Liza's stepmother was living here for many years after Vincente Minelli passed away. The will stated she would be allowed to stay there until her death or at Liza's expense at another place. The property wasn't maintained by her very well and Liza ended up moving her to another place. Liza put the house up for sale in 2000 and the stepmother complained to the courts and it wound up in the gossip magazines that Liza was not helping her and that the house was in shambles. Liza sold the house and had to pay the new owners rent for the stepmother to live there until she died in 2009. The new owners made plans to tear the house down and rebuild a Mediterranean style home, but it was rejected by the Beverly Hills Planning Commission. Then plans were set to restore the home, but those plans have not been completed. Some cleanup is reported, but nothing significant recently.

Susan Roche This video is over six years old. It was abandoned well before that. It appears vandals had already found their way to it before he ever arrived there. The place had been completely ransacked and left open to the elements. I’m sure many have been there since without ever having seen this video as well. Also just to add I heard they are currently remodeling this mansion so worry not.

Thomas Gunnz homeless peoples problem isn't shelter, they have mental health problems stopping them from leading normal lives. besides the maintenance of a mansion would be far too expensive compared to low cost housing.

    • @GWOGUNNZ
      @GWOGUNNZ 9 років тому +3

I can dig what you're saying. I would say a certain percentage of the homeless has the mental health issue card. Thats a different problem in itself. Theres also a certain percentage of homeless that are in that spot due to other issues. Unemployment, or cost of living, for example.

You guys really should have done a little research into those peoples lives BEFORE you went thru the house. You really act dumb and so disrespectful to the former owners. I don't know how long Judy Garland lived there but I guess you have no idea how successful 'The Wizard of Oz' was and still is an American Icon and very BIG part of our American Heritage. You could have talked a little more instead waiting til many minutes into this. It's like you just stumbled on this rather famous mansion with a camera and didn't know much about that place, you have to remember there are a wide variety of viewers here on yt.. Act decent, provide details and hide the tattoos(must be an LA thing, lol) Now that it's being remodeled you can't go back, you blew a great opportunity. I give the video a grade of D+, sorry fellas.

That's all any of us do. They had more money, sure, and more clout and respect and things of that nature, but they were still people. They faced demons and hardships. I really wish someone else would go in there (if they were able to now, after THIS atrocious video is online) and do something respectful. Also, do you think that was Judy who wrote her name on the wall or some respectful fan? cuz these two perras here aren't shit.

Supposedly, there were access to the tunnels from a lot of these Hollyweird people homes where they would have people go there and perhaps down to these tunnels where they did their dirty work. This is where they hid or lived if they were really reptillians. I guarantee you probably will find this if a large group got together with protection and camaras. I didn't use to believe any of this crap, but the evidence is there. Maybe they will fake an earthquake and bomp the underground to hide it but it seems to make sense. The Heavenly Father will take care of them. I see why the old timers didn't want their family mixing with show business people. Disgusting and to hell to the guilty ones. Great property. Built in the 1920's in the French Regency style. It stands (or stood, as the case may be) on the junction between West Sunset Boulevard and North Crescent Drive. Appears larger than it actually was - hard to believe that it was only 3 bedroom and all were interconnecting, which is unusual. All rooms in the house were a decent size, though, especially the main reception rooms. Love that large retro projection TV in the dining room. Wonder what brand it was? Possibly an Hitachi? The Minnellis had good musical taste too; I noticed Paul Weston's 'Music for Romanicng', 'The Shearing Piano', and Dean Martin's 'You're Nobody Til Somebody Loves You' among those LPs upstairs.

I was saddened watching this odd tour. If I'm understanding correctly, Judy was already out of the picture at that time, and believe love lost can create mental and emotional destruction of the mind and soul, as this house quietly died. I didn't think the building materials were high quality and thought the choices rather cheapened the appearance they were intending. Surprisingly, some things looked relatively new, like the carpet and couch. I agree with others, I would want to know everything about the previous occupants, history and timelines before setting foot on the property, and although vacant, it still felt like an eerie invasion of privacy.

The house seen in this video is definitely the former home of Vincent Minnelli and his wife after his divorce with Judy Garland. He passed away in 1998. Leaving his estatoows to daughter Liza. Although the estate was left to Liza, there was a provision in his will for his wife to live in the house as long as she wished. Liza wanted her to relocate to another house or condo. She on the other hand chose not to move. At one point she had a lawsuit against Liza for elder abuse breach of contract etc. Which was eventually dropped. She live in the home until her death in 2003 i believe. The house was then sold..buyer remains anonymous. There the house has sat . Falling into sad disrepair. I live in palm springs and travel to los angeles to see my general practitioner monthly. A friend of mine who knows the area well, drove into Beverly Hills . The house sits on a corner lot off Sunset Blvd. On the opposite corner is the famed Beverly Hills Hotel. The property is prime real estate. Built in 1925 and remodeled in the 1960s. Its a sad sad situation that this once elaborately maintained estate has fallen into such disrepair. We actually were bold enough to enter the property through a seperation in the fence in front. Its a very busy intersection and we went unnoticed into the house. The front door was wide open . We went around the side and entered through the pool area. Its definitely been well traveled by many people. Its in sad disrepair . A lot of household items appliances remain throughout. To see the the architectural digest photo shoot and to see the same drapery and wallpaper now some 30 years is very sad to say the least. It would be amazing for the owner of this property to restore it. It seems that it is in limbo..lost in time.

After a little bit of digging, it turns out that the 5,800-square-foot estate, built in 1925 and redesigned by noted Hollywood Regency architect John Elgin Woolf, was once owned by the late stage and screen director Vincente Minnelli, and that the house was fairly recently at the center of a bitter public battle between Vincente's daughter Liza Minnelli and her step-mother Lee Minnelli that resulted in a lawsuit and kept the house in sale limbo for four years.Vincente Minnelli died in the Beverly Hills house in 1986............and he is STILL there!!!"WOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" :)

Vincente Minnelli should never have left the house to Liza Minnelli without making provisions for his current wife himself. Vincent Minnelli should have left the house to his wife or to Liza, BUT made provisions for his wife himself. He could have very easily purchased a different house/property in his wife's name while he was alive & used it as a rental so that income was coming in & go directly to the wife's account & that she could move in to that home, sell it or keep renting it out at the time of his death, whatever she chose to do.
What kind of marriage was that? His last wife was at his mercy.
That was unkind & certainly not loving. Blood related family can be quite cruel to each-other, let alone a relative by marriage.
Vincent Minnelli literally put his daughter/Liza & wife in a very challenging position which was badly done.
There were no winners with all the feuding between Liza & the widow of V. Minnelli. Liza did not live there, but she wanted the last wife of her father out??? So Liza cut of utilities? Unkind again. What was the point? Liza did not need the money. Even if the widow was Cruella DiVille, what happened to humanity or a sense of reason by Liza?
So now it sits, abandoned after all that feuding. What a waste of time, life, unkindness, thoughtlessness & compassion

This happens to a lot of "old money" families. Rooms (and yards) fall into disrepair, so they just close the doors and use different rooms. I shot a show in that house, in 1987, and it was already falling apart. Lee Minnelli (Vincente's widow) was a nice enough lady, but totally incapable of taking care of that big old place by herself. I'm sure that it was a wreck when she died.

Here's a link on how the house got this way... some reason it won't post, but its on curbd.com. if that is how it"s spelled. Apparently, his last wife fought to live there after Vincent died in 86. He said she could, but also said Liza could manage it. So Liza offered her a condo, and the wife wouldn't do it. She was there at age 94 in 2002, and Liza cut the power, and the lady sued her. New owners bought it in 2006, and left it to rot.

I talked to the polices about that...they said they would arrest whoever if whoever jjumps over the fence to Minnelli's home. Someone owns this abandoned property until someone affords to buy it then......You all can not go in there or you get arrested.....I contacted the owner who owns this property and asked if I'd go in there and look around to see if I like it or not....She said Ok go ahead and let me know.....I can go there with my friend soon.....Well I am done!....Have a good one!

You would have to go there with the owner or you would fined for trespassing on private property. Every Tom,Dick and Harry would be telling the officer the same thing. Home owner or realty representative no other exception.

The court case behind this reads like something out of the twilight zone.
There is really no nice way to put it, other than this... Two self entitled, self-absorbed, high feeling, high maintenance women fighting over something neither one of them earned.
The "Old women" that lived in the house since the death of her husband in the 80s was still living the life of a (Very) rich person, even though all of it was at the expense of her daughter in law.
According to court documents, during some years this "Old Women's" living expenses were higher than Minnelli's (Liza was paying for this women to live better than she was living).
Even though Vincente Minnelli estate (what was willed to Liza) would have allowed Lee (The Old women) to live to be 200 and live that lifestyle (also part of the will to take care of her until she died, and to live in the home), it still wasn't enough for Liza.
More or less it was a case of two spoiled women fighting over money to live a pampered lifestyle, one a millionaire in her own right, with an inherited estate worth millions Vs an Old Lady that thought she was a millionaire and expected to be treated as such.
I have nothing but contempt for both of them.

I do not agree. A husband is to provide and protect. Especially for people born in 1903. That is what he did when he was alive and that is what he wanted in his death. He put Liza in charge because she was younger. Liza was given more than enough money to keep his wife in the same way she was accustomed too. The "old woman" lived in that house for 50 years. Many people, men or women, want to die in their home. Even people who do not live in mansions want to do so. My grandmother dies within a few months once she found out my Aunt was going to put her in a home. She actually died the week before she was to leave. It can cause health and mental problems. It is only recently people do not feel the wives should be taken care of and the kids should get everything. It is very sad!

Not in Beverly Hills! Plus, CA's taxes are insanely high on everything. They tax everyone to the hilt to support their gov't programs. I don't think you'd ever get a "deal" on it. Maybe a deal considering a move-in ready structure, but I think that place is G-O-N-E... (as in ready for a wrecking ball). The land is worth more than the structure.
