Love the appreciation and analysis for Labyrinth of the Lifestream! Among my favorite tracks but I have yet to see anyone talk about, definitely the most underrated track in the whole ost for me.
This makes me so happy to hear 🥲 Though I can understand why it hasn't been talked about when EVERY SINGLE ONE of these 400 tracks is absolutely god-tier 😂
The Queens Blood track really reminds me of some of the violin interludes in Ne Obliviscaris songs, and I think its partly because they are trying to achieve a similar thing, a mix of beauty and dissonance.
One of the things I love about Rebirth is its massive assortment of musical styles. From rap to country to metal to jazz to classical, heck there is even an opera aria in there. And yet it all seems to somehow hang together in cohesion as part of a larger musical tapestry.
The synthetic underneath the second half of the Labrynith of the Lifestream really adds to that steampunk mech sounds like you would hear in the reactors or the clockwork themes like how Loveless hinted at.
This was so fun to watch!!! I’d honestly be down to listen to you listen to the entire album and break stuff down 😂 rebirths music was just SO GOOD i cannot get over it

AHHHHHH thanks so much for all this, Ruby 😭 I'M SO GLAD SOMEONE ELSE ALSO HEARD R&J OMG, and yeah I never notice electric guitar riffs first if at all (lmao), but also since I'm billing this as "Classical Violinist Reacts" I figure I have to mention all the string stuff at the very least LOL I admit too that my "drop the needle" chops are quite rusty, which is why I couldn't think of specific references on the spot, but as I was looking for them to edit in I kept thinking like "oh maybe I was thinking of THIS instead??" and Rachmaninoff triplets was one that I questioned for sure 😂 There's definitely so much overlap in all of this and I love hearing what other people hear in it too!! Also about the QB track (LOL), it plays during the final match of the cruise tournament but I guess you can just skip that?? Kinda a shame because the music is too good hahaha, but yeah I'm definitely planning a cover of it...honestly probably the most extra cinematography ever just bc the devs also went way too hard on this card game and I enjoyed it so much 🤣 I definitely recommend watching the QB cutscenes movie if you don't wanna play it though bc it is *wild* where they went with it lmao
Yay! The Lifestream stream song in the Temple of the Ancients was my favorite song of the whole game. Especially because The Lifestream was my favorite song of the original game even if it was only in one scene at the Observatory. The haunting yet strangely hopeful melodies gave chills.
Really enjoyed watching this! A fun little celebration of this games amazing OST.

I noticed Rebirth was VERY much American “Hollywood Style” and theatrical in its music, screenplay, writing etc. Maybe they got some Hollywood talent to work on this game. There’s often a lot of Disney in the music also especially in the gongaga region. It works with FF7. Hopefully they stick with it in the third game

@viopatti Along the same vein, Final Fantasy 14 has a lot...and I mean a LOT of banger tracks that you could go through. So much content for you to be able to explore. If you decided to check it out, I would recommend listening to "Answers" from the FF14 Realm Reborn Trailer, and explore from there 😀

You should review the three SOLIDERS theme. Probably my personal favorite out of the entire OST.
I stayed away from the more spoilery end tracks for the time being but there are some good ones there for sure!
I hope you play a version of the Cosmo Canyon World theme and go ham on the violin part!
oh man I have thought about it LOL but tbh the fiddle improv style is probably not something I can pull off as well, especially considering how good the original is!!

1: Did you wear headphones or did you use speakers when playing Rebirth?
2: Where are your audio levels usually set in games? Do you put the music up higher than SFX and Voice?

1. I went back and forth, headphones most of the time because our game room shares a wall with my kid's room and I don't wanna wake her LOL But if I was home alone I would crank it up on speakers haha
2. So I definitely appreciate if a game has those controls, because I always turn the SFX down as low as is comfortable for me (my ears are especially sensitive to those kinds of sounds) I do usually turn the music up vs the dialogue but it depends on the game - I started that way for Rebirth but found the dialogue was actually a bit soft in the mix so I ended up adjusting it later
@@viopatti Yes, the sound mixing was one of my main criticisms of this game.
The music was incredible, but thank goodness I turned on captions - the music drowned out the character dialogue many times, especially in battle.
It's a game that you want to be able to play with the volume cranked up, when you're able!
