Only thing that gets me out of bed is the whistle of the Andy Griffith show. I have my tv set to turn on when the show comes on. My depression leaves when Andy comes on.
What a nice idea! I have to admit, the sound of Andy's whistle might be the only very close second to the morning aromas of freshly baked biscuits and sizzling bacon. ❤️👋🏻
When I was pregnant with my son I had bad insomnia, so I watched Andy Griffith all night for many nights. It was calming & if you’re nervous you can watch it and you’re calm. Lol
This is an amazing interview. To be able to have Andy Griffith speak his autobiography for all time is an awesome gift of the technology we sometimes curse.
I'm a person loveto laugh, watching Andy and Don, God rest their souls, they're the funniest guys i've ever seen. I'm glad they're still remembered, i watch them many nights. R.I.P.
A few months ago I discovered that there is a restaurant in Mt Airy called Snappy Lunch. Andy references this in the show asking Barney to do thus and so and then they will go to Snappy Lunch. I thought he meant a fast lunch at the diner they always went to. It turned out Snappy Lunch was one of Andy's favorite places growing up.
i really wish i had the opportunity to have met him. great actor, wonderful singer and seemed like a great person. miss him and never met him not fair :(
Interestingly when Andy Griffith says that it was Fred Silverman's decision to move production of matlock from California presumably Los Angeles to Wilmington North Carolina. Los Angeles California, and Wilmington North Carolina is very nearly on the exact line of latitude north of the equator. So in effect Los Angeles is directly west of Wilmington North Carolina or if they were both on the pacific coast or Atlantic coast they would be right next to each other.
*I wonder how popular "The Andy Griffith Show" is outside the USA--and especially outside the English-speaking World. I've lived in three countries in Europe where English is a foreign language--and in one Asian country, where nearly nobody understands English. No one in any of this countries has even heard of Griffith's most popular show. Does anyone here have similar (or different) experiences?*
He was nothing like the person he played most who knew him said he had a bad temper and was hard to work with and treated the cast bad and was cold to most
Did they ever say what happened to Andy's wife/Ope's Mom? I know that they wrote him as a widower but I don't know if they ever said what happened to her/how she died/what she died from... Did I miss something?
No it was never mentioned, the only time anything said was on the very first episode on the Danny Thomas show when he told ope that we should deal with loosing our love ones , Andy said he had to deal with losing ope’s mother.
No, it was never mentioned what had happened to her; in those days, tv series, especially sitcoms usually stayed away from certain topics, & death was one of them, they just did Not want to deal with it.

Andy Griffith was and will always be a legend!! RIP Andy

I grew up with both Matlock and The Andy Griffith Show.

If any American humorist deserves a Mark Twain award,
it's Andy Griffith.
Andy was still just a good ol' boy.
Dont be rude
@@SHRIMPO_HATES_EVERYTHING_DWFAN Saying someone is a good ol' boy is not rude it is a good thing in the southern United States.
I'm in the process of buying all seasons of Andy's show, I can't find season 4 for sale on UA-cam though
Look on Amazon, they are all on there. You can also find Matlock, no time for sargeants, and what it was was football

Andy! !
Had no idea he acted on Broadway...
It's great to see a guy who did not succumb to fame and fortune.
I had a brief taste of it and did not handle it well at all!!!

That dog is the RCA Victor Mascot (usually displayed with a megaphone) - another piece of Ralph's memorabilia.
