    I recently read the book The War Of Art a brilliant book and I highly recommend it.
    The War Of Art:amzn.to/2mhjGog
    There are a few key principles in the book that can really relate to guys who are going bald and wanting to take that step of shaving their head and moving on from it.
    - The more you fear shaving off that thin hair, the more you can know it's something that you know will benefit you.
    -As the time comes closer and the want to shave it off and move on grows bigger, so will that fear.
    - It's normal to fear this change because you are moving to a higher and more positive place with the hair loss.
    - As you show others you are going to tackle your insecurity they will show push back known as "Envy driven criticism"
    - A lot of guys will feel like they need to change something about themselves before taking this step of shaving their head. This is really just a distraction from the more difficult task. Take the head shaving step first. The other good stuff will follow.
    - Watch out for yourself consuming products, especially those that promise the dream of giving you your hair back. This is just another convenient distraction from the more difficult but rewarding task of shaving that balding hair and moving on from hair loss.

    It's harder to know when to shave when you're balding at a slower rate. I've been balding for 10+ years, but still have enough hair to warrant keeping it. It sounds weird, but some days I wish it'd all just fall out quicker, then I'd be forced to accept the shaved look and move on instead of dragging out the uncertainty (I know I will be bald, but will it take another 10 years? or 5? or 2? no idea).
    I can't complain too much though...aggressive balding in your 20s is a rough hand to be dealt with, but at least it forces you to adapt. Right now I'm torn between enjoying hair while I can, but with the burden of knowing that I'm still balding, albeit slowly.

      Im a barber with over 40 years behind the chair. I have also been shaving my head for over 20 years, when your ready you will know it. Relax it will be fine. Once you do shave it you will feel great. Its liberating and empowering. When your ready have your barber do it. You do you bro.

    • @HiddenFormula
      @HiddenFormula 5 років тому +2

      @@russellbogrett605 Yeah, true... I see that a good barber can still make a receding hairline look good up to nw3 (as long as you embrace the hairline, not hide it) but as soon as the front starts to really thin or the crown gets bad I'll be ready for a shaved look

    • @Baldcafe
      @Baldcafe  5 років тому +10

      I would guess that it will continue to just slowly thin at a similar rate to the last 10 years. A very interesting point of view. Id say keep rocking it until you don't like it anymore or its bugging you too much.

      @@malcolmx4744 there are lots of challenges people face in life, which trigger depression -not just loosing hair. For me it was triggered when my company closed, and I went back to Uni, working and studying while trying to care for my family. The moment to shave it off is when the balding is inside of your head instead of on it. When your day is dictated by thinking about it constantly is when the time has come. I did it faily early, because I was constantly worrying about it and couldn't really enjoy what I had left, which was pretty much an almost full head of hair with slight thinning back then. Do it when the time is right for you and if you are fine with having thinning hair and don't spend a thought on it, then don't shave. Don't let others dictate what you do. You'll face negative comments in the beginning, I am not gonna sugarcoat that, but people will adapt to your new look and so will you and more sooner than later those negative comments will turn into positive compliments as your confidence rises. I almost couldn't believe on how my very negative reactions in the beginning have changed into praise, not only because I had the balls to do it, but also because the look suits me damn well. Balding sucks, but being bald is awesome!

    I would say it depends on the person and the amount of recession. Sometimes a receded hairline works for some people, such as stephen a smith. As much as people poke fun at his hairline and hairstyle, it actually suits him and his loud/dramatic personality.

    This is an interesting point of view but in my case I found it liberating to save my hair. My hair is what I grew up with so it had become apart of my identity, losing it as a young man made me feel like I was losing a part of my identity and I was being forced by my genetics to conform to a new version of myself that I didn't like. Using finasteride and getting hair transplants helped me reclaim the identity that I felt was being taken away from me and in turn restored my confidence and mental well being. You look good Baldcafe but the bald look isn't for everybody and I can say that in all of my years fighting hair loss that I regret nothing and I'm glad I didn't "just shave it bro."

    • @Bondfinesse

      Taking drugs and hair transplants is not what we are about here, we are about embracing the truth, shaving the balding hair and living life post hair. Anything else is not accepting the truth.
