Telescopic is easier on your frame and also easier on your pump system because it's typically lower pressure than a scissor lift which has a massive mechanical disadvantage. A scissor works by pushing against cross members in the frame which can lead to cracked frame members over time. That being said I have a scissor lift on a 10x5 load trail dump with dual 3500lb axles. I've never had a problem lifting a load even when it's a bit overloaded and at 8 years old the frame is fine so far. Larger trailers may benefit from a telescopic lift if carrying heavy loads like dirt, gravel or sand on a regular basis.

Sooooo......magically the telescopic lift is not pushing against frame members??? If you have a quality build with quality steel and welds it should NOT be an issue for either lift style.

@Paladin7845 yeah, it's pushing straight down on the front of the frame but it's not stressing the joints nearly as much because of the angle and much better leverage. Scissors push laterally against cross members with much greater force and on weaker parts of the frame. You can build it to withstand but it's always going to be higher stress and with stress comes fatigue and potential failure.

The telescopic did NOT lift faster.....it reached the end of it's travel sooner = It does NOT lift as high. Clearly visible in the video. The first two trailers shown the Load Trail is clearly Much heavier built. It's shown fully extend in almost every shot while the telescopic is a little over 1/2 way......why? In the second comparison the scissor lifts AND lowers significantly faster. Both are important if you're using your trailer every day. If the box isn't down you're standing still not making money.

A telescopic lift is inherently Unstable unless the trailer is sitting dead level. The torque applied to the cylinder and mounts increases significantly the further you are from level and as the box rises it's a geometric progression the same way a lever increases your lifting ability the longer the lever is....except Not in a good way.

@Paladin7845 I've not heard of any problems. The dump box is hinged at both corners so it's not going to move much even at a 45 degree angle because it can't move without moving the frame with it. If you're at enough of an angle to worry about it you probably shouldn't be dumping in the first place.

@@jamesnm21 Same idea you were using with the scissor lift cross members....repetitive stress = fractures. You can find a lot of videos on the problems with telescoping cylinders if you look.

@@Paladin7845 I don't see anything besides closing issues. What problems are being reported?
