Possession is a must.
Great song choice, Sarah is a Canadian treasure - fantastic voice, great songwriter and founder of Lilith Fair, an all-female artist tour back in the 90s. Peace and love from Canada!
Agree Sarah is amazing! Another fabulous Canadian female voice that doesn't get enough attention IMO is KD Lang. Her rendition of Hallelujah is sublime, as is Crying. Shivers.
I was just about to say it seems like a Lilith Fair Friday.
She is so one of ours must say....I don't know any Canadian that doesn't at least go "yeah okay fair enough". By that I mean I don't know anybody who would say anything bad about her. She even has the Order of Canada I think? I can't even think of a song that is not just angelic by her.....have had a crush on her since was 17 though so might be bias...lol...But got to recommend anything from Fumbling Towards Ecstasy...its all good...good to see you react to Canadian artist...maybe the Hip next? lol
I was totally about to mention Lilith Fair and that all the artists involved are incredible.
@@carols1406 KD Lang is an absolute must!!! Please Jay and Amber , react to her next!!!!
The ladies did very well in the 90s. It was such a fertile musical decade, and there seemed to be room for so many styles. Sarah McLachlan, Tori Amos, Natalie Imbruglia, Natalie Merchant, Jewel, Bjork, Fiona Apple, Paula Cole, Alanis Morrisette, Lisa Loeb, Aimee Mann, Joan Osborne, plus quite a few really good female fronted bands as well like No Doubt, Garbage, Elastica, Mazzy Star, and others.
Oh yeah, Female Fridays has a bright future with the 90's catalogue alone.
Lillith Fair! All the ladies with vocals of an angel.
Another great 90's lady -- Joan Osborne. "What if God were one of us" is brilliant.
@@janicepopham2352 Just a stranger on the bus, trying to make his way home, I remember it well.
@@janicepopham2352 Oh, yeh. How did I forget her?
Finally, some Sarah. Great voice. Great catalog. Next on your Sarah playlist: Angel. After that, I Will Remember You, Building a Mystery, Possession, and Adia.
Spirit animal. I've been suggesting this song forever. I've had the pleasure of seeing her in concert several times, and she's as stunningly beautiful in person. Her piano playing is beatific.
I will be the answer is a great one by her
She won best female vocal performance for Possession live (Afterglow). Should check that out next.
Another amazing song is Good Enough
@@meagankelly8755 Yes
"Building a Mystery" is a great one too from the same album. You might like some songs by Dido such as "White Flag."
Definitely Dido- White Flag. They would love that one!
Another vote for “White Flag”
Try looking up uTube's live version of Dido's Stoned, tis another beauty as well :)
Another vote for "Building A Mystery" w/ second choice "Possession."
Building a Mystery live version on Mirrorball is awesome
You need to listen to more Sarah McLachlan. She is amazing.
She has a lovely voice. My favorite was In The Arms of An Angel
It was until you saw that damn commercial 500 times huh?
Is this the song that is played by radio stations on Rememberance / Veterans Day ?
@@michaellynch5254 lol, I can’t hear it without seeing puppies 🥲
She has a voice that has always stopped me in my tracks. Many songs to choose from but "Angel" should be next for you. After that try: Vox, I will remember you, Possession, Building a Mystery, and Ice Cream.
Totally agree. Thirty years later, this song STILL gives me goosebumps. And "Vox" is GORGEOUS.
Yes, all of her songs are great 👍
I will definitely skip when they do arms of an Angel. That damn annoying commercial
Vox......what a gorgeous sounding song
Elsewhere, her version of Dear God...pretty much all her songs are amazing!
You are making this Canadian woman very happy!! Sarah McLaughlin is a Goddess -- this entire album is magical
well, you can spell it like that, but its still pronounced McLachlan. some would pronounce your spelling McLofflin.
Yep, it was the first album of hers I bought. When I popped it into my PC CD player, I saw that it had a Windows multi-media thing, so I checked it out and it had her past catalog on there. I checked that out and found out there were other songs of hers that I knew and had no idea! So, I went down the rabbit hole and over time pretty much collected every single one of her albums, and even some bootlegs. She was my absolute favorite for a long time. Went to Lillithfair one year in '99 I think it was and got to meet her in person after winning a radio contest during her Afterglow album tour and promotion.
@@jollyrodgers7272 easy now, autocorrect can certainly be a b*tch
Sarah McLaughlin "POSSESSION" ❤️
Fumbling Towards Ecstasy by Sarah is full of amazing songs; would definitely try Hold On, Good Enough and Possession by her. Just amazing songs that showcase her voice even more.
One of my favorite albums of all time. Good Enough is such an emotional song!
I had to buy that cd 3 times because friends kept taking it.
Great album from start to finish.
That album is THE LICK!!!!!! From start to Finish.
Elsewhere from Fumbling towards Ecstasy is my very favorite song.
Possession is the song that made her a star. Amber you will love it. Beautiful voice
Another Canadian female singer from the 90's. I recommend checking out Jann Arden, Amanda Marshall, and Chantal Kreviazuk too!
I loved Amanda Marshall..saw her in Calgary! She was so gorgeous! 🇨🇦
Amanda Marshall is awesome.
And don't forget kd
All of the above!! Amanda Marshall’s Birmingham is 🔥
Yes... yes.. yes to all of these ladies. Some of Chantal Kreviazuk's best songs are Surrounded, Leaving On A Jet Plane... and Wayne (my fave!) and there are more.. but that's good for a start!! 😁🥰
Possession is my fave song by her.
Sarah McLaughlin "POSSESSION" ❤️(original video). The lyrics were taken straight from her stalker's letters to her (he went to prison). Somehow she had the ability to turn it into such an incredible song! Such courage and talent to do that.
That’s scary.he probably listens to the song too
I do have to offer up a correction on this. The guy tried to sue Sarah about the lyrics, but before that trial happened he ended up committing suicide.
They were not taken straight from her stalkers letters, those allegations never got addressed as he killed himself before they went to court. Concepts and thoughts perhaps, but not lyrics. And it’s McLachlan
@@ddtuss2585he committed suicide
"I will remember you" is another great one.
There isn't enough love to give this woman. She is one of the best singers and writers. She is a talent.
Listening and reacting to all the 90's goddesses on this FF. Sarah Machlan sings so effortlessly.
Probably her breakout song was "Possession" which is fabulous. An ethereal, hypnotic, otherworldly track by her is titled "I Love You" and is just incredible.
Speaking of Canadians, kd Lang is a must, check out her live version of Hallelujah. 🤯❤️
kd’s voice is so pure and strong. I wore out my cassette of Absolute Torch and Twang, such an impressive album.
absolutely
Pulling Back the Reins
2010 Winter Olympics is the best version!
Such an ethereal voice. Sarah is all class. You should check out "Building A Mystery" and "I Will Remember You". Keep up the excellent reactions.
That’s the word I use for her voice as, ethereal. I was fortunate enough to see her once at Neil Young’s “Bridge School” benefit concert (I think that’s what it’s called) in the Bay Area. Truly an amazing talent.
AND ADIA
Nice. She is a remarkably talented singer/ songwriter.
Given your affinity for piano, listening to her song, 'Angel' is an absolute must.
Sarah is fantastic! I love "Posession" , " Adia" and "Building A Mystery" as well as
"I Will Remember You"
She founded the Lilith Fair Concerts.
She is a wonderful writer and has a beautiful Angelic voice.
PLEASE, I beg of you skip "Angel"
It really is a gorgeous song but the commercials tear me up...AND THEY LAST SO LONG!!!!😭
I love these songs, but my absolute favorite is “Ice Cream” from her first album. 🍦
Absolutely Building a Mystery. Adia is also very beautiful, but with every song she doesn't disappoint.
Building a Mystery is my fave!
Possession!!! That song is otherworldly!
She has so many beautiful songs to hear. Please put her song "Possession" on your list ?? That was the first song I ever heard from her and fell in love with her voice. Enjoyed this!
Yes I loooove the intro to that song!!
The live version from mirrorball is very very powerful!!
She has a timbre to her voice that is instantly recognizable to me, and she’s just as talented live, she really sounds like this
I love her first album Solace!! Listen to I Will Not Forget You!! So beautiful!!!
And finally “some sweet poetry, courtesy of Sarah McLachlan!” If angels could sing, this is what you’d hear. Beautiful all-around sweet notes from a gifted artist. So, so good! Love her. 🔥🤙
Sarah McLachlan is my all time favourite female artist period...
Finally!!! Possession was every 90’s kids idea of what ecstasy was all about. Love love love her. Possession then Building A Mystery!! Please!
Possession is the best, definitely put that on your list!
Saw her in concert several years ago, and sounds just as heavenly in person. She sang for more than 2.5 hours!
I saw her in 2014 and I agree her voice was still gorgeous!
She's one of my favourites 🎉
Sarah has a very ethereal voice... and I love how she can make her voice crack on key and it sounds so right. She's has a number of beautiful songs... One of my favorites is a song she lent her voice to for another group... Delerium... the song was "Silence"
My favorite song by her. A classic.
The lyrics to her songs are some of the best around. 💗
One of my very favorite female voices. I love Sarah McLaughlin, her voice has control, pitch, fullness and tone. In short beautifully perfect.
Finally! Iconic voice of the late 90s. Next you can try "Possession" 💙
Sarah McLachlan is an incredible singer. Huge in the mid 90s to mid 2000's. Check out her live versions of "Possession" and "Ice Cream" really show off her voice and control
YES YES YES YES I have been waiting on this for awhile. There are so many songs by her that you must hear. I so hope you like her.
“It doesn't mean much… It doesn't mean anything at all. The life I've left behind me is a cold room. I've crossed the last line from where I can't return… Where every step I took in faith betrayed me and led me from my home… And sweet surrender Is all that I have to give”
this song has played through out my life and I never thought back when this song was out when I was 16-18 years old and I played it non stop, that I would in 25 years be listening to it realizing that I have grown spiritually from a senseless way of living by giving in to a sweet surrendering of myself to God. I havnt listened to this song in probably 10 + years… just wow. It’s come full circle.
I have been waiting so long for this. 💕 She has such a beautiful voice. She has so much soul. You should try “ Fallen “ to me that absolutely shows her beautiful range.
^^ This
She doesn't get enough attention by music reactors. I did a search for reactors on her a while back and there isn't much out there.
She has a huge catalog of music
“I Will remember you” was every graduating class song for years
Building a Mystery is another of my favourite songs by her. Another artist for female Friday is also Canadian like Sarah McLachlan is Loreena McKinnett.
The Mystic's Dream. I think you would really like her as well. Cheers
Mckennitt
You will love so many Sarah songs. She and the band are amazing. I love so many of their songs but Fear is my favorite.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I've been requesting Sarah, and this song, for months. My favorite song of hers, and in my Top 50 songs of ALL TIME. So glad you finally got to listen to her angelic voice! "Possession", "Building a Mystery", "Angel", "Adia"... she has so many wonderful songs! Thanks for reacting!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Her album "Surfacing" is absolute brilliance from beginning to end!! She is a gift!
I"m also glad that you finally hit some Sarah. I love her gorgeous voice. Her "Fumbling Toward Esctasy" album is one of my all time favorites. Her big hit "Possession" is off that album as well as my favorite of hers "Ice". Another suggestion is a song that she did a guest appearance on for the group Delerium on their "Karma" album called "Silence'. It is an awesome song.
Forgot about "Ice". "Plenty" is also amazing - I think they used it on one episode of the TV show "Due South" in the 90s.
I'm pretty sure my eyes still dilate automatically whenever I listen to "Silence".
@@Shrykespeare Yes! They used a lot of her songs in that show, Fear, Possession (including the piano version), Fumbling Towards Ecstasy... That show introduced me to her.
Mirrorball is one of her earlier live albums which is my absolute favorite of hers! I’ve listened to her every single day for years and I can’t seem to get enough of her sweet calming voice‼️ Great reaction and would LOVE to hear more from her extensive catalog‼️ ❤️fromOregon🇺🇸
Another Canadian treasure. "I Will Remember You" will make you cry. Her song Angel made Paul McCartney cry when she performed it live in front of him.
POSSESSION is one of her Best Songs!!! Also Annie Lennox of The Eurythmics , Song COLD and LOVE SONG FOR A VAMPIRE are Must Hears!!!
There's a piano version of Possession that is simply magical.
Give a listen to Paula Dole - Where have all the cowboys gone.
Happy to see you finally discover Sarah McLachlan. Give her song “Hold On” a listen.
Paula Cole (just so they find it correctly) 😉
Paula Cole is awesome. I remember when she was Peter Gabriel's backup singer on his Secret World tour. One of the best live shows I've ever seen.
J & Amber, you will LOVE her "Building A Mystery" and "Angel"!! They are also on her album 'Surfacing' just like "Sweet Surrender". What a great album!he
I was entranced by her songwriting and her voice back in the 90’s. This song has always been my favorite of hers. It wasn’t a huge hit, but got a lot of airplay on Indie and alternative stations in Vermont where I lived at the time. Glad to see you reacting to it!
Vermont??? Where??? I live in Fair Haven at the bottom of Lake Champlain
@@daleperkins4901 I was in Winooski and South Burlington from 94 to March 98. Moved to New Orleans for work. We loaded our Uhaul that day in late March while a foot of snow fell, lol. It confirmed my decision to leave! Now I get to dodge tornadoes and evacuate for hurricanes. I used to drive every two weeks to Albany, went through your area on 22A IIRC and on over to Glens Falls to hit the Thruway south. I do miss the scenery!
@@NOLAgenX in 98 my wife and I were living in Brandon, a bit closer to where you were in Winooski.
Her album "fumbling towards ecstasy" is perfection.
1000000% Can you imagine coming up on the 30 year anniversary! Still an iconic album
Yes Yes Yes! Album changed my life. My favorite album. She is an angel.
Agreed. My girlfriend, now wife, saw Sarah live with Lisa Loeb opening on the Surfacing (this album) tour. I was one of the few guys in the audience. Believe it or not, I was the one who turned my wife on to the greatness that is, Sarah McLachlan.
Possession is my fav track off Fumbling.
My favorite of hers is "Possession" but I think you'd really like "Building a Mystery"
Glad you got to her. She has a very angelic voice.
Her album Fumbling Towards Ecstasy is one of my all time favorites. You should maybe check out Possession, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy or Fear
Simply not a bad song on that album. All you stated, plus Hold On, Mary, Good Enough, Ice Cream,... Incredible.
Sarah’s voice is simply mesmerizing. You’ll love exploring what else she has out there 😉
Nice song to introduce you to Sarah, she's an incredible artist. This cut is from her Surfacing album, which is really really good. Check out Building a Mystery from the same album, it's jaw dropping good. Possession from her Fumbling Towards Ecstasy album is another favorite of mine. Sarah is the real thing, and a great artist to explore. Thanks for the great reaction!
I always loved Sarah's song Icecream.
Love this song, and artist. This is probably my top favorite song of hers. Some other good Sarah songs to check out: Building a Mystery, Adia, and Possession.
Finally! I love her voice!
--Aida, In the arms of the angels, Building a mystery, and Ice Cream is fun.
Another vote for “Building A Mystery”. “Possession” is great too!👍
One of our Canadian treasures.....my all time fave from Sarah is " Elsewhere"...but also "Adia"...I Will Remember You.....Building a Mystery...all stellar and feature her amazing singing voice....
"Plenty" is my favorite Sarah McLachlan song.. it's very ethereal.
Agreed. It's brilliant.
I saw her in concert and her voice is just amazing. Of course you need to do I will remember you and Angel. And yes, as much as I love her voice… When ‘the commercial’ came on with her song in the background I had to switch stations are I would cry.
You have to listen to Sarah’s “In The Arms of an Angel”, it is so beautiful ( Laci Peterson’s mother had this played at Laci’s funeral). Also “ I Will Remember You”, is one of my favourites. Sarah is our Canadian angel.
I absolutely love Sarah's voice and her song Angel a must hear.
Try "Angel" (though you may have heard that one), "Building a Mystery", "I Will Remember You", and, the dark horse of them all, "Possession", a song that quoted the letters from her stalker.
a treasure from eastern Canada
Love, Sarah's music, dating back to seeing her at a small club in Connecticut when she was just starting out.
Jay and Amber, any of her music is worthwhile listening to, but important to know she's dedicated much of her career fighting racism and poverty, and advocating for shelter animals, women's rights and other causes... in other words, she's a really cool person beyond her obvious musical talent.
Sarah has one of the most beautiful voices! Her music is a trip! So moving.
Another amazing Canadian singer is
Luba… “Every Time I see Your Picture” is great…
She has a voice that captures your ear…..
Amber would fall for her voice…..
@Dorothy Storry I totally forgot she was Canadian!
I Will Remember You is such a great song.Sarah has such pure tones that it is almost ethereal how she sounds.
So glad you're reacting to Sarah McLachlan. I don't see other reactors listening to her music, and it's a shame because she's brilliant. I strongly recommend, "Adia", "Building A Mystery", "Possession", and from her 1st album, "Vox". "Vox" really shows off her vocal range so strongly and beautifully, yet it's a bop of a song. Thanks, you guys.
I am a guy, and there was a time in my life when I would purchase her CD's as soon as they were released. Love her music and her voice.
Everything she sings is great - "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy" & "Possession" & "Building a Mystery" & "Adia" & "One Dream" (Written for the Vancouver Winter Olympics) & "Train Wreck"
Yes, Sarah McLachlan is really good. And I agree with many others on the next two suggested songs from her. Yes, both of these songs are tragic. And both of these songs could be considered her "signature songs".
"Angel" .... and ...
"I Will Remember You"
Let me offer a few more from her that I like. The first is one a couple of others also suggested.
"Ice Cream"
The other two that I like are:
"I Love You"
And perhaps the most heart-wrenching one to me:
"Do What You Have To Do"
Hope you enjoy more Sarah!
Building a Mystery is also a great song her! Give Mummers Dance by Loreenna McKinnett a listen, also a great song from the 90's. Love y'all!
Wonderful voice Aida is my favorite
Here we go, a Canadian icon. An accomplished musician, singer/song writer. "Ice Cream, Building A Mystery" and "Hold On" are worth checking out. Also, check out "Path Of Thorns (Terms) and "Drawn To The Rhythm"
Hold On is my favorite song by her.
I'm a musician so this might just whiz past people's appreciations--but the bass composition of this song is one of the best I've every come across. So mesmerizing; takes me away.
She has a bunch of great songs.
The entire song construction here is so interesting. The back up melody, arrangement, blend, and the spare, but varied instrumentation...so beautiful. Sweet, hypnotic, but powerful.
Check out Possession by her.
NO one sings/sounds like Sarah. Love, love her. A deep, deep vault you have discovering her. Enjoy the trip.
For female Friday you should check out Til Tuesday " Voices Carry"
Possession and Into the Fire are absolute bangers... and her version of Gloomy Sunday is the most beautiful and haunting one there is.
Thank you for finally playing Sarah, she is Canadian....more Canadians please. Please try The Tragically Hip, "New Orleans in Sinking," it's pure blues....
Sarah is amazing...she has so many great songs...Fear...Possession....Good Enough...
She has a TON of good songs. Try out I Love You, Angel, I Will Remember You, Possession, Building A Mystery, Fallen.....she has a bunch!
Her voice just always takes me places. A fantastic vocalist and songwriter.
Give Dido a try ‘white Flag’ , Thank you’, here with me
Her lyrics are always outstanding 👏 'where every step i took in faith betrayed me, and lead me from my home."
a must listen for you! "What if God was one of us" by Joan Osborne.
Yes!
YES!! 👍😃❣️
Welcome to the world of Sarah McLachlan, one of music's most beautuful and iconic voices of the last 30 years! I've met Sarah several times and not only is she a wonderful, kind person but she's a dedicated humanitarian and generous philanthopist. Please discover more...."Possession" "Ice Cream" and "Fumbling Towards Ecstacy" are just a few gorgeous songs. Enjoy your new discovery!
Sweet voice! Check out Anita Baker Sweet Love. It is really special, you’ll fall in love with her
Love Sarah. So many great songs and an angelic voice.
Sarah isn't that well known here in the UK - she's never had a top 10 single or album in the UK. If there's one album I can highly recommend, it's "Solace". It's a masterpiece with no filler tracks and perhaps a peak that she never quite reached in the rest of her (long) career. "Sweet Surrender" is fine, but is by no means her best song.
"Building a Mystery" has always been my absolute favorite of hers.
