    Today, we look at the Redragon Bluesiren, an oxymoronic mass-produced keyboard with an aluminium chassis! Redragon are kind of price fighters, it would appear, so let's take a look to see how well they've done!

      This is true, but 99% are just MX clones with very little real difference between them. You can almost ignore manufacturer or brand by now, it's just all the same.

      Buy the cheapest but good ones. JWICK Yellow (linear), KTT Kang White (linear), and JWICK T1 Black (tactile). Those are the cheapest and in my opinion better than the original Cherry MX. For clicky I don't have a clue since I never use them other than Cherry MX Blue.

    The biggest question is... will this be counted as one of your "Go-to" keyboards? Sure, it's still an MX Switch keyboard at heart, but with so little faults, this could pass. But again, MX.

    • @Chyrosran22
      @Chyrosran22  9 місяців тому +23

      Yeah, this can pretty much pass as that tbh. Maybe I'd prefer a stiffer spacebar switch but honestly she performs very well all-round.
      You must be a loyal viewer if you know that term xD .

    As far as durability goes. I've had another Redragon model with a similar aluminium build for about a year now and I can say it's pretty much the same as when I got it aside from general dust building up. I feel that I can confidently say this will last for a long time and if a switch breaks you can always replace it easily so.. Pretty satisfied with it!

      @@Chyrosran22 Yeah, that's probably a good thing. I have a Niceboy ORYX K444 keyboard which had AWFUL switches actually manufactured in house, I got it as a gift but I pity anyone who actually spent 200 euro on it. The Red switches on that keyboard are genuinely awful, extremely springy and they feel horrible when compared even to Kalih Reds which I am using right now

    I've never used a ReDragon keyboard, I'm familiar with the brand through their mice though. Definitely not bad for the price. They do have a keyboard I've been eyeballing, the K628 "Pollux" 75%, because I really like the layout. It's like a compact 96% just without the F row. It looks really intriguing to me.

    I bought a cheap redragon keyboard with I think outemu blue switches in it years ago just to have at work... mostly plastic, the keycaps were terrible but swapped them out... overall for the cost I've been pleased... not going to dethrone my Model M at home but for something I don't mind losing it's not bad at all

  • @qbabyrolfe
    @qbabyrolfe 8 місяців тому +1

    Awesome review. I have two comments. According to Redragon's website: "The keycaps are made of innovative PBT mixed ABS material with never-fading letters, gentle touch, and exceptional durability." Maybe that's why they seemed thicker than normal double-shots?? Also, one negative I've found is there is no way to dim/turn off the ribbon LED. I contacted tech support and had that confirmed.

    • @diodebridge
      @diodebridge 7 місяців тому

      Ahh that's actually a big negative if you dislike shine. I had an old Akko board with their OEM keycaps that were 85% PBT 15% ABS and they shine just about as fast as normal ABS keycaps if not FASTER due to their impeccably smooth surface (even cheap ABS double shots have a noticeable texture that takes a bit to wear down)

    Not sure if the K654 does/will suffer from the same problems as the K551 (and -some- at least one similar chinesium board) does, but after some time it developed some chatter and it gets worse as time goes on. And I had to swap one switch out like a month into it (got 4 extras for the K551), and had to replace the previous other-brand board because a key died on me and that one wasn't hot swappable. When they work, they're okay, and yeah, there's nothing much to complain about out of the box, that part of the experience is pretty solid.

    • @Chyrosran22
      @Chyrosran22  9 місяців тому +7

      This one even comes with a few replacement switches out of the box. Really hotswappability is a major benefit I think.

    Check redradon k551 mitra/vara(rgb) out
    Its solid full-size 104 cap layout (no dedicated media keys tho, only fn+button reachable)
    Built like a tank with 1.5mm metal plate and pretty thick plastic case.
    I changed switches on mine from outemu blue to outemu black(lubed) and it feels great
    Keycaps are not the thick kind one, sadly, but its super affordable keyboard and great base for a full-size with outemu-like 3pin switches

    The stabilizers sound better than they have any right to on a keyboard in its price class. I know you hate 60% boards, but the one they make that I think has the same model number is $35 and compared to similar offerings from Corsair or HyperX, it's really damn good.

    Ducky One 3 is fully programable without software (macros and rgb) and hot-swap too. Why is Ducky completly missing here? 😢 ❤

    • @diodebridge
      @diodebridge 7 місяців тому +1

      To be honest Ducky really isn't THAT much of an upgrade over cheaper options. The cases are made of thicker plastic but is that really such a benefit when the cases have that ugly taper on the sides?
      Ducky has always been in a tough spot price wise. For a little extra, you can get a Leopold, Varmilo or Filco which have better builds, stabilizers & keycaps. Varmilo has better EC switches to boot. For a little under, you can get Keychrons or one of the various solid hotswap options without really missing anything. The PBT caps on Ducky can be obtained for like $13 btw
      They aren't bad boards but personally I think above all else they aren't remarkable enough for a full review by Chyrosran :p

    I also use a Redragon gaming mouse that I got on Amazon. I'm not a 'pro gamer' or whatever so I don't need a super crazy expensive gaming mouse, so I went with a Redragon. It works extremely well, it looks great, and cost like 1/2 of what a more prestigious brandname gaming mouse might cost. I am actually quite partial to Redragon for that reason.
