I don’t know whether you call it science or biology or what but you do the best job of explaining the Why of farming more so than anyone else I see on UA-cam.

You thank us for watching but i wanted to say THANK YOU for taking time out of your busy day and away from your family to share your farm with us ! At the end of the day, you must do what is best for you not us. Take time for your self and your loved ones. Tell that to Sandi too, she should not feel the pressure to pump out videos at the expense of her sanity.
    Cheers Shepard Creek Farms.

It fascinates me that you are able to present a vlog explaining in detail of what happens to your crop(s) when using insecticides and/ or fungicides along with a visual from a drone. I'm certain that all of science comes natural to you.Thank you for being a farmer.Stay blessed!! Sending rain from MI

    Very informative video, very interesting.
As a ex farmer myself I know farming is a very busy business to be in, not much free time, but can be rewarding as well as heart breaking at times.
Don't feel guilty about lack of videos life and family come before UA-cam.
Nice to watch a channel that goes beyond the big flash equipment and gets down to the grass roots of the job.
Keep up the good work from the UK, hope you have a successful Wheat harvest.

You are being nicer than I am because mother nature has been a real bitch this year here in upstate New York we started out with a wet spring then we only had 1.1” of rain in June thank God now when the corn is starting to tassel we’ve had about 2.5” of rain in the past week because it’s been hotter than normal

Can't wait for your "corn" video! One thing that makes me interested is that back in the 80's I can remember high school/college kids talking about working on a farm "detasseling." I think I've got that right....but hoping your video will address that (granted...that was like 40 years ago...LOL). So glad you're back...but family and farming come first...so we are all happy to wait! :D

Cathy Brown my son detassled corn when he was 14 in Indiana not far from southern eastern side of Indianapolis. Super hard and hot work. Best thing he ever did to learn a good work ethic. He talked about there being male and female corn and how to tell the difference. They’d take off the tassel of one if them can’t remember. Can’t remember why they did this. Maybe something to do with producing better seeds? That as 18 years ago.

I can understand the frustration with no rain especially when its your livelihood . I have been around dairy farms all my life here in Australia and no rain does your head in . Really did miss the vlogs while you had your hiatus . Good to see you back Mark and hope you get more rain as its needed . I am looking forward to when you harvest .

Your use of the drone to assess and scout your crops is quite interesting. It helps explain your processes so well. Those army worms are quite efficient eating machines. They came through our knee high lush coastal hay field and mowed it back to 4 inch stubble in 10 days. Looked like we scalp mowed it. Ran the cows into that meadow when the worms were spotted to let them graze as much as they could to get some benifit of that cutting. Mother nature gives us a lot of adaptability tests for sure.

Your knowledge base that you use for making decision is impressive. On the first field you talked about a unsprayed strip and your reason for that makes sense. But why have such a large amount of untreated wheat, wouldn't a smaller section give you the some data?

You mentioned the modes of action of the fungicides, when I was involved with studying they had egosterol inhibitors, morpholines and they had triazole fungicides, but resistance was becoming a problem, I guess the active ingredients of these new fungicides will be different and hopefully more effective. The objective was always to get more plant resistance and reduce fungicide use, but with large monocultures this is always difficult as mother nature 💔 finds away to put best layed plans a wry. 3 ton acre, 10 tonne /hectare was always a good crop, not sure about 90-100 bushels /acre.

Is there another crop going in right after you harvest it Will you till in the big load of sheep waste sitting in front of the barn into the dry spots to improve the soil before you put in the next crop How much research have you done on Reducing Combine Losses
