@@ann-dialiecesaire3513 Hey…welcome! 🤗 I’m glad you found my video useful and yes, please feel free to browse, as there’s lots more videos you may enjoy too.
This was so insighful! I have been using hot water when washing my hair for years and as such my hair has been dried out for years. Thought I needed to do this to get product out of my hair. Stopping this madness today!
Great to hear 👌🏾 Warm water is effective enough to remove product build up and dirt, but it’s more about the shampoo that’s going to get the job done. But I’m glad my video was useful.
I have high porosity hair I knew something was off !!!! yes sis I was using warm water on my was days 🤭🥱 I went natural in 2021 so I’m still in the learning stage . Thank you so much for this tip ❤️
me too. I started using Ms. Jessie, baby butter for my daily curl light conditioner and wash and mask with mielle rosemary mint. use Camille Rose conditioner custard. and so far, very good. I use Aphogee leave in pro vitamin to refresh my curls, and so far, so good.
With the hair dyes I find that black hair isn’t as damaging for hi po girls because it’s not stripping color but it is adding color. I usually dye mine black and don’t have problems with my very high po hair.
@@kellygoodman6167 You have to strip your natural color to deposit blonde. It will be drier and more tangled and prone to breakage. It requires more care and maintenance but I have seen people pull it off with no problems.
Great tips….Thank you!! It is now Winter and I have started using Petroleum Jelly to seal my hair before putting in twists. Never did this before but got desperate once cold, dry weather turned my strands into desert straws. I love it!!!! Not greasy like oils and especially effective for keeping the ends moisturized. Doesn’t take a lot and my strands look great when I take the twists down to moisturize. (I wear head wraps and never wear my hair out in Winter.) Not sure I’ll use Petroleum Jelly in Spring and Summer bec I roll with WnG when it’s warm…but, I’m loving it for now to keep my hair moisturized!! ❤
Should I stay away from steaming. I saw a UA-camr say steaming was good for high porosity hair. Should I avoid it unless I'm deep conditioning or is it ok to use when detangling? Love the content 💓
@daniellaspace I would avoid any type of heat since heat opens hair shafts. The reason why steams are so highly promoted is because it works best for normal and low porosity individuals who are trying to get their hair shafts open to absorb the products. Since high porosity is caused by the hair shafts being more open than it should be, we need to find methods that will close it or create a seal. Heavy conditioners, moisturizers, oils, and cold water is best for high porosity. Doing your hair in the LCO method and using a heavy grease like Blue Magic to seal your hair (not just your scalp) works wonders for my hair. The cold water will help your hair shafts to close a little as well. If you must use hot/warm water during wash days - try to keep the water lukewarm or room temperature, just be sure that your final rinses are with cold water.
Thank you! Sorry I’m late with the reply, only just seen it 😩 Yes, it’s ok to use heat (steamer) when deep conditioning, but avoid it or lay low on using other heat appliances.
@@HealthyAfroHair thank you so much. I did a lab analysis of my hair a month ago and it turns out I’m actually low porosity. Talk about mind blown 🤯 I love your channel. Keep rising ❤️❤️
I know realize why my hair screaming for moisture. I started coloring at home since covid. I’m using permanent drugstore color, hot water from hell is my go too & my blow dryer. In fact all the don’ts you talk about is exactly what I have been doing😮
Thank you for this explanation. I just did a big chop where i shaved off all of my hair because it wasn’t growing. I wanna say that I do have high porosity hair because i over use products that have different kinds of ingredients that I use on my hair, as well as washing it with hot water and using different types of shampoos/ conditioner. As well as blowdrying and combing it everyday. I believe that is what caused me to have high hair porosity because I’m an impatient person and I don’t know what my hair likes. I want to be able to use natural products. Or would it be best to not be any products on my hair? Right now my hair is shaved so should I wait until it starts to grow out?
You’re very welcome! If it’s completely bald, then you don’t have to worry so much about using products. However, once your hair starts to grow, you will want to start using them. But keep it simple and stick to one product at a time.
Do you add moisture back into the hair after blow drying it? Are u wearing your blow dried hair under protective styles. Blow drying is pretty drying, so you have to replenish moisture, especially if you’re frequently blow drying.
Hey, MSM is good since it’s known to help extend the growing phase and can be taken orally (mixed with a drink) or added to an oil. Also, it’s perfectly fine to wash your hair every 2 weeks, but if there’s lots of build up, then you can wash it sooner.
@@mariafisca6114 You’re welcome! Personally, I think twists are better because it’s not as tight as braids, so will allow the shampoo & deep conditioner to get between the hair more easily. But you can give both a try to see what works best.
finally i understand why my hair looks awful after air blowing it It felt likd the only way for it to look good is the pressure from a straightener This also explains why my hair looks good after sealing it in a braid
You’re welcome! No, I don’t have a video but generally, products with a medium to thick consistency works well for HP hair. So you might like to opt for curling/twisting creams.

I look for evry single video about it but nothing seems to be found, they always shows video for people with low hair porosity. Can you please advise? Thank you so much sis.
Hey, happy to hear my video was useful. No Keratin treatments don’t have any benefits in helping high porosity hair, as it requires the use of lots of heat and is quite a lengthy process. But once the hair is straightened, it apparently can last for up to 6 months.

Did you know when you color treat your hair, you should be deep conditioning your hair often and with heat like a hairdryer in salons. I color my hair but i also deep condition with heat. It helps a great deal.
I don't agree with first one: i bleach/balage my 4c hight perosity dark blonde at least 1 a year, and it in fact makes my hair easier to manage... that why i kept doing it. Weird but true and i take good care of it.
Same😂 but I now wonder did I changed the porosity of my hair because I think it was low porosity before bleaching-regardless the secret to managing my hair after years of struggling was bleaching so I’m not stopping
If you want your hair to naturally return back to its natural colour, you would have to fully grow it out until all the colour is gone. But if you can’t wait, then yes, there’s the option to dye it black, but that means adding more chemicals to your hair.
I cant straighten my hair but using a blow dryer after washing has helped me tremendously also I wonder if hair porosity has something to do with the way tou apply heat I can do well with hot combs and Marcel tools but flat irons are a no.
Deep conditioning treatments involves using protein (with heat) to treat your hair, so it’s not two separate things. So when doing your protein treatments, depending on the strength of it, you may need to follow it up with a moisturising treatment to prevent your hair from becoming too dry or hard.
@@ioincognito9953 No, not necessarily! It’s more to do with how well the hair absorbs moisture and you’ll generally get an idea based on how your hair feels after applying moisture to it.
