I lost over 10 years bmx time to drugs and alcohol preoccupations. Getting back on the bike takes me back to the happiest years of my life. Much love to the ones still riding and even more love to the ones caught up in the struggle.
Same here..😢 i new been clean 4 years.. i even quit cigarettes to. I now have a 1yo baby i never felt so clear.. but weed i dont think ill ever quit that.
I quit riding in 2008. I was at my peak of riding. Just learned hop whips and backflips was sponsored by a few local bike shops. Then after a series of events I started doing heroin. 5 years ago I got sober. Fuck i wish i kept riding. @@KingTimmy136
Drugs are artificial high and it never beat the feeling of landing a trick or love. That's a strong word. Thank you for sharing. You still got it man. Gnarly.
Glad to see he is working on leaving that life style! Good job sharing this Vital it is definitely worth to see. Mad support and good vibes, he will definitely is now on my favorite riders list. Style!
Ryan was and/is still our neighbor. Ryan was so good to my girls. He’s such a good person. We went to the place where he road when my girls were 6 and 8years old for a birthday party. My girls told the workers they new him when they saw a picture of him plastered everywhere....naturally they didn’t believe them. Ryan we’re so proud of you!
I just recently over came addictions to opiates like oxycontin. Which progressed to heroin and using meth on top of that. I got lucky and got on suboxone treatment. Its been 2 years off heroin and meth. And in now falling back into the bmx scene thank god. I try to fill my time focused on riding keeping the thoughts of dope off my mind. Its easier said than done. But getting back on the bike and staying busy has really helped me move on and keep a clear head when it comes to what's more important. Riding my bike or wasting my life away on drugs. Is much rather be riding and progressing to learn to tricks. Its a high in itself when you go big and pull off a banger trick. The feeling is so good,
So stoked for you getting your life back, I've lost too many friends to H, but please wear a helmet. It would be so shitty for you to come back from what you've been through and then have something happen like what happened to Scotty. BMX is the best drug!
Keep on riding Ryan. You were one of my favorite riders back in the day. I think I still might have a picture of you doing a 180 handplant drop in at the vans comp in hb somewhere.
I gave up bmx for over 10 years for heroine & meth and fucked up my life but now I’m 36 in drug court as well for the last year and a half doing great a part of my daughter’s life and just got a S&M ATF built it with all new parts and getting back on it for the first time was such a cool feeling it reminds me of simpler times before drugs and keeping me sober it’s nice to have an outlet to free my mind from normal everyday stress I love BMX. I needed to see this and keep up the good fight Ryan your an inspiration bro
this makes me so happy I almost cried. I used to be friends with Ryan and really looked up to him as a youngster being a few years younger than him in Boulder city and I'd go skate the skatepark a lot and I just recall seeing him do a backflip years ago and just thinking it was the coolest thing ever. then hearing about his sponsorships and going pro made me want to skate and practice everyday to become a skateboarder like he did with his bike. eventually I got injured too hooked on prescription pain killers and then heroine as well and used to use with him . I'm truly sad to say that I lost him as friend eventually because of drugs and I'd say drugs and my wrongdoings to him and mainly just me beingna a piece of shit to him cause even as a junkie he was still a good friend for the most part and I didn't know how to do that when I first started I just screwed everyone over. I always knew this dude was the real deal . so happy for you Ryan. extremely inspirational to me at least and always has been.

I'm truly sad to say that I lost him as friend eventually because of drugs and I'd say drugs are 100% to blame. but seeing this is extremely uplifting. I ended getting clean and was clean for almost two years myself. had an awesome girlfriend and was doing somewhat ok. my gf got into a motorcycle accident and passed away almost 2 years ago now and I relapsed from 2 years of being off heroin cause I didn't know how else to deal with it. this makes me want to reconsider what the he'll I'm doing still. I always knew this dude was the real deal . so happy for you Ryan. extremely inspirational to me at least and always has been.
So sick Ryan proud of you man.You were one the things that inspired me to finally get clean after getting hooked on heroin in the early-mid 90s and being on a methadone prescription for about 23 years along with it.🙏🏼❤I'll be 2 years clean of all substances including alcohol on the 25th of June 2021 and I just built up a new BSD Sureshot frame n life's good again 👍
Glad I got to meet u and become decent friends w you in vegas during our darker times. Miss you I know ur doing better! Ur the fuckin man -Milli vanilli
I am a drug court grad. You can do it. It's a walk in the park after two years. It's down hill from here. Stay away from the drugs and keep making the monthly check ins and then move on.
iam curently in the same situation like ryan...but i will get it done too like him.,..going back to riding...currently iam stuck witch a substitute, but it will do
well done son I'm 4 years clean off that shit and a son that's 8 , my marriage died because of the miss trust in caused but you can't keep looking back you have to be in the day to move forward and take it ezy on yourself because when I was using it was my worst critic 12 years old to 39 was a long time hating the word and me !, I know you're pain so fucking sweet as myson epic story and my your days be ezy and your life and family be fun .BIG RESPECT SON.👍👊👊👊👊👌

Peter Knagge maybe it’s a cliche to you, but it is a miracle to me. Losing a family member only to have him resurrected is my every prayer answered for 10 straight years.

This makes me so unbelievably happy. Proud of you Ryan!
It's amazing to see that he can ride so well especially after what he's been through. He's not just doing tricks. He's doing them smooth with style.
Welcome back. drugs take too many lives happy to see you got your life back on track
I grew up with Ryan, and seeing this brings me tears of joy. Glad to have him back riding.
Drugs are artificial high and it never beat the feeling of landing a trick or love. That's a strong word. Thank you for sharing. You still got it man. Gnarly.
I remember meeting you over 10 years ago in Florida and on my birthday this year you will be 2 years clean. Well done Ryan.

That was an honest interview. Glad to see he’s sober and doing well. Keep riding Ryan it is like you haven’t missed a beat.
Be thankful for being alive. A lot of people never escape the heroin lifestyle and end up dead, especially with the fentanyl going around.
One of my all time favorite riders stoked he’s back killing it

Much Love,
I appreciate all the love everyone! Thanks for watching! Hope to see you out there riding soon!

Graduating college as a raging alcoholic was the worst thing that ever happened to me. It made me believe I could do anything drunk.

Legal drugs leading you to illegal drugs.
Damn, what a cliché! Probably showing my age, but has anyone seen the documentary "All This Mayhem" about Australian skateboarding champ Tas Pappas?
Peter Knagge maybe it’s a cliche to you, but it is a miracle to me. Losing a family member only to have him resurrected is my every prayer answered for 10 straight years.
