    The answer is DNA! I'm currently located on a situation like yours but without the X-ray knowledge you have because of your college. I don't believe on the 10K hours theory but I think that practicing without a goal can still help you because of muscular memory, which would be one of my main goals to achieve becoming an art god.

    Another great video Massa. Jake Parker has a video on the 10000 hour rule asking instead for 10000 focused minutes which is much more feasible. I am having trouble with the riddle but I wish everyone else good luck on it.

    My view on this concept is very different from yours. I never thought of the 10,000 hours rule as a time frame you should achieve, as if after the 10,000th hour you start to glow and evolves into a master of the thing you are practicing. I view it as an advice that basically tells you that mastering something takes time and effort. It's not easy to practice 10,000 hours of something it takes effort, its hard. I never thought about it as a concrete period you should strive for. I like to thing that someone asked a master at x and how to be like him and he replied that you need to practice 10,000 hours, is like a parable or a teaching.
    Great video as always.

    • @massa_art
      @massa_art  День тому +1

      the way you describe how you interpreted the 10,000 hours rule is much more healthy and useful in practice for sure. There is no getting away from hard work and effort.
      I think its important that people know that the research paper about the 10,000 hours does not have a valid conclusion despite it becoming so popular. I guess that was the intention of the video at the start but then i got lost in my drawings 😅

    • @lonestarr1490

      I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the 10.000 hours rule originates from China or Japan. Because both languages also use their respective word for "10.000" idiomatically to mean, "an awful lot of sth". So when they say "10.000", it could but doesn't necessarily have to mean exactly 10.000, but could also mean, "so much that nobody would bother to count it".

    • @SaHaRaSquad
      @SaHaRaSquad 17 годин тому

      @@lonestarr1490 Fun fact, the "10.000 steps per day" thing supposedly does come from Japan, where the first step counter on the market could count up to 9999, so people made it a challenge to max it out each day.

    • @massa_art
      @massa_art  7 годин тому

      @@lonestarr1490 It’s not the case for the 10,000 hours rule, but that’s so interesting-I didn’t know!
      The 10,000 hours rule comes from a 1993 study by psychologist Anders Ericsson in Germany. The study looked at violinists at the Berlin Academy of Music and found that the best violinists had accumulated around 10,000 hours of practice by the age of 20.

    This was a really interesting watch, I really enjoyed it. Something I was catching on, trying to find a scientific or mathematical or hour measurement to become a god, but gods are the only things you can't explain with math or science. God's are a belief from a collection of people, they do things only they can. You have an eye for backgrounds and for magnificent precision of massive shapes, and even complex mechanisms, I think you could create some spectacular things from that. Hopefully you'd find more joy in it since you'd be doing it for yourself. I think the path to becoming an art god is collecting all the many things you've experienced in your life, from people, passions, to stories, events, work, anything you've ever seen, and creating things that nobody ever could out of that combination. You're the only person on earth that's lived your life, finding a way to express that and expressing it so well that people line up to see it, that's what makes you live through your work and become a God.
    There's also something to be said of community. The great struggle nowadays is hanging casually with the homies drawing around. Having people around to draw with and challenge each other and inspire each other can do amazing things with our creativity. I remember having so much fun just having stick figure fights with my friends, trying to come up with cool action scenes together. I have a more natural eye for fight scene flow because of that. Collaboration is extremely important to a robust mind, a robust mind has more experiences to pull from when creating, and art is a social hobby. I may try and start a meetup group, hang out at a local bar or park on Fridays and just draw whatever for a while. Draw the people around you, draw anything on your mind, draw a dog you see, everybody just chatting and drawing, that'd be fun. That could be a great catalyst.
    If it's more about becoming a badass artist that can draw anything, we're fortunate in this age we have such great access to interviews from art gods and get their processes from them directly. Kim Jung Gi is always who I look to for inspiration on this. There's a metric ton of doodling that we're not aware of that hes doing. Just expressed in the quickest form, you can practice a whole scene a thousand different ways before picking one, all the experience from the roughs adds up. Must embrace the doodle. Another catalyst, having fun on the page.

      This is beautifully written and there’s quite a few good tips and insights in there. I hope everyone reads it!
      The “social hobby” part hits home for me, not because i understand it, but because i wished i had it, all my life i’ve been the only one who’s into drawing from the people around me. Except my mom! 😅

      @@massa_art The struggle is realllll, I feel that. These days, none of my friends even like looking at art, drives me bananas. I'm starting to think that's going to be one of those "get out of the comfort zone" moments. If you build it, they will come.
      I wish you well on your journey
