This is so interesting... I am in the 5th year in Romania, and this is very useful to me. Tomorrow I have a lab exam at gastroenterology, and I must say... NO ONE explained this better than what I've seen in this video... and teachers are paid to do that (not paid enough). Thank you so much.

Thank you for a very detailed and insightful look into physiology and pathology of peptic ulcers .
Ive been very interested & studying gastroenterology along with histology and this puts it in perspective for those who want to look deeper into the mechanistic pathology

Great explanation,. Though I think gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer pathophysiology should be explained together + duodenal ulcer is more common, so I would appreciate more details about that too, since it's important. Thanks anyway for this! :)

Hi, today I had an exam and the question was “how does alcohol affect the mucosal layer for gastric ulcer making?” So I talked about the surfactant. My teacher said that there’s no evidence of that on the GI track, just on the lungs. So I wanted to know what was the biography of that statement.

Ive been on Prilosec and Paxil for 21 yrs and recently have tapered down on both and my duodenum/small intestine aches, maybe ulcer so I may have to go back on the normal dose, seeing as Ive been taking Prilosec for 2 decades Im worried about Gastrin levels and stomach cancer risk from taking PPI's long term and yet when I reduce slightly my proton pumps awaken and my duodenum doesnt like it one bit, I was thinking about taking DGL, cabbage juice, yoghurt etc whilst Im coming off Prilosec to protect the stomach/duodnum lining, are there any other things |I can do to help the stomach/duodenum to adjust to stopping PPI's, I thought maybe start taking Gaviscon which coats the lining? Thankyou.

Mr. Wolf, isn't the point of having enteric coated Aspirin to prevent digestion of the aspirin in the stomach, but rather in the small intestine? I saw you mentioned that as one of the etiologies of PUD. Wouldn't uncoated tablets cause more harm?

Hi, great video - you really simplify and present it in a clear way. I have 2 questions: 1. From what I read H pylori decreases acid secretion, as opposed to increase in acid secretion as you mention. 2) I did not find a recent article supporting the surfctate layer, can you please send a few studies about this? Thx!!
