    How many folks are angry over waiting for windows and doors?
    In this video, as said, the owner and contractors waited for nearly a year with delay after delay. It happens.
    In this video, we are installing the base coat a year later with the understanding that when cured, we will finish the La Habra color finish coat, which is crystal white.
    What will make concrete or stucco set faster? Lumnite MG - Calcium Aluminate Cement.

    Thank you Kirk. I've watched dozens of your videos, slowly learning to do stucco repairs on our house. I'm finally getting a little better at it... Just did a patch a few days ago and my wife was amazed at how the texture matched perfectly. She asked how I did it and I said, "Simple, I just used a green sponge float, to bring out the aggregate!"
    This video is a little different because it shows more of your work beyond a quick demo. It gives a good look at the process... as well as what physical work it is to sling a wall's worth of stucco and an idea of what it must be like to put in a full day at it. Respect for that!

    I’ve been dealing with cracks due to the rain that got us during Christmas time. Everything started to crack late January early February especially on the ADU that I just did. But come to find out they ran a tamper for pavers around the perimeter of it.😢😢😢😢 .. 🤷🏽‍♂️

    • @StuccoPlastering

      Hi Raz, they did the same when adding the paver here, I just didn't add that comment as it's necessary to compress the grounds so that's the pavers don't sink. This causes serious vibrations which indeed will crack stucco walls and even the concrete sidewalks. Things that make you go hmmmm?😉

    The one thing I could never get used-to about plastering is having to throw out the leftover mix whenever I ran out of wall. Even the little bits that fall to the ground would make me crazy. I'm the kind of person who will take cold cuts that have been sitting out all day and put them in a casserole; wasting anything doesn't come easy for me.

    • @StuccoPlastering
      @StuccoPlastering  Рік тому

      I don't know about cold cuts, but we tend to mix the correct amount of stucco that we need; a little extra is always best for us; the excess is something we simply deal with, as that's

    Is a lot fun learning a few tricks from an experience professional.
    I have a question:
    Do I need to put paper on an exterior parking ceiling? The rafters are 12” center. And do I need to put a vent ?
    Thank you so much for sharing all your experience.

    • @StuccoPlastering
      @StuccoPlastering  Рік тому

      Howdy Carlos, the exterior ceilings only need a waterproof membrane if they are exposed to rain. For example in the video provided, it is outside however the rain can't touch it; thus no paper is needed. Vents are optional, ask the architect or builder. ua-cam.com/video/nESzhR3HkdE/v-deo.html/ 🥳

    Can you guys please elaborate based on your experience how the plaster/stucco process can affect the caulking around the windows? In a previous video by Kirk he explained how tape can affect it.
    I just installed windows and doors in a new house and they didn't leak until the plaster/stucco was applied (5 months or so without leaking). I saw some cuts in on my silicone in some areas where a section of plaster was unfinished. Can you guys elaborate on how this might had happened? Or what other process in the plaster might had affected the silicone that I applied? Or anything that might cause the leaking? This will probably go to court and I need all the help I can thanks. 🙏

      Howdy Jess, almost all portland based stucco will work, like Quikrete, Sakrete, Rapid set, etc. If I were going to do it I can make all these stuccos work, for a homeowner, I specifically recommend Quikrete Green-Cor USA, as it's a lime based stucco mortar with fine sand, It has the ability to move with the ground movement and applies like whipping cream. ua-cam.com/video/MbZHkJCJuZ8/v-deo.html/👨🏻‍🔬

    Hi Kirk, Thank you for all of the great videos.
    I have a situation that I would like to get your thoughts on. We just bought a stucco house built in 1994 with parapets and several of the windows are leaking. I went up to the roof and removed a damaged section of stucco on a parapet to find that the original builder apparently did not install a waterproof barrier under the foam layer. I have not yet verified if the body of the house below the parapets was waterproofed.
    I have had multiple contractors out with different solutions. I am sure that there are a lot of variables that can affect your thoughts, but any input would be appreciated. My questions are:
    Would a metal cap on the parapets likely solve the water intrusion problem? I assume most of the moisture is coming from the top of the parapet (totally flat and about 16 inches wide).
    I had another contractor pitch a system where they essentially coat the entire house with Senergy Alpha Base/Fiber Mesh/Alpha Base/Finish Coat. This apparently creates a waterproof seal from the outside. Do you have experience with this and is it a legitimate long term solution?
    None of the contractors have recommended a restucco of the house or even the parapets other than preparing either for a metal cap or the Alpha Base system. I am sure that this would be a great solution but probably the most expensive?
    Anyway thank you for your help

    • @StuccoPlastering
      @StuccoPlastering  Рік тому +1

      Howdy Matthew, I'd recommend a metal cap on the parapet top or coming down at least 4 inches, then a waterproof paint such as Stucco-flex or even stronger an acrylic system of a stucOflex primer and coating.

      I get it! I've had my construction, residential remodleing business since 1976! I got my G C License in 1976. I've seen and have been through all the different methods and phases of door and window replacement. I will usually match whatever method was used when the building was constructed! However, going back and observing my installations after 30+ years, I've found that breaking out the stucco, installing flashing, using concrete glue, and or adhesive in the plaster mix and on the broken, chipped plaster surfaces, last the longest against hairline and separation cracking and protects against water entering into the framework of the building, doors or windows! That's why I make the decisions on all of my work which method is to be used! Most guys don't want to do it the old fashion way "because" it's more work and harder!🤣👍
