Howdy folks, I thought I show you how to repair some damaged concrete in five minutes.
Surprise, the mud my brother Lou mixed with accelerators was supposed to set in five, making this a very short video.
But instead, the mud would not set until 40 minutes, thus this long, drawn-out video. With me rambling to kill time as within the first five minutes, I knew from experience it would take 40 minutes for this to set hard.
Thus I didn't finish it as that would have taken too long.
The idea was this is how stucco coverage works.
If you're pondering the question, why do concrete stairs crack? The rain causes uplifting, which translates into vibrations; vibrations with concert stairs or stucco walls are like kryptonite to Superman, not good.
• Replicating stones wit... Match decretive blocks with cement stucco.
• Stucco concrete retain... Stucco over cement concrete retaining walls.
• Bad stucco patches, ho... Fix ugly patches in your walls.

Thank you all for watching, and have a wonderful and exciting day!
Literally the best UA-cam channel…. He is the nicest person to watch, always talks about how the viewer can fix it themselves and how they can do it properly while giving tips on how to save money while doing it. Giving those tips out does no favors for him other than losing business but he still does it, that’s a real genuine person!! I’ll be sad when you stop posting videos
Howdy ZZ top, thank you. I have at least another year in me before I become worm food. 💀
@@StuccoPlastering you’re immortal, you’ll never be worm food.
@@et465 LOL, I like your style, thank you. 🥳
@@StuccoPlastering my pleasure! Live long and plaster!
I'll bet he gains business!
Such a good guy, but Lou has a point. Me, I’m the guy that offers the use of the bathroom, coffee in the morning and something cold to drink when it’s hot. As a kid I would go on jobs with my dad and he was a true tradesman and everyone had their job done correctly, but I noticed that people that treated you nicely or offered you a drink would have my dad going over the top and take care of other issues for no charge. It’s always worked for me when I have the trades do work for me. The Giordano family are quality people.
Morning Kevin, such is life, I had my share of, "while you're here," but as a rule, we always leave a job cleaner than we found it. It's a habit so we don't mind, the old, "while you're here" in fact we find it amusing. 🍻
Excellent comment, thanks for posting !
That is how many of us make a living.
Captin Kirk is the man, And funny as hell too! 🤣 I learned more watching this videos about different products and uses!
Howdy Marc, cool beans, Daddieo.🥳
Nice job Kirk! You get to showcase the repair and the homeowners get the fine Giordano family’s signature on their retaining wall.
My friend came from Italy at 16 and brought many sayings with him, one of them is “Do good and forget” Fixing this wall was a great way to show that, it was quick, it was free and they will always remember you when they look at it all nice and blemish free.
Morning Clint, or maybe they will think like my brother, and say, man, now I got to paint that. 😉
@@StuccoPlastering Since Lou is so observant and kind hand him paint and a brush and let him finish the job once it’s fully cured. Have an amazing Sunday Kirk!
Thanks for the vídeo Kirk .
God bless you!
😊🤗🤗
Morning Juan, thank you, my friend. 💃🏻
The Best of the BEST of the BEST!
Howdy Jan you're spoiling me, thank you.
Thanks again Kirk, you make it look so easy my brother. God bless you and your beautiful family 🙏🏾
Morning Eric, thank you, my brother, Cheers.🍻
Thanks Kirk and Jay!
No problemo.
Great. Tks. Just what I needed to know for a DIY fix of a retaining wall in San Diego.
Howdy my friend, happy to be of assistance, thus, happy as a hippo. ua-cam.com/video/uhOzaH0GbEg/v-deo.html/ 💃🏻
I would be grateful that you fixed it for me Kirk! Thanks again for another awesome video!!!
Howdy Fred, I think that's the response of the average person, except for my brother Luuuu. 🤔
Looks a great day love watching you guys keep it up kirk and Co =]
Mac Daddy Plastering, thank you, it's always nice to hear from our fellow plasterers. 🍺
really been enjoying the videos! just wish i would have watched them before i made the repairs on my stucco house a few days ago. great expertise
Howdy storage Dude, we do show while explaining how to repair boo boo's too. 🐻
@@StuccoPlastering thank you so much for sharing your knowledge

Awesome as usual Kirk, love your work
Hola South Dude, thank you. 🥳
Kirk!!! I miss ya man.
Morning friend, I'm still here. 🤔
Good job kirk 👍🇺🇸✝️
Howdy Larry, thank you, my friend. 👍
I think I would freak out if I came home and found someone fixing anything on my house and like Lou said, now I have to paint it. Crazy.......
I doubt you will ever have this problem.
I can'y help but wonder if this problem is referring to the broken steps or to finding someone doing repairs to my home.I do have cement work to do at my house, that's why I was watching your video@@StuccoPlastering
Quick corners, nice
Howdy Dosio, thank you. 💃🏻
you are the best👌
Howdy my friend; thank you for that positive comment. Cheers. 💃🏻
Jigsaw puzzle lol
Mac Daddy, it kinda was; I should have just glued it back together for a questionnaire. Folks would have then stopped and rubbed their head and thought, what the hell? 🤕
Perfect timing, Im doing this on my house this spring. What would you use to paint it; regular exterior latex? exterior masonry paint? drylok? thorocoat (ie; a waterproof acrylic coating)?
Many thanks for all your awesome videos.
Howdy Pet Dude, any of these primes and paints would do. 👨🏻🔬
Awesome!
Just happens onto your content and was wondering how to get the rough heavy texture they put on houses back in the late 1800 early 1900s? Every thing I see you repair looks fairly flat unlike my house
Thanks
Steve
Evening Steve; type your question into our channel, and like magic, a video will appear to show while explaining how to achieve any finish.😉
Love the videos Kirk, thank you so much, it has helped me greatly as I work on my own 1905 Craftsman house in Oakland. The pool trowel you listed a while back (Bon Tool 12-904) doesn't seem to be available any more. Can you recommend any other pool trowels with the semi-rounded ends ?
Howdy, my friend, It appears Bontools sucks as they realize folks may want to purchase this trowel, but are doing their best to remove, ignore or misrepresent this tool; why?
Who knows? Hopefully, a different trowel manufacturer from another country will create the same trowel. Hence we will promote theirs; sorry, this kind of bullshit is out of our hands. Cheers. 😉
I bought square end trowels and used my 4" grinder to create pool trowels, it wasn't that hard.
One of the boys showed this a while back. I work mostly inside, use them for drywall and plaster repair etc. Kirk converted me to the pool style, really like it.
Kirk… quick question when it’s convenient for you to provide a professional answer. I had some Rapid Set (red bag) CTS stucco patch reps come over and help Stucco our BBQ area. They used the retardant and it all matched with the existing ares. When I mixed up a batch and applied the stucco mix, it dried whiter than their mixture… what am I doing wrong. Please, I need some guidance.
Howdy Barking Shark, sounds like a Indian tribe name. I guess, I'd be Troweling fox as it sounds better than Troweling squirl? I didn't think adding retardants changed the color of the rapid set stucco. Ive added hundreds of packs of retardants and have not noticed color changes.
If you added sand, that would lighten it. But I take it they were premiexed bags where you just added water? The area's that you applied your new stucco was no doubt sealed or had a bonding agent this would also light the color of the tan sand color of rapid set stucco? 🤔
Yes, they were premixed bags and I just added 1 to 4 ratio. Not sure why my mixture is coming out lighter… guess I’m gonna have to spray everything with the same paint color… I dunno.
Morning Shrark Dude, premixed means you only add water. There's, your boo boo. Adding extra sand lightens the color and weakens the mix.. YOu only add sand to Eisenwall, not iin ts user frindly, "Premixed Rapid set products," sold at home depot or lowes. 🤔
I guess in Germany we make better concrete than in the u.s.
There are bridges completely made of concrete, millions of cars driving on them every year and nothing cracks 😅
Good work as usual 👍
Howdy Basse, in the UK, most use lime in the concrete this adds many more centuries of resistance to deterioration, as it has the ability to flex expand then correct itself. Portland cement does not flex. Things that make you go hmmm.😉
@@StuccoPlastering In Germany we put rebar in the concrete. So it can flex and "move" whitout cracking.. sorry for my bad english
@@basse.r Howdy Basse, your English is perfect. Now when I was young, all my friends would say, "What did your mom say? as she spoke four languishes except English well. But I always understood every word she said. 💃🏻
@@basse.r Of course we use rebar here in North America, in almost all concrete.
You may have missed the age of the home, +100 years, and rebar was not used in these old homes, especially in a retaining wall.
I work on these old homes all the time.
The fact they are still standing, are stunningly beautiful and on their umpteenth owner, is a testament to their construction.
Hey Kirk, I'll always use bonding sauce on the surface as intended/directed, but have heard it's good to also mix in the cement/concrete in addition to on the bonding surface, is that right? Appreciate ya!!
If you watch some of his other videos, he really doesn't like it when people rely on that.
I have mixed it in many times and it's never as good. I wouldn't bother doing it that way
@@peep39 O'course I mean doing both: on-surface as well as some mixed-in. A waste?
Howdy Richard, Fact, Sika does indeed make a bonding agent that can be used instead of water when mixing tile grout, It gives the grout the ability to adhere better to say glass or other non-porous substrates, But there is no bonding agent I'm aware of to add to stucco to make it adhere better. Bonding agents for stucco are best applied to clean surfaces, in which you plan to stucco over. Adding bonding agents into stucco mixes won't help the stucco adhere better, thus kinda a waste of time. 🤔
Thanks
No problemo, my friend. 👍
Does mesh help it from cracking and last longer?
Last longer, yes. But one thing you can guarantee with masonry… it’s going to crack.
Hello Julie, indeed it can, But rain is the enemy of stucco and concrete; as it lifts it, this action is like Kroptonight to Superman, not good, as this causes caring and buckling, which is normal. 👨🏫

O Joy, we do have about a thousand videos. 🥂
Kirk, I love your videos. But this isn’t going to last very long. Maybe in a warm climate it will last a little while. But anywhere it freezes this will blow apart during the first winter. I understand it’s free. Though this is more of a homeowner fix. As a professional I would never do this and take someone’s money.
Howdy Ace, we don't get temperatures below 35 in our area, thankfully. Me, I'd like an area where the weather is 85 to 100 degrees year-round; I'm thinking of packing up and moving to Arizona personally. 🤔
@@StuccoPlastering Same here, that mud sets up fast in the heat. We have to wait a while to apply the next coat here in the northeast during winter time. Most companies don’t even work from October to March because of the expansion and contraction. Some days are 10 degrees, the next day it may be 45. You really learn to hate the weather man. 😁
@@AcesnickvlcHowdy Ace Plaster Dude, that sounds horrible. I dislike cold weather myself. ☃
So they say Kirk, The Italians do it BETTER.!
Howdy Observer Dude, I heard that too, but not sure I believe it. 🤔
@@StuccoPlastering i mean the stucco. hahaha.
