today I went to visit Tina Turner's home that was also used in What's Love Got To Do With It movie, and was surprised to see they are doing a complete remodel, and the crew allowed us to walk thru and take anything before it was all being trashed. enjoy

This is the former home of Ike and Tina Turner. Also, the filming location of "What's Love Got To Do With It", the highly dramatized movie version of her book, with many inaccuracies.
Omg. I just watched your video. Myself and my mom has been a huge huge fan of Tina Turner. Omg this is amazing. I had a few records of them that was a gift from my mom but sadly my children and I recently lost everything when or home burned down. I always wanted to go see this home. This is amazing. I love this. Much love and support always.
Interestingly enough, I actually wasted time watching "What's Love Got To Do With It" to see this house and IT'S NOT IN THE VIDEO! That video was filmed OUTSIDE in the city. You are full of crap.
So true after watching unsang I found out that both her kids were not by Ike in fact she was dating spider and had a child with him b4 Ike took her... Also she lived with Ike and his woman from the movie b4 she hooked up with Ike... So yes the movie did not tell the whole truth
Daze with Jordan the Lion, the pool hur looks like one a the locations they used in the boogie nights movie(just sayin looks similar)😎
that Adam west art is AWEsome!!
My mother went there in the 70's because one of her friends dated one of the band members. Tina gave my mother a pair of shoes that she still has today.
The Oculus lies stfu
So cool 👍
+Detria Blair hey beautiful
+noemi la79 a real beauty
Hagane Len stfu. boys like you lose out, and finish last for being scared to talk to WOMEN.
RIP Tina Turner! I’m glad to see that you took your power back and lived your life the way you wanted to! You were such an inspiration! 🙏🏾
Amen she is free from all harm
Concordo. Nao terá outra igual, podem até imitar mas a voz dela tda suingada, nunca o terao. Descanse Tina...saudades!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
When Tina said she wanted nothing that reminded her of that tragedy she meant it. This is mindblowing. So glad she is happy and shared her story. With us.
As a Tennessean and fan of Tina Turner, I'm sitting here watching whatever I find interesting about the lady on UA-cam. Tina's passing has left a void in the music industry that will never be filled. I may take a drive to Nutbush later this week.
Her Music Is For An Eternity...Besides, She Hasn't Sung In Many Years -AT LEAST 10 Yrs. -Eh.
Her HBO documentary was her last hurrah. A must watch. Rest in peace Tina. 🕊️🌹
It's sad to think about how many tears Tina shed in that house
Tina and other women!
A lot happened in that house, good, bad and the ugly. I can only imagine the stories.
Sad but so very much True😢🙏🏼
Imagine how cocaine residue there would be
Imagine how many tears she would shed if that tree fell on her.🦋
After learning that Tina passed, I looked for this video to watch it all over again and see where she used to live back in the 70s.... I hope someone buys this House and bring it back to the way it used to be.. RIP Tina 🕊 thank you for the music you left us to hear and honor you 😢
Me too. Incredible at the time, and I was soo jealous 😊

It was remodeled 3 years ago
To think that the wall paper is still up even from that era/decade is insane !
With them low ceilings, that's creepy like ike was
The fact that that stuff was still there is mind blowing. Never knew the movie was at the original home. That’s one of my fave movies. Gonna go watch during the epidemic lol
Yes me too...
I didnt know it was the real house till later when they started doing interview, and said so😂🤣😅🙃
If those walls could talk
Tamar Terrell ikr...
Don't doesn't bear thinking about
Tamar Terrell okay !!
Tamar Terrell girlll
Eat the cake Anna Mae....
One of the coolest things I’ve seen on UA-cam
Me too
I'd have to cleanse that house with all kind of sage.
Why the sage
I know that's right
Yes!
Damnit Man just burn a whole damn tree in there 🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Sage won’t help it’ll open doors for more unclean spirits
Wish I had seen her in concert. Re-watching this amazing episode and mourning the loss of the one and only Tina Turner! It all goes by so fast, but I'm glad she is released from pain.
My aunt was Ike and Tina's children's baby sitter. She stated the way that the movie was documented was nothing, compared of how he really did her.
Wowwww Tina said this too. Said the book was nothing
Omg 😢
Oh wow😮😮
Yeah leave it to Hollywood get her story wrong maybe they decided to get in to the real nitty gritty mm
I would have bought that house and made it a museum. Or a bed and breakfast place.
It's a quiet residential area. View Park is also considered a historic district; zoning restrictions will not allow that.
Yessss like it was frozen in time
Mirkinla let her live her dream😂
I could do the animatronics.
It definitely could be considered a landmark, but it would really be up to Tina's kids whether it would be worth being commemorated. If you watch "What's Love Got To Do With It" again, you might have wanted to rent a bulldozer.
This is by far the best video I've watched during this pandemic. Thank you!
Oh my i thought the same thing lol
Same
Totally agree wow amazing!!
Dorothy Hogge watch Rock Hudson the movie came out 1990. Watch Girl Positive it's really good. There's another movie I'm going to watch after I get my new bank card it's called Star 80. It's about Dorothy Stratton. Playmate of the year who gets shot in the face by her boyfriend. Maybe my suggestions will help you.🌈
We loved this, thanks Jordan and Jah 💛
That's Amazing !!!!! I almost drowned in that very pool ! It's also where I learned to swim on the same day ! Thank you Tina and Maxine Porter Womack for inviting all us kids to that pool party !! I'll never forget it ! Wow. What memories. I wish my Mom was still alive to see this. Thanks Dude. This was fantastic. Do this with Donna Summer home. Although I've never visited her home , I did meet her twice. Ironically enough, Donna is mentioned in What's Love Got To Do With It ? I feel like I'm in a time machine !
Howard Broadnax LIES
That’s amazing! I would love to meet her
We got a troll in here!
Don't hate me because I'm lucky.
Tasha Daniels get a life loser
I wish they could have kept that house in its original state and use it as a tourist site but you guys are lucky to have a chance to walk in and grab a piece of History thanks for sharing that awesome video
I can't believe they destroyed this. It's a piece of music history. I'm outraged. I guess soon there will be no Neverland or Graceland. It's sad.
Ikr I think that's fucked up smh
Its in a subdivision. They can't have people trecking all over that neighborhood. Tour buses coming and going. Ever been to Graceland?? That took up over half elvis Presley Blvd just for PARKING. Elvis first home is in a neighbor hood just like this. Thats why it or Vernons home is NOT on the tour there.
CONGRATULATIONS
@@victornow5221 neverland is not the same either
I’m guessing the house is in Baldwin Hills. Which was known as the “Black Beverly Hills”. My grandparents lived in Baldwin Hills from 1956ish to 1975. My grandparents sold their house to Esther Rolle. She played the mother on “Good Times”. And she originated the role of “Florida Evans” on the show “Maude”. My grandma was always super proud that Esther Rolle had bought her house.
@Katrina Olsen , hi. That's so awesome. Did u ever meet Ester Rolle ??? I wish I could visit some of the stars old homes. Lol. That would be very fascinating
Fellow vlogger German in Venice just gave this vlog a shoutout..RIP Tina Turner
Ike didn’t want Tina keeping her married name because he thought without it she’d be all washed-up. That’s all she wanted from their divorce, her married name with no strings attached. And I personally think he beat her to control her. He didn’t want her having any self-esteem, because with self-esteem she’d have the confidence to leave him and he couldn’t tolerate that. So he tried to beat the self-esteem and confidence right out of her. He knew without her HE’D be all washed up. She was his meal ticket and he knew it.
Why am I just now finding out I live 8 minutes away from Ike and Tinas old house😩
Rhyaaa F ME TOOO!!
I'm seriously jealous!
Baldwin Hills was home to many Black Hollywood stars like Ray Charles, Della Reese, Maya Angelou.
I wonder if Tina has seem this video?
I grew up in the Baldwin Hills/Windsor Hills neighborhood.
Holy crap!!!! You hit the mother load of mother loads 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Lmaooo Tammy!!! So random
We still call our neighborhood the Black Beverly Hills! I’ve lived here since the 80’s and our neighborhood is quiet and well kept.
Ohgrowup1 😂😂😂 so what y’all better than mfs?
MKE ON FIRE MAGAZINE I know it’s a beautiful Neighborhood
MKE ON FIRE MAGAZINE I don’t think this comment was made to make you feel less than
Darlene Ullah I didn’t say that for him to feel that way..... he’s doing that on his own. 😞
Love that !!!!
Just got through watching your video of Ike and Tina Turner house, just so you know when I was a little kid my aunt knew Tina Turner & the Ike's So my aunt my mother and I went to that house I remember sitting down on that couch in that house I remember how it was just like in the movie its exactly how that house was great memories I also with my aunt and my mother went to Ray Charles house in the same neighborhood area Baldwin Hills and still right today it is called Baldwin Hills where all our black celebrities had lived .
Very cool story
The color of the washers and dryers back then wasn’t called green, they were called avocado.
Lol,your showing your age.
Yes my mom had a green washing machine.
Very Ttue
😂😂😂😂
Which is a shade of green 🤦🏽♀️
I’m sure she wants that house demolished, I can’t even imagine the beatings and tears she went through in that house!!!
Wow! Some of these old celebrity houses are a preserved time-capsule of treasures. I can't believe all the vintage stuff and memorabilia you scored, and for it to be still intact and left in the house everywhere. Definitely a worthwhile trip. Weren't those 1960s bungalows low? Long and narrow. A very cool tour indeed, love your videos and vlogs!
Fascinating relics but all this is from the time Tina calls her “ugly life.” I doubt she would ever want to visit there.
Hello sir
I would’ve went crazy to just be able to step foot onto their property.
Me too. That's history, Tina a Legend
I really wish they would have let it stand as a memoriam like The Motown studio in Detroit. Tourist like myself would've loved to tour inside.
Thicckness right? Eventually they’d make more by charging tourists to walk through then they would by selling for a lump sum!
@@lindseydowney926 Yes!!!! Instead they devalued it with this suburban face lift. 😫
Would've been nice I would've wanted souvenirs also
I love how passionate you are about telling the story!
... This house is the size of a penny compared to her HUGE castle 🏰 she lives in Now!
The best revenge is success! But rih Ike 🙏
That house was, and still is pretty cool...who needs a giant house?
@@christinehutchins123 Ms. Tina does .
Kaleb Chavez Yes but more important,The happiness she now has away from this culture and the way the media treats celebrities like her. That is why she left America to avoid the questions that would have been constantly asked about a past she has long forgotten.God bless that woman such a beautiful “SOUTHERN BELLE “
@@migmor6718
She's living her best life that's for Sure! 👠
That house needs to be BLESSED and Smudged of all negative energy left there..
Nah, just go in and say, in the name of Jesus Christ I command any evil to leave this place. Burning plants does nothing but make a stink!
This has to be one of the dopest walk thru ever!!! It’s amazing as well as incredibly sad.
Always remember, One person's trash, is another person's Treasure😍😍😍...this was really cool
I wish I could have been there to take something. I love Tina’s music, ambition, and courage!!!
She did so much better leaving that living situation in the past. She got the last laugh!💯
TINA TURNER , Is still The Queen of ROCK !
Rock? Um, someone needs to learn their ABC's of music genres ...
nah niki minaj is
Tell me something I don't know! Say a prayer for her bc her health hasn't been too great from an article I've read.
@@DarkVoidDan -- Please!
Yes, Yes she still is and will always be!
Looks like they didn't care about what was left. Who would blame her. Too many bad memories I'm sure.
So much unhappiness there. Heartbreaking
That check is signed by Alline Bullock- Anna Mae Bullock (aka Tina)’s older sister and manager for the Ikettes.
FYI..... it’s still called the “Black Beverly Hills” in 2020
I never heard that
Not for much longer...whites are taking over. All the older generation blacks have passed or moved. Unfortunately because that was the best generation. :(
Thank you! I have a house in Baldwin Hills Estates in the Don’s and that’s where I grew up . That area where this house is called View Park in Windsor Hills. Who’s telling this story???
Stasi Robinson Yeeessss! That’s exactly what it’s called!!!
@@truth2powershow Ah, the Don's. Don Felipe, Don Miguel, Don Quixote, etc. These are all streets in Baldwin Hills. My aunt and my ex are LA natives and I think it's cool how they refer to that particular area as the Don's.
For those who don't know or are curious Ike died in 2007 from a cocaine overdose, and two other conditions Tina currently lives in Switzerland and is remarried her and Ike's oldest son just died recently just a little update
(EDIT): since people are still beefing over this year old comment ( which i can't believe) it's worded ike and tina's son because when you become MARRIED their children become yours that's why there's step parents blood has NOTHIN to do wit it yes I know she had a son that wasn't Ike's does that make him not the father cause he wasn't blood related NO if I was wrong about him bein the oldest FINE but he did die and ike and tina ARE his parents lawd 🤦🏾
Fun fact. That wasnt Ike's biological son.
@@lilejamie93 But he did adopt him since he was married to Tina so technically it is
@@lilejamie93 he wasn't Tina's biological son but he was Ike's son with his girlfriend before Tina. When she found out about Tina she dropped them off to them. Tina later adopted him and his brother.
@@king.woods_tv722 he is Tina's biological son....not Ike's.
Nobody cares Ike was batshit crazy that’s why he could never stay married for long nobody wanted to deal with him
domestic violence is never nice, i adore Tina Turner, im sorry she had to go thru that but her story can touch many young females lives forever!!!
the check was signed by Tina's sister who was the leader of the "Ikettes" and also wrote songs for Ike and Tina. Good find. That place was a like a time capsule.
It's actually still a very nice place, I wouldn't mind staying there if they refurbished & cleaned it all back up at all. But boy if them walls could talk 😕
Chloєë Hamilton that house is probably haunted
Phenomenal Woman haunted? By negative energy maybe?
Phenomenal Woman why would it be haunted? No one died there...
Phenomenal Woman Haunted by what?
Chloєë Hamilton Ike would probably move right on back in there with you 😂
That's so amazing, "What's Love Got To Do With It" is one of my all time favorite movies. I never get tried of watching that movie👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I was totally blown away by your tour of Ike and Tina Turner's home. Those collector's items that you framed may be worth a lot of money in the future.
The "after" pictures on the Zillow listing show quite a transformation by the contractor. 4263 Olympiad Dr. for those interested.
somerville99 wooow!! Thanks for sharing! So cool
Omg it's gorgeous!!!
im sure that house holds some very violent memories for Tina.smh
Tasneem Basit the new owners need to smoke it out with sage
@@kristinam7928 lmao 😂😂
It would of took Tina at those moments to had been a strong black woman way back then to take her future to where she wanted it,instead of an abusive man to use and abuse her. Enough is Enough. I would have been saying," knom ke nurrang ho after every time i stomped on his head. When an abusive man is having an orgasm while on top of a woman, thrust your hand into his throat as in the hand gesture,as if your saying" heil hitler" aimed into the soft cartilage of his throat ! The coughing from him and the time spent from him trying to regain his inhaling to get oxygen into his lungs, should give u sufficient enough time to whoop his ass and still call the police for his disrespectful ass. Then move on and enjoy your life. Ain't nobody got time for that.. 😉👋🏃
Crystal Swirlz sad
She said you must understand through the touch of your hand makes my pulse react.
When Ike sold that house you'd think he'd have sold every possible thing that would have made him money. Perhaps he upped the price of the house itself because of all that was left inside. Personally I wouldn't want any of it since it's all so tainted with sadness. Tina's beautiful soul suffered in that place, and the children who witnessed it all, too. Thank God she mustered the strength to get out.
Thank you for showing us this piece of history.
28:32 he never smiled and poor tina had a fake smile, couldn't imagine her life with a drug addict,so glad she made it away from ike,he was pure evil,u go tina
I would of left it the way it was so sad they remodeled
Tina hated the house when Ike decided to remodeled the house in the early 1970's. She stated in her book she hated the green in her kitchen.
Just control smh never loved her.
I could see why to the house look better before
She wasn't a hater but she probably loathed the choices of what you could get for your money .Paints were very basic old colour cards had anput 8 - 16 basic shades and unless you knew craftsman you weren't going to get things jobs done quickly with exclusivity .
I’d be afraid of Ike haunting that joint. Especially after tearing it up.
Quick fact: The check from 1962 that the Narrator shows us was signed by Alline Bullock, which was as many of us know, Tina's older sister. Alline sadly passed away in 2010.
The check was made out to Sam Rhodes, who was the bass player of Ike’s band, The Kings of Rhythm. Oddly, it was around this time (1962) that Ike had fired him. The Ikettes were part of the revue as backing vocalists on tour also during this time with a revolving lineup, though one member, Jessie Smith, had been involved with Sam Rhodes and temporarily quit the Ikettes after Turner fired him. As far as the check’s signature, it was Tina’s sister Alline Bullock, who had been a manager of the Ikettes in the early 60’s. An incredible find and a fascinating memento of music history from the time when female backing vocalists emerged as popular and successful groups of their own. I hope you keep it - you ended up with a choice collection that day!
You hit the memorabilia jackpot! That was soo opportune that you went on that day and got to go in and was allowed to take stuff! Good on ya Jordan' You really are a LION! Love you!
This video was two years ago and I'm still jealous that you got so lucky!!! How cool to be able to walk thru and take items you wanted.
My father actually worked for Tina Turner once to set up her stage for a concert, and he talked with her and said she was a very humble woman and they got along, especially since they both practiced Buddhism. May she RIP.
YOUR ITEMS DEFINITELY HAVE VALUE NOW! REST IN PEACE TINA!
I like that you're so respectful while going through the house. You definitely deserve to take stuff to save and show us that otherwise would have been thrown in that big blue dumpster.
But stealing at the same time. Not cool
This is so bittersweet. I have always been a fan of Tina Turner and I am happy that she got out of that bad situation.
Omg How special to be able to walk through and be able to get items wow I would’ve been so happy
Bet those couches have some good stories to tell.
This is so interesting, I once lived across the street from that home. I was there when the movie 🎥 was made. Stay blessed

Wish it could be a museum like Graceland. Would love to see it.
Anna Mae Butler
I wish they had left it and turned it into a tourist siteb
That's what I was thinking. Almost make it museum-like, since it was SO CLOSE to the way it was. But since it's in a neighborhood, I'm sure it wouldn't be allowed.
I've watched the movie and can't believe he treated her that way. I won't say what I think of him but so glad you got to go inside her house. I'm calling her Anna Mae since Ike picked her name and doesn't deserve the recognition.
suzanne Baker sorry to tell you that some years back it came out that a lot of things was not true about there relationship
She faught for her stage name in court, you'll remember..:)
Around 1982 or 1983, I was in a bar in Dallas, and while waiting for a drink at the well, I noticed a wildly dressed lady in spiked heels, a fur jacket (it was late spring going into summer in Dallas!) and wild hair ahead of me ordering her drink. She walked away from the well and I stepped up to get my drink and asked the bartender who she was because she was definitely different than the clientele that was there. He said Tina Turner. Mind you this was before Private Dancer came out and made such a big splash. I asked the bartender "You mean Nutbush City Limit and Proud Mary, that Tina Turner?" He replied the one and only. One of my mild brushes with fame. She was there with a friend, I think it was one of J Paul Getty's grandsons. I met him at a later date, a bazaar experience I will not get into here.

Very nice memories of you & Lenard together with his family. Sad to hear he passed away. I’m seeing this vlog in 2022. Thank you for the time & effort you put in this vlog while recovering from the injury mentioned at the beginning. Nice seeing Jah too. ❤️🙏🏻🐕🦺🌴💐🌹
Second time I've watched this and it's truly amazing that the people who bought the house from Ike & Tina still had all of the mementos. Great find, Jordan. You should have called Scott Michaels when you found this gold mine. I'm sure that he would have loved going thru the "stuff" for his museum.
I took everything that I had from the house to Scott michaels and let him chose as much as he wanted for the museum.. I didn't want it all for myself, but I didn't want them to throw it all away during construction either, and they told us that's what was going to happen
Scott has already been there & taken some things!
My Dad and brother owned a music venue in the late 60’s and early 70’s. Ike and Tina Turner were one of the acts during a weekend concert and my Dad said said he hated Ike. Ike never took his eyes off Tina. He had to get high before going on stage which made them late, his fault yet he was blaming her and at one point grabbed her hair, back of her head and shoved them shoved almost making her fall but she held it together. If you knew my Dad, boy, Ike was lucky. My Dad said took everything to not say something or punch him. But they had a concert to run and needed to keep things moving since they were late.
Jackie Rains \ I saw Ike and Tina perform in Philly at Uptown Theater for $2. along with other acts, I was 20 yrs old, ;) it was 1962.
Jackie: In her book, she shares how Ike woke her up in the wee hours of the morning, making her get out of bed and cook some food to bring to their recording studio. I guess he and the musicians were laying tracks, etc. The studio was called Bolic Sound, on LaBrea Blvd. in Los Angeles. It is still there....though I think it's just sitting there. It was a very short 5 maybe 10 minute ride down the hill from the View Park area; featured in this video. She got up and cooked a full dinner...and took it to the studio. She was just going to drop off the food, get them fed and leave. While she was there....Ike wanted her to lay some vocal tracks. She didn't want too, because her voice was still sleepy and she was tired. Well....volatile Ike....got mad and hit her. Years later, after reading her book.....I dated a very nice guy who was a singer, and kind of hung out with other musicians/singers who knew Ike. He was in the studio that night and witnessed Ike hitting Tina. I asked him if anyone came to her aid....and he said no. Now mind you my friend, built like a boxer....did some boxing/sparring, though not on a professional level....but he could throw punches with the best of them. I asked him why didn't he knock the heck out of Ike! He said he wanted to but had to stay out of it because it was none of his business, and Ike's guys were ALL packing guns! So he just excused himself....left....and never went back.
Rape culture. Domestic Violence culture. Victim blaming culture. It used to be "a domestic issue" and only if the woman pressed charges. Until OJ nearly cut her head off, they finally passed mandatory criminal laws. This still goes on.
Just sad to hear
I love hearing the enthusiasm in your voice as you describe such things as "the original curtains"....I feel the same way.
I LOVE how you go back and forth with the old pics of the house. And I agree with you, I can’t believe there changing the style of the house! I would have restored it exactly like Ike and Tina had it. All fresh and new but exactly the same. Then I’d really feel like I was in the Ike and Tina Turner house.
PS
I want wallpaper! I’d use it as the liner in my jewelry box!
I absolutely loved this house, always have. There is something about vintage homes that makes them so cozy.
THIS IS A GOLD MINE! It's RARE that a house is this close to the original form it was when the star lived there. I mean, it's literally frozen in time! Like Ike and Tina just moved out yesterday lol. YOU'RE SO LUCKY MAN!

I just have to think, Tina lying on her bed after having an altercation with Ike, how many tears she shed. I’m sure there were just as many bad times as there were good. I’m so jealous. Great finds and Amazing Video!!
They should have kept it just the way it is for a special landmark
"landmark," exactly. We're puzzled that No One in the Turner's family would claim it PRIOR to his selling it outside the family... Huh??
Even in the Bullock family... none of them wanted it??
It's gotta be completely puzzling to their respective DNA that strangers get to keep their family members' things.
See my comment above. Even #50Cent knows not to sell the house he grew up in. Yes, we know, #TinaTurner nor #IkeTurner grew up at this location, but they spent a significant # of years there.
HTHTV3 for her, wth would SHE want it? She got beaten severely and RAPED in THAT room. I highly doubt she'd want anything to do with any of it, minus a match and a gas can. I find it interesting, but NO, there's no way...

Don’t let the glass of the frame directly touch the artwork bc over time humidity will seep through and cause the art to stick to the glass. Best to have either a “acid free paper mat” or a thin strip of plastic what is known as a “spacer” recessed/hidden under the moulding of the frame to create a space between the glass and art so that they do not touch...

I know this is hard to believe but just hear me out. I actually worked with the company that renovated that house. When we were there we had no idea why so many people would show up & take pictures of the house. So one day I decided to ask them why the house attracted so many people and they said it was Tina Turners house. I had no idea who she was ( at that time I was 19/20) so I pulled out my phone and googled her and saw she was this big deal. So time goes by and we’re clearing out the garage ( nothing was kept, everything got thrown out ) and I come across this box full of check books & old CD’s. I open the check books and see her signature on everything !!!! So It quickly hit me not to throw them that maybe someday they’ll be of some value... so I grab the box and hide it . I know the box is safe since it’s somewhere pretty well hidden.
They're off value now, trust me. How lucky.
