- Audi was kind enough to fly me to sunny Mexico to review the new Audi Q5, so I can give you guys the load down on the updated SUV! The Q5 acquires striking new looks but have Audi updated the original characteristics that made the Q5 so popular with family buyers? Do rivals such as the Mercedes GLC or the brand new Jaguar F-Pace, outclass the Q5 when it comes to interior and driving style as the previous edition of Audi's Q5 was criticised for its lifeless steering. So, sit back and relax as I give you all my thoughts on the brand new Audi Q5!

The quality in these reviews just keep getting better and better. Praise to Mat for the excelence in communication but also to his Carwow team for the outstading cinematography. Carwow is one year old and is already miles ahead from the competition (RIP Carbuyer).

The quality of this montage is in the level of top gear. I watched it on my 32' curved monitor with my eyes popped. Congrats, well done. I just wish you could tell some downsides as well. But I understand, its a commercial, so you can't. :)

Oh and that despite the claim it's sporty it lacks a fun factor. Oh and its expensive and Audi stings you on options. Plus google maps wont work without a data connection. This was NOT a commercial. If it had been Audi would have fired me!

Ducky0nQuack I think he was pretty fair. New Audis have awesome tech and great build quality but are still just not that exciting - and this is what I got from his review. Personally I'm driving a Passat and I'm not sure zI could ever buy one, since I can see the same damn parts everywhere. I absolutely love the RS6, but you can't escape the feeling you're just sitting in a posher VW.
Pretty sure you'll get the in depth review once a UK car is available.

5:40 I wonder why it's still worth mentioning that the adaptive cruise control can steer and keep the distance to the car in front of you automatically. My 2013 Audi A3 can do that as well, and it hasn't been advertised back then....If you DIDNT have to keep your hands on the wheel, maybe that would be something new and worth advertising, but this really is old news
Great review Mat. I had the previous gen model and the clutch needed replacing after 25,000 miles. Audi said it was my driving style but a quick look on the internet and it seemed that lots Q5's needed clutch replacements.
footballgeorgiebest No, It is your driving style. The Q5 is class leader in sales number, so you can imagine that there is a lot of drivers like you are.
I drive Q5 S-tronic, my brother Q5 with manual and his car now has almost 250k kilometers, nothing changed.

Another great video, Matt. It's always easy to tell that you are not paid by the manufacturer's as you always highlight the "not so good bits".
Sadly the 0-60 time is with the launch control, that you didnt use properly since you got to turn off the traction control
Audi and WV builds and buy all cheap components all over the world (in poor countries most)and then sell cars expensive as they are build in center of Munich
You just described capitalism and globalization for 95% of all luxury brands. Congratulations. Did you realize that Intel, Nvidia, Apple, Samsung, AMD, etc. all have their chips manufactured in poor countries like Taiwan, China, etc.? Are those all crappy companies too then?
BestJinjo yes they are!! they go to poor countries not for help them then for use them and get more work/parts for less money
Audi is more luxurious than bmw but less than Merc.
Taiwan isn't really a poor country
And buying a better cpu doesn't mean you'll get dramatic increase in graphic performance. You'll need a good gpu.
The best car in the class. Interior and exterior, they are both stuning.

Problem is the X3 is pretty much ancient now. Need to wait for the new gen then we'll have a proper comparison.

When an automaker launched a new car and invites you to see it, you can't really say anything you want about it, or they'll get pissed. So, you have to be nice, until you get one at home and can do a proper review.
When we go on launches we can only take one camera crew - when we film in the UK we have to crews to do the extra bits, so we do a different style of review for launches. Once we get a Q5 in the UK we'll do the usual full test.

Still, pretty tame criticisms, but to be fair a lot more than other reviewers mention, who generally only praise the car in this type of videos. You're better. But let's be honest. You can't be rude about the car in any significant way, even if it were crap, or you won't get invited to the next launch by Audi. Not that an Audi would be crap, but I'm just saying...it's usually not done. I still love you Matt. You're among my top 10 favorite car reviewers.

Like the sharper evolutionary styling, don't fix what isn't broken in the first place. The interior is where it did need a hefty update and it got it, classy stuff.

Audi are making the best daily cars, the most practical, best engines, quality, technology is easy to use.

anarxikos50 quite untrue. Dad had an a8 and mom had an s5. Only problem with the a8 in 6 years was the boot motor that failed in the final year he had the car. My mom had zero problem in the passed 3 years. Im not joking, she never went to the garage except for oil change maintenance.
The only reason he changed from audi to mercedes is because i work for mercedes.
Unless you need the room, the Audi allroad is a superior choice.

There's a colour grading issue at 1.48. The look cuts out before the edit to the next shot. Great video otherwise!

"Can decouple the rear wheels" == they messed up the best feature of the Audi, the permanent all wheel drive torsen quattro and changed it to something vastly inferior for minimal fuel economy gain claims called "uberquattro". What was the last year when Q5 that was built with real torsen permanent quattro?

tanafc96 to be honest, i think it's a fake exhaust because it's the diesel model.
I'm pretty sure the 2L petrol engine will have real ones. I think it's still better than having nothing.

IMO, Audi Q5 is the best mid size SUV out there. Amazing tech compare to BMW X3, Mercedes GLC, Porsche Macan. Performance isn't a priority in SUV. 8.1 second to 60mph is fine. You are not taking to track or drag race for cry out loud.
VW T Roc or Mini Countryman S or Q5 or Q3 or X2 or X3?
A lot to like but how does it measure up to the equivalent Macan ? Anything like Macan GTS?

Why don't they use 2.0 240 horsepower diesel engine, that is used on some VW models, such as Tiguan and Passat?
VW has to use that engine because theese cars wont fit the 6 cylinder engines and drive train.

well thats the point, they dont have to use that 4 cyl one because they can fit the more refined 6 cyl ones in.
Digi20 It doesn't make sense. 6 cyl is dead. They use 4 cyl engines in Europe and engines are shrinking every year. I suspect it's about reliability. 240HP output is high a bit. Maybe they don't want to put those engines in premium models to keep them safe for a while. After engine proves itself, they might use it in their premium brands.
