So, the video was on making a website layout, but I couldn't help but notice how well done the video was! The timing of shots was perfect; Wes was smiling and talking right into the camera; he showed his hands and used positive movement as he spoke. I learned how to make a PERFECT Website Layout, but also got a great example of how to make a video!
I know about this perfect website framework a long time ago BUT, customers now use MOBILES more than ever so, it will be very interesting if someone talk about if theres a perfect mobile website framework as well. Congrats Wes. Nice content.
Plus 1 on the information regarding how to apply this concept to mobile. This video was incredibly helpful to me but would love to know more about the mobile point of view on this same topic. (Not that I can't do my own research.. I just really appreciate when someone else already did it for me.) :)
_"People aren't settling into a read your website like a Harry Potter, they're looking at it like it's a billboard on their way to Las Vegas"_ That's suuuuuch a great quote! I think more than half of the commerical websites out there could be better if they kept this in mind while crafting their pages! Your words are absolutely lovely, I have no doubt! ...but people looking to give you money rarely care about your words; they want to hear the ideas your words convey and the feelings your words inspire in them!
I am exaggerating to some extent, but as someone who works at SEO. This is everything. Not to mention the production quality. If this was a TV show I'd binge it.
Wes, you are my hero. Concise, Practical, Powerful! The website development/hosting organisation I use for my site is not. However, they do provide excellent support, backup and copious content. I can’t wade through all their gump. Hence, you are the one who has motivated me to continue. Any improvements (talking shortly) to my developing site can be attributed directly to you. THANKS. Number one fan!
One Question. How do you work with Video on the Herosection? Especially on Mobile. The Contrast between Retention and Loading time is for me a challenge to wrap my Head around
It's less about the individual layouts and more about putting these sections in this order. You'd do the same sections, same order across the board (mobile, tablet, desktop)- thanks for watching! 👍
Great content, man. Been going through your videos and you create a clear how-to and also reference studies. Keep it up and thank you for the awesome videos as I redesign my website!
I have to be honest with you Wes.. I watch your content for both the information you provide and to observe how you implement your own marketing strategies. Great job & don't stop!
@@WesMcDowellInc of course. I built my (most recent) website using the Profitable Website Launchpad.. as well as a few landing pages. All quality stuff!
Could you please help with how to better create a "projects" or "project" page? A page to speak about one specific project you have worked on. Thank you so much in advance if you were to do it, I love your work! 🥺😭🌺
Sounds like you're looking to make a portfolio page! Tell a story, use great high quality (optimized) images and text, and if you want to go hardcore, optimize the pages' schema! Projects also blend themselves beautifully to ongoing social media posts
IT would be amazing to determine the best Development platform, too. Ai is really catching up and Optimizing all steps in the web development industry.
Great lesson Wes thank you. What about mobile compatibility? Creating a hero section in the format you describe does not always translate to mobile. I end up having to reformat. Any tips?
Wes congratulations on the excellent content as always, but the big problem I see currently is that most users access it through mobile phones and this type of layout does not apply to small screens. Could you create similar content just talking about these techniques applied to the mobile version, please?
Its less about the individual layouts and more about putting these sections in this order. You'd do the same sections, same order across the board (mobile, tablet, desktop)
Hey Wes, Love this one as well! Great videos. Quick Question: What is the rule of thumb when you think about movile version Things like: text left and image right etc don't apply then, but what IS wise? thank you
When it comes to the mobile experience, easy readability is key. Think about keeping your images and CTA buttons above or below text verses to the right or left.
As a Headshot Crew photographer i know wery well what strike most... approachability with confidence, build by eye contact and proper natural emotions. Same thing that works by last 100 years with acting headshots, works now for commercial images, profile photos or webside photos. My mentor and teacher - Peter Hurley, says that portrait must have high lookability to secure attention of onlooker. And that absolutely true. You doesynt need to look perfect or be beautifull, You need to be interesting! Express right emotions, mimics, Build connection and show in best possible light!
Christ. I learned this in technical school when studying commercial art in 1980. But then it was for print. Top left bottom right for euro centric people.

Hi Wes....just stumbled across a few of your videos over the past 48 hours and wanted to let you know I've found it really helpful. I'm currently building a Shopify store that will sell wellness and recovery equipment. I can see how a lot of your advice on copywriting and web design is directly applicable, but I've also found myself wondering whether a lot of it is geared more toward service-based businesses. Hah, as I was writing this I went over to your website and see in your headline that yes you're dream customers are indeed service-based business owners. Question then: do you work at all with product-based businesses and how much of this advice is applicable to people like me?
Hey Paul, well I dont really work with clients anymore at all actually, jsut content and course-based help at this point. And you're right, its geared to ward service businesses bc that's my world I know so well. I like to stay in my lane. Some of what I talk about is definitely applicable but not 100%.
Happy to discover your channel ,my only concern is copy and clone my website, my images, where do i go to showcase my heart ❤ without theft? Grateful 🙏 for anyone helping me God bless you
Thanks, I made my living in photography when I was young, it's not about money, it's deepest part of me, then the amount of videos on utube teach copy and clone any website or copyand paste, made me aware that nobody cares, iam 68yrs shooting since 12 , my soul Wes , always remember I appreciate you and your extraordinary talents, experiences, expertise, knowledge, and your personality ❤thanks for your understanding of myself God bless you
Hey Olivia, unfortunately I don't do any full project work anymore... but if you wanted a consult call where we can go over what I'd recommend for you, you can schedule that here: wesmcdowell.com/private-coaching-consultations/
you forget that most people see landing pages in mobile phones, so the desktop layout will be seen by 1% of the users. PLEASE don't omit mobile layouts
The word "layout" in the title should probably be changed to "flow" because the flow of one section to the next and the content that goes in it doesnt change from desktop to mobile. its the same. Obviously a 3 column layout becomes stacked, etc. but you can figure that out. And Let's not overstate it... MObile does take the majority pf page views in some cases, but not 99%.
I’ve got 120 websites in my agency, I would say around 30% of website views are desktop across my websites to give you a better example 👍 but so true, mobile views is probably more important today
Is it true that a slider with large images at the top of the homepage is bad for the CR? Homepages with such sliders seem to have a terrible CR, is that true?
Not necessarily, but you def don't want to have multiple headlines that change with each slide. Keep the text where it is, so only the bg image changes if needed (like if you want to show a few differnet customer avatar types)
I have to vehemently disagree with the "science" which is clearly not well executed. The RIGHT side is where you want your text. Trust me. One guy using an eye tracker on his website is called an anecdote, not science.

Yeah was just looking and pretty consistently 80-90% of our web traffic is mobile LOL
Your mobile should be very similar to desktop just trimmed up if necessary they should be about the same

You're looking at it. Make sure this layout is mobile-friendly, and you're already there.
Obviously it'll be mobile optimized duhh but most people at work aren't on their phones but on laptops and desktops.. lol logic mate

Awesome content, excellent job!
Much appreciated!
This is amazing, but we all need help for mobile configuration. Awesome content.
Thanks for watching Joao! 👏
Can someone give a summary of the video?
@7:17 Nope. Its proven that CTA work better when the visual line of the model is directing to the Text/Button.
I’m not understanding what you’re trying to say, what exactly do you mean?

So, is that what 'Mike' did, hey?!
Is this an update on your earlier "perfect website layout" video? Or a rehash.
I did a previous video about the perfect Landing page which is different than a whole website.
What about when 95% of your visitors are on a cell phone and not on a laptop screen the left to right makes no difference so then what??
NOt all websites are blogs
Yes I know, 😂
