Does the Canon R6 have DUAL NATIVE ISO?!?!?
I think the terms you are looking for to describe a lens that is both sharp and soft at the same time is micro contrast vs wider area contrast. That's the best way I can explain how my Zeiss Biotar 75 1.5 looks. It's sharp and soft at the same time. It gives skin a little bit of a glow and smooths some small details like skin pores while retaining contrast on mid areas. When we talk about sharpness, we are talking about contrast. They are one in the same and understanding that a lens design can give contrast more or less to different sized areas explains how a lens can be sharp and soft at the same time. Playing with with pixel width of sharpening in Photoshop and Clarity in LR is a good way to mimic the effect and gain understanding.
@@phototechchannel229 appreciate the insight!
I have a question. Does the camera also overheat as quickly if you film multiple short clips with little breaks in between? Im a BMX rider and would like to get my hands on a camera for taking pictures but also filming clips. These videos would probably rarely exceed the 1 minute mark but i would probably film multiple of them over a short period of time. Thank you.
@@sinksinksink it’s unlikely if you’re filming a bunch of short clips but if you live somewhere really hot it could happen. I live in Florida though and never had the camera overheat on me
@@calebbrunkow ah okay, i think im fine then. I live in vienna so, shouldn't be as hot here :P Thank you very much. Will probably end up picking up the R6 :)
I love shooting on the FDs just for my film photography, I’ll have to look into the fl line, I’m pretty sure they work on FD mounts.

@ I meant I have all those in FD. I’m excited to realize there’s a whole other line that works on my F1

The "Coolpix A" should be on your list. 16mp / no AA filter - a very underrated camera.
For my opinion the best 20mm lens is the Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon 20mm, both the f4 and the f2.8 versions. I don't know why you exclude it here .This was a big fault.
@@j.c.103 I don’t own that lens and I believe it’s much older than these ones I tested
Have 24 f2, 105 1.8 and 35 f1.4 myself and love them . The 35 is awful wide open but with amazing bokeh (and improves right away stopping down) but the 24 and 105 are very contrasty and sharp even wide open, they are truly great performers for their age and love using them for video in my fx9.

I tend to go for AI-S because those lenses can modified with a "Dandelion chip" which lets you control the aperture with the front command dial on a Nikon SLR or EVIL (aka "mirrorless") or via a remote app. Same thing if you use them on a Sony E or Canon R camera with the right adapter.
Focusing "the Nikon way" is "the right way" or "the one true way".
Hi Caleb, I have that one and it's bigger brother the A3400 if memory servers you can override the firmware with CHDK and get into RAW mode. This works on my A3400 and my SX35. No mods to the actual firmware occur, it's an overlay so to speak. Have a look and give it a try. Happy Holidays !
@@Mr.Nobody_etc. that’s awesome! Thanks for the heads up, happy holidays
Thank you for the video. You are spot on my friend. I love old model CCD sensor cameras and actually bought three used digicams recently at nominal prices. Those are Canon PowerShot A470, S2 IS and A3400 IS. Prefer the first two due to their low resolution which I really like. Sure they replicate film photos. Now, wherever I go especially to friends and family gatherings; I use these cameras. Using them is real joy. It’s like yesterday once more. I used them first in 2008. Subsequently, started my journey with DSLRs since 2009 that continues till date. But recently felt the necessity of digicams again as the smartphone photos and options failed to impress me. So, back to digicams for casual use. I shoot landscape and wildlife with pro DSLRs and L lenses. But doing daylight street photography with the pocket digicams now instead of DSLRs. One thing is certain. The digicams are not suitable for low-light and action photography.
EXCELLENT review on these two vintage lenses.

You are right about Nikkor lenses being under rated. I worked in a camera store in the 80s and sold these AIS lenses new. I've used them as a professional for 40 years. I have collections of Canon FD, Olympus, Minolta/Rokkor, Zeiss, Pentax, Etc. that I adapt to my Nikon Z cameras. I enjoy seeing the nuanced character from different glass and coatings. A few things of note about Nikkor: Some of the slower lenses like the 105 F/2.5 and the 50 F/1.4 are much sharper than the faster versions(105 f/1.8 & 50mm f/1.2). The newer D series of AF lenses should also be under consideration. Most aren't as nicely built, but the glass and coatings are excellent. These still have the aperture setting on the lens. They sell very cheap and are superior to AIS lenses in many ways. I could easily see how someone could build a Nikon D kit for a song. There are a bunch that you missed, some good some just bad enough to be good vintage lenses.
@@fototechnologies appreciate your insight!
I have 35, 50 and 85, all f/1.4. Used with my two F3s and the FE2 and occasionally the D700 and even the Z6. Love em and love manual focusing. Still fancy the 50/1.2 though...but I already have three 50s...

I was on a mission to build a nFD set, but looking at your videos of the 58mm f1.2, I decided to grab one that had balsam separation, ugly thing, but unbelivably it is performing really well in all light conditions, only moment that I can see an issue is with a very specific angle sideways that reveals the balsam separation pattern, anyway, I already had the FL 35mm f2.5, and found a cheap FL 28mm today and grabbed, the 85mm though is expensive as hell and I'm not prepared to invest in one, but my search for it endup finding a bundle of the FL 100mm f3.5 and 135mm f2.5 that was also very cheap, so this morning I had only a 35mm in my FL kit, the box witht he 58mm f1.2 arrived and now in the end of the day I have a respectable kit of 5 FL lenses. I also havea nFD 50mm f2 that might pair well with them, even tho it is very sharp, not sure if the colors are a good match. The flares tho, I will have to live with it, I dont think it is much of a issue to me.

Switched to Sony a long time ago for the Low Light performance and adaptability (limited) of my Canon glass. When Canon finally came out with mirrorless but RF Massive lenses it still orphaned the same great glass. Bought an R6 when first out, but it has languished as Sony A7 SIII and RV became the work horses. Miss the Canon Color, but not the hassle.
@@ccphototx I’ve been loving Sonys color for video on the FX3 and A7IV
You can shoot raw with the SD1000. You have to install CHDK. If you are not aware, there are a couple custom firmwares for old Canon cameras. The firmware available for the SD1000 is called CHDK. CHDK is installed to the SD card, and makes the camera more powerful, and gives it features it does not have. One of those feature is shooting raw. I would recommend a better camera that came out at the same time as the SD1000. It has basically the same form factor, same color, but i a little bigger, and can shoot video in HD. The Canon TX1. CHDK is also availaable for the TX1

There’s a somewhat rare lens called the Canon FL 55-135mm f/3.5. I picked up a mint version in an auction a few years back and it’s an incredible lens. It was Canon’s first SLR zoom and built like a tank could run over it. The quality of the build is extraordinary and was the downfall of the lens when FD came out. It was just too expensive for general consumers. Out of all my vintage lenses, I think it provides the most authentic vintage look with beautiful colour rendering and warmth. I found it great for portraiture. If you see one cheap somewhere, I highly recommend it.
