Anyone else being led by the spirit to learn about Herbalism this season?
Absolutely
Yes definitely
Me!!! Been saying it for a while but now intentional about it
I was lead to start in March 2023. And I don’t regret a single dollar Iv spent on my books and my classes of the time Iv spent working with herbs
Absolutely 💯 🙏🏽
I was an Advanced EMT (23 years) and am presently a Native American Studies M.A. student. My two research focuses are on plant medicines/food sovereignty and indigenous language preservation/revitalization. My hope is to do a community wellness project combining my conventional medical knowledge with traditional plant knowledge on the reservation where I used to live.
This sounds incredible. Can I ask what people, like me, who are outside the native community can do to support Native Tribes/Peoples and expose our children to the local indigenous communities?
So great !!
Is there somewhere we can follow you like Instagram!!! Please share the native herbs and teachings ❤
@@priscillanazar1152 Not at this time.
I'm studying to become an EMT. I'd love to see your progress with your project when you atart
I’m currently an advanced EMT In paramedic school. I’m just trying to combine knowledge of the body and body systems with traditional herbal medicine. Seems like a lot to take in but I’m enjoying it
A French press does a great job pressing out tinctures from herbs and isn’t too expensive.
Excellent idea
I love this idea!!! ❤❤❤
I used my corn silk this year for a tincture and it worked great for my kidneys! I started in herbalism two years ago because of how scarce medications were getting to find and trying to be self reliant plus my great grandmother was the towns healer and her loving memory inspired me as well. Love your channel!
I love this so much!!! Follow your roots!!!
I am dedicating this winter to learning about herbalism and I found a store near me that sells Frontier herbs and spices and it has been awesome! I’m so excited to grow and forage this year! Still lots to learn but I am loving getting to taste my own tea/tincture concoctions!
Yay!!! This is the perfect time to learn!
Me too!!
Me too ❤
My goals too!
I agree
I’m a UK herbalist and I create my own range of loose leaf herbal tea blends and they taste way better than herbal tea bags. My favourite thing at markets is to provide tasters to people and I’ve converted several to drink loose leaf instead of tea bags! 😄 Kate 🌱
I'm in the UK too. How did you get in to herbalism. Did you do courses? Or all self-taught? I'm in London 😊
Also loose tea leave are incredible
@@keturahleecoulibaly9267so am I! I’d like to know more as well. Glad to see there is a uk based community that wants to do this as well - I need some herbalist friends!!
Because of you ladies, I starting my own apothecary .
I have found a tremendous difference between teas from herbs I dried myself compared to store bought eg. Chamomile. The flavor is more intense. Who knows how old those herbs are in the store. I think the medicinal effect is definitely impacted. Maybe that is a good reason why ppl don't feel herbs are effective.
I highly agree
A herbalist once told me the herb shouldn't be older than a year. Those in stores sit for entire years. Plus all the travel and labour for getting there... .
Very good perspective.
Yeah the longer something sits the less potent. Imagine the nutrient levels after they spray all our food with that new Apeel stuff that makes an avocado look brand new after 30 days! Omg. So the fact they grow everything in dead soil means it's already lacking in 90% of the nutrients. A plant's gut microbiome is it's roots. The microbes make the nutrients plant available. When we use chemicals it kills the microbes. The vegetables might look good but they have the nutritional value of cardboard and I bet they genetically modify them to have darker color to fool you.
I grow as many herbs as I can
I love that you do this with your mom.
I just enrolled in an Herbal School!!! 🎉🎉🎉. I’m looking forward to learning more about medicinal herbs.
Can I ask which one you enrolled in?
Good morning beautiful SoilSista's! I'm definitely enjoying building our Apothecary and sharing the process with our SoilFamily 💕
Love it!!!!
So happy to find you beautiful ladies who share such great knowledge and fun laughs in herbalism
The higher you hold the Pyrex cup, the easier it is to pour. My husbands grandmother showed me this a long time ago.
Good tip!!!!
Up in Canada, there is a good book called Boreal Herbal and for those needing information on local and widespread plants, this is really very good. Thank you for sharing your love of herbs with us - it is one of the best gifts possible.
Oh that’s awesome!
Thanks for sharing this. I'm in Canada and am just starting my herbalism journey. This book is a great start.
Hi I’m in Canada and also doing herbs as part of my healing process. I don’t know to connect with others that’s into natural herbs.
You are a wonderful mother & daughter team.
I love your mother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Me too 💛💛💛
❤
Im so looking forward to starting a course, building my apothecary, and foraging for my healing medicines! Thanks for sharing your knowledge of everything we need to know! Blessings 🙏🏽💜💚💛
Thanks for always being so willing to share your knowledge. My daughter and I just started down the medicinal herbs road approximately 1 year ago. We started with making elderberry syrup and have expanded this year to drying and preserving plantain (which by the way came in handy that I knew to use it after a wasp attack this last summer 👍) and I just strained off my first batch of fire cider.
We are going slow because I feel it's better to know a lot about a few plants versus a little about a lot of plants. Anyway, I just want to say hi and thank you from the Edwards Homestead in south central Indiana. 👋
I love the sensible information that you are sharing. I have been 'studying' and 'using' herbs for over 30 years. It is so empowering to be able to use the 'weeds' that grow around me and those herbs/medicinals I grow in my own garden for my food, teas and to manage my own health. More power to people who are taking back control of their own lives through their food and what they choose to ingest. Keep up the good work! Sending aloha (love) from New Zealand 💞🌿
oooooh Hi from Wellington! it looks like dang autocorrect got your comment (aloha / aroha) lol. where abouts are you based? i've been getting into Rongoa and have been going into the bush heaps lately for foraging. i've linked up with one of our local community gardens here in Wellington - it's nice to know there are other like minded folks around aye
@@lunalongshadow7510 Kia ora, I'm in northern Auckland. I visit Wellington often, because I have lots of family there and my hubby plays in a band based in Wellington 🥰Been busy harvesting herbs from the garden and replenishing the apothecary. I love the idea of foraging, but I'm just not confident with our natives. Enjoy!
❤I love watching this channel!!! ❤️ I have learned so so much & I am so proud to say ((( me & my young daughter have started to forage & research different herbs, and mushrooms! Also with in 4 month I have made 5 different tintures & tea blends)))) Y’all are truly a inspiration to me!! May God Bless!!!! Oh an I am totally looking into getting a bee hive started this spring…
Great job!!! I love walking with my kids and foraging. You are making priceless memories for sure!
Love you both, such sweet souled, honest ladies. I do enjoy watching your videos over here in United Kingdom. I am studying herbs and am a Naturopathic Nutritionist and I learn so much from your videos. Thank you 🙏🏽
💛 thank you and that’s awesome!!!
I thought I would mention the type of strainer I use. I bought kitchen sink strainers and save one for draining items from quart jars. It fits right over a widemouth perfectly. I do not remember which UA-camer shared this idea. It works great.
Thanks again for sharing.
From experience I have learned that the best way to let that air pocket go away is to lift up the funnel slightly. That way everything can go in better.
I love how both of you handled the over-splatter with humor. This is a great how to for beginners. Golden rod and corn silk and Jewel weed are my first three tinctures so far ( a proud beginner here) and gave some of the corn silk tincture to a couple of friends who I know could use it. I also sent a link to one of your videos to help explain it and give him and her a point of reference for information.
Lol we constantly make a mess hahah 💛💛 I love that you are into this as well. I will forever be learning!
@@TheHoneystead lol. Messes are just the norm. I’m a senior and just ordered and received my first ever set of food and liquid funnels.😮hahaha. Have a great weekend.😊
Love having Fun while learning 💕
Thank you for sharing this info i know a man called (DREWI1) on UA-cam who cured any type of diseases with herbs him also help my friend to cure diabetes in just 21days i think herbs 🌿is the better Medicine.🌿
This is especially for me ! Thank you for everything you do. I’m so excited about my new journey! I have learned so much from you both.
Ohhhh how exciting!
I always learn from you gals!
Thank you for all you do and give to us. I’ve been learning on my own for years but only as I needed some sort of remedy. But I’m now trying to study herbalism on my own more throughly.
Thanks again!
Good for you!!!! 🙌🙌🙌🙌
Just love your videos and I always get so excited when I see you plug Cat Ellis's book. She's one of my good friends and I remember when she was working on it. So glad you all find it helpful, too! Thank you again for great content!
Yes lead by the Devine creator thank you for this information!
I love Strictly Medicinal seeds & their quaint & informative booklet.
I've just found your channel and I love it. I've kinda lost my drive in study but hoping the new year can be my fresh start to finish my first set of studies. I'm taking courses from the Wild Rose College of natural medicine and eventually be able to become a clinical herbalist. Thank you guys for keeping me inspired
You have such a lovely workspace! I'm just getting started and I'm loving your videos!
Thank you💛✨🐝
Recently found you ladies, and I want to thank you so much for doing what you do. I'm a retired RN and cert. herbalist from N.C. who has made a few tinctures, infusions, and teas. You make me want to do more. Isn't it wonderful to provide something that helps promote your body's own healing ability?! Thank you, again!
It so fun reading the books that I have bought. A few are books that you had recommended. My shelf has a few jars. I am greatful for the knowledge. Knowing that I can be able to help myself and family.
Thanks for the info. I just joined The American Herbalist Guild. I’m a newbie to this field and I’m looking forward to learning as much as I can.
You two bring my heart such joy!!
My miniature apothecary is only just 108 herbs right now, but I'm in the process of starting a permaculture medicinal garden of my own to add to it. Your apothecary setup is my next goal!! Watching your videos, I can feel and envision being in my own space.
Mother Earth is grateful for what you humans are doing. 💚💚💚
I love her setup too!! I love the idea of growing my own herbs too! good luck!
This was so wonderful to watch and to listen to when I was cooking, thank you so much for sharing yall's knowledge!
Life is messy! ♥ Just getting started with growing and using my herbs as an apothecary so excited to watch this series.
Just what I needed. Thank y’all.
Love to see shows like this. I ordered James Green's book and the prepper natural book while watching you. Now you'll have to excuse me I need to get back to your show. Love you guys
💛💛💛
I'm just getting started and so glad I came across your videos. I found this one very helpful. Thank you for sharing.
i loved both of your reactions when the cornsilk just plumped out into the bowl.
This information has been incredibly helpful! This is a new interest for me and I am SO excited to learn as much as possible. ♥️♥️
Thank you for this information. I found corn silk tea in an Asian grocery store and bought some It was quite tasty and I had no idea it was helpful for us. This video is helping me start using herbs more for my health. Blessings.
Thank you for the information. I will be coming back to this video a few times! I want to have a small apothecary and needed advice on how to start, this was perfect!
Bet her mom is so proud of her.
A fun, but informative vlog! Thanks for sharing! Many blessings to your family 🤗💕🇨🇦
Lol i would have totally made the same joke about taking someone slower with you into the woods 🤣 love your humor! Excited to watch this series
❤❤ I’m intrigued by everything I watched of yours in the last hour. New subscriber!! 😊 Thank you so much for sharing. And I LOVE the relationship of you two. What wonderful bonding and making memories!
Absolutely love you both. My husband and I are on this journey together. We bought property last year and have been gathering seeds to plant as much as we can. Thank you for sharing your journey and so much fabulous information. I could just sit and binge-watch your channel, and how you 2 are so peaceful to watch and listen to. Have a very blessed day.
So excited for your journey into Herbalism together…blessings to your homesteay

Thanks, Kaylee. Some fantastic ideas for Apothecary Christmas gift books & supplies!!!
💛💛💛
Wow thank you for pointing me in the right direction. Looking forward to the journey.
I think I would have named this blend “ Lovely Naptime” I love watching you two work together & love that you share your knowledge & skills. Please continue sharing your gifts 💕
This is so far my go to channel in my path to learn herbalism, so much wonderful information and recourses, Thank you both for sharing such a valuable content, perfect timing to go back to our real medicine without complications or bad side effects, Blessing to your family.
I love this channel, it's literally my goal life that I'm working towards to.
thank you so much !
it was very interesting and i learned a lot.
thanks again.
I have been blown away by what is in my own tiny little yard. In town. Not in country. Amazing.
Great video. I dried Goldenrod and put it in jars for tea and maybe tentures. I enjoy foraging but this year did not except the goldenrod and wineberries. It is definitely nicer when you have someone to go with you.
I want to learn more - plan to order some books.
This is so fortuitous that I stumbled across your Channel. Just this morning after watching Rain Country video I decided I would study herbalism. Thank you so much I am looking forward to your informative videos
I'm Very glad I found you, ive been researching tinctures and salve, i have cannabis roots to dig up still, and i have the time now to learn this art! Thank you beautiful ladies for sharing your knowledge, your show and intention!
love the mother and daughter duo
I found you two today by accident and I’ve watched 6 videos in a row! Thanks so much. Very glad to learn from another mom daughter learning plant medicine team. Loving the clear explanations, conversation with cool women. “We’re not afraid to get our hands dirty and learn something old” either. Thanks so much for all the shares🫶🏾
I could listen to use 2 all night thanks alot for ur information ❤
Amazing thank you for sharing ❤️
Hi, I love learning from you both. Thanks for all your videos.❤🧡💛💚💙💜
💛
This is such a great "Getting Started" video...
I have tried many of your tea blends and they are lovely . I am buying seeds now to grow a nice big herbal garden
I went to school to get some college education on behalf of a pharmacy technician double major & I graduated in November 2012
#goodluck #Thanks
Herbs are very under appreciated ... eheheh thanks 😎
When looking for a teacher, I would say make sure your teacher works with living plants and not just dried plant material ordered from companies. There's a difference between being an herbalist who has studied botany, worked directly with living plants, knows when to harvest and what plant parts to use and in what preparations and being a pharmacologist who just uses plant dried plant material and never goes out in nature to see how the plant grows through all the seasons and creates a relationship with the plants. Learn from a person and not just books and certainly not just the internet. Very nice introduction to herbalism.
Really loving your channel as very educational, your ease of teaching & showing everything. Thx for showing the Books too. I thrifted new clear bottles I plan to use as im going to keep in a box. I see also so making bottle covers is even prettier. I’m starting herbalism watching u. I’ve got 2 started… thx
I sew so I can make bottle covers with cute ribbon drawstrings
Thank you for all the great info!
the herb Lemon Balm is a good one.. smells like a lemon peel when you grab a leaf
It’s heavenly ✨
I ADORE lemon balm and it's one herb I use every day in my tea. It grows so well here in New Zealand and there are very few weeks of the year that I struggle to pick it fresh every day.
Absolutely love lemon balm
I can't thank you two ladies enough for your videos and encouragement you give with all you do. :)
I live near the Mountain Rose Herbs store in Eugene, OR, and can't recommend them enough. There is way too much to list of all they do to teach others about herbs, their benefits and how to use them.
Ohhh lucky you!!!
I would never again drink tea from a tea bag from the store. The little bags themselves that hold the tea, as well as the tea "leaves" itself have additives. Most of them have been sitting on a shelf for minimum many months, of not years.
I have just started taking a deep dive into herbalism, homesteading and can't soak up the information fast enough. These are the things that we should be taught. God has blessed us with a garden of all that we need.
And I agree with you on getting books. Too much is now available online, where it can be altered or modified. There is a reason this information is not taught to us. Many blessings to you, and thank you for this content.
I am very interested in this. Thank you for what you do
I love how you guys weren’t perfect hahaha laughed & got so much knowledge on how to mix. Enjoyed this so much thank you (:
thanks for the video and information. have a great day.
Corn silk will now be on my list for next year!!
I love this!
thank you for all the info!!!
💛
Thank you!🍄🐝🌻🧚
Mountain Maus has really good medicinal herbs also, and I like Pacific Botanicals too. I looked into becoming a registered herbalist 3-4 years ago, but there are not any Schools around my area. This is something everyone should know, especially the shape this world is now.
Thanks Sharing
PS: I enjoy your videos. More so when you are together. You guys are so much fun. This past summer I couldn't find goldenrod, which it is so strange. But I will scatter seeds. They are abundant in SC but I have 8 acres of land and no goldenrod! Never before. I want this beautiful herb back in my land.
I’ve ordered from Jean’s Greens in New York and her herbs are always so fresh🌿
❤
Just aquired a baby Goldenseal from Portland Nursery. Super stoked. I'm keeping it indoors for a year or two until it's grown enough for me to propagate. They grow so slow apparently and like to be under a canopy so I imagine it will be happy to be inside.
Good to know about golden rod I have a field of it in summer.
I just got my acceptance letter to American College of Health Sciences to get my Associate of Applied Science in Integrative Health Sciences majoring in Herbal Medicine :) I'm so excited to start in the fall :D
Learning from many resources! Thank you for what you are doing. One of my oldest and favorite medicinal books is Green Pharmacy by Dr James Duke.
Speaking of teas, I find using a few mint leaves when I can to be so much more effective and taste better than predried mint tea.
You mentioned how tea bags aren't the same and it's actually very interesting because when a planet grows in the wild they have microbial and symbiotic relationships with other species such as fungus, which do not happen in a cultivated and sterile setting, thus they have other chemical properties from the presents of these other cells and the effect will be different. The benefits of many herbs may very well come from the combination of chemicals produced from these interspecies relationships and not just the isolated herb.
Must be wonderful to live in an area of the country that you have so much available to forage. I live in the desert southwest.....ain't much around here but cactus! LOL I try and grow some basic herbs and have to buy those I cannot get to grow due to the heat here. They are not cheap....love your channel.
#GRATITUDE #FreeDrYork #FreeLarryHoover #FREEMIND #LOVEIAM #IMPRESSED
Your wearing my favorite color. May I ask where you purchased your shirt. Love the video. Lots of books on my Christmas list. Thanks
I'm just getting into a little of this
I live in VA too
I had to laugh at the beginning messes….. that’s so me !!!
I just found you two and you are now one of my top ten channels ♥️. Thank you for sharing book recommendations. I needed this info.
I appreciate the info on credible sources for the Herbal Guild to find local classes and online seminars because I want to take classes asap.
Please provide some books with recipes. I need to learn how to create the tinctures, salves, etc.
💛💛💛
I’m currently creating my very own Tomb and would love to learn about it herblism and add what I have learned down into it.
Where do you purchase your brown apothecary jars? What sizes are best? I can’t wait to watch more of your videos. It’s nice to see mother and daughter enjoying the same healthy knowledge. I miss my mother. She was so full of wisdom and could grown anything. Thanks
I love watching your Mom and you. You guys inspire me more every time. I have been practicing herbalism for a few years now. My Apothecary is a lot smaller but I have around 30 tinctures and quite a few elixirs. I forge as much as possible and also buy from Frontier, Mountain Herbs and Starwest. Have you started selling your tinctures yet and are you having any workshops planned at your Apothecary yet? God is Good.
Female herbalists used to be hung and burned at the stake under Christianity, The church wanted to reduce a woman role in medicine before this period healing was considered woman work, Stitches , herbal medicines, midwifery, minor surgery, sowing, weaving, brewing, cooking, cleaning and some of those herbs in those ancient pagan medicines are used in modern medicine. Weaving is so connected to woman that it exists in pagan mythologies, One of the more common ones is the norms. Sowing, stitching, wounds and cloth, cooking and making herbal medicines. A Mans hands are normally more suited to wielding a sword then a needle and in modern times attempts to murder and maim by doctors are overwhelmingly male. Male doctors want to wage war against their patients normally without the patient realizing the doctor wants them dead or maimed. The return of woman to medicine has some benefits to mankind.
