Folks, we are located in Oakland, CA.

As a rule, folks, most same-day stuccos cost twice the cost for the materials but are also twice as strong as traditional stucco.
In this video, I’m working with a fast. Set hydraulic stucco as I wanted strength and the ability for the stucco to set fast.
In fact, it set after than I anticipated, determining factors on all fast set stucco: the weather or temperature is the main factor, and the adding or not of accelerator and/or retardants.
Yeah, my son Jason recommended adding the retardants to start with, but I asked him not to,
Big oops.
Retardants give a half hour to 45 minutes to work or play around the stucco.
Remember that no matter how bad your concrete stairs, foundations, or walls look, they can easily be repaired or fixed with stucco.

I had him do a small job for us (there’s a video). It was a real pleasure, and entertaining, to watch him work and impart his stucco wit and wisdom.
Evening Coach, what job did we do? I'll post it one this comment, Thank you for the kind words also.
Hi, Kirk… you repaired the stucco on our house in Walnut Creek about 8 years ago. Still looks great. Hope all is well! - Joseph
@@cyclingcoach Howdy Joseph, was that the one where we only did the complete front only?
@@StuccoPlastering It was a repair of a repair where the previous guy did substandard work. Two areas approx 3' x 5' below two windows at the rear of our house.
Had a dream I worked for Kirk Giordano plastering...got fired for not being good enough. Hope to remodel my basement someday soon and put all these plaster tips to the test! Big thanks to Kirk and the Giordano family!
Evening Paul Dude, that would be my nightmare or failure as anyone who gives their all is good enough for us. 😉
Hey Kirk,,, I want to say a big thank you. Never has a UA-camr made so much difference in my abilities, so quick. I had my electrical panel changed and was getting quotes to seal and stucco when I stumbled upon you. The quotes seemed really high and I am very handy, so I DIY'ed it. It passed the lath inspection, and when I applied the stucco, It came out really really nice. You made a huge difference. You gave me the good methods and the confidence I needed. I always was very meticulous. My biggest issue is working with too much cement that wants to set up quicker than I can work with, so I do 25 lbs at a time. You teach at a great pace, and convey the essentials clearly. I used a 6" wide firm putty knife, and a tile sponge. The stucco blends really nice. My electrician and the city inspector are very impressed. clean professional work. Thanks again.
Howdy Dirk Dude, thank you, and no problemo. We're the youtube stucco messengers.
Love these comments ! Good on ya man, good on ya !!
Cool beans, Daddieo😉
Rapid set mortar mix is truly incredible stuff and you can get it at any Home Depot. Bought my first sponge float years ago after watching your videos.
Howdy Vinceleto dude, indeed Rapid-set is strong cement plaster.
Man u guys are truly artist.
Howdy Jason dude, thank you, that was fun.😉
This guy is the Picasso of stucco. Just found myself watching videos for an hour and i not even doing a stucco job.
Good evening Mike Dude, man, I do like your style; thank you. 😉
"Do you what I like about you, Tom?"
- "No"
- "Me neither"
LOL
That's my Tom, full of humor. Hate to say it but he got me, but at the time I thought It's ten more minutes to round them off. 😉

Watching Kirk is therapeutic
I sure do like your style, thank you.
Hello my friend. My God that's some hell of a trial work. I get impressed every time I watch you. God bless you and your family 🙏🏾
Howdy Eric, thank you, however, this is really simple stuff for us. 😏
Man just found your channel. Love your work ethic your enthusiasm and your overwhelming positivity.
Sincerely a new subscriber 👍🏽😃
Awesome, thank you!😏
Kirk G taught me how to stucco
Howdy Danno, thank you, however, you taught yourself by watching, retaining information then applying with possibly a bit of trowel and error. We're just tour guilds.🧞♂
Nice come back at the end of the video!
Howdy John Dude, if you knew Tom, you'd know that his signature always kidding around.🧞♂
Im 25, and I’ve been watching your videos since I was like 18-19.
Im so glad you’re still around mr Kirk. You really are the Bob Ross of modern stucco.
Howdy, and thank you Eddie dude, I'm still in my prime and will be around for a long while.🥳
Great job Kirk
Howdy Patrick, thank you, my brother. 🍾
WOW you do some amazing work. I'm always like how's it going to turn out if he's talking but then bam looks amazing.
Howdy Big Pool Dude, iSho-Nuff I do tend to ramble a lot, as what I do seems too easy, thus talk to amuse myself and explain simultaneously.🥳
well done kirk. the best in the game
Howdy lakers Dude, thank you. 🤙
Always informative, fun to watch
Hello Dosso, man I like your style, thank you. 🥳
Really great job I agree the more difficult things are the more interesting it is for you to do by the way your family is increasing on the step
Howdy Chris Dude, LOL, Our families are not increasing;.
Jason just asked our nieces and nephews to be there.
Keep on hoping, cake by the ocean. 🥳
My respects to you Kirk. Still you have your white shirt and clean. Amazing. Very professional. You would be very busy down here in Melbourne.
Stay well.

Howdy Santiago, thank you, and happy holidays.
Great work!

Howdy T Bok Dude, thank you, this work I can do all day long as it's fun.😉
Kirk, your the man
Howdy Colin, thank you for those kind words; another day at the office for us. 😉
Brilliant, and good vid, I love learning about the medium, and use it myself occasionally, but want to get better at it!
Evening, and thank you, It just takes practice like everything else.🍾
I love how your troweling speaks with the same accent.
😏Evening Eddiie, LOL,
thank you Kirky
No problemo
great job!good eyeballing!
Thank you.
Fantastic Kirk, looks great! Like a magician, poof, and it's good as new.
Exzackory Big daddieo, 🧞♂
Hi kirk l need an idea on how to apply another coed off stucco to on existing pain one should I put chicken wire or just apply weldcret primer thanks a lot 🙏
Hey Kirk, you should have stucco those pillows at the the end. When you stucco the walls all the mud will fall on them ;) otherwise, great job
Howdy Basse Dude, with this job, That stuff doesn't matter. 😏
Hi Kirk enjoy your videos. I have a question for you regarding interior veneer plastering. After it has cured for roughly 2 to 3 weeks what type of primer do you recommend to go over it. I’ve heard some painters say oil base only or latex that can handle a high pH level such as Loxon. I’m worried about it bonding properly.
Most quality primers for interiors will work fine. My professional panting buddies tell me Sherwin Williams is a good quality primer and paint for all new interior walls.🍾
Hi Kirk, if you take down the stucco would it be a good time to replace the window trims? Where do you recommend buying window trims in the bay area? Thank you !
Howdy, I just bought some windows from HD. 🥳And didn't have to wait for months for them to come in.
Kirk, when do you need to put in expansion joints
Howdy Andy Dude, Stucco expansion joints can be installed if walls are over ten feet in any direction without a window or door in the wall.
A little know fact, windows and or doors act as expansions.
Or whenever they have been specified in the drawing or blueprints, usually with commercial construction.
Or if one prefers the look of them. 😉
Hey! I found your videos and I could use some recommendations. My house is stucco and my garage is cinderblock. I want to add stucco to the garage and some type of dash or something to make their textures match. I think I understand the process but I have no idea what products to use. Both are painted so I will need an adhesive/bonding agent. And I don't know what product to use to stucco, and what to use to make a dash coat. I have done one or two walls using Quikrete Surface Bonding Cement but I don't like it, you can see the fiberglass pieces in it. Do you have any recommendations?
In the tile industry we use these techniques to render walls true and plumb.
We the use a thin set adhesive mortar for stone in exterior wall applications in this instance.
@@MrOlskool88 thank you! do you have a brand you recommend or a link to something similar at lowes or home depot?
Hi Megan, any of the portland stucco sold at HD or Lowes will work; make sure they don't have fiberglass in the mix, as most don't. 😉
Hey Kirk not sure if you had a chance to read my message but, I was wondering what is the best primer to use with a fresh interior plaster skim coating job.
Most quality primers for interiors will work fine. My professional panting buddies tell me Sherwin Williams is a good quality primer and paint for all new interior walls.🍾
Tell you the truth i went out and got a 4000psi washer and its a game changer
You will never get the results you were expecting unless you have that kind of pressure it saves so much effort
Evening Cool Breeze Dude, exzackory. 😏
Hey Kirk as stucco contractors, does c-35 allow us to install Sheetrock , taping and drywall mud? Basically everything a drywall contractor does?
Howdy Empire Dude I hold a C-35 which means I'm licensed for any and all exterior stucco work and or interior plastering.
However, I have a wide knowledge of buildings, and homes, thus if a customer needs some carpentry or other framing to get my stucco ready, I can do this too If I chose to that is. 😉
GOOD STUFF 👍
Cool beans, daddieo. 🍾
That Tom!!! 😅
You must know him. 🤔
Kirk, hello My is Bobby R. from st.pete/Clearwater Florida I've been in the trade since 1989. The pay when I started was 5 bucks a hour a labor, mechanics were getting 10 to 12 a hour. I was curious what you would pay for a good mechanic with 33 years exp in all phases of Stucco&Plastering? Thanks
Howdy Bobby, I started hod carrying at 5 bucks an hour, too, man I thought I was getting rich then.
In a way, I was as I got some serious exercise skills and strength from the work.
As a rule, folks in our area get paid depending on their skill level and, equally or more importantly, to put forth their ability and use it or not to use it. 🤔
Whats the difference between Rapid set mortar mix vs Rapid set Stucco?
random guess is the aggregate
ua-cam.com/video/SQDoWYtvaQI/v-deo.html
I thought it might of had something to do with it being type N and stucco type S for structural. But they bothe structural. Only thing I can find is RS mortar mix can go up to 6 inches and RS stucco mix they say 3/8 to 2 inches.
Im also guessing the RS stucco mix as additives so I can be scratch brown and finish coat and or paint in 1 day.
But I couldnt find anything on whats the real difference.
thanks for your quick reply, I really appreciate it.
Excellent answer. Cheers
I am wondering Why you switched trowels about 5:50... leveling with a float, sure, that is fine... just wondering...
Not Kirk but generally he works with a pool trowel for major work, the giant size and rounded edges let him cover large areas smoothly. When he transitions to the inside of the staircase which has to be tight and square he goes to a smaller square trowel which can't put on as much mud but can put on a much more definitive edge and finish.
Hope the man himself answers you but that's my guess at a glance.
Evening Nicholas Dude, the trowel I changed to was a square trowel or actually a rectangle trowel for the square areas; my pull trowel toe needs a hand now and then. 😏
👍👍
🤙Cool beans, Daddieo.
Can stucco dry out to quickly and crack.
Yes, absolutely, thus on really hot days hydrate or hose it down with your garden hose after applying.😉
I put citric acid in my rapid set and it worked great, was Cement All
Howdy, we don't usually need any accelerators for Rapid Set. Cement all sets in bout 5 to 7 minutes, too fast for ole Kirk. 🤔
👍

Howdy Ahmed Ghazey, Dude or Munawwar Iheik from Iraq. This material is Eisenwall or know also as Rapid Set; you can buy bags already with sand and hydraulic cement at most stores, Or do as we do and buy the bags of Eisenwall from professional plastering yards and add your own sand,😉
