We were looking at a 4 years old jd 7200 and my father comes home with a new 7230. Don’t ever let your retired father do your buying. Lol. Great videos
Great video. I really liked the 3010. I grew up with a 2510, 3010, and two 4020s. All four of those tractors had the snycro transmission and all of them were narrow fronts. Oh the memories of making hay with them over the years
My dad broke me in on a jd 70 diesel with duals and a 12 ft disk (in the early 70’s) as a 10 year old thought I was really something. Thanks for the tractor run-down.
I agree my "new" tractor finally showed up today. Great video alot of nice tractors in the fleet for sure. Hopefully spring will come soon so we can get em out.
Very cool demonstration. I go into our shed it's almost like going into our tractors of yesteryear too. Love what you have. Someday maybe I get a cab on a tractor. Nope can never have enough tractors for sure. Our oldest is a 1950 Minneapolis Moline ZB. Newest 1990 Case 385 4 wheel drive and like you a 1982 John Deere 2940 open cab with those 2 shift levers on the floor like you mentioned is our biggest.
I grew up raking hay with a JD 2640. Loved that tractor with the foot petal throttle. Scared me once hauling a bale that was too heavy and the front end came up though. Otherwise we had a 4440, 4230 and the last has been the 7810. We had other brands in the early years before becoming all JD farm. Thanks for sharing.
What a lovely collection of tractors Mike ,your 4055 is an absolute diamond on your farm from new and hardly any hours on it at all ,the rest of them are lovely as well but the 4055 and 2940 are the special ones being on the farm from new you can see they are genuine well cared for tractors ,the 520 as well with a long family history absolutely amazing , over here in the UK they'd all be worked to death and scrapped by now especially the 55's keep up the good work with the videos always look forward to them
You're right! You can never have enough tractors. I have a small hobby farm and I have 8! Always looking for more too. Nice bunch of iron there. Enjoy watching your vids!
Very nice line up. Looks like you take good care of them too, they should last you a long time yet. Gotta agree about never having too many tractors, nice to have a back up in case one goes down and it's go time like planting or haying and there is rain coming. Hop in another one, get the job done then fix when you have more time. It's happened to me a couple times.
Yeah thats always a good thing to have the back up. Definitely can't have enough tractors. I can come up with 5 more off the top of my head that I would love to have
Thank you Wally. Sounds like you have a nice lineup of tractors yourself. Its funny you would love a 55 series tractor, I'd love to add a 7010 series to our lineup!
That's a nice fleet you got there Mike. Love those sound guard era tractors. Also that's a pretty cool SK tools hat you got there as well lol I grew up working with a lot of SK stuff and I still have quite a bit of it
We use to have a Farmall Super C back in the day. I think in the history of the farm and history of the farm part 2 there are pictures of some farmalls
Mike I am 3 weeks shy of my 73rd birthday and I can remember like it was yesterday after buying a MF Super 90 tractor in 1964 We talked about we will never need a bigger tractor Little did we know Keep the videos coming They are great
Thank you Jimmy. Thats a great story. When I was putting the clips of this video together I noticed that I twice said my dad thought he'd never get a bigger tractor. Its funny when it comes to the 2940 because that is now our one of our smallest. Happy Birthday in 3 weeks!
Probably a combination of 55 series and 10 series tractors. I wouldn't mind a 720 like the one my dad had when he moved here, maybe an 8310 or 8410. Maybe even some other cool tractors that are a different brand like a Minneapolis Moline g1000 or an allis chalmers D21. I think im way over the 4 or 5!
one for every day of the week. We should get one more so we have one for every day of the week and get the two antiques (520 & 3010) out for rides on sunday!
Well done on the fleet. You'll need to set up a picture roadside like the old ones we get to see now and again with the up-to-date fleet on show.👍. Some racking for your tractor shed next that will make more space for parking 😉 cracking video. Stay safe 🏴
I envy you , i come up whit my 2 tractors, the 6110 and the 6410 whit loader thats it for me.On a sidenote they each make around the 600 ours pro year, but mayby one day. Thanks for the video greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer
The 4055 is close to the 4430 in hp.It least you have experience with the 15 speed powershift in the 4555 when it comes to the 4250.1982 was the first year Deere offered the Sound Gard Body on the 2940
My grandpa actually has a 3010 just like yours I get to run it some times not to often but nice transmission I think also. Which tractor is the one with the quad range in it? The guys I help have an old 4230 with a quad range transmission and that thing jumps the whole tractor really bad when in road range. Does it in every gear actually when shifting from the low to high side. I was just wondering if they all did that or that is something wrong with the one we have.
Are you talking about when you shift from D3 to D4? My 8440 and 4230 both jump doing that too. My uncles said his 4430 quad also shifts hard into road gear. I give it a bit of clutch so it doesn't do it, especially when I'm pulling a load. It's just a little too violent a shift for my liking.
Yes when you shift from d3 to d4. I have figured out that if the window is open on the side I can kind of sit in the frame a little bit and it is not to bad. Ours jumps in c3 and c4 some to but not as bad as in d range. It is a 1973 model though I think. Starts super hard in the summer. Won’t fire under 40 degrees without ether it is one that was made before they changed compression so they start easier
We didn't have any for the longest time. My dad never wanted to get one and I would always tell him we should have one. Once we were looking for a bigger tractor they were all 4wd
From left to right its the 4040 with snap on duals, the 4055, then the 2940. We still have all 3 of those tractors we just run a wider tire on the back of the 4040 instead of running the snap on duals
Yeah I did a tractors on the farm video like 4 years ago and I figured it was time to do an updated one now that we have the 4250. This time I decided to put in the footage of the tractors in the field doing the work instead of just saying what they did. I was happy with how it turned out
Neat stuff. In the old photo of the 520, the yellow panels looked white (thought it was an Oliver at first glance!). Were they white, or was that just faded yellow paint, faded photo, or a little of both?
This brings back memories. 2940 was our "big" tractor and a 3020 gas was our utility.
We use to have a 3020. They were good tractors
Great Video, I just Googled John Deere 4555 to check out the Tractor you were using on the corn, thanks for sharing
Thanks Tony. Our 4555 is turned up a little so its more like a 4955
Thanks for showing your tractors what you have on the farm
Glad you enjoyed the video Andrew

4040 an I are the same year 1980 but so far no major issues or leaks 🤣, Very nice fleet of Deere’s .
Haha well hopefully you keep running a good long time without any major issues or leaks!
