just a heads up, those same skins from alphaguard are $30 on alie express. same 2080 vinyl. same patterns, same cameras. instructions are hard to read but they're the same as in the video. lol.
Right now I have the canon rf to adapter for the Komodo. Is it preferred to use a kipppertie or is it a matter taste over quality of function? And if Kippertie is the move, which one for the Komodo do you use?
i much prefer a locking mount. At least one with a tie down foot. its a significant difference. i demo this in my review of the viltrox focal reducer: ua-cam.com/video/Lj_MJYeTICw/v-deo.html
@@JustinPhillip I have Red Komodo with canon speedbooster to make it full frame and I also plan to use it on r5c full frame .will the misfit Kick be enough ?

Hey so I'm also rocking the wooden camera vmount and use it with my bp batteries. Do you know if the sdi is protected if you are powering a monitor off dtap as well and the vmount dies? Not sure if the bp battery would protect against this since it would switch to the bp right away. But you mentioned you've experienced it before? Seems in the FB groups that there are mixed messages regarding this. Thanks for your input man!
Hey Justin, Can you help me here if you know please. Did you test or know someone that uses SolidPod Lite CFast 2.0 to M.2 SATA SSD Adapter instead of the CFAST cards ? Many thanks
mmmm, me personally, i dont trust stuff like that. The media is the whole reason you’re there, it’s the baby, so as such, it should be protected. No exceptions. I only use AngelBirds (* i am not an affiliate of AngelBird, i just believe they’re the best)
I really love learning from you. I have a C70 but still want one of these to learn RAW workflow editing . How’s the auto Focus work with RF lenses built in lens stabilization?
@@AlluX97 it stays plugged in, but you do want to check the sync anytime you power down and then reboot. Idk, i leave that to the audio guys. I do not mess with audio on any shoots except my own silly UA-cam videos
Hey Justin question. Do you use something to protect the SDI port ? Like a galvanic isolator ? And two: could you please make a video explaining how to avoid damaging the SDI port ?? As you probably know red made a video about it but it left more questions than answers. I think you could do an amazing video about it and explain the little details like no one else
@@JustinPhillip man you would be a hit with newbies like me that started using the red Komodo. That’s the most common question people keep asking and I don’t see anybody making that video!
Your videos have been so crucial for me and my Komodo. Quick question. How may hours give or take would you say one of those fxlion batteries runs for when powering the camera and monitor? Thanks!
“Real” filmmakers. Wouldn’t a real filmmaker make it black to avoid reflections since your using a skin? Also, don’t “real” filmmakers use it as a crash cam? I hate the term “real” film maker, SO MANY elite film makers will tell you they NEVER use autofocus yet autofocus is on that Komodo. When I first used a digital audio recorder by TASCAM, “real” film makers said they only use Nagar reel to reel recorders. Silly.

If you could have one full frame lens on the komodo what would it be?
So nice to learn in such detail what gear you rock.
😆

That was informative. Thank you for sharing your professional experiences with the RED Komodo

Do you ever wish to have the BT misfit Kick 360 matte box over the misfit Kick or is the misfit Kick enough?
i dont have full frame, 360 is really for large format

Can the Kippertie work if the Komodo has a Tilta cage and not the 8Sinn?
you mean will the support foot line up? i would hope so, but Tilta does have a track record of being proprietary so who knows
@@JustinPhillip Ok. Understood. But it is safe to say your preference is the 8Sinn and it’s pretty suffice all the needs?

will the $20 8sinn canon speed booster adapter support work on other cages like the kondor blue ?
Heyo man. Do you know if that 8sinn chin support would work on the metabones locking speed booster? Thanks!
i mean it works with multiple other adapters, the Kippertie, Viltrox, etc. so i dont see why not
@@JustinPhillip thanks man!
When using a heavy lens like the EF tokina 50-135, is there a lens adapter you recommend the most for support?
i like something like this with a Quick Release: amzn.to/3s0cIDa
what case and organizer lid u got?
kit.co/jpOnFilm/cases
I can’t tell where the camera starts or where it begins? Did you mean wear the camo starts in the camera begins? Good video I wish I had a Komodo

Thanks for choosing our matteboxes
Thank you! 👊🏼🦾
HI Justin Brother, I have a doubt, Does Red komodo capture 16-bit raw internally or does it compress the 16-bit to a 12-bit raw?
Its 12bit in a 16bit wrapper
Thanks, Brother.
What is it you like about the easyrig vs the ready rig ? Which do you recommend for red komodo ? I'm doing music videos
made this video a while back for questions just like this: ua-cam.com/video/axHBEyt-qe4/v-deo.html

How about timecode? How do you sync up?
tentacle sync or just use a slate

Very cool rig! Thanks for sharing! Man... I need a lot of things.. Haha!
This was super in-depth and helpful my man! Thank you so much - just upgraded to the Komodo and I'm trying to not spend another $10K on the rig LOL

hard to say precisely. but i usually can go 2-3 hrs before i need to swap. But thats cam, monitor, follow focus motor, and vaxis
Wooo, 1st comment! Took almost 5 months for my Komodo to arrive from B&H but goddamn was it worth the wait!
Oh Yeah!!
Hai Bro
Nice class... ♥️
My dream camera.
Still waiting.
The fact that you have to spend 10% of the value of the camera on top of it to have a record button in the right position it’s actually ridiculous
ive since changed the setup, you can get a Mutiny I/O rec/stop button for a fraction of the cost and mount it anywhere you like.
rock and no brainer x 1000
