  • Make a crochet slip knot in order to start your next crochet project with basic beginner techniques. A slip knot is important to master because it is the first step taken when beginning any crocheted piece.
There are several variations you can use when making a crochet slip knot, and in this lesson I am going to demonstrate three commonly used techniques because everyone's style is different.

to anyone struggling: i can affirm to you we are only a bit unlucky that one of the first steps to chochet is like this; i have a lot of amigurumi (chochet dolls) done and i still come to watch beginners lessons. Dont give up chochet because of these steps, and after some practice you'll surely do beautiful artwork with your abilities.

I tried all three of your methods and they all worked. I think I prefer the pretzel method the most. Thank you for your help! I had tried to follow the instructions of a book I bought and couldn't get it. You're a life saver :)

My grandmother taught me to crochet/sew during summer visits when I was 7 yrs old. I must have been a very patient little girl & her a patient teacher. she made beautiful blankets for the church. Those memories with her have stayed with me all my life.

Thank you so much! I'm almost 68, been crocheting since 13. Never learned this method til 2017 or 2018? Today, I couldn't get it to work. So opened ur video, realized I was pulling on the WRONG END to tighten my circle. Now u may think that I'm brain dead... Questionable..lol. Really I don't crochet much anymore (I design and make quilts...fabric is more my thing, but winter is crochet time) especially don't have to tighten a circle for a heart, granny square, etc when it is crochet time;; but I'm trying to broaden my crocheting skills to harder things. So it didn't matter these last couple years. But it was driving me crazy today! You kept it short, to the point, absolutely perfect video with more choices too, LOVED IT.... Unlike me with comments...I write as a hobby also, so expect a novel comment. I'm truly trying to change... Honestly! Blessings to you. L :)

I know these are ten year old videos but they r the best for me just learning! I can't stand people taking forever to show what they are talking about or talking for 5 minutes before they actually do the stitch. We're not going on UA-cam to watch the person we come here to learn a skill. You do great! 2-3minute vids just to get the point across
