My experience is, all the way to about 5.5k rpm the bike is EXACTLY the same as unrestricted, the difference is that with the restrictor off after 6k it pulls like a train all the way to redline. Restricted still has every bit of the low to mid range but just has a slightly dull top end. So honestly you dont miss out on much 👌

Yo! I can relate so much going from a 125 straight to a restricted MT-07. Man i've driven mine for about 3 months and i still get goosebumps and shiver each time i pull that throttle :D

Tempted to get one. I only have my a2 and with lockdowns and queues it might be ages until I can get booked in for lessons and test for full licence. I had a bandit 600 a couple of years back but I haven’t ridden since, the bandit was my first bike. Might get an mt07 to practice on until I can get a test.

Hoping to take my A2 license next year before my CBT runs out 😅 and i’m torn between the the MT07 & CB500X but damn the MT07 looks and sounds like a Beast but the restrictor may slow you down but a sprocket change & Exhaust system may assist with things 😉
Exhaust doesnt really do anything noticable and just whip the restrictor off, takes 1 minute lol the MT is way more fun and faster than the CB500X 😁 good luck on your test for the future.

Because the MT-07 and the r7 have the same engine and frame then couldn’t the same restrictions be put onto the R7 so it would be A2 compliant?
yes R7 is A2 compliant with restriction

What was your experience before gaining your a2. What was your insurance for the year for the Mt. I have 2 years experience and doing my a2 license this summer
Bought a new MT07 A2, still breaking in the engine. Done around 600km. You think because the engine is new it makes it slightly hard to wheelie? Just asking cos i am struggling to get my tyre off the ground
Since it's restricted it will be slightly harder, took me a few months to really start lifting the bike up, just try giving it more revs and pulling up harder, keep that back brake covered though and try moving further back on the seat :)

Up to 6k rpm it does, after it is a bit “dead”, 48 hp

Taking the test for the A2 is the exact same as the A so depending on your age or if you've taken the progressive route, the A license would be your only option which is a good thing 😉 full power is tame enough when you ease yourself into it 👍🏻

They never ask if its restricted or not, just insure as usual.

2014 but they can either be ecu or throttle restricted.

It was throttle restricted, done a video on it.
When restricting these does it need to be done in a motorbike garage or can this be done by myself?
Can be done by yourself, also a lot cheaper since garages will usually charge a ridiculous amount for literally a 1 minute job.

What makes the bike slower? What do they do to restrict it? Never heard such a nonsense rule for bike licence. In canada u have learners, new and full licence. U can get any bike u want with any licence. U can insure a bike withiut a licence even
UK laws 😂 it’s just a throttle plate or an ECU restriction. Stupid thing is, if I did the same test when I was 24, I wouldn’t even have a restriction, I’m 25 now but because I did it when I was 21, I have to redo the entire test.

Probably is but this is plenty enough for a lot of people :)
R3 with little modification can get up to 200kmh
