To Chloe fans…if this album doesn’t chart well, it’s okay. Janet Jackson didn’t have her breakout album until her third album Control…it took Rihanna a couple of albums to find her sound and be successful. If Chloe has the drive in her to be that girl (and we know she does), she will eventually be the talk of the town. Let’s just be grateful that she took a step and released a debut album on her own and revel in the fact that she was the executive producer of said album..Chloe is amazing and she is well on her way to be that pop icon that we know she is destined to be.
Aretha took 9 albums till the first hit .... the queen of soul
Rihanna had hits even on her very first album. Those hits are considered classic til this day. I don’t see “Have Mercy” or “Treat me” having that same effect but we will see what the future holds.
Girl you're reaching comparing this tired ass attempt of Chloé to Rihanna when her first singles were hits and became instant classics, she was a hit machine pumping out bops since Pon de Replay
The problem is the GP doesn’t give artists multiple chances like that any longer and things move much more quickly these days.
Why are people so anxious to have her be a solo artist? Perhaps this lackluster album means that she needs her sister. Perhaps they balance each other out. They may make the best music when they are collaborating together. Do you think they are never gonna make music as CXH again?
I’m hoping that Chloe stays encouraged after this and takes lessons from this debut album so that she can come back stronger than ever! She definitely has it in her.
I found it a bit of a misstep to LEAD with an album that's essentially about a break up. In order for us to CARE, we need to know her and her story. Chloe X Halle often dealt with the themes of being different, being asked to dum down their music, first love etc
Now, that she is SOLO, it should have been a real introduction to HER, not by way of her breakup. The first lyrics on a DEBUT should not be "F*ck Ni**a x 2". I enjoyed the album, but it was only through two songs that I thought I had a better sense of who she is.
@@KairoK i absolutely agree. And it’s not to say the album is bad. This project could’ve been stored in the vault until the audience had time to connect with and understand that part of her. I think, like Zach said, especially this being the project to follow Have Mercy, Treat Me, etc. (which were essentially “bad b!tch” songs) a heartbreak album just wasn’t what we were expecting.
@@DaijaeMonae I absolutely agree. I want her to win so badly! I selfishly hope she "returns" to those more daring and creative routes she gave us with her sister - of course, whatever that looks like as a solo artist.
Yea it's a solid r&b album she should have performed not songs from the album though
My thing is " if she has it in her" why didn't she do it.
I think she needs a B-side or a deluxe version of the album where she is not in pieces. We need the hits and bops that I am sure she had originally started out with before scrapping that project. Because I definitely was enjoying songs like For The Night, Have Mercy, Surprise and even Treat Me.
Agreed
🎯 Yes!! I really like those songs & they have great replay value ❤
Ooooh I love this idea!
The fact that there are talks about her releasing an album of b-sides, within a week of the album’s release, says a lot. I hope she survives the avalanche of projects from other “Parkwood artists” that will be happening in the next few months.
Good idea! I agree! ❤
This is why you gotta listen to albums BEFORE watching reviews. Because BABY I love this album. I am pretty sure she’s getting all this from ppl who haven’t listened or have opinions skewed due to reviews. I personally LOVE! “I don’t mind” has been on repeat my entire workout!! 🎉 I am celebrating Chlöe’s efforts.
Agreed!!!
Yessss❤
I don’t get why she didn’t put “Have Mercy”, “Suprise”, and “Treat Me” on that album. Those were her biggest singles so far.
She said it didn’t go with the album
She should have created an album that gave energy bc that’s what the girls wanna hear.
@@MsGemini period
@@thatkid1538 I think it might as well with Told Ya!
Because when artist put singles from a year ago on the album, people bitch
I honestly don't understand why people are so hard on Chloe. This is a good debut and the songs have replay value. Most people only listened to the album once and decided they hated it but all the songs are growers. I hope she has loving people around her because she deserves to feel proud of herself.
I think they expect her to be a Beyoncé like figure and are disappointed when she doesn't get into the game immediately with Beyoncé best qualities but that's just my opinion😅
@@asava17she definitely isn’t desperate and she grew up. People keep forgetting that. So of course that now she is being sexual it’s a problem when honestly she is just being herself
@asava17 then people need to reflect on the entitlement they have towards her image and being that her living outside of their expectations of her pisses them off that much. She's free to be and do whatever she wants. Why do people feel the need to "own" her to the point of never giving her grace??
I’m sorry but “all the songs are growers” is a problem for a debut album. I love Chloe and everything she’s done with her sister, Halle. However, I feel like she should have stuck to the original album that she scrapped and replaced with this rushed out version. Like, I’m an album listener and I honestly don’t return to singles if I don’t like the album. Unfortunately, this wasn’t her best effort but I haven’t given up on her because I know she can deliver like she did with her more pop/rnb songs.
@@hellobeanz4009 put this is the thing it's a damned-if-you-do damned-if-you-don't because the same people who expect this from her also call her Beyonce copycat and they don't like the fact that she's trying to be another Queen B
I loved the album. I don’t feel like the album was rushed considering she’s been working on it for 3 years AND she had been doing promo for a year prior before she changed directions. Chloe is also young, and this is her first solo album. People need to give her grace and room to grow. I do agree that what she’s singing about may have been disconnected because we as viewers don’t know what she’s going through personally, but as a fan I’m just happy to have new music from her. I do wish the songs were over 3 minutes. Please bring back 4 minute songs. PLEASE!! This under 3 minute song mess is TIRED!!! 😤😤
3 years yet excuses
I think Chloe has the opposite problem of Normani- she dropped so many singles back to back it was overwhelming. Have Mercy, Treat Me For the Night, Pray it Away, How Does it Feel, Cheat Back, Body Do… Aside from when Have Mercy dropped, I felt like I had no time to let a song grow on me before she dropped another. And like you said, we are still trying to accept this transition from Chloe x Halle to this sexual Chloe. It just felt rushed and I think her team should’ve slowed down a bit to get it right.
Dont forget surprise
@@jdd6958 ah yes! So many songs that I forgot one
But Have Mercy was out for almost a year before she dropped Treat Me. That’s more than enough time. Remember the clip she dropped went viral on tik tok and she didn’t drop the whole song and visual until almost 4-6 months later. Then she dropped treat me a few months later with a visual.
Dare I disagree. Chloe dropped according to our attention span. Versus Normani who gave us a song a yr ago and nothing else
@@afrovocative I agree. That’s what I meant when I said except for when Have Mercy dropped. She gave that single time to grow, but the rest of the songs were back to back.
I think more artists deserve to have album or a body of work that is for them. I'm happy Chloe had that moment early on in her career, because she's said over and over that this music was healing, it was therapy, etc. and mental health is SO important. Her attention is also so divided right now with the album, Swarm, Praise This, and more projects. My hope heading forward is that the record label and her management will put together a better plan moving forward for any other musical projects she may have in store. Who knows, maybe an In Pieces deluxe could pull things together. The nasties on the internet will never be able to do what she does, and she's just getting started.
Per
Somebody explained it very well. Chloe x Halle’s sound/message seems to rep girls who got it together & know their worth. It seems like Chloe wants to do the complete toxic opposite & Cheatback (that’s my fave on the album) which is a throw off to her actual fanbase. Now they can’t fully connect to the music & the other ppl who like that type of music just don’t like Chloe because they feel the sexy/hood/toxic style is inauthentic. I think she’s having a great run still! It’s a bop!
She probably needs that Ungodly hour factor for her music
Are you sure or ppl just want to nitpick because for eg wonder what she thinks of me is definitely not for knowing your worth lol. And honestly chloe×halle never had a strong fan base, most of chloe's solo songs have better streams than their duo songs. There's a divide in what ppl want from chloe, some want rnb while some want pop however when she does pop she's dragged but there's more attention ofc and when she does rnb no one listens
Are y,all delusional? Wonder what she thinks of me was literally about being a side ho and the girl smelling your perfume after you smash. Then tipsy literally about being ratchet and effing a man up who not acting right.
Wonder What She Thinks of Me sounds like someone who has it together? That’s literally about sleeping with someone’s man. What’s the difference between the content of that and Cheatback?
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I think the disconnect with miss Chloe is that she had to go commercial. She’s not a commercial artist, everyone who has been riding with her and her sister know that they’re one of the most unique talents ever which is why we held onto them throughout their youth. But for Chloe, she had to make music that would please the record label and a more global audience. She’s not making music purely for the sake of making music anymore and I think that point matters in the conversation.
one of the most unique ever... be serious
I wish she was an indie artist. Too many people trying to reach legendary status and lose themselves.
🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯
@@Key_1111 Yeah, very true. Indie artist are usually hidden gems.
This is it!
Chloe's demographic is people who like music😅😅 There are TONS of albums and songs I like without knowing ANYTHING about the singer, producer, management team, psych profile of the singer, target demographic , distribution company, what she ate that morning, or what she felt like when she sang the songs on the album😂
For the folks who are not overly attached to Chloe's past or how she chooses to present now, the album is 🔥🔥🔥and a whole VIBE. Put on the car or while cleaning the house, quit overthinking it, and enjoy this masterpiece😊
This album will steadily gain steam and go platinum this year.
Is it bad/wrong that I really really would rather have Chloe x Halle albums/content? I played tf out of both of their albums and I took me on such an emotional rollercoaster. They were like the neo-soul/r&b/alternative for the new younger black girls and I don’t feel like we got enough from them😭
This, this and this.
I still play the first two as well! Their tiny desk is ❤😊
I agree
Yes but people needed to actually support them more so they could be commercially successful. They had the acclaim and it was much deserved their sound was fresh and progressive
no as its an opinion which you're valid to have!
I love the album, "Body Do" & "Make It Look Easy" are my favorites, but I still wish the album had more of a vibe like previous singles, cause "Have Mercy", "Treat Me" & "Surprise"...girl THOSE WERE BANGERS ❤🔥- and they should have been included on that project regardless of anything
I 100% AGREE! I liked this album to say the least but for a while I’ve really wanted Chloe to give off the fire she gave from Have Mercy and Treat Me. There is a reason why those two are the most popular from her discography and it’s because she really gave it her all and made her presence known especially in Have Mercy. She gave energy, vocals, hooks, runs, rapping, flow switches, dancing, visuals, and it was smooth on the ears.
This album should have definitely focused more on dance/pop/hyperpop with little dashes of hip hop and/or R&B. As Body Do and Told Ya are my faves
I totally agree. She made a splash with that for a reason and I don’t know why they went away from that for the album.
Yes I agree.. the album is okay if your into lyrics and sitting by the fire.. This album is for when you have already made it had some hits and club bangers around.. She should of had more tracks like Body Do.. Again, I think Beyonce is allowing her to pick and choose what she wants on the album but honestly they need to do better A & R and guide her with the music that will work for today.. She needs nice r & B soul bangers and dance friendly music. she is not big enough to go pop. The writing was good but the music was dead and uninteresting.. Her fans and audience is younger and the music needs to cater to just that.
Chloe is amazing and she IS that girl! Idc what numbers say or what critics say. I pray she stays encouraged and that she keeps going!! Songs have definitely grown on me since my first listen of the album. I think that if bigger artists put out those exact songs (certain ones) they would get radio play and do bigger numbers. Going to continue streaming In Pieces and I'm excited for whatever she puts out in the years to come. ❤️❤️❤️
Worried, I don’t mind, heart on my sleeves, feel me cry. I actually feel like the album was for HER. Rather than for a target audience I think as a artist she is finding herself and we are on this dance with her to see what SHE wants rather than what I would like. Her Melodies and voice is reaching for something to me
This like people are asking who her target audience is when we should really ask what her goal was with her album. Really feel like this album was for her more than anyone else and for those who may be able to relate.
fr!
Heart on my sleeve and I don’t mind are amazing 😮 we need a tour
I couldn’t agree more with this comment. I do wish there were more upbeat songs but this album really seems like it was coming from her heart and she was giving us a piece of her soul
I think if the Dream produced the entire album this would of been a bop.
Girl!! You are on to something!. Dream DEFINITELY needs to hit some type of song with her. It seems no one can find her sound . He'll know exactly what to do with her voice. ❤
Fr fr yes
Idk people didn't even like the song he did on the album
@@hiitsmeeeeeeeeeeeLooze U is my favorite song on the album but we definitely don’t need a full album of that
Chloe is focused on co producing more than working with another producer. I think that’s a issue too with Chloe. She’s not wanting to work with others to help her!!!!
To be honest I loved the album. I will defend it to the fullest!! Chloe did an amazing job.
Exactly ❤
It’s truly good music
R these her friends🤣
“In pieces “ is awesome. I wish it was longer.
@@snijanafleur8442 omg honestly same
Body Do, Worried, I Don't Mind, and Told Ya are definitely the stand outs on the album. Have those on repeat!
Last night I went to see her live in Detroit. I hadn't listened to the album before hand and was pleasantly surprised. She sang her ass off. She danced her ass off. She produced a song on stage! I left with so much respect for her even after following her since her youtube days. It's hard to get on stage and give something your all when everyone there is judging you (the tickets were $7). Best intimate show I've seen in years
I would have loved a Sweetener / Thank You Next back-to-back release moment for Chloe w/ her self titled album & In Pieces just months apart. Keep going Chloe!
I wish "I dont mind" was a single! She should've had Arya Starr as a feature on it and it would have been epic! Something else she missed the plot on with this album is the features. I wanted her to have fun features like Flo milli or Doechii or 6lack. That would've drawn the audience in because she's working with people people are interested in
AGREED 🔥🔥 that song didn’t get the love it deserves in my opinion
A Flo MILI x Chloe collab would have been crazy I agree with that !!
Libianca would have been great too
@@charsitychristian1513 THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN 🤌🏿❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
These are great options! Way better than future imo. 😅😅 he was the one he really didn’t see the need for.
I was so ready for this video. Thank you Zach for supporting our girl. I want Chloe to win so bad. And after playing the album a few times I’m finding myself actually loving it in its entirety. Peor need to give her grace. Hopefully her next project will sound more authentically her.
Chloe is on the right path tbh, every great artist goes through this, where they’re cutting, refining and smoothing out the rough edges, this is how to get to the final beauty.
Thank youuu Zach!! I was saying that she doesn’t have a hit on this album and I feel like that’s something she should’ve strived for on her debut. Especially with the singles we were getting before the In Pieces rollout, they don’t correlate to the album. Chloe the singles vs Chloe the album are two different people and it’s hard to interpret.
Well I mean Chloe the singles were created and released during a different time in her life whereas Chloe the album was created and released during a different time as well so why do we expect a person/artist to remain in the same place in life and for their work to reflect that if just for the audience? Shouldn’t an artists work b a reflection of them, their journeys and what they want to hear? Chloe seemed to prioritize her desires as an artist with this album and not the public’s and that arguably is something that maintains her integrity and should b the norm for all artists
@@SupernaturalLove100 I appreciate that! I genuinely do. As a creator, I totally understand creating something and feeling strong about it. It feeling personal. However - the fan, the people who are consuming - need more consistency. Chloe is in a particular space. She’s growing and evolving in front of us WHILE being a producer, WHILE being a vocalist, etc. it’s a lot. And ist not cohesive
This I agree with!!!
@@KDBetter I agree with you both. However, with this being Chloe’s debut, she should’ve remained consistent with the singles she was releasing before the album was finalized. She’s most likely lost/confused fans with the release of and R&B album when the singles prior are pop girlies (made for radio). I’m an artist as well and understand integrity and being true to who you are but I also believe she could’ve done that and stayed in the pop lane. From a consumer standpoint, we’re the one’s buying the music, what we wanted to hear should’ve been prioritized. And for her debut?? She comes off confused or to be putting on a facade with this choice. I mean, we were pulled in to solo Chloe with Have Mercy, Treat Me, Surprise, For The Night. None of the songs on the album match that energy except Body Do. It’s a great body of work but people will not like it for this reason alone.
Chloe is one big hit away from mainstream success. A bit unpopular opinion I have on her is she needs to get pop writers or people that specifically write mainstream music and collab with them. Her lyrics, melody and writing is expectional but one or two pop songs imo would solidify her .
About a hit: A hit isn't necessarily the end all be all because Miley still has the biggest international hit in the world and her album still didn't get to #1, and hasn't sold as much as one would assume. It has to be the whole package.
That’s not what she wants lol what’s the point of her being a producer and writer if she can’t do it for herself??
@@justtester_9962 miley has never been a strong albums artist. She’s a singles artist
I agree, she honestly can be marketed to the mainstream.
She has a girl next door personally. She needs to collab with pop artist like Duo Lipa and Doja Cat.
@@justtester_9962 her album went #1 in the UK… The U.S is just deaf
Chloe did a lot of the work herself, the album is amazing & it deserves more but Chloe said she doesn’t mind if people don’t like it because it will find its way to the right people ❤
i really luv all the concept ideas you were giving zach 21:39. i could just imagine how it would be and sickening the album would’ve been . i luv the album, but those concept you pitched were amazing and i would’ve loved to have seen it.
After have mercy came out , with how good it did, the album should have come out
Exactly
Maybe I’m alone in this but this album moved me to tears. I think in the description on the album Chloe said she never got the chance when she was younger to date and fall in and out of love and so she’s experiencing this stuff now. This really took me back to my first love and first heartbreak. Like. I’m a grown ass married woman now but this album made me feel like a dumb lovestruck teenager all over again. Ugh. F the N***** I dated almost 2 decades ago 😂😂😂😂
Girl yes the album was literally my last step to healing from a situation. It's like the girls that get it, get it. The girls that dont, dont!
Me too in pieces and make it look easy❤
So this is why people feel her sexual liberation looks forced... because it is. She doesn't know what sexy is ...that it can be simple subtle things...she believes it's vulgar everything showing tounge out..she's giving Suki vibes and it doesn't connect to her soft voice and obviously naive experiences..
Same! Particularly for "Looze u"
I definitely agree! I feel like I can, personally, resonate with Chloe in her songs. I don’t feel like that with Summer or anyone else. Maybe because Chloe and I are the same age and go through similar experiences. This album is great!
I usually don't listen to full albums. However on my trip to Georgia(I live in FL) the whole album was on replay. Loved the whole album.
I think because I’ve been a fan of chloexhalle for a while, I had expectation of what Chloe can do, I know she’s super talented but the album was underwhelming for me. I do like a few songs on it but like Zach said, it didn’t move me. I would love for her to figure out her target audience, definitely help along the way with her solo career, my favorite songs though are body do, in pieces and worried.
In pieces debuted #15 worldwide in 3 days. She’s doing fine and the album is 🔥
why do we do this? stop just blindly supporting everything an artist does, they are fallible. This album was not a success, sorry.
why do we do this? stop just blindly supporting everything an artist does, they are fallible. This album was not a success, sorry.
@@fok3624 For her debut, YES it was. Who do you think she is Ariana Grande to debut at #1 or Camila Cabello to debut top 10. She nor CXH have 0 HITS. She did fine.
Girl that’s not good…
The album was not a success, I agree . Why are we hyping up mediocrity omg. Chloe is extremely talented but this was horrible imo
The 90's was the perfect time for artist to come out with music. This time and generation really dont have the ability to just enjoy......anything.
I am proud of her. It's her first album and so much room to grow 💝
BITCH that concept is everything! She should hired you as a creative director
I said the same thing 😂😂 I was captivated
People are just crazy. Can we just leave it at that? I see a lot of potential in this album and I can’t wait to see what happens in the future. I just wish people would calm down, acting like they could do what she does. Karaoke night doesn’t count….
👏yep
I love this comment 🤣
😂😂😂😂
Zach should pin this comment lmaoo
For me the album is a BOP as well. It does take more than one time of listening to appreciate what Chloe has put out for us but it’s worth the attention. I would agree with you that not every song grabs me how I would want it to but I can feel the heart and soul that Chloe has put in to this album and I love it. I love her. Tickets purchased. And I will be singing along supporting my girl Chloe. 💖💖💖
Chloe’s Album for me did what it needed to do. It gave us a body of work that can help with the trajectory of her career. Chloe def needs to find her signature sound but the potential is there! A solid project with room to grow🔥. Also Chloe’s production and stacking of vocals was amazing! She def knows how to work her voice on a track.
“I wish you trusted your voice more”. You hit the nail on the head. I like the album though
In Pieces is such a good album!!! my first listen i wasn’t crazy love w it but after the second listen i felll in lovvvvvveeeeeee with it!!!! it’s such a great debut and people need to support her and give her credit!!!
Chloe still has so much more to show us and I hope she gets the chance to do so❤
Chloes album is good i love how it showcases her vocal talent. Its giving me toni braxton and keyshia cole vibes I love it.Its crazy how Adele debuted with a heartbreak album but yet no one trashed her because she was covered up and plus sized. Chloe is a beautiful talented queen i will always support her ❤️
Chloe needs to hire you to properly promote her things.
I mean, that’s what her label is for. She should not have to hire people outside of that. How would earn any money if she has to pay people to do the labels job?
I would have loved for Chloë to have gone the Janet Jackson ‘Control’ album route, where I got to feel like she was taking the reins. IDK i just felt like the narrative of heartbreak came out of nowhere so I couldn’t connect with it. I still loved I Don’t Mind and Body Do, and I really hope the album does well for her.
I really liked this album especially from how does it feel to the last song. “Feel me cry” has to be my favorite song on this album ❤️🔥 I feel like she did a good job and it’s her first solo album so for most of these songs to have replay value is good
There also seems to be a Chloe hate train as well. Like no matter what she does (i.e. Swarm show scene, collab with Chris Brown, and IG photos), she tends to receive more negative press than her peers and I'm not sure why.
Because no of those things are good for chole. No one wants to see her getting smashed. We want to shake our ass on the dance floor from chloes music. We don't want her with Chris, heck she should've choose usher or hell even drake. Chole should be doing live performances and promoting that on her IG, we don't need to see chole in dominatrix suit posing in front of the mirror. No one is hating on Chloe, we everyone Is saying that we want better for her. You can be sexy and still be classy, one isn't a contradiction to eachother. Chloe can easily become a mega superstar like the greatest before her but because she doesn't have the proper training. She's just walking around all daisy making terrible decisions.
I think you're right on the money by calling out the issue of chloe (or the label) not understanding who the target demographic for the new music is. As a duo, chloe and halle were making music with rich, emotional lyrics with a slightly challenging or more diverse sound then what other girls in the r&b scene were/are giving. Chloe popped out after Ungodly Hour, an album with admittedly more mature lyrics, giving an almost miley cyrus-level of left turn, over-featuring flamboyance without preparing the audience. The trashy pivot almost made sense for miley because she was partially coasting on the child-star-trainwreck narrative popularized by many before her. Chloe's pivot does not feel like it makes sense because 1) the sound is not as challenging as the music she and her sister made, 2) ungodly hour was not so much about sexual liberation as it was about navigating romantic pitfalls as a woman with standards, which also contributes to the weird lack of fit brought on by the 'have mercy' era, and 3) chloe was not joking or being controversial with the 'have mercy' era like miley was with the 'dead pets' era. She is being completely sincere. And you know what? I feel like I can't even say chloe can have a straightforward good-girl-gone-bad pivot because while she may be a good church girl type behind the scenes, Chloe x halle always felt a little grown or at least wise already. 'the kids are alright' was in no way hannah montana music. so it's altogether very confusing.
This was beautifully said
Also Chloe sweet personality doesn't match the fierce music she does, in my opinion. This is why she needs an alter ego like Beyonce does. I feel like when does music like Have Mercy and Treat Me she portraying another version of herself who we haven't been introduced to.
I think Chloe is a sexual person behind closed doors I think she does try and go with what the crowd likes and not what she likes though. She reminds me of brandy during full moon
You hit the nail on the head, if she came out with an alter ego like Sasha Fierce or a Nicki’s Roman. I think more people would’ve been intrigued and you can do A LOT with the roll out.
@@andreastory800 Yes but she's already dealing with people saying that she sold her soul so when you come out and say you take on a persona for certain times, people only bandwagon hate on her for 'supposedly being posessed.' Beyonce and Nicki could do because they were already becoming incredibly popular and so the blow back didn't hut thier success as hard.
I think Chloe is going through a slight identity crisis and that's understandable. "Have Mercy" didn't feel authentic either when compared to the work she did with her sister, and the songs from this album, for me they lacked authenticity because it just didn't feel like her. I think her management was too busy trying to make her mainstream as a solo too quickly and that's the problem! Success takes time, solo success takes even more time. I just wish Chloe leaned more into her own uniqueness and not try to make music to "pop off". Everyone who is now mainstream became mainstream by having a unique selling point. I hope her and her management take time to figure it out and I know she'll come back stronger.
Yes
This
I agreee
There's songs on the album that feel authentically her
Mercy was hot though. She wants to be a bad girl so bad lol
I didn't like the album personally (not my bag- I like faster stuff, less ballad etc love some of her singles) but her voice is always ON POINT and beautiful. I wish her enormous success! 🎉❤
This album is catered to the girl who undergoes her first breakup and still moves on. The last track is simply beautiful.
*I don’t understand* . Why are people off put by her vulgar lyrics? I can understand wanting her to sing more strong sentimental stuff cause her voice is beautiful, but calling her corny and stuff just people she wants to be sexual is wild to me. This album slaps and I’ll stand on that
Those people tend to speak as if they know her personally by saying things like “it’s not natural/it’s not her”. They think that because they watched her rise to where she is now, that they can say what she should and shouldn’t be doing. Chole is exploring herself as a woman and it’s gonna show in her work. People just need to chill and let her do her
@@yageshabazz3456 exactly. Then those same exact people will go and hype up the new little 20 year old rapper of the month who just raps about sex. It’s only a problem when girls wanna talk about that subject
Everyone doesn’t connect with that, and that’s ok. Nobody is asking Megan the stallion to change, be a stallion. But you can’t cry if people don’t connect with that part of you 🤷♀️
@@jasminewilliams1673 Megan the Stallion is a rapper who introduced herself as a Houston Hottie who twerks and makes explicit music. So we know what to expect from her. Chloe and Megan the Stallion are not in the same lane. It’s hard to believe a woman who claims to love Jesus and God start a song with “Do you ever wonder who’s fucking your man?” People are confused.
She didn't build that kind of fan base... she build the fan base that don't care for all that.... and the fan base she wants she doesn't have.. she transition to drastically and her orginal fan base doesn't like it
I love her album it's so good to me it's on repeat on my apple music Playlist
Chloe, this better not make you feel horrible, this album has liberated me in many ways and made me feel a lot of emotions❤❤! I felt the meaning and it seems like I’m one of the only ones! Ya know, I felt all the emotions with this album and I’m sad that you didn’t really like it. I felt she ate on this album, specifically vocals DOWN and production value. I thought it was a really good first album! Man, I freaking love this album, I have listened to it literally everyday. I’m shocked that you people don’t feel moved. “Make it look easy” makes me ugly cry! I have listened to this album everyday. This album was for me and I’m fine with that!
😢This album is what im looking for im a stan now i know her since " Do it " im so happy with this album because it doesnt sound too rnb and too pop just right with beautiful melody
When she was dropping Have Mercy and Treat Me, she was “doing too much”, so she pivoted away from the pop she was meant to do (like on “Body Do”) and got pressured back to R&B now she’s “trash”…I need those people to make
It make sense.
This!!! I've been saying she should keep leaning more pop. Her original singles felt more authentic to me, like she was having fun with her solo music. Folks kept trying to force her into the stereotypical R&B box and didn't support. Now her album is more of what the complainers seemed to be looking for and they still don't like it. Definitely doesn't make sense.
@@jassylady263 I agree I prefer her more pop songs like Have Mercy and Treat Me. The R&B type songs on this album don’t pack quite a punch as much for me. She should lean more into the pop sound.
Zach you ain’t never told a lie! And the way you articulate your point and also try to see different perspectives is the reason why I will always appreciate your videos!
ABSOLUTELY!!! This guy says everything I've been saying to myself. 🙌🏽
I guess I'm in the minority. I thought Chloe gave us a great debut. There was build up and anticipation with Have Mercy and Treat Me. Chloe is a triple threat with the acting, dancing, and voice. And how is the music flopping if it's # 1 on I Tunes R&B chart? And to say there was no promo is baffling to me. I have seen Chloe everywhere. Jimmy Kimmel, radio interviews, the digital cover of Cosmo, Essence Women in Hollywood, etc. Plus there's Swarm and Praise This adding to the momentum. Chloe can do uptempo songs and ballads without missing a beat. I see her being around for a long time if these thumb thugs don't get the best of her.
This!!!!
On the cool Chloe should hire you as to jump on her creative team you had some dope concepts! I loved the album! Can’t wait to see her live later this month
“But it’s broken in pieces so am I”😂😂😂😂
I literally bursted out laughing after he said that lmao 💀💀
Your video concept for In Pieces is everything! That would have been cute!!!!
The thing with this album is... She's already proved she can make a masterpiece with Ungodly Hour! For me this album is a decent collection of R&B tracks, but it feels a bit faceless and generic compared to the work she did with her sister. Like you said, it feels like I don't know who Chloe is. And maybe people shouldn't hold her to such a high standard, but she's proven she can exceed that standard in the past, which is why I think people are frustrated.
So Zach u hit the nail on the head for me. I feel like if we knew her story alittle bit we can understand where this album is coming from. And yesssss Heart on my Sleeve ate!!!!!! I really wish that song was longer frfr. Me personally I love How Does it Feel, cause I think her and Chris Brown’s voice meshes well together and it stays on repeat for me. It’s one of the ones that make me feel something. This album for me was okay. It wasn’t bad at all, I liked it. I just think first, people need to give her a true chance to grow and try new things. Second I feel like she definitely shoulda had a betta roll out. And third I want her to keep trying. Whitney Houston herself was boo’d and didn’t get her hit as soon as she came out, so Chloe stay encouraged sis cause ur time is coming! Imma bump the album and support u regardless. 💯‼️
I love how a lot of comments are here for Chloe first album. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 I really like this album. Give it time
damn your promo ideas were amazing!! at the end 👏👏
I agree Columbia dropped the ball and I totally don't understand why Chloe gets the hate she does. She's incredibly talented. I have sort of listened to In Pieces but I can't wait to sit down with a glass of wine and REALLY listen.
I haven’t listened to the entire album yet, but the songs I have heard are diverse in tone, and tempo. I think it’s a solid first project, and I’m happy she actually got to release it (*cough* Normani 🤧) I would love to see Cheatback or In Pieces do well on the charts, especially since people love to say they’re over her overly sexual nature in music. People are rude to her because of entitlement. Plain and simple. They think they know her and can say what is and isn’t appropriate for her. They don’t realize that she’s is growing up and finding herself; they just want to keep her in whatever box they have her in
Thank you 👏 Someone's smart and not a hater here :)
@AbdulChristopherr
Because people don't like her music does not mean their a hater...geez...her album was not good at all...unfortunately for chloe it won't go anywhere.
No fr!! Out of ppl that have been on solo paths for a min sis dropped an album at least! We’ve been WAITINGGGG on sis Normani for quite a while! Her team needs to do better. They keep pushing her album date which better mean they’re trying to solidify a great project to drop. And if not it’s like? Y’all could’ve just let her release an ep to hold us over for the good’t stuff.
@TheCRYSTALLURE normani has nothing to do with this....but since you brought her up..I rather for her to take years to make a good album then put out something whack.
@@HokieDokie0000 alright, so can you please tell me what is a « good album » to you since hers is not? Thank you. 🙏🏾
Make it look easy needs wayyyy more respect!! I can feel the pain in every word
Zachhhhhhh I can see the toy store visionnnn. And the intro track could’ve definitely been playing in the back, all the dolls could’ve been singing “chlooooooeeeee, chloooooooooeeeeeeee” but the doll in pieces catches her attention. And then the rest like u said with them tellin her ,oh no this doll is broken. ahhhhh yessss
I am OBSESSED with MAKE IT LOOK EASY! I can’t believe you made no mention hunnyyyyy!!!
That one on repeat for me 🙌
GREAT CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM! I hope that if she sees this she completely understands that this is coming from a place of love. I feel the exact same way, you hit everything on the nail for me 🙌🏾
I loved Worried, that was one I knew I would go back to. I also like Pray It Away, and Told Ya. I feel like she did a good job, and songs like Body Do align with her “demo” I feel. My biggest critique is that the album was so damn short, like I couldn’t really get into most songs because they were quick, I think she could’ve poured a bit more and made them longer. Not too much on Chloe tho, this is her first album and she’s still finding herself as an artist. She’ll be alright 💚
Yessss, I knew from the beginning Worried, I don’t mind and Pray It Away would’ve been the ones I went back to😩. The songs def should’ve been longerrrr
congratulations to Chloe she really did that. I'm selfishly yearning for pop Chloe and I'm just not getting the vibes but I love how cohesive the sound of her album is, I love her and I'll be here forever
The album to me was unorganised and rushed. She leaked so many of her songs and it took away from the excitement of the album dropping. I want her to find her lane, her sound and grow in it instead of trying to do what works for other people. She needs a redo.
many new solo artists did not get the numbers y'all are clowning her about! It takes time to get a hit! I heard many say this is a no skip album. I don't know all the ins and outs of making music, but I do know a good song when I hear one! even people that are complaining have found at least or 1 or 2 songs that they do like. If the album was that bad, they would not like any! people need to stop criticizing Chloe and give her time to grow just like you did for the other artists on their debut. remember, (Have Mercy)had a slow start and it still went platinum! don't count her out yet!
My point is she lead with songs like “Surprise”, “Treat Me”, and “Have Mercy”. Even the visuals she gave us were specific to those songs/rollout. There was just a 360 somewhere and she totally shifted her direction. Although she didn’t connect with the old songs Zac was referring too she still should’ve released those because it would’ve allowed us to learn more about her. She’s absolutely talented but she has to remember that telling the story is what really makes music …music.
This
I just know RCA looking at Normani like this is why we're holding it back...YIKES! These girls are so talented but music sales aint what it just to be, that's why Latto out here with an Apple radio deal LOL! the market is so oversaturated with new music so fast. I do like some tracks of in pieces, but the rollout was messy, the singles were thrown out there to try to find a footing, the track listing is inconsistent, its a little mess.
RCA bout to tell Normani to do upbeat songs on heavy rotation 😅
I saw Chloe first night in Chicago. I have to say I wasn’t an immediate fan, but after hearing the songs live. Wow. The album has been on repeat ever since.
I was her target audience then because I loved Pray it Away, Cheatback has been on replay nonstop, Make it Look Easy and Told Ya, are on their own playlist shuffle 🤷🏽♀️🙌🏽 Dunno why it hit for me but I do respect that not everyone vibes maybe as much as I did on those tracks 💕♥️
To go with my other post, This is the Sequence i feel like would have grounded the project even more and complimented the season its being released in. Try making a playlist of her music in this order if youre not sold yet on Chloe as an artist:
1. For the Night (feat Lotto)
2. Treat Me
3. Have Mercy
4. I Dont Mind
5. Someones Calling (Interlude)
6. Feel Me Cry
7. How does it feel? (feat Breezy)
8. Worried **
9. Body Do
10. Looze U
11. Pray it Away
12. Heart on my Sleeve (interlude)
13. Make it Look Easy
14. In Pieces…
** I would add Halle Bailey to this song. Its the most “Chloe & Halle” sounding song from the set and the song pertains to both of them especially right now.
Either way, GREAT JOB Chloe!!! You have enough great music out for people to enjoy and i hope they really give it a chance. ❤️🔥😘
The way I be streaming chloe's even when I go to bed. Volume down but from 10-6 in the morning. I love her work and can't wait to see what else she does.
I always say you would make an AMAZING A&R Like you really see the whole artistic picture fr, like girl someone needs to hire you to be apart of their team cause like you just be seeing the vision!
I feel that way as well! Some of the songs clearly ate but it also sounds like she is still figuring out her sound. Love this step for her but hate that it seemed to be rushed to be pushed so soon. The songs she’s dropped leading up to this point definitely set a bar so for this project to not really have any true singles pushed is definitely surprising. All in all. I adore Chloe’s talents and she has such gifted abilities to be THAT GURL as she gets to her true essence as a solo artist!
FINALLY I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THE REVIEW YESSSS
You’re a whole visual/art director Zachary 😭🔥🔥!! Chloe hire him NOW
Chloe should just make music for herself and what she loves, let chloe be chloe. Great debut album, exciting to hear more from chloe in future
She won’t be doing it if she’s only selling 10k first week 😵💫
I agree that Chloe should make music she likes and connects with, but making music with only herself in mind won't translate to good sales or awards.
But thats what makes it authentic, people love it for who they are. Think as long chloe stays consistent in producing content and quality she be alright. Still early in her career and has lot of potential
@@CatACor21.he can just go independent if her label drops her for her album underperfoming. She is well established enough to do it and will have better control.
@@CatACor21. who cares fr? then keep making music for the 10k people who love it. she is an artist and she dont have to change who she is or the music and art she feels in her heart for the love of the masses. people die miserable and unhappy simply appealing and not being true to themselves.
Zach, im gonna need you to become Chloes manager! You get it, you understand what we needed. I was waiting for the weird other worldly ballads. I felt like some songs didn’t feel like her. I liked it, but i LOVE her voice. I love listening to her sing. I just feel like the music wasnt good enough for her voice. I wanted to feel immersed in Chloe’s new universe and I was left wanting more at the end. Like I didnt feel fully fed or something? But everything you said I agree with.
I honestly loved the album! I've been listening on repeat since it dropped. I'm not really understanding what people are missing. I feel like its a solid body of work and the fact that she produced nearly every record on the album! Give my girl her flowers! I think this is one of the albums that's going to blow up and have everybody backtracking what they said.
Frrr
I feel like this is the same thing Beyoncé went through when she first became a solo artist. I remember girls not liking her at ALL because she was “too much” and this was in the late 90’s/2000’s with no social media. If she stays off the innanet she’ll be fine. She’s an icon in the making 🤷🏾♀️ she’s just gotta keep her head down and keep working 💕
Dangerously in Love was a global multi-platinum chart topping hit right out the gate. Won multiple grammys too. Lets stop with the revisionist history
She barely stumbled with her debut album. Work out stumbled but the very next single went no.1 and so did the next single after that. Then she won a load of Grammys. So I don’t think it’s the same 😅
Ehhh idk about right out the gate…as a body of work it is excellent but it still took almost 6 months to go platinum. She had hits yes but the mainstream reception back then was lukewarm. And Beyoncé put in WORK to promote the album. But one thing about the Queen was that she knew her audience and she toured her butt off and earned her spot. Chloe can do the same but ultimately the same people that said Beyoncé was doing too much are the same people talking about Chloe today and if she tunes them out and keep her circle tight, I still say we have an icon in the making 💃🏾
@@PrincessAmmanii Dangerously in Love Debuted at #1 and Crazy in Love was #1 for 8 weeks. This is NOTHING like Beyonce’s experience. Chloe might not even debut in the top 150 on the Billboard 200 next week. The label has spent well 1 Million to produce and promote this project but at the end of the day she didnt deliver any hits. Thats it.
TRUTH
Yesssss Zach that on the fly video concept you did that 😂😍
Zach you ATE for the visual rollout demo ! You need to be sending her some of these ideas
You are saying so much of what I’ve been thinking. I love Chloe and think she is one of the best of this generation. My standouts are Make It Look Easy, Cheatback, Worried, and Body Do. Many of the other songs had potential to be great but I feel that she didn’t go deep enough and I wasn’t able to fully connect and relate. Make It Look Easy is such a powerful song and is proof that she can bare her soul. I also question if maybe I’m not even the demographic she was trying to reach but regardless I love her. I think for her next album she needs to unplug from social media and trust in her talents and creativity. She needs to keep this confidence she has and bring us the masterpiece we know she is capable of .
I think .. until Beyonce announces retirement they aren't gonna take her seriously at Parkwood ... Chloe is a icon in the making, she just needs some tender love and care
I don't think that is the issue. This misconception everyone has is that parkwood is the gatekeeper to her career when in reality chloe is actually signed to columbia records and parkwood entertainment.
I was personally expecting a very upbeat, turnup album. I love Chloe and wish her nothing but the best. Definitely ready for more upbeat music. Hopefully the Industry doesn't drop her. She has amazing potential
The fact that I didn’t even know that she dropped an album like there’s no talk not even on tiktok
I missed you Zach !!!!!
I feel like we weren’t set up to expect a breakup album by the singles that were chosen either.
This omg
This album could’ve been shelved and saved for a later time. It seems like whatever she’s been through she still hasn’t fully recovered from. I wish she would’ve released her self titled album and gave the girls the extra just like in have mercy so the world could see this is who she wants to be now and is comfortable in her skin and sound. Also timing has a lot to do with it, it’s approaching summer; Have mercy and treat me could’ve been apart of the project because at the end of the day she’s still speaking about relationships. If we don’t get a video for Body do then they don’t know her target audience. IMO the “album” was rushed this was not the project she was excited about last year before. I do like a lot of the songs; heart on my sleeve should’ve been a full song, however the song I was most anticipating with missy just didn’t do it for me, it didn’t come together sonically for me. 7/10
Feel me cry, body do, worried and heart on my sleeve has done it for me but I was really excited for Chloe so I might have loved anything she gave 🤣
The songs grow on you and I agree with Zach that doll store concept would be soo cool ✨✨💗
Thanks for your honesty Zach. You made some valid points But In Pieces was number one on iTunes r&b/ soul chart and a hit globally. I think Chloe did a fine job on her debut album. I’m disappointed with the lack of promo from her record company. The sales would have been much better if Chloe’s mentor, Beyoncé had gave it the push it deserved. I have In Pieces on repeat and can’t wait to see her on tour in Detroit!
Actually Melanie Martinez was number 1
@@iamjaCosta actually Chloe was number one on iTunes R&B/ soul chart
@@maatsunyeah but u said it was a global hit…when it wasn’t…
Melanie was no.1 in general/global so…
@@joshua2764 are you trying to minimize black music? Melanie may have been #1 on THAT chart but Chloe was #1 on the r&b chart. Melanie was not. So…
Beyoncé is not the CEO of Colombia. Parkwood is a MANAGEMENT and production company. Colombia is where you need to ask those things.
Chloe's such a dope gworl as a person and as an artist and its weird to me how people try to dog her. I believe because it's her first album it just the beginning for her. She got this. The ones being nasty to her need to ask themselves one question and seriously sit with it: Can I do what Chloe did but better? If the answer is no then chill on her.
I thought you was gonna let her slide but you said everything I was thinking about this album 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾💓💓💓 Zac this is why we love you, hold everybody accountable.
