Nothing better than the author, not CGI reading their own words, so you get the true inflections/pronunciations……❤️

I grew milky oats for the first time this year and have a milky oat tincture finishing on my counter. I am thrilled to be able to (easily!) grow my own nervine and be a bit more self-sufficient in supporting my mind and body.

God is good! I heard about your oats in that last video you mentioned them and I was excited to hear more. Thank you for talking so much about your experience with them! I decided I needed to get some. Then I remembered... we already had some. It couldn't be the same... but it IS!!! and I have a big bag of them... not some little seed packet! but like a pound of them!
Now I need to look into how to grow them to maturity and save seeds from them! I haven't been excited about anything in quite a long time. Herbalism has shown me excitement about something again! thank you for being a part of that!

Kaylee... could you explain more about the differences ...uhm... like the geeky education side of it.... about intention of purpose.... like medicinal and mineral, and how the alcohol/tincture targets the medicinal aspects and the water/tea targets the mineral aspect? and educate about how to know when to utilize each.... do you go for minerals when you are feeling zapped of energy or is that more of a medicinal intention..... I hope I am making sense. I guess I'm just not quite sure how to ask what I'm asking?
Also... do you (or anyone in the Honeystead Community, have a good recommendation for a book that talks about those kinds of things.... I guess I'm asking for a recommendation leaning more towards like a textbook an herbalist would learn from in school rather than like "field guide" type content?

How fantastic Kaylee….you’re so right, Mind Body and Spirit are all connected so when you’ve had such a fabulous weekend with other folk it’s good to have some nurturing time for you as you process it all. Then you’ve got a newspaper interested enough to come out and do a feature article about your efforts, ideas….Wow! Your own writing is a wonderful record resource and a natural extension is to go into print, become an author, hardwork but so exciting. I loved the whole video through,; following how you prepare your tinctures…this was so interesting. A quick fun question….did you check/sample the vodka first just to make sure it hadn’t ‘gone off’ 😉 our Christmas pudding recipe uses brandy and one of the stages we’ve built in is to make sure the brandy hasn’t ‘gone off’ before adding it to the mixture Hic!!

I watched this video yesterday and thought, "Oh man! I really wish I'd known this and grown oats!" Then today I went out into my jungle of a yard. Before we left for 2 weeks we had cleaned out our chicken coop and spread it over the yard to improve the soil and hope that something would grow. We've tried for 5 years to grow grass or anything green and couldn't since it's been so hot and dry. Then this year we've had more rain than I ever remember and we left for two weeks and came back and we have wheat, grass, peas, grasses, sunflowers and all kinds of things growing! So I just walked around and harvested milky stage oats for my own tincture!
