      I worked at a string factory in my younger days making fiber for everything from dental floss and back pack material to vehicle carpet. It's not just the lightness and darkenss of a color, but they yellow, red and purple hues that show through. There are so many hues that must be managed when extruding plastic. It must be very difficult to extrude pieces from different lots of pellets and make them match at the end.

    Just got one. I knew I was supporting local business in Tennessee. It's a great product. Fuel prices do cause alot of things to cost more, but it also makes things like injected molded plastics from overseas less economical (because of their bulk) so more and more of that is being done back home.

    Thank you, Scott, for this great video. You had to put a lot of personal time and effort into making this trip. I was an engineer and eventually a manufacturing and operations manager and have spent many hours managing injection molding product development and production. This was a great tour for those who have not been exposed to mold design and fabrication. Molding machines of the tonnage needed for their products are very expensive and it is much smarter for them to use a molder (and their assets) to produce their parts. This is just a great story of a great family business-- the kind of business I like patronize.

    I started accumulating them and now have 5! We are renting so I have to keep things mobile. I grew everything from greens and herbs, to tomatoes, peppers, okra, and cucumbers! I just kept planting in them. Of course they aren't quite as productive as they would be in more soil, but everything I put in the towers gave me food!

    Thank you so much Gardener Scott! I love this. I am putting up my very first GreenStalk tower this weekend, the Leaf tower, which I bought on their Valentines Day Sale. I bought the green which I LOVE! When I buy pots or any accessories for my garden, I always buy green or blue! (And shades of blue are even my first choice of flowers.) I bought 10 fifteen gallon grow bags to grow potatoes this year, and chose 5 blue and 5 green. So, while planning this all out this week in my backyard, I thought, I could really use two more GreenStalk Towers. I came inside that evening and checked my email, and had one from GreenStalk announcing their St. Patrick’s Day Sale (which is also my birthday). I immediately ordered the bundle with the Original and another Leaf, and I even got a set of green supports for 25% off! I am so excited. If they ever do blue, I will be buying more! I really like supporting this Made In The USA family business! Thank you for telling me about them. It’s good, reliable UA-cam gardeners like you, Jess at Roots & Refuge, and Gary at The Rusted Garden which to.d me about GreenStalk and helped me feel safe in purchasing. God bless!

    That was an interesting trip, thank you! It's always good to see how things work or are done ans this family is so nice.
    Their system is so great, so much space for plants on such a little spot. I could imagine a rainbow coloured 7 layer or with several shades of one colour from darker downside to lighter upside. That would be nice. Usually i feel attracted by nice colours. I have several colourful pots and containers on my balcony. 😊 So it never looks totally drearily on grey November days. 😉
    Here in Germany, i haven't seen the GreenStalk so far. I just bought a not so smart little tower with 4 layers. I guess i will try some potatoes, bushbeans, salads, and strawberries, maybe a little tomato on the top, to see how it works, before i make a higher tower. 😉

    I just put mine together yesterday. Mines a bit wobbly, will the tiers stabilize when putting dirt in? I thought the tiers would lock/click into place like the top water tier audibly clicked in. As it slightly higher on sides I worry about the water not running evenly and pooling on the lower sides.
    Anyone have any help ?

    • @GardenerScott
      @GardenerScott  2 роки тому +1

      The soil does help with stability. It should be level on all sides so you might want to check again that each tier has locked into the one below.

Thank you for all the informative videos that delve into more than the “common knowledge” such as the chart recently that showed germination rates versus soil temperature, that was VERY interesting and now I am better able to choose temps on my heat mat better. What is the difference of green stalk garden and mr stackey?

    • @GardenerScott
      @GardenerScott  2 роки тому

      The key difference is how they water plants. GreenStalk uses an internal reservoir system; you add water to the top and it drains to a reservoir at each tier and promotes even watering for each level. Mr Stacky has drainage holes in each tier that drain into the one below; there is greater likelihood of uneven watering because the bottom level is only watered after water has drained from the top tier.
