  • On special occasions, Grandma Zimmern would make my favorite salmon-tomato aspic recipe. Now this kind of dish is old-school in every sense, but I swear it is making a comeback, and you should get on the bandwagon before you are labeled a culinary poseur by all of your friends.

Your grandmother always loved and accepted you and knows all of the things you went through helped make you the kind and loving person you are today. She loves that you honor her memory by sharing her recipes and never stopped being proud of you, but I think you know that. I can't wait to make this dish! It reminds me of my late grandma with whom I also had a complicated relationship.

hard to believe you didn't unmold and slice the large one so we could see what it looked like congealed ... even slicing the small one woulda been nice, we're left to guess what it might or might not look like, always a good place to end a cooking video

i tried making this but didn't have salmon. So i used ground beef instead. I didn't have much of the other ingredients as well so i used taco seasoning and cheese. To dress it up, i served it in taco shells. My hubby never liked Salmon-Tomato Aspic before, but after i made it using this recipe with some substitutions, he now asks for it all the time!! the kids love it too
