- Choir! Choir! Choir! teamed up with David Byrne and a TON of singers in the Ford Foundation lobby of the Public Theater during the Under the Radar Festival to sing 'Heroes' written by David Bowie and Brian Eno
It was magical + powerful.
If we ever needed a message to be our own heroes, right now is the time.
Throw on some headphones + sing along.
#WeCanBeHeroes
David Byrne fans knew this was brilliant before anyone even started singing.
Yes!
Yes
There is no one else that I would prefer to cover Bowie. All respect to David Byrne
I love how nervous and awkward Byrne seems at first, eyes darting looking to the choir then the choirmaster, hands in pockets. But then the choir fills the room with love for him/the song/the experience and he’s won over and at 3:15 or so he opens his throat and howls with conviction and strength. Very moving to see how each lifts the other, lovely.
I noticed that as well. Truly a special moment in a very special video.
Perhaps you should watch this video?

Part of that also has to do with the fact that he has Asperger's which he revealed recently.
Right? Its like he’s surprised it’s actually working and at how beautiful it sounds. “Holy shit this sounds amazing”
He’s alway looked like that when he sings. kind of pulls you in and makes you hang on to every word with him
Bowie byrne...same as it ever was...epic
Just speechless. Fucking speechless.
Don't get me wrong, I am both a David Bowie and a Talking Heads fan, putting those two together is a recipe for success. However, the CHOIR easily makes this a powerful performance....they compliment Byrne's exceptional rendition of this song to a T.....easily my most favorite Choir Choir Choir song....easily! I'm sure those that were there on the day felt the emotion involved....I can listen to this anytime!
Tears and chills. David B. seems so beautifully determined to do David B. proud. He did. He did.
@David Byrne Who are you, really? What possesses a person to start a fake channel and pretend to be someone else?
Are you just empty and sad - a talentless shell - or is your intention to mislead for some nonsense and/ or general animus?
One genius sings another.
Tears in my throat
Dan Gilboa me too
With ya
This performance makes me feel glad just to be alive!
Dear God! That was Beautiful!
I'm crying...
Who is watching, getting chills and tearing up in 2021? This guy, for one.
2023
So many great things about this. Tears. One of my all time favorite artists singing one of my all time favorite songs by another of my all time favorite artists. (With a nice big Brian Eno connection - another favorite!) Inspiring. Thank you!
Totally sums it up for me. It's such a great idea. I've always enjoyed bands/singers paying tribute to others. At a gig when they launch into a fav song of theirs. Love it.
yes! It seems like many of us here felt the same thing :)
For me the fact that this was in NY, in 2018 and so many awesome people where there singing with them, makes it even more powerful.
Although it is sad they missed out half the song.
the two greatest musicians in the modern era are named David B.
All those people... thinking about nothing but this song. Beautiful.
my favourite moment is when David Byrne watches the choir conductor. I SHOULD KNOW HIS NAME, but don't. But thank you to all of you singers. sUCH a great Bowie tribute (sidebar: Brian Eno co-wrote this song).
I've never seen David look more relaxed than he does in front of this crowd.
David Bowie gave my teenaged self the courage to be an artsy weirdo and I'll always be grateful for that.
An Academy Award winner singing along with ordinary people...such a beautiful example...brilliant guy...
Bowie would be proud of this version
I just fell in love with humanity again.
David does David! Amazing performance.
Hey, how about David and David doing David doing David! ahh symmetry. And yes an amazing performance.
This was a powerful but fantastic punch in the gut. (In a good way). Takes your breath away with the sheer powerful beauty of one legend singing another in a legendary song. Tears.
Wow, this made the tears stream down my face! So relevant and perfect example of how and why we need music and art in school and at home!
Wow, just discovering this. It's beautiful. Crazy my 2 favorites artist of all time are both David B's - so glad I found this, that was awesome
This was just amazing. The message of the song, David Byrne's performance & the fact that I'm STILL not over losing David Bowie was enough to bring a tear to my eye.
With ya Jimmy
It takes a good singer to pull this song off and he did.
Think David Bowie would have loved this, perfect voice and performance
Just found this and am gobsmaked. Adore David Byrne and this is my favorite Bowie song. This is exceptional.
Great! Great!
my heart is so happy & full after this vid ...
Spot on...
I try to come back to this at least once a month, and it ALWAYS stirs a powerfully beautiful emotion and I have to watch it more than once to keep feeling the feels.
David Bowie, David Byrne, Choir Choir Choir, just way way WAY too much awesomeness to pack into 5 minutes! Fantastic rendition of a timeless classic!
What a treat. Singing a David Bowie song with David Byrne and captured on tape so everyone in this room can show their children and grandchildren. Loved it...
Ah, I love this!!!! Bowie captured my soul. This captures my heart.
so important...in these troubled/fertile times. I listen over and over. The editors of this tape are 'heroes' of their craft - such a smooth soundtrack - with eyeglasses hoping on and off the front of David's shirt. Peace all...
Wow. I cant stop listening to this. David Byrne was born to sing this
cant stop coming back here every few weeks. really a masterpiece.
❤💞🎼 Wonderful David Byrne, his voice is unique, a tone of unmistakable voice, all his own: always innovative .... timeless, in the time of this moment, his, unique, particular and universal💞❤🎼
Keep coming back to this video again and again, so uplifting and inspiring. Especially in light of 2020. 💙❤️💜. Good thing inspiration is timeless.
David Byrne and Bowie together? I'm in heaven... just like in heaven! thank choir, choir, choir!
So relevant in this chaos of 2023. Peace brothers and sisters.✌️
This song always, and I mean always makes me cry. Especially in these times of such despair. And yet, it gives me hope.
They got to be heroes.
This Is The Miracle!🤗🤗🤗
Great & Just Beautiful Thanks
well yeah..of course I cried. its a beautiful rendition. also..I've been drinking tonite, and this song always reminds of someone I miss.
One DB to another DB with a fantastic choir thrown in just to make it even more special.
Just made my day ❤️
Ok I’m English but that’s no excuse. I only became aware of Choir Choir Choir abt 4 mths ago having come across their epic version of Hallelujah. Have been a fan since. This haunting version of Heroes is awesome, David Byrne’s voice reaches my inner soul n C C C in that beautiful setting go right through me. Am sure Bowie is looking down on you all x
There are so many beautiful angles to this video, David Byrne, the Choir and Bowie, WOW epic!!!!!
Amazing David byrne
Wonderful. Thank you for this. This needs to be our theme song as we move forward in these challenging times. Miss you Starman.
David Byrne still has an excellent voice, 'cause it can't be easy to keep up with such big choir! =)
Fuck...I'm crying my eyes out. I love both my David's so much. We lost one, but I'm so happy we have David Byrne ❤❤❤
Sheesh...freakin' awesome!
My first Choir! Choir! Choir! performance to witness. Soooo much power in all those voices and in the attitude that they come together. Thank you.
wow I love David Bowie and David Byrne this is so great!!
One of the most beautiful things I've ever seen
We will beat this virus. We will be heroes. Stay safe all.
Rag, most of a year into this pandemic, and watching this video, I feel like I am peeking through the windows into another world.
The agenda is the virus. Heroes fight the agenda...
Lol NPC behavior
This performance makes me feel glad just to be alive!
1:01 Pink Floyd - ´´Goodbye blue sky´´.
Wow, David sure has aged well!
I normally don't like covers of this song because I love the original so much but I also thought this was great and David Byrne was the man to front it, well done all
I think David B would have approved! Byrne's pained voice complements the song perfectly.
David Byrne even has a Bowie haircut. Outstanding.
I just experienced a spiritual uplifting.
I wish David Byrne would do a few songs with mainly his voice reaching these great heights. Wow!!!;
This is my eulogy song, just found this version, I thought the Peter Gabriel version was good but this surpasses it. You cannot see this without tears.
Wow that was amazing, the build up was fantastic. very 'uplifting' and David was as brilliant as he always is
It's a lovely song and I wish I'd been in the crowd to sing along. But at a certain level we all know this is his and his alone. Always will be. Can never hear or sing this without feeling his presence and never never will.
This fills me with spirit and could soften even the hardest of us.
A fantastic version from a musical genius. Singing a song by another musical genius. Bowie is smiling.
I noticed how 96 people gave this a thumbs down. How??? It was a beautiful tribute by David Byrne for the late, great David Bowie. How can this possibly be disliked? I love it!
There's always a troll somewhere. I REALLY liked it myself.
Amazing! We need heroes in these dark times... Brilliant performance. You guys rock
Here come the happy tears again.
I'm not crying, you're crying. 🥲
*in tears*
Choir choir choir= love love love
I lost my voice for a long 3 months this year (late February through late May) - bad cold late February followed by probably exacerbation of GERD - & it was hard for me to listen to choral music. But my voice is back now. What a phenomenal experience to sing that song with David Byrne! I don't know when we will be able to gather & sing that way again - if ever - but I long for that kind of unique togetherness. Well done!!
This put tears in my eyes... so beautifully done!! Thank you to all you great voices out there!
Just Beautiful . . .
Wow, chills! Kinda haunting & a little sad, but beautiful all at once. Probably my favorite David Bowie song & this is just a great cover.
This is so beautiful. And the Public Theater is a sacred space, even more magical after this incredible moment. Thank you.
I’m afraid I can’t express my feelings as clearly as I would like ( un educated ) but this is EPIC
Choir geek here. I love everything about this. I'm crying.
I will never get sick of this. Always a link away when needed.
David has aged like the rest of us but his voice is still WONDERFUL. Real nice to listen to this.Keep it up Choir Choir Choir.
That's the end of my weekend sorted..top notch atmosphere..
Wow! Thank you david. Thank you david. Thanks you brian and thank you choir choir choir!
I keep coming back to hear this when I just need its solace and joy. It really is quite brilliant.
It takes a certain maturity to really get this song... really young people maybe not so much, especially when it was first released. It - and Bowie - both have really grown on me over the years.
I still really feel his loss... There's a hole in the world still.
Oh my YES!!!!
Don't know how anyone can down vote something às simply beautiful this is. Misery gets no company from me.
Took David a minute to get comfortable, his release is powerful.
Love love love this! David Byrne does a great job. Choir sounds great too! Wish I was there
@David Byrne honored you replied. Big fan.
Great version! Love Byrne & Talkingheads.

I think that's my favorite version of Heroes. I think that's my favorite Choir Choir Choir video.
Wow. I think I saw just the ghost of a hint of a smile from David Byrne... SHOCKING!
Isn't he marvelous? What a great tribute to DB!!!
Imagine if the 2 David’s had sung this together. Both total legends and both smashed this
David Byrne, whom I have loved ever since I was 11 years old, performing one of the best songs from one of my other all time heros,
together with so many awesome people... Goosebumps do not really describe it.
It filled me with love and optimism.
Thank you! from Berlin
just WOW............................. thank you
...and we can all come together to make something truly beautiful.
Catness, Reach out to friends who may know someone who could take on that role.
Sublime
