Dear people who bring up the hands,
There are lots of chem videos out there for people who don't like seeing hands that use khan academy style writing software but 90% of the time that method comes off as impersonal and almost robotic. Sure, nothing is in the way to block your view but what good is that if the information is too convoluted to understand or too dull to stay awake through!
What Tyler DeWitt does is simply brilliant; he grabs your attention and presents the information in such a practical and easy to follow way. Asking him to take away his hands is like asking him to take his soul out of the videos. (That's why that suggestion is so hurtful). His hands guide you and take you on an epic journey of understanding first semester chemistry (and beyond)(,:
    Thanks so much Tyler!!

You're probably the best teacher I've seen on UA-cam. You speak clearly, and you express interest as if you're telling a story to us. You always provide clear pictures. You avoid using overly complex terms only advanced people would know. You're honestly amazing and I don't know where I'd be in Chemistry right now without your lessons.

What a great teacher he is. He is the reason why not everyone should become a teacher and only those who can actually teach. I remember suffering through many teachers who only saw it as a job and then experienced a biology teacher who was a teacher with all of her heart and explained everything SO well, step by step, and if you had a question, she always wanted you to ask. She made me go to med school after being a high school drop out. Due to her I learned to learn and to have fun studying something which I thought I would never ever be able to study.

Yea, that's what I said. But at the same time, what with the hands? Obviously, if you're pointing something out on the left-hand side, I see the reason. But when you're just talking... to me they don't add anything; they just flop around like fish out of water. You give fine lectures. I don't think you need to talk with your hands. But then again, I'm just one small being in the big UA-cam sea. You do you. Best.

+Gabby Jerz I never know how to respond to comments like yours, because I don't know why you wanted to post it in the first place. Did you just wanna let me know you didn't like my videos? Did you want me to change them? To make them another way? Have you ever gone up to someone on the street and said "I really don't like your ugly outfit. That sucks because you'd be pretty otherwise." Your comment feels a bit like the digital equivalent. I don't know, comments like yours always frustrate me because there's literally nothing I can do to respond to them. I've already made the video and I always talk with my hands. That's who I am. So whether you mean it or not, your comment just feels like an intentional insult. It's like telling someone, "Your skirt is ugly. Just thought you should know."

Currently reviewing all topics from the semester before my final. If only I found these videos sooner, it would have saved me so much stress! You make chemistry easy to understand!!

My chem exam is today and I am still iffy on naming the acids with oxygen. This MAKES SENSE! I kept getting tripped up on balancing the charge to find out the name. Super helpful! I wish I watched this a week ago!
