  • How do you name acids and bases? This video explains how to name acids and bases. In chemistry, acids have a unique way to name them, and I provide 3 methods for you to succeed.     Very nice and down to earth tutorial. I learned more from this 7 minute video than an entire week of learning acids and bases in schools. However I don't think we learned how to name any bases in this video. I apologize if I'm wrong but thanks for the tutorial!

    It's insanely hard to learn from my chem teacher, she spent two days over exaggerating and not answering questions, this is literally all I needed to know to understand, short, sweet, and to the point. Ready for the test tomorrow.

    You are not necessarily just dropping the "ate" and adding "ic" such as in the case of Hydrogen Sulfate. You have to drop the "ate" and then add "uric" not just "ic". Same is true for Hydrogen Phosphate.

      Timrondo the"uric" is not really necessary. the hydrogen sulfate became sulfuric acid, because the original name (root word) of sulfate is "sulfur" so you just add -ic.
