera in the same price range, let me know )

My only downside for the m50 is the battery life. It’s worse than the a6000. That’s what I’ve researched. Have you tried it?

3:20 - what about streaming picture to the phone?
Also, about audio... you still need to record it with lav mic, so it's not really a big difference where you jack it in, BUT if you're using a separate recorder, you can monitor it more easily (not to saying, you don't need to worry about the lenght of the wire). Overall, A6000 can be MUCH MORE mobile, than m50 :). I've seen productions that recorded audio to the phone and it's the thing you have already, so not really a deal breaker.

I’ll most likely go with the M50 because I previously had a sony a6000 amazing camera but canon UI is easier to navigate the flip out screen is a plus & canon has cheaper lenses hands down unless you go with off brand companies you won’t be buying a sony lens every week or 2 i can promise that much unless you go with sigma as stated good lenses but the new digic 8 processor sounds interesting definitely going with m50 & Sony hasn’t dropped a firmware update for a6000 in a while.....

A6000 vs m50 which one batter ?
I will be using the camera for makeup videos so I need the camera to focus while I move away or closer to the camera and also to take pictures of my eyes like really close. I understand the three differences between the cameras are the flip screen, microphone jack and 4k video but today I went to see both cameras and the Sony’s image quality was crazy good for eye shots, just didn’t get to test the video but it had a 50mm lens while the Canon had a 45mm lens that didn’t seem to focus too well like my eyebrows, just my eyes. In the Sony, it focused my eye and everything around my eye so well. Idk much about cameras, can this be the lens? I’m so confused on what camera to buy.
That’s more of a lens thing then a camera thing. Lenses have a minimum focusing distance so that 50mm might have been a macro lens. The efm line does have a nice macro lens so the difference would be what features of the body itself do you need?
So you still suggest the M50 with a 50mm macro lens? The Sony had the 50mm lens it comes with, not sure if it was macro.
Also, the flipping screen does come in handy for selfies and making sure I am in focus. The microphone jack I can work around with the Sony A6000 but the flip screen is a con. The 4k for me is not that necessary since I will be indoor, not alot of action will take place. Just need good quality to catch attention.
i wish I had a camera even if I want I don't have the money to buy it. so I always just imagine to have one because taking capture to a memories is such a pleasure

Google the Sigma MC-11. Its just like a little lens you put on the camera first, its really easy to convert.
