Question of the Day ⚡ Which camera would you buy between the Canon M50 and Mark II? Let me know! 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼 **** Check out the Canon EOS M50 Mark II Mirrorless Digital Camera ➡️ amzn.to/36fU1iK
Mark II...obviously i wanted to buy the m50 but bcoz i still did not bought it yet will definately go for mark II was waiting for this review thanks guys..🔥🔥
Obviously the mark II... It's just so disappointing that they added literally nothing that couldn't have been added through a firmware update. Newer sensor, better screen, better evf, dp autofocus in 120p mode or 4k, clog... Anything that would have actually warranted a "Mark II"
I'm glad I got the M50 and was able to crank a few videos before this one came out, as I was also planning on waiting. There's nothing really new here that couldn't be added to the MK1 with a firmware update
Omg, can I just say how much I appreciate your chilled out, steady speech. So many UA-camrs talk so fast-pasted and loud that it literally gives me a headache and I have to turn off. That aside, great video.

For me the Mark II is a game-changer. I already have a Mark I which is great value and perfect for my studio UA-cam vids but the lack of vertical video makes it horrible to use for Instagram. Gonna get a second M50 (II) I'll setup both simultaneously shooting at different angles for UA-cam vids and use the Mark II for IGTV. Live streaming will also be great. You didn't mention the vertical vid capability.
The only reason it sounds like to buy the mark ii is if you're looking at buying strictly brand new and have the money. Everything else (upgrading, buying cheap, etc) sounds like it's better just to stick to the mark i
I would pick the m50ii for its added features of clean hdmi out, livestreaming and connect to zoom as a quality zoom camera, or using for vlogging. Worth the upgrade if a person actually needs that or wants it for vlogging.
I've been using the M50 as a webcam with a USB cable on both my MacBook and PC for months. Much easier than using a capture card and the quality is incredible compared to a regular webcam

No fix, so no upgrade for me. Thanks Think Media for the video review, much appreciated!
@@JVJF7 Even with the 3 things I mentioned in my comment, I still recommend the M50. You just learn to work within its limitations. Unless you're willing to pay an extra $1,500.00 or so for an R6 full-frame mirrorless camera upgrade.

I am happy with my decision since I get so many cheap lenses. I will never sell any of it, I am totally in love.
Answered all my questions thank you. One thing though, and I say this to all reviewers. Why use the term beginner camera. It’s not. It’s for amateurs or enthusiasts. Beginner always sounds like the reviewer is saying it’s an OK camera for everyone else but not for me, as I’m too good for it. Great channel though.
It's a bit late but Iv'e had the M50 M1 for a few years now and can tell you about some flaws. with a mike cable input you can't rotate the screen with out pulling the cable out. there is no volume progress bars for left and right on the screen when recording in 4K so you have no idea of the audio or volume. The IR beam on the front of the body is in the wrong place, it gets blocked some times by holding the camera, this causes blurred photos or a failed shot. You can't hot swap batteries with out removing from the tripod. the lens cap on the included lens falls off unexpectedly. the built in flash if you use it has to be manually raised which is awkward when your in a hurry to get the shot. I think the biggest piss off is no volume on the screen, some times I've had to do several takes because I didn't know that there was no audio until it was played back. I use the Saramonic Blink 500 mike kit with the twin transmitters. Tony from Australia
I am sure being a year old by now you know, that the MK1 can do clean HDMI via a "hack" simply using the USB cable to connect to the remote shooting software, and turning off the on screen info gives you clean output. I have been doing this for the last few videos I created. But now that this camera is tied to my desk with 3 cables (power, usb, and hdmi) I don't really have a camera to take around to film. So honestly torn between getting another M50 since I am used to it, and have some lens already. Or upgrade to something else. I want to get the Cannon R5C, so can't decide save that $400 for that, or spend the $400 now so I have something until I can get the R5C.
I would have considered replacing my M50 with the M50 ii had they removed the crop in 4K mode, or at least had maintained the autofocus abilities in both HD and 4K.
there is a speedbooster which is also a efs-to-efm adapter that negates the crop. Todd Dominey has a video about that subject. edit: not ALL lenses fit with that speedbooster. the 10-18mm EF-S lens for example, would not fit.
I just purchased the Mark ii May 2023 to celebrate reaching 10,000 Subscribers and being monetized for a year ! I’m excited to see the content we create 🎉🎉
Seeing a few 4K TV/monitors are in people's homes, I wouldn't worry too much about creating 4K content. 1080 is what has been selling for years and now for less than $250 for a 30"+ set. Given a Nikon body only is $1500 and with Z lens runs $2300 and UP. Too much for a beginners camera IMHO.
Just to clarify: the first M50 could do clean HDMI out, except you would have to turn off autofocus. Definitely not amazing, but still capable if you don't intend to move around much.
I like all features of Canon m50 Mark ii. But only one feature is not super slow motion at 1080p. I want super slow motion camera at 1080p. Which is best for me? Please suggest to me.
I'd switch to a refurbished M50 Mark i if i had to switch to either one of these two. The differences are not worth the bug price difference imo. Considering I'm coming from a D3100, the M50 alone is enough of an upgrade for me. And i will be using it as a webcam, and i will be happy with having to use it via usb as the quality would still be miles better than the 0.3mp webcam I've got on my laptop.
I have the Mark I. Love it and there's not enough in the Mark II to make me want to upgrade. If I was looking to buy my first M50 I would go with the Mark II if the price tag wasn't an issue. Either way you can't go wrong with either. My concern is that Canon could possibly discontinue the EF-M line in favor of the R and that wold be a shame.
I recently started my channel with the m50 & I have zero reasons to upgrade to the mark ii. However if i didn't own a camera and was looking to buy one then i think the m50 mark ii is amazing value for money and the best choice in this price range just like the original m50...
Have u been able to live stream with the m50 mark 2? I'm trying to but I'm stuck...I followed the steps and set up to where I see live streaming in the camera but it's give a failed message
Unfortunately, the Canon M6 Mark II had not yet been released when my daughter got her M50. She has been attempting to create UA-cam videos and frankly, it suxs. I would like to say, buy the M6, and forget about all the issues you will encounter with the M50. The M50 was a great camera for a year or two. But when you discover all the shortcomings and adjustment settings required to make it work...too many hassles. Thank you for the kind review between the M50 version 1 and version 2. However, Canon now appears to be switching gears to the R50 or "R" Line. Don't expect much support or Love from Canon for the EF-M line to be around much longer. It is a competitive camera market, a professional will easily spend $5,000 for a basic startup. When your startup is small and rather inexpensive, don't count on getting great results as you'll just have to work with what you have and can afford. Nobody said you had to keep up with the Joneses or wealthy folks. It all takes time, strategy, goals, and money! Plan well, and save your piggy bank $$$$ before dishing out the bacon strips.$-$-$-$-$.
I am really disappointed with the mk2 version. This is nothing more than a firmware update to the mk1. This should be a free or low cost upgrade for mk1 users. So if I understand correctly, the main advantage of the mk2 is the ability to not use Canon's Webcam software. BFD As far as the refurbs go, Cannon has raised the price of them. Throughout Spring and Summer they were $425 with free shipping and dropped down to a low of $350. This is with a lens. I should have bought it then but I got caught up in the hype of the mk2 and all the new features it was supposed to have. Hopefully there will be some Black Friday deals.
Yea probably true, however, I look at it as fair upgrade. Every other brand releases the “new” version that makes you hate your current one..in the world of actual M50 users, everyone’s happy
i've been debating for a few weeks now about investing in this camera, and i'm quite convinced to get it! Thanks for this. Also the pics you shot for daughter are adorable! I plan on doing baby shots for my nephew end of this year💡
Hey im planning to gift a camera to my sister for talking pics of her new 1 month a old baby. So did you end up buying the camera? is it worth it? I would like to know your review of this camera. I donot know anything about dslr camera. A dumb question i need to ask you. Are iphone cameras better than m50 camera 😂?. Im eagerly waiting for your reply
@@irfanmohd091 soo I DID end up buying the m50 and honestly its not bad of camera. It does the job just well! i did a photoshoot 2 weeks with this chick and the pics cam out pretty dope. The only flaw i could really point out is the battery life. Not the best imo, i think my old dslr can last a bit longer but then again everything including the screen is more digitized you know what i mean? And i think the iphone MAX cameras are the same if not a little better than a M50. Overall tho i think the cam was worth buying. Also too i was pretty upset when i found i couldnt use my favorite nifty 50 lens on it bc i need to add an adapter. which of courrrse costs around 100 bucks :/
Great video Omar. I have the M50 Mk1 and still having a blast using it. I’m surprised they didn’t consider dropping the 30min record limit on the Mk2 as that’s a frustrating feature I didn’t think would come to niggle me after purchase. I also have the 50mm and adapter, that’s a brilliant addition too. Peace! Paul G 😎
I'm thinking of getting the Canon M50 to start filming on UA-cam - the Mark II is around $200 more than a new Canon M50 but we don't have refurbished M50s for sale here. Would you recommend getting the M50 and spending the extra $200 on a 22mm lens (flor vlogging) instead?
This feels like a Version 1.1 of the M50. Looks like a firmware update is all that this camera has rather than anything "new" to be honest. I'd love to know if there is anything in the hardware of the M50 Mark II that the M50 itself doesn't have that it couldn't have these same features with just a firmware update. Also, I'd also love to know if the electronic level display bug is fixed where it can display if you're using face tracking as opposed to Zone tracking as your autofocus mode.
I literally bought my M50 2 months ago... I hope this video doesn't make me replace it... Edit: Clean HDMI was the thing I was most upset about... one of the major things I bought this camera for was for livestreaming on Twitch... and was super disappointed that I had to turn off AF if I wanted to use HDMI+capture card... also the record button on the screen is super helpful, as I've failed to click the record button at the right time because I couldn't see it (only barely feel it)... God dang it... now I wish I had the Mk II...
Thanks a lot for the comparison. I’ve ordered M50 without knowing there is Mark II out there, so I needed to understand whether it’s worth returning it back and having it replaced by a newer model. The answer is no. Thanks a lot for the video!
I had the M50 for about 6 months. I used the viltrox speed booster. Which gives you almost a full frame image. Anyways I sold it and bought the Canon 80d which I like a lot better. I know shoot with a Canon EOS R and I just preorder the Canon EOS R5.. but until the R5 gets here, I just picked up a can of 90d from a buddy of mine for $500! That camera is a beast for wildlife! I use the sigma contemporary 150 to 600 mm with that Canon 90d. Oh my God I can reach out to 960 mm and get super clean images!
Baby photoshoot pictures were cute AF. Your daughter's adorable and the mickey mouse hat is awesome. I think I had a hat like that when I was a child. Thanks for making this comparison video. I just got an M50 but I don't live stream so I feel safe with my purchase.
I don't live stream either and I am thinking on buying the M50, however I don't know if I should get the Mark 1 or two. To edit I use a mac and I just can not decide wether to get the Mark 1 or 2.
So one of the things I was curious about, but is a bit of a niche question, is about the standby cut off. Does the mark ii cut off the display after 30 min?
About to sell my M50 Mark I, because of the massive limitations with live streaming. I don't wanna move to sony because of the Canon Lenses I have. But it's really tough.
In 2022 I got my Mk1 for under £300 on Wex with Good condition which is good enough, paired with Canon's 18-150mm lens from MPB for under £300 again. Total ≈ £540.
what happens if you put the kit lens and the viltrox speed booster? does it make the shot wide for vlogging or content creating?? really keen in buying the m 50 mark 2 but dont want to buy more lenses.
what about the canon eos m6? not the new one mark ll .. the older one! I know it's kind of old but I find a super good deal and I have to get a vlog and compact camera but not too expensive!! Thank you!!!!
The canon m50 mark i is currently on sale at B&H for 550 including a rode mic and sd card. While the mark ii is selling for 650 with the kit lens. In your opinion, with a difference of 100 and without a mic, which deal is better? Im thinking of buying my first camera and I'm stuck between each one
No it's not worth it. Check their response: Dear Jared Stevenson, Thank you for writing to us. My name is Eric and I understand you have questions about the EOS M50 and I can assist. The EOS M50 and EOS M50 Mark II are built with different sensors and different processors which allow for different features. Features from the EOS M50 Mark II can not be added to the EOS M50 via a firmware update as the internal hardware structures of the camera are very different and do not support the same functions. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance. Thank you for choosing Canon. ...Sounds like lies to me!
I’ve been stuck between the Nikon D5600 and M50 mark II. Price doesn’t matter to me. I mainly focus on photography. Is there really a big difference between these two cameras that I should take into consideration?
It seems Canon has made it possible to put out a clean HDMI on the mark ll. So it seems rather than providing a firmware update on the M50, they released the mark ll instead. That's pretty cold to all it's loyal Canon users. In the Mark ll it's in the camera menu. Since Canon is not helping us, is there any way to get a clean HDMI from the Canon M50?
How do I connect my Canon M50 to my atem mini pro video switcher? When I connect my micro hdmi to the camera and the hdmi end to the stem video switcher I do not get a fees. Any thoughts?
Hmm, I have an M-50 I bought in 2020 that has a Micro HDMI out. By the way, used M.50´s have gone up in price. I bought my M-50 new in 2020 for 500€ new with the kit lens, etc. Most of the used M-50´s I´ve priced recently are around 600-650€ with the kit lens. I lucked out, and bought a new one today on eBay for 386€.

Just bought my M50 Mark 2 on Wednesday, my first camera so excited
Nice, Kelsey. I think I’m gonna get one soon too. Been used to Nikon but have fallen in love with these Canon’s as of late. What do you?
congrats!
Is it worth it?
Just to clarify: the first M50 could do clean HDMI out, except you would have to turn off autofocus. Definitely not amazing, but still capable if you don't intend to move around much.
just press 'info' a couple of times ;)
Discontinue confirmed
I recently started my channel with the m50 & I have zero reasons to upgrade to the mark ii. However if i didn't own a camera and was looking to buy one then i think the m50 mark ii is amazing value for money and the best choice in this price range just like the original m50...
I love my M50. I would just go with the first one.
Tell me Canon m50 or m50 mark 2 which I will buy
Definitely want the mark II now. Thanks for the video.
Have u been able to live stream with the m50 mark 2? I'm trying to but I'm stuck...I followed the steps and set up to where I see live streaming in the camera but it's give a failed message
I really need this camera for my vlog, hope some day i can buy,,
I just ordered the refurbished white M50 via your link!! I'm so excited to get this camera for video :) Thanks so much!
I have both now .❤ This was a good breakdown in differences .
BFD
As far as the refurbs go, Cannon has raised the price of them.
Every other brand releases the “new” version that makes you hate your current one..in the world of actual M50 users, everyone’s happy
ya same
M50 also can use webcam driver.
5 months after this was posted...I just purchased the m50 creator kit: includes basic mic and second lens for the same price as the mark ii.
From where
i've been debating for a few weeks now about investing in this camera, and i'm quite convinced to get it!
Also too i was pretty upset when i found i couldnt use my favorite nifty 50 lens on it bc i need to add an adapter. which of courrrse costs around 100 bucks :/
the baby focus test was my fave part of this
10/10 solid test. Liked subd
Peace!
Paul G 😎
It limits the recording time?! Is this a setting or because the battery runs out?
I'm thinking of getting the Canon M50 to start filming on UA-cam - the Mark II is around $200 more than a new Canon M50 but we don't have refurbished M50s for sale here. Would you recommend getting the M50 and spending the extra $200 on a 22mm lens (flor vlogging) instead?
I just realized you uploaded this video on my birthday!
Great Video! btw your t-shirt was inside-out @6:01
Good eye !
I just bought the Canon M50 on October 23rd, I haven’t used yet. I will be going tomorrow to B&H so they can set up for me on video mode.
11-22mm.. Fantastic lens for content creation
Lovely photos. Great review, thanks
I just picked up an m50 super cheap. Im excited to have something smaller than my 6dii for an everyday carry and maybe dabble in some video.
Whats the brand name of the capture card please? because it's not on the link you shared. thanks.
This is the camera I’m going to be purchasing soon. Thank you for the review!
Thanks for the review. The link to the Cheap Capture Card does not work. What's the name on the unit so we can search for it?
With the Mark II out, it's hard to find a new Mark 1 around.
Super chill video. Thanks for the info.
I'm still rocking the M50, it has entry level 4k cropped but at least it has 4k feature.
Hi
Thanks for the info.
Could you please do a video of how M50 Mark ii performs as a camera for green screen video.
Thanks
Currently, I already use Canon M50 to make videos for my channel, It is a pretty good camera.
I would love to have a canon M50 But i am stil saving up money
Nice comparison. Thanks for this!
Go with the M6 ii body if you can - the display shuts off on the flip out screen but gives the hdmi a continuous output
For the m50 ii
I love having these honest reviews on these cameras. Of course, I'm just shooting YT videos on my iPhone right now.
Best way to get started!
from a photographer perspective, is it worth it to buy the M50 mark ii or M50?
I am planning to buy a mirrorles camera at the end of this year
In 2022 I got my Mk1 for under £300 on Wex with Good condition which is good enough, paired with Canon's 18-150mm lens from MPB for under £300 again. Total ≈ £540.
what happens if you put the kit lens and the viltrox speed booster? does it make the shot wide for vlogging or content creating?? really keen in buying the m 50 mark 2 but dont want to buy more lenses.
At around 6:00 you mentioned at 1080p the Mark I lost autofocus. Is that fixed in the Mark II?
Definately need to buy one of these if I am to go all in with my videos!
Thank mate! I've been watching your videos for hours and looks like im going with the m50 ii!
what about the canon eos m6? not the new one mark ll .. the older one! I know it's kind of old but I find a super good deal and I have to get a vlog and compact camera but not too expensive!! Thank you!!!!
Ive been waiting for this camera!!!
I’m saving up for it
@@jdel3732 Hell yeah!!!
how abt Fujifilm, XT200? should i go for Fujifilm, XT200 ? as first time camera user !
I am thinking of buying the canon m50 mark ll,so should I?
Yes!
Nah . Get a refurbished m50 for cheap bro
Sir please make a comparison video on nikon z50 vs sony a6400. Confused about what to buy.
Guys, would this camera be good with my Macbook Pro and Blackmagic studio for my zoom streams? This seems like it’d be perfect
Yes the Mark ii for live-streaming
Thank you, Omar!!! Appreciate you! 🤘🏽
Check their response:
Dear Jared Stevenson,
Thank you for writing to us.
I’m having the same dilemma right now. Which did you end up getting? And do you recommend?
It seems Canon has made it possible to put out a clean HDMI on the mark ll. So it seems rather than providing a firmware update on the M50, they released the mark ll instead. That's pretty cold to all it's loyal Canon users. In the Mark ll it's in the camera menu. Since Canon is not helping us, is there any way to get a clean HDMI from the Canon M50?
Thanks for a positive video on the Canon M50 Mark II. It is my first digital camera and I am excited! Great feedback.
If there is no physical difference, how does one distinguish the Mark ii when buying a used camera?
Just started my channel this year I'm using my iPhone
U really inspired me
This helps so much as i bought a the wrong sigma lens and it’s specifically ef-m
Thanks for the info! I will look to this idea in the future. Precious 2yr old pics!!
This was so helpful! I have had my eye on the M50 for a while.
SIr , could you please assist canon eos 50 mark 2 live stream without laptop / desktop
I HAVE TWO but how do I tell the difference between the Mark1 and the Mark 2? I THOUGHT I had two Mark 2's but one has a different color menu.
Thanks for your video. It helped me a lot in choosing what to buy.
Love 💕 canon Mark II
The only feature I see missing is IBS but from what I’m understanding is that you can buy a lense that will create IBS. Is this accurate? I’m new to cameras. Thanks. Feed back from anyone will be helpful
What is the brand name of the HDMI video capture device mentioned in the video? The link is no good. Thx!
I'm just gonna keep saving up and buy the Canon Eos R6 :)
Thank you for this!! Can you tell me if the M50 MKII still has a 30 minute power off? Does it still stop recording after 30 minutes?
Yes
i bought a lot of accessories for m50 but does the JOBY GorillaPod 3K Kit work on the m50 mark 2?
I plan on doing UA-cam videos as well as movies, would the m50 mark II or canon SL3 be best?
Thanks
Does the M50 mk2 still have the 30 min recording/screentime limit?
