To get your layers in right sequence: just grab all the layers and release them in the right place: on the layer pannel (not on the middle of the artwork).
You don't need DPI for digital art at all. You can set it to 0. If you will need to print it later on you could raise DPI again in the settings of printer itself.
Tyra great tutorial and thank you! FYI! I believe I have an idea concerning the order of the layers after you moved them onto the new canvas. I watched your vid over and over noticing the order that you selected the layers. The software is recording the order that you selected the layers. This is why when you copied the layers to the new canvas they were out of order. In other words you selected the layers out of order and that is why they were copied and pasted out of order into your new canvas. So I tried it on my iPad and I am correct. Thanks again Tyra for your tutorial! Much appreciated!
The trick I always use to maintain important layer information, is to duplicate the original procreate document and merge all unnecessary things together such as all my sketch layers, all my line work, and individual layers of light Shadow and colour. Try to keep my workflow pretty consistent so that I can move through the stages of merging and if I need to go back ever I will have an older document that is missing some of the newer additions but I will always still have my original sketches cetera with all their Lair data if I need them to go back to I can import them into my newest file
My only question is, if you import it to another place and lower the DPI then what if you want to print it but don’t wanna merge all the layers together? The DPI would probably be too low etc.. :(
Beautiful artwork! I’m new to procreate, just a few layers of simple scribbles to animate words, I think I’m up to 11 or 12? Suddenly pen will no longer write on a new layer? I tried over and over. Also, have to reset pen settings every single time and a lot of times it goes back to splatter paint? LOL
I had an animation and i tried this but my animation was just a blob, idk what to do cuz i work on it for already a week and dont wanna have to restart 😢
This probably isn't the best practice... But sometimes I create art at 200dpi in Procreate. Then, export the file into Photoshop to bump up the dpi to 300.
@@TyraWashington does exporting and increasing the dpi with photoshop affect the quality of the art? I’m so confused with this dpi thing. Hope you can answer :)
im animating a logo and had to use way more layers, 3 layers and then group three layers like 24 times, I deleted the layers with nothing in it and got some more, I tried reducing DPI but sadly 72 was the limit

I bumped mine down from 300 to 200 and still got the same amount of max layers. It's the same size as my old one (4000 pixels by 2200 pixels), and it still has just 57 maximum layers.
So I tried this....starts to work....shows "Importing 23 items" but then stops with "8 items remaining". Any clue? I've done it several times and it always stops at 8. WHen I go into my canvas info of the new canvas it shows Max Layers 59, Layers used 16, Layers available 43. So it looks like it should work. Help!
Yep. You are correct @Eazy Money. The dpi does effect the quality. 300 dpi is recommended if you intend to print something. But 200 should be fine for most digital uses.
@@Sanibear If you need a higher dpi, you can always export the Procreate file as a photoshop file (PSD). Then bump up the dpi to 300 in photoshop. I do that sometimes when I plan to print something out.

Does dpi affect the drawing or only the print quality?
The dpi will definitely affect the print quality. A dpi of 300 is recommended for printing purposes.

maybe its the canvas size

It says i can only have one layer, my DPI is 132 (im making a webtoon) so idk what to do? 😭

Is this necessary? Make duplicate of your picture in galery, open it and in Action - Canvas - Crop&Resize just change parameters of your canvas.
When you lower the dpi doesn’t it edit the quality
