That's the only camera i would trade my pocket for (except Arris ofc), excited to see your opinion and content about it.
I wouldn't based just off accessories cost and usability. Braw is super easy to work with, shooting on SSD cards, etc. And for the price of this you could get an A and B 6k camera.

@@davidlovephotog2 Yeah the value is unbeatable and I say that as a big Komodo fan. It's really difficult to get away from the bang for the buck Blackmagic offers. However, if you want to splurge, IMO its the best image quality for under 10k. Amazing camera to use and R3D is a treat

What made you pick the FF lenses instead of the s35 versions?

Future proof and I use the speedbooster. Full transparency, those lenses were also gifted to me from Meike.
@@spensersakurai Nice. My mouse has been hovering over “purchase” for the Komodo for a few weeks now. I’m probably going to get the s35 meikes but I’m keen to see how your full frames perform with the speedbooster, I hadn’t considered that setup until you just mentioned it. Thanks.
one thing, you won't see that anymore on REDS, as of 2024 Nikon has taken them over, so would expect Nikon lens compatibility INSTEAD of canon, and that this would be dropped, at least natively, maybe via an adaptor?
It's surprising how small that camera really is. Good choice on the wooden camera rig, of all the options out there I think theirs is the best one. Those Meike lenses look totally sick ! Any particular reason behind going for the Gold Mount over the V mount plus the Tilta mini matte box cause I think...not sure but it can only take 1 large filter. There is a battery plate extender which enables you to add a single Canon battery in that empty slot, seemed interesting for power back up and change up. Great rig ! looking forward to more content on this and more importantly your experience filming on it. Congratulations man.
The main reason why I haven’t considered the Komodo and will probably move on to either UMP G2 or 12k is because I’m working off a 2017 MacBook Pro. I’m basic.

Why did you purchase the Meike lenses over other prime cine lenses in the same price range? Do you like them over the Dzo primes?...etc
looks great! Though you could have saved yourself a lot had you gone with Smallrig to build it out instead of Wooden Camera and Tilta
but sony a7siii does raw with AF and can be easily used with a gimbal; and it's FF too

Interested to see some footage from those Meiki’s on the speedbooster. I own a Komodo and almost exclusively shoot on the canon .71 booster as well, the full frame look is too dang good to pass up. Although I only own a sigma 24-70 FF. Great video!

Hi! Isn’t it complicated with a tophandle without record button? You have to hold the camera only with the left hand, move the right hand from the tophandle to the record button on the right side of the camera, then switch back. Or how do you start recording? That’s the only thing I‘d like to know before I buy this rig. Thank you!
I mostly just use the screen to record but yes i wish there was a more convenient record button.

I’m sure you’re aware, but take care of that SDI port!!! Follow that procedure to a T and it will be fine. I shot four shorts already with it and haven’t had any issues, knock on wood!!

Got a KOMODO myself. Great build from you. Right now I am doing a lot of gimbal work with mine, so I need a compact build. I use the Canon batteries. I got the side plates and the single rod mount from Bright Tangerine for a focus motor. And I am using the vari-nd ef-r-adapter from canon, so just the mattebox without filters on the front. Looking forward to your footage with the Canon speedbooster, thinking about getting a metabones ef-r speedbooster, but only when they release the cine-version (which is coming).

Luckily it’s 4x the price, so buyers remorse isn’t quite justified. When you get into that price territory it’s better to rent unless you have very high paying gigs pouring out your ears. Would also make a Komodo a great backup to have on set.

Either ironic or convenient you got a gold mount battery with the word NEO on it and the RED Komodo 6K was one of the cameras used to film the upcoming 4th _Matrix_ film.
