I think this is my all time favourite of Billy's sketches; I can remember very vividly the first time my parents allowed me to stay up past 9PM and they were watching this; I think I nearly died laughing 😂

His story telling is on another planet altogether , what a Legend of a man the greatest Scottish entertainer ever .
Greatest comedian ever! When I was at college they showed us this with the sound turned off to highlight communication through body language and actions.

Billy Connolly gets a lot of praise and none of it is anywhere near enough to justify his brilliance. Me and my family still regularly reference his jokes without every mentioning exactly what we're talking about. I know you, I do, I know you, I know your face.

I agree, the first time I saw this I nearly died laughing, I fell off the couch. It never ceases to make me laugh and I have watched it thousands of times since
@alexandrabooth8938. Billy has said that he only ever did this routine live twice. But Agnes the lion has had a huge effect on people as he was always being stopped on the street by people asking how she was. So he watched the video of the routine, probably this one, and said it was his favourite routine of all the things he has done.
I've seen Billy live many times over the years, but I've never seen this routine. I would have loved to have seen it live, for me it's Billy's finest achievement. It's so damn clever. I believe it was only done twice live, which is a shame. The videos are OK up to a point, but just don't measure up compared to a live performance. Billy can feel justifiably proud of what he achieved here, it's that good. At the end of his career, Billy can point to this and say, I did that and smile inwardly. Outstanding. I salute you.

I watched this with my mum when I first got this on DVD/video (can't remember which) . My mum rarely stopped working/moving, but she sat down and watched this with me. She laughed her head off, which she rarely did. It's one of the few memories I have of just me and my mum enjoying something together.
Careful with the head tho. Repeat a few times and it gets dizzy real fast. 😂❤

First time I ever heard Billy was on a cassette id brought in the early 80s. It was a story about the fan who went in the wrong end at the Old firm derby. Just too funny I was crying. Loved him ever since😂

I had to fill in last minute for a stand up commedian who didn't show in a sketch review I was part of in the very late 90s. I swiped this whole joke to cover the slot and it went down an absolute treat. I am so grateful to Billy for being as funny as he is that even done second hand by an Australian not yet in his 20s can still have a crowd in hysterics.

I saw this leg of the tour when it came to the Liverpool Empire, one of The Big Yin's favourite venues to play. He did almost three hours and not a minute wasted. Legend.
He did the same in Glasgow for 4 hour's, honestly I had to take painkillers for my aching sides after.

Let's be totally honest here we are talking about a legend that all comics say that without Billy they would not be famous and rich the guy is a true fucking legend the greatest comic this world has produced and he has very really told a joke his observations of life are connectable because we all have been there a true legend
He was hugely influential and changed the direction of comedy. But a lot of your post is bollocks. Also Billy told a lot of jokes. when he was younger, and occasionally during the rest of his career.
A COULD quite happilly sit and watch this guy for ever ,honestly ,what a laugh,and he's so in touch with everyday humananity,,it's ,well a free up in Drumchapel and Govan,so he brings back so many happy memories ,Brilliant stuff
