I absolutely love the Andy Griffith show! I still watch it to this day but it seems to me the host of the show hasn’t really seen all of the episodes because it seems he had a hard time even finding questions to ask. Watching this I had tons of questions I would’ve wanted to ask and I would’ve been in complete awe to see all of these people that I grew up watching standing right in front of me.
Gosh! I always wondered if that was really her voice or her actually singing on The Andy Griffith Show and now I know it was her beautiful voice. What I wish he would have asked her was if it was pre-recorded and lip synched or was it really done live. Regardless, it was so wonderful to hear her sing that beautiful tune! She still sounded and looked the same. Just an *older* version of herself. Way to go, Charlene Darling!
Rodney Dillard once said that the songs were all recorded in a record studio a day or two before filming. On the set they would play it on a big record player connected to the sound and they would just play and sing along with it to make it look live
One of the funniest things I ever saw on the show was when the Darlings had dinner at Andy's house and they were passing the plate of bread around. One of the Darlings - I believe it was the banjo player, clumsily dropped a few slices on his plate and one even fell off the plate and he sort of pushed it back on to the plate. Watch it. It's hilarious. Of course then. Mr. Darling yells "BREAD!" And the guitar player with his mouth always agape.
I remember how deadpan the Dillards were in the show but I believe Ralph Emery has them beat. A little more appreciative laughter would have helped. The cast was trying so hard to be humorous in a tough situation. Geez, couldn't someone have helped Goober push that car! Still, it was great to see and hear them,
..they still have it....1 of the best bluegrass bands ive ever heard now granted bluegrass aint my thing...see my username but i can and do appreciate GOOD REAL musicians...somthing ALOT of music is in low supply these days
Charlene got it wrong, Bob Denver was not in the episode where they were snoring in the cabin (Mountain Wedding), he was in the episode Divorce Mountain Style, when Charlene came to town to get a divorce.
Ralph Emery says "I don't remember seeing Bob Denver in this. Somebody told me this." I'm sorry, but so far it seems like Mr. Emery never even saw the show. He seems so dumbfounded and lost and confused and not sure where he's at or who these people are...almost like he's just making these questions up as he goes along. Jiminy Christmas if you're gonna do an entire show dedicated to one of the greatest shows of all time, at least study it some so you can ask intelligent questions about it!
He’s a horrible interviewer, he was kinda mumbling a bit. He used uh a lot, like didn’t you read over what you’re gonna ask them before interviewing them? He didn’t even obviously have any ideas of what to ask them
He is insightful in bringing out the questions people wish to know. He puts people at ease, everyone forgets a name here or there, even your teacher! Remember ? Uh uh uh....Waldo what's your question??
Ralph is pretty much a dip $hit when it comes to the andy griffith show. He (ralph) did the same stupid $hit when otis and rafe hollister were on the show.
She said here that Bob Denver was in the episode they were referring to about “the boys” snoring…. That’s a mistake, the other Dud Wash was in that one I remember him arguing with Ernest T! Bob Denver was in the wedding curse episode (where Barney was the “Black rider” on the horse (east to west!)😂 I remember Bob Denver circlyAndy saying”I’ll fight you here I’ll fight you there routine. I remember as a kid wondering why was Gillian on Andy Griffith😂
Old Ralph is 86 now, hopefully he's too old to use U-tube cause the comments are brutal. Damn I never noticed how bad he was when I used to watch this with my parents.
Hey charlene lol love you hon. I thought bob denver played in the white horse curse episode not mountain wedding I could be wrong or maybe I just heard it wrong ernest t bass was in the cabin where everyone was snoring he sang to you with that gas can lol I watch andy g most nights and fall asleep with it on.
Denver Pyle was Briscoe Darling. Bob Denver was Dud Walsh in one episode titled "Divorce Mountain Style". Which aired on March 30, 1964. The first episode of Gilligan's Island aired later in the year on September 26,1964 for the 1964-65 TV season . Actor Hoke Howell, who originated the role of Dud Wash, wasn't cast in this episode because this was the year CBS launched "Gilligan's Island," and they wanted to promote the new show by casting Bob Denver.
Hoke howell was in two episodes one was the very first time The Darlings appeared on Andy Griffith when Dud came home from the Army also Hoke howell was in mountain wedding Charlene got confused on the interview. Hoke Howell played a great Dud that expression on his face when he was coming off the bus arriving in Mayberry was priceless I still laugh to think about it. Bob Denver was in one episode where Charlene was divorcing dud because he was looking at another woman in church. Hoke Howell is by far my favorite Dud LOL.
AU yea that Mtn Home Wedding song was the best instrumental jam they did ! + at 4:20 ""But i don't want Doug a want heem - You shurrr are perty preserved - How bout if a cook you n yur gunhand up som dinner - we're havin' saurkraut with hogback + fishmuttle"" LOLs
Oh, wow. I'd forgotten how much I disliked Ralph Emery! He was always somewhere else when talking with people... zoned out, as if he did NO show prep! Or like he's concentrating on sounding like he's still on the radio. I'm so embarrassed for the players... he keeps calling them by their CHARACTER names! That's what happens, I guess, when you take a radio DJ and throw him in front of a camera.
Yes you're right my wife and I watch this and was astonished at Ralph Emery he needs to stick with radio I listen to him for years on radio that's his thing but like you said he's zoned out.
Since the intros at the beginning of the show listed the character names and the people were dressed as their characters, it makes perfect sense that he carried that theme throughout the show.
I was SO shocked and very saddened to read how the actor Hal Smith (Otis Campbell) died. On January 28, 1994 at the age of 77, Smith's son Terry was riding as a passenger when Smith suffered a heart attack while driving lost control and crashed into a building. Both Smith and Terry were killed.
ROFL. You have a nice imagination. That's NOT what Wikipedia says. It says that he died at his home of a heart attack in 94 while he was listening to a nightly drama hour on the radio, and that his son died in 98.
I used to watch Ralph Emery on mornings. Back then he was bald and had a beard. He got the hair transplant, and lost the beard. Had something go wrong which left his face off, but don't know what. . Was better looking with the beard
I would like the show if the host was not there. Horrid host. Sorry, but it is true. If I heard he was a drunk or drug addict that would help me understand his lack of skill. Wow. Now I know why I never heard of the show, while growing up in the north, we would break our televisions if stuff like this had to fill our evening entertainment slot.
born and am a new englander..Faithfully loved hee- haw...don't have to be from mayberry to appreciate the clean humor, and subliminal messages of this show!! Live clean, love your wife and kids, and bust out a bluegrass real once in awhile- aint nuthin' wrong with that!
The episodes with the Darlings are my favorite. I watch them over and over. Never tire of the music. Charlene was cute as a button. 💕
The worst Andy Griffith episode is 10 times better than what they put out now.
I absolutely love the Andy Griffith show! Ralph Emery was horrible

I just found this. Thank you so much for posting it... If they could only make shows like this again.
Margaret Ann "Maggie" Peterson is one of the sweetest people that you will ever meet.
That song makes me cry.
LOL
Almost as much as "Never Hit Your Grandma with a Great Big Stick"!
One of the funniest things I ever saw on the show was when the Darlings had dinner at Andy's house and they were passing the plate of bread around. These people are so talented. So much has changed in TV - it's a shame.
Thank god my dad showed me these great shows that he grew up with.
Pick the worst episode from that show and it'll be 10 times better than anything today.
We finally get to hear those guy's voices! 😊
Charlene looks great
Carola Wingert She looks like a (young) Jane Fonda....same facial features.
They were great and I still love them all.
I remember when the Darlings first came to Mayberry and Charlene said to her Pa, "Pa, can't I just look at the pretty man". LoL.
Pa, can't we take him home?
While filling his car up with water from a horse troft lol
@@Maddenuser Briscoe said it took 11 hat fulls. lol
She has a beautiful voice
The episodes where they had the dillards were my favorites. Thery were very, very good musicians
Denver Pyle was hilarious too as the Dad.
My least favorites. Slapstick is not funny.
Maggie was born in 1941. This show aired in 1991. My gosh she looks good. My boyhood crush has been rekindled.
Maggie is so sweet. Love her.
I had no idea that Hal Smith did cartoon character voices. Amazing talent!
Absolutely 💯!!! Grt job!!!!
I think he was the voice of Barney Rubble in some of the cartoons.
The The Dillards.. R.I.P. Mitch and Doug
I remember how deadpan the Dillards were in the show but I believe Ralph Emery has them beat. A little more appreciative laughter would have helped. The cast was trying so hard to be humorous in a tough situation. Geez, couldn't someone have helped Goober push that car! Still, it was great to see and hear them,
Yeah Ralph seemed lost IDK
My fav people...Im binge watching...over and over, just makes my day...laughter
bob denver was in the episode when charlene was getting a divorce.
I love The Darling Family!
Ralph didn't seem to really know what he was talking about most of the time.
Andy - "Well I think that's the prettiest thing I ever heard"
i am just an old man now but if you ever read this. know that one always carried the torch.
I was so in love with Charlene Darling when I was a boy! I wanted to be Ernest T. Bass in real life too.
When did you become sane ?
It's never too late to throw a rock.
Yea, she was my boyhood crush for sure, and...I did break a window or two.
They should have kept the Darlings in every season they where perfect addition to the show
@Mike Davis LMAO OH OK LOL
What a treat ! Great video.
Always loved the episodes with the Darling's in them.
The darlings were too much! too idiotic.
She's still cute!
Love the Andy Griffith cast!!!!
They were great and I still love them all.. Love the Andy Griffith cast!!!!.
After Briscoe names a song. "Oh know Pa that one makes me cry"
That banjo music makes me so happy.
Ralph did absolutely no preparation for this show. Lol
She mis spoke bob Denver was in the one where she was going to get a divorce and barney had to ride a white horse east to west lol
love it . God bless them.
..they still have it....1 of the best bluegrass bands ive ever heard now granted bluegrass aint my thing...see my username but i can and do appreciate GOOD REAL musicians...somthing ALOT of music is in low supply these days
I get this comment was made 7 years ago lmao but you should look into hank williams 3 hes like a cross between bluegrass country and rock
Charlene got it wrong, Bob Denver was not in the episode where they were snoring in the cabin (Mountain Wedding), he was in the episode Divorce Mountain Style, when Charlene came to town to get a divorce.
the Dillards kick ass love bluegrass

He was a huge fan and watched the show religiously. I remember fondly watching it with him all the time.
@@michaelemery735 l can hardly believe it based on the question he asked.

Thank you.i remmber the show with them.
Love Maggie aka Charlene! She was the perfect woman for Dub.
Great music!!
Loved her singing!
I'm not sure Ralph EVER saw the show with some of the goofy questions he asked.

THATS ODD..I ALWAYS THOUGHT IT WAS DENVER PLYE, "UNCLE JESSE" FROM THE DUKES OF HAZZARD..
I COULD BE WRONG.....

I LOVE THE DARLINGS
Met Maggie Peterson a few years ago, at Mayberry day in Westminster SC
And apparently the audience and Mr. Emery are in the same boat
Like the history of this
How the hell did this guy get his own show?
I don’t know he is pretty not good lol
He was a very famous radio dj, obviously Many years ago.
Totally agree!! He is not good!!
Really! He's terrible.
His style was the norm for the times
Bob Denver was not in Mountain Wedding, he was in Divorce Mountain Style.
Bob Denver? I never knew he was on TAGS at all. Do you mean Denver Pyle?
I love them so very much too.🥰❤❤❤❤❤
6:53 "Man, I'm nailin' this segment."
You are so right!!!!!!
I really wish mr. darlin' coulda been there :(
The awesome Dillards!!
This is so awesome....I own all the eps of TAGS..best show
The show would have been better if the interviewer hadn't been talking in his sleep.
I wanted to be Ernest T. Bass but I was a bad rock thrower!!
The Dillards version of this song with out Charlene is a classic.
What is the name of this song? It's very nice.
When was this reunion ?

He even said he had a hangover

Wow, I’m really surprised she sang that song. Only because it usually makes her cry. 🤔😆🤣
R.I.P Maggie darling
Food memory 💖💖💖💖💖💖
Boy, Ralph Emery is barely making it
Still a great song.
Wow seeing this "reunion" was so long ago is hauntingly sad. Life is so short.
What's the answer? Enjoy today
Ralph Emery was getting pretty old by then and probably needed to retire.
He was an old 58.
Blue grass, great American original
@0:43...l believe "Charlene" got a little choked at this point over the memories.
The Whipper will!
Maggie is a pro, and Ralph Emery is just awful!
I soooo agree
The path is new:The world is free.
Weres Ralph hollister
looks about 1990
That host is terrible , how did he ever get on TV..
Omg..a Goddess
If I see one I'll give it the right of way
Ralph Emery should have never been on TV....Worst host in history
