I don't think the autobrake setting mattered as much as passing two thirds of the runway before putting the wheels on the ground.
Imagine the flight computer during that float.
10......20....10....10...20....10....10....10....10....20....10...retard...retard.
And in what a shitty condition it is, ridiculous.
@@fluffigverbimmelt absolutely horrendous
@@chapterrv Completely unacceptable.
I was about to make a similar remark.
That C17 stopped insanely fast... also that formation flight with the 78 was sweet
They dont call it “globemaster” for nothing.
@@sirankleknocker3122 They don’t call me “horse dick” for nothing!
wow
Watching a Globemaster at a show is nuts, they go nearly vertical on takeoff sometimes. Lol
They're quite a plane. I watched one land on a dirt runway at Hunter Liggett. Throws up a hell of a cloud of that dry desert dust when it does. Of course, so did my tank, but only relatively speaking.
There’s nothing more beautiful or satisfying than a cockpit landing view
Madeira is a bonus, too. Would love to see a cockpit view go around there
I would love to see the SmartWings 737 cockpit view of this nice stop onto the grass
But the plane calling him a retard was uncalled for.
@@mattafakkah @mattafakkah except their feelings 😅😅😅🤣🤣
Was that James Earl Jones calling out the altitude at the end? Also, why did they put an airport between the town and the beautiful ocean?
man, pilots must have thick skin. I would get pissed if my car called me a retard every time I park it
That's why the training takes a while, ignoring those rude planes is not easy sometimes, takes some getting used to. 🤣
yall have beaten that joke into absolutely the most asinine state of pointlessness.
@@CapStar362 Oh sure, but even still I sometimes get a little smile when hearing it. Is it retarded? Perhaps, about as retarded as a fart joke, and those have been told and laughed at for thousands of years. Humans are a funny lot. When they're not being terrifying.

it does have now
Globe master- I was never made for the whole runway, so I won't use even half of it.
You want to really be impressed? Look up C-17 lands at civilian airport in Tampa, Florida. The pilot mistook the airport for the base's runway a few miles away.

That may have been a glider at some point but it isn't anymore with those little jet engines on it.
I think what we hear isn't a jet engine but a smoke dispenser (it's basically a lot of tiny little tubes, sometimes more than 100), some gliders are fitted with a small foldable propeller engine but never with a jet engine :)
I saw a jet powered glider at an airshow once. It may have been a one-off but they do exist!
@@billstevens3796 Then I stand corrected :) Thanks for the info
Or was it just dumping water ballast?
@@jetalse7974 The sound is just the air at high speed, the water ballast being dumped gives the 'smoke' trail. A glider can do one pass, pull up and land easily. A high performance glider can do two passes if the pilot manages the energy well. I have seen three passes, but that's pushing the limits a bit.
The 2 planes approaching the same runway was definitely a photo op, even before it said it was an airshow.
Tim Scott just did a video about that last clip's runway. That end of the runway is actually a ***massive*** bridge!

Ever since I "upgraded" to iOS15 I *always* hit "i" instead of "o." And I don't always notice it.

Yeah...they lengthened the runway because it was too short
Amazing how a C17 can land (and take off) in such a short space.
Thanks for the videos!
And thanks for no music or commentary during the events, actual audio is the best!
Am I right in thinking the first videos on here had commentary? - but, you're right, it was a good move taking it off. The actual sound is so much better.
Hope you're good 👍👍
In 1961 in an airshow Royal Navy FAA aircraft landed at opposite ends of the same runway, folding their wings as they slowed down and passed each other as planned.
That must have been cool. What were they flying back then?
The slovak Tupolev and A319 landing was part of an airshow when they were retiring the Tu154
2:10 That runway is in serious need of repair.
Hey, Tom Scott just did a video about that last runway.
pog
2:10 that's obviously not a misscalculation but an unstabilized approach, as they flared waaaay to long and got on the ground after the touchdown point.
Just go around and do a second approach guys. That's why there's a procedure for that. It's also much cheaper than overshooting a runway 🤣
Yeah, touched down in the second half of the runway.
They had 1500m remaining at touch down and used c.970m of runway before touch down. Had they used the right setting on the auto brakes they would have been fine. It was wet and they had a tailwind. Bad planning and confirmation bias by the Capt!
Okay Ruben.. we'll do as suggested by an expert like you.
Wish you were there in our lives earlier.
You know what.. next time.. we'll merely obserce and learn.. while YOU do everthing.. to teach us how it is done.
@@sailaab Someone’s a bit touchy. 😂 Besides, Ruben is right.
I totally agree
That plane at the end was so rude!

Quality aviation content!
thx for explaining that it was a stunt.. TCAS must've gone crazy and i can't see how you could ignore that ;)
There have been incidents.. one in particular where the plane bounced on sea/ water as the pilots had decided to switch GPWS off.. as it felt 'irritating'.
.
.
I am not sure, but since it wasn't a commercial flight.. may be they might have been allowed to somewhat disable TCAS
TCAS RAs (resolution advisories) are automatically disabled at low altitudes (below 1000ft above ground level). So TCAS shouldn't be a factor in a stunt like this.
@@seppi4033 TCAS can also be turned off into Standby
@@mattafakkah pilots can and do land a plane safely. Optimism makes for a happier life

0:29 Better to get the Tu-154 down first before some essential part of it fails.
@@mattafakkah most pilots can and do land a plane safely. Optimism makes for a happier life
@@lindabennett9068 Yeah even Tu-154s are decent planes, if they're maintained.
@@Vpmatt With time passing, the latter is becoming the issue. Also wonder whether they can even get parts now with the Russian embargo. I'm sure there are plenty of planes "for spares" around the world, but it will raise the same issues. (old)
@@mattafakkah this is airshow men, goodbye of tu154 slowakia
I'm sure I'd seen elsewhere that the two Slovak government aircraft situation was an introduction of the lower aircraft into the fleet and the port side aircraft peeling away to port was a handover. You will notice the press photographers who are there for that reason.
Especially great clips today thanks! That was a poorly kept runway in the landing overshot video. And the autopilot was pretty insulting there at the end of the Portugal landing lol.

Very good video...thank you for sharing!
PFA Rally Cranfield UK 1989. Heard on the radio. Pilot joining the circuir to land was told "Sir, your about number 43 in traffic, land at your own discretion". Even Oshkosh can't beat that.

I like your videos. Good work.
I don’t think the globe master suffered a compressor stall, it looked like the engine ingested something.
it was a stall,
2 things:
A: Incident report on event from USAF and ASN confirm it was a stall.
B: Pause the video and make it full screen, then use your , and . keys to I-frame rewind and advance the video. 2 frames before the blow-out watch that vortex tornado. it dissipates, that is indicative of loss of air intake which would build up fuel into the combustion chamber and POOF. make sure you view this on a laptop or a device with a keyboard, as mobile devices do not have this capability unless a Bluetooth KB is in use.
that's clearly a Compressor Stall, the imbalance of air intake resulting in the stalling of a compressor stage. this causes air to become stagnant or reverse flow. the combustion chambers are depleted of air but still inbound fuel flow detonates.
Pretty bad when the pasture has less potholes than the runway.
i especially enjoyed the cockpit view
U gotta love those airliner low pass on the f1 gp
Cool 👍 liked the cockpit view 👍 didn't know a plane could back up?
The SAAB 37 Viggen did that fifty years ago. How else could you park at IKEA?

@@mattafakkah pilots can and do land a plane safely. Optimism makes for a happier life
@@mattafakkah That was done on purpose.
Imagine looking up and seeing that 787 looming large over your cockpit window! The two planes vying for the same runway reminds me of a strip in the comic Calvin and Hobbes where the same thing was happening. One pilot barrel rolled the other for better position! Real life imitates art! ha
That first one... I've made that same mistake on ATC games that I play a couple of time.
3:04 The plane should behave! Not calling its people such derogatory names.
What would you rather your plane call you?
I'd rather be called a simple retard when about to crash then something pc and an Asian voice saying "You stupid" seams patronizing and maybe even racist. All the pc terms are too long and would certainly lead to loss of life.

I trust this man thumbnail soo much he never disappoint
I always wanted to see a B52 do that!
Nice one!
What is that fluid spiral or vortex emerging from the front of the C17's engine with the compressor stall?
You are right. That is a dust ingestion vortex. It happens in a dirty runway, when aircraft is standstill and in higher power. Worse when aircraft uses thrust reverser to move back, as in this case, as it it pushes the dust to the front of the engine. You see that this did not happen when aircraft was slowing down or even when it stopped completely. You also may have noticed that it happened to the engine on the other side also If you search for "dust ingestion of aircraft on runway" you will get lot of "good" pictures and explanation.
2:01 a firm landing on the touchdown marker beats a greaser halfway down the runway. WTF were they thinking?
How dare you....They have smart in their name
I stand corrected! 😂🤣
1:36 that was at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix!
1:36 that man talking in the background sounded finnish to me and it sounded like he was talking about "earphones for safety and not giving a fuck getting on a trip" :O
That's about as close as we can get to real-life MSFS multiplayer
Is that the original audio in the first clip? That definitely doesn't sound like an a319ceo with CFMs going around
Great movie,
It always makes me giggle when the planes saying 'retard' for reduce throttle position. it should praise you landing, not call you names hahaha.

1:30 I love that they were playing the National Anthem.
1:11 That was an awfully loud turbine for a sailplane glider. Isn't that called a motor-glider?
I was wondering the same thing.
Madeira is a beautiful country I went there when I recovered from meningitis
The C-17 is an impressive plane. That stop was amazing. The Etihad flight that performed with the aerobatics team was a sight to see. However, the Funchal, Madeira location was actually Santa Cruz, Madeira. Funchal doesn’t have an airport.
The Etihad flight was actually for the Formula 1 race at Abu Dhabi Yas Marina circuit back in december
Ground effect may have played a role in the overrun: read that, too much speed on approach. The speed brake would have helped bleed that off.
Ground effect plays a role in every overrun lol. Every landing, in fact.
For all of the comp stalls I've ever been around or felt, that one was lame lol. Usually, they feel like a massive explosion followed by an earthquake.
Wow gliders are getting some real attitude now!
I wonder how the "chem trail" nutters will explain what was coming off the gliders?

Actually makes a lot of sense to have both planes landing at once you double the efficiency the airport
Exactly, if the other plane lands on top of the other one aswell itll take less parking space too, its a win win
If I was given the oppertunity, I would land one plane on top of another while the first plane is landing on runaway, now that would be stunt to see! Obviously the plane would have to be modified a bit so that other plane can actually land on top of it (rail in middle for front wheel and some kind of supports for rear wheels to stand on).
Cool 😊✈️❤️
