- When your hair is thinning and you are starting to go bald, when should you decide to shave your head? Recently I noticed my hair was beginning to really thin and I had developed several bald spots. After messing with my hair for months I decided to shave my head. Since then, I have learned some lessons and wanted to share my thoughts on when a balding man should shave his head.

Dude you already shaved it, just keep it shaved. You look much better that way and there's nothing worse than a guy who is visibly balding trying to keep his hair.

You need a new barber dude. Just shorten it and style it differently. It only looks bad when you're trying to wear a style that you do not have enough hair volume to support.

Yep exactly. That’s what I was trying to say in the video, no need to over react, you(the person worrying about their balding head) probably notice it more than anyone else and it’s not as bad as you (the person balding) are probably making it out to be. Thanks man!
Generally, 70% of men lose their hair but can rock a full thick beard. The remaining 30% of men can grow a full head of hair but grow patchy beards. I’m sure there are exceptions to this rule.

Believe my bald head, you made the right decision, you look far better with this bald and bearded look than before. Maintain your dome smooth with lather and blade.
Given the round shape of youhead, you should perhaps try to replace you full beard by a goatee or to trim it shorter on the sides.
I did just that last night, I think it does look much better. Good advice!
I saw a walmart manager today desperately trying to cover his bald spot by gelling his hair down. It was litterally stuck to his head. He was a really good looking guy but was still trying to holding on to that piece of hair. Theres nothing wrong with being bald. Most bald guys I've seen look good.

When I started going bald I shaved my head and I loved it because it suited me and it's more masculine looking.

Pete Privitere guys think they look better with a buzzed/shaved head. I’ve got over the peer pressure of buzzing. When I grew my out, my girlfriend was surprised that I had hair. She thought I couldn’t grow hair and that’s why I buzzed it.
It actually didn’t look that bad before you shaved it, but your hair is a lighter color. I have jet black hair, making my balding spot more visible.
This ONLY works if it actually suits you to be bald! Being pale skinned with light eyebrows does NOT work well with this lol. I have a lot of hair but my crown is thinning. Going bald isn't an option for me as even stylists have told me it won't suit me.
Which is why virtually every "head shaving is great" video is a guy with a bold beard and well defined eyebrows :p
When I got my thinning hair shaved off the neighbours said I looked much better.
Where I live skinheads are the norm rather than the exception.

The only bad part about shaving your head is the lack of a tan. But that will change over less than a month if you keep shaving it off.
I was 50 before I finally mustarded up the courage to use a 3mm and cut it off. Wished I had done it 20 years earlier.
I like this handsome, hot and sexy bald look with facial hair! Great decision! Generally beautiful people don't need hair. :-)
To be honest, I thought the same as you about your hair not looking that bad to begin with. When the video started, I was like, "Why's he shaving that?" Having it wet and long-ish obviously makes it look worse.
Even though you looked fine with it shaved, (especially once the top of your head had gotten a bit of colour), I kinda hope you grew it back, kept it shorter and started using a dry-look product like a paste or a matte wax.
with that kind of beard you could rock any hairstyle. looking reaaally good shaved though! I wish I had a proper beard, so I could shave my head too

I'm 28 and I'm already starting to bald at the hairline and i also have some gray hairs, i guess I'll join team bald.

Strugle for me is the patchy stubble and punk spirit that wants to just let it grow out.

Im at the basically the same point where you are here now and I'm still on the fence about shaving it, the front is receded but still pretty thick whete it is. If I wasnt taking Rogaine id prob be due for the shave though and im debating just shaving and stopping Rogaine.

You looked way better with hair, but I know you felt way worse. Honestly, you have nice hair and it shapes your face well front and back, but top is bad, I agree. I wouldn't be able to resist shaving it if I were you, especially after a bad day or when really tired or frustrated. Politicians are a good guide. They aren't stupid, and they have some of the most ridiculous comb-overs out there.

Also i did the samd as you, im 27 and i buzzed it recently, havent shaved it in two weeks, looks very fuzzy, any tips on growing it out?
I started growing mine back out but after comparing my hair to past pictures it was getting worse, so I buzzed it with no guard. I’ve grown used to it now and prefer it this way for the time being

Use some hair fibre product, it works well for diffuse thinning like your hair.

This is a woman's perspective on young men shaving heads. Sorry, you all look like the pinheads that you are. If you go bald with age it is like your hair turning grey. There is a time for it as you grow older. So don't try to fool yourselves, you are not better looking bald and young. You are not more macho. My god hair transplants are so cheap now and they totally work. I think losing your hair is like a bad break up with a girl you really love. You know at some point you can't have her...so you just dump her (shave your head). Then you never look back...but guess what you CAN get her back...all of her. Hair transplants are like $3900.00 now. ..and they are forever ... unless you like shaving your damn head every day for the rest of your life !.

It’s easier to shave your head the more hair you lose. I hate the old man look with bald top and hair on sides and back, even though I lived with it a long time as my hair thinned on top. I like it buzzed 0 now or bald shaved. I’m also lazy and don’t want to blade shave daily. Every 7~10 days is good. I can do a 0 buzz pretty quickly so if I’m in a hurry I go with that. I feel comfortable with both and since I do it myself now due to the pandemic, I can do what I ;Ike at any time without waiting for a barber. It’s very freeing and I’ve learned a lot through UA-cam tutorials. I feel much better!n

We live in a time where we have the time, money and leisure to sit around worrying about whether to shave our heads, whether to grow a beard or both. I could imagine a time long ago when men did things out of necessity not choice.
