I appreciate this so much, been trying to do this a couple times but I kept on losing patience doing it. You made it looks so easy to follow. Thank you
Thank you so much @The Last Trooper. Pet portraits can be pretty time consuming depending on how colorful the fur is (I believe this one took me about 1.5 hours to draw 😅.. sheesh!) But I'm glad you could find this video helpful.
Thank you for this tutorial I tried it out and it worked amazingly! I was hoping to create my dog to use on my save the date cards for my wedding. It is PERFECT. I can’t wait for everyone to see
This was such a gOod tutorial, some of the things didn’t really fit my dog tho but they’re all different shapes. I also wanted to say that’s a golden doodle, in case your were unsure.
I have been watching a lot of pet portraits in procreate to learn and you are the only one that has really given details on how to do the whole process so think you! I would love to do this as a business what’s the going rate for these portraits? Thanks again for being very detailed and explain everything.
I'm so happy you found this video helpful @Dena Bowers! I'm hoping to upload another pet portrait very very soon! As far as the going rate, I actually don't have much experience in charging for portraits... yet (maybe one day). So I would start by checking Etsy to see what others are charging for this kind of artwork. I have created portraits for a couple friends and only charged them about $20. However, I noticed that these pet portraits can take me anywhere from 1-4 hours depending on how complex the photo is. So I would definitely make sure that you compensate for how much you want to be paid hourly. I hope that answer helps! And thanks again for watching this video!
Thank you so much for this tutorial, i’ll definitely be trying it! I just want to tell you that saving as jpg means that you’ll lose a lot of quality in the image though.. Try saving as png for your art instead, especially if it’s paid work!
This video is perfect, I've been searching high and low for something like this. Love your art. Thank you🙌 you've gained a new subscriber for sure🤩 also I was wondering what size brush are you using?🙂
That makes me so happy @Glow Up Artistry! 😄 Thank you so much for being here. Also, please let me know if you have any more video recommendations! I would love to hear. For the brush: I used the script brush and i switched between about 1-3% for the size
Hi I love your tutorials but I’m struggling with this one because my dog is black and white so I can’t figure out how to do the details/shading. Would it be okay if you gave me some tips on how to do it? Thx
Awesome tutorial! Want to try and draw my dog now. Question, when I try to drag and drop color, it fills the whole canvas. How do I make it only fill in the section I want? New to procreate so still learning :)
@@TyraWashington I also have one, he is the most beloved of my family hahaha. I’m also starting out in the digital arts, but I’m having a really hard time drawing a Yorkshire, and a Maltese. I see the videos of the creation process to improve myself, but I still have a lot of difficulty :(( I’m Brazilian, I don’t speak very well in English, but I’m looking for all the ways to make my dog!!
@@TyraWashington And honestly, the way that you draw is so amazing is similar to my drawing style, that I’m shocked, You draw absurdly perfect! I was completely blown away🥺
Running out of layers is the WORST!.. And i have learned this lesson the hard way as well. So i feel you 😭 The default "paper" canvas only allows about 19 layers. So I would recommend creating a custom canvas size with a lower DPI. A DPI of 300 is recommended if you are planning to print your artwork, but you could lower it to about 150 for digital purposes. A lower DPI will give you a few more layers to work with. Here is a good video that speaks about the layer limit in Procreate: ua-cam.com/video/Y_d3n37xFq4/v-deo.html I hope this helps!
Hi @Abi B. I'm not sure if you are still interested, but I just created a video that may help the next time you run out of layers in Procreate in the middle of an illustration. Here is a link to the video if you are interested: ua-cam.com/video/w74baUv7I-0/v-deo.html

Thank you so much for this tutorial! How would you do cats with short fur?
Good question! I would use more smoother outlines to draw animals with shorter fur instead of rough edges. I hope that answers your question 🙂
Please do more of these! They are very helpful!
Thanks @Piggy Adventures 😊
Can you do more of other pets?!

super.
This is amazing, could you make a video on how to draw a short haired dog? I have a French Bulldog (with spots) and I just can’t get it to work.
That is a great video suggestion @xJoYCeLyNNx. I will definitely consider doing a pet with shorter fur soon.

Is the short haired pet video allready available? Cant make this work with my short dark haired labrador :(
How many layers you are adding ? For canvas 8 x 10
My ipad only set 9 layers ? 😳
How would you go about drawing a dog with many different colours? For example, the different shades on a German shepherd?
That is such a great question @Melanie R.! I will definitely create a video that shows how to draw pets with multiple colors!
