    Lance was, in my opinion, the best wrestling commentator ever. He and Gordon Solie were in a class by themselves. But Lance wins the "best" label even over a legend like Gordon. Sure do miss those old days of wrestling. Great memories.

      Solie Russell Ross Mercer

      JerGer918+ Watching this now makes me both sad and happy. HAPPY for the memories of yesterday. But at the same time SAD because of the state of the current Wrestling product today. RIP Lancer and Mean Gene.

      Curry Head me too BY-GOLLY, watched every Saturday morning, some of the bloodiest fights outside the ring I can remember with Boyd's Sheephearders......looked like a damn murder scene! Jeff Jarrett's first win over "boy"Tony Faulk, so many memories.........R.I.P. Lance Russell and Tom Petty, been a bad week everybody!

    R.I.P. Lance. One of his catch phrases was "Come on, guys!" whenever a brawl erupted during an interview. Of course it never helped.

      His work with Andy Kaufman was so awesome. Also I heard Mean Gene speaking on that "Story Time" show on the Network the other day and man he sounds pretty rough now too. Mean Gene, Hennana, Monsoon, and JR are all sorta the voices of my childhood. Legends for sure.

    I never got to watch Memphis or Florida growing up about 40 miles from WWF headquarters in Ct. but always read about them (with envy) in Bill Apters mags and have watched a ton in recent yrs on UA-cam + Peacock. For yrs I, like millions of others, believed Gordon Sole was the cream of Wrestling announcers - I don't feel one is BETTER than the other but it's a choice of preferring one STYLE over another. Now, after having access to both (as mentioned above), and many hours of watching BOTH, I now believe that I prefer Mr. Russell's STYLE or BRAND of DELIVERY. Mr. Sole gave the absolute best description of the various holds + moves of a match. It's very professional. While Gordon Sole's calling of a match rarely shows the overt favoritism of the 'Baby Faces' that's common to every other Wrestling announcer in the world, Lance Russell always did this wonderful - what I've described as 'Exasperation'. Very colorful Exasperation - And that's what I found to be the secret to his charm. I come from, what I believed was The 1st generation of Wrestling Fans that started to 'EMBRACE THE HEELS' and to NOW watch Lance, in 2023, getting 'Exasperated' is just s wonderfully, enjoyable, experience that makes me smile and the oddest thing is that has now become a "Comfort Food" for me. When I start getting down looking at the mess this country has become under liberal leaders I go and watch some Lance Russell react to the heels of the 1970's + early '80s and get my blood pressure down and bring back some calm to my weary brain. Thank you for listening and God Bless you and your loved ones. You are missed + needed.

    Should of been allowed to induct Lawler into the HOF. Show a few video packages of who Russell was (like him interviewing Lawler, and calling various matches) so WWE only fans can be familiar with him or at least know WHY he's the chosen one.

    • @troylowe814
      @troylowe814 Рік тому

      I'm a Trek fan but Shatner inducting Lawler made no sense. They could have gotten Lance or Jim Ross or Jerry Jarrett or Dutch Mantell or Terry Funk or Dave Brown or Bill Dundee...was Jackie Fargo alive when Lawler was inducted? He could have worked too. But it should have been Lance.

    I wished they would have talked about Jimmy Hart, he was probably the one person who worked with both of them the most. Hart jumped a bucket full of flour on Lance Russell to intentional get fired so he could go to WWE. the only time I've seen Lance genuinely pissed.
