    UK driving is not as straight forward as in the U.S., there are more hazards, roads are much more narrow and everything is closer, also there are more signs and rules to follow. However driving in the UK will make you a more Disciplined and safer driver

    Great to see you employ the new rear camera/mirror footage, I am a strong believer these should come as standard in future cars and I expect they will.
    The genius of them even if they fail electronically they are still mirrors.

    • @AdvanceDrivingSchool
      @AdvanceDrivingSchool  4 роки тому +1

      We love using the new ‘electric mirror’ on lessons, and whilst the recorded footage is decent (its 1080P resolution), it can’t compete with the 4K footage that our GoPro cameras output - so that’s what we use for these videos.

    • @jakec6282
      @jakec6282 4 роки тому +1

      is the rear mirror still visible through this? I personally don't think a camera is suitable as a rear view mirror.

    • @AdvanceDrivingSchool
      @AdvanceDrivingSchool  4 роки тому +1

      @@jakec6282 The rear-view monitor sits in front of the car's original mirror, so we can only see the view on the screen. Many new cars have these fitted as standard now, as they give a clearer view than a mirror can - for example, the new Honda E has monitors instead of all 3 mirrors!

I am going university and I'm not sure if I should take lessons there or if I should come back home frequently to learn with my regular instructor. I'll also be using my home instructors car for the official test so is it best to stick with him so I can get used to the car so therefore come home frequently...or should I save the hassle and take lessons near uni. My main concern is getting used to the car and the controls for my official test which I may not be able to do as much if I took lessons near my uni. I've just watched this after viewing a similar video about an American doing a mock test in London.
    To me he looked far more competent and had many more hazards to deal with. His instructor was much harsher and gave him many more minors which seemed to be glossed over in this video.

    I tried to book my driving test today, I logged on at 8am and two hours later I got through , but they didn't have any date available from now until six weeks later , at Hendon, mill hill, greenford and South hall .
    Even tho when i check availability they say the tests centres has low availability at Hendon, mill hill, Greenfield, South hall. This is very upsetting . They need to sort it out. They will reopen again on Monday the 7th of September at 8am and I can bet it's going to happen again, no spaces at any of the test centres I want. What to do as I don't want to wait until 2021 to get a driving test.

    She's driving an automatic. That's so easy.
    Also, when you are a learner driver, you're not allowed to crossed your hands when staring. It should be the pull and push. Unless they changed the rule on this since its been a while since I passed my driving test.

    • @AdvanceDrivingSchool
      @AdvanceDrivingSchool  2 роки тому +1

      It’s easier to control an automatic car - but the driver still needs to use the same judgement when driving. For this reason the driving test pass rate is no higher for automatic tests than manual. On a test the examiner doesn’t mind what steering technique is used, so long as the car is in the correct road position at all times.

    I would like to let you know something another online instructor told me who had a mock test with American driver. The US driving test rules are different in funny way. You don't have to continuing observing when reversing, only do mirrors or what and your aloud to hit the kerb no more than 3 times. Hmmmm. Also it's not like UK MSM mirror signal manoeuvre, but rather in US signal mirror manoeuvre. Is that so interesting, I and the instructor who learned this ( DGN driving school UA-cam channel ) from the American driver. Why not watch his video last year it's so funny, and mostly people love his channel

      Yes, we have heard all of those differences from other people we have taught from the United States. Hello I was hoping someone could help. There is a traffic light box junction where I live but on only one side it is a filtered light (one arrow to turn right just underneath the normal red amber green) how ever on this side it is a single lane so me waiting for the green arrow would prevent others moving behind me, what should I do, my driving instructor seems to think this is about priority, so if the green light shows I should proceed to turn right however watch out for other cars and if the arrow is on I shouldn’t have to worry but I don’t believe this correct could anyone clarify for me please ?

    • @AdvanceDrivingSchool
      @AdvanceDrivingSchool  3 роки тому

      A normal green light means everyone can enter the junction - although you might need to give way to oncoming traffic when turning right. A green arrow means only traffic going in that direction can cross the stop line. So in practice you don't need to wait until the right arrow lights up, you can ener the junction on either green light when turning right. In our experience the right green light arrow generally indicates that oncoming traffic has a red light so will be stopping soon, letting you continue your right turn - although any oncoming traffic that has crossed their stop line will still have priority over you!

    • @mw2m125
      @mw2m125 3 роки тому

      Advance Driving School thank you very much for your reply, I can’t seem to find any information anywhere related to this, so just to clarify. If the green light appears but not the green arrow I can turn right (as long as oncoming traffic doesn’t prevent it) and if the light is red but arrow if green I can just turn right (following all other box junction rules)

      We don’t think so - the pedestrian walked out at the last second, and wasn’t actually on the crossing. Stopping suddenly like that with the traffic lights on green would probably cause more danger, so we would have continued as well.

    OMG, its Ridiculous to drive, or driving for that matter here in the UK.
    The USA, & CA, is far more easier.
    In Lauder Hill Florida in 1990 my driving instructor said, "You don't need a driving test, you need a driver's license"
    (1). We went up 1 block.
    (2). I Turn. Left, Right.
    (3). I did a Parallel park on both sides.
    (4). We went to get Gas.
    From greeting the driving instructor, have a new driving license in my wallet, to make it on time to work, & clock in, & start working,
    Everything took 19 minutes. i was 16.

      Its the opposite over here. Automatic is standard in each car and manuals are rare.
      Automatic transmission are great for the constant stopping/accelerating. For my commute to university, (14 miles) i can potentially come to 23 traffic lights/stop signs (34 if i avoid the interstate highway). Those are bringing my car to complete stop and waiting 2-5 minutes for other traffic to cross.
      I Don’t know about you but accelerating and downshifting every 1/2 mile in the city is annoying.

    • @serenityedits1857
      @serenityedits1857 2 роки тому +2

      @@bobp6742 the traffic laws revolve around obeying the system. If you can drive the car according to the rules, you pass. Versus the UK demanding personal judgements and adjusting of traffic conditions.
      The light tells you when to proceed, and the traffic sign tell you when to give way, and the rules of the road are chief.
      Its illegal for pedestrians to cross the street whenever and wherever they want. Theres a designated place to cross. For myself, i dont have to slow down because i know people arent allowed to jump out of the middle of the road. If everyone follows the system, no one gets hurt.
