  • In today's video I fit a Quickshifter from ‪@Healtech-electronics‬ with the QSH-F2A loom specifically for my Falco(or twins from Aprilia if we're to be correct). The process went really smoothly and I can't wait to get to use the Falco properly now to test it out :)
    Please bear in mind as always I'm not a professional and this installation is my best guess at a decent position etc etc, if you follow along do so at your own risk!

    Am I addicted to adding quickshifters to old bikes? Yes. Thanks to Healtech for still making bits like these for older bikes, I really do love companies that don't only focus on bikes born in the last 5 years :)

      Sorry you're having the problem that @TheGorillaBiker can't answer. I'd remove the kit you bought, sell it on eBay, and learn to short shift a dogbox transmission. You'll get the hang of it. Just don't be a whimp like the guy who made this video. He obviously struggles with low T. It's not his fault. He just hasn't seen his doctor yet. You, on the other hand, own a machine that will let you blip your throttle and change gears without using the clutch. The force is with you. Let's all cunt punch "The broke, inexperienced, gorilla biker.'

      They're actually on the cheaper side of the QS's too, but definitely a lot of money! The cheapest I could get really was the Vector one that I have on the GSXR, but that's all cut to fit rather than plug & play so I'm much happier to spend an extra 50 euro and get this :)

    I'm on my second falco and they both came with after market exhausts. I used the OE just to get the annual ITV (MOT} check and couldn't imagine riding the sewing machine the bike becomes with them on. Part of this models charm for me is it's soundtrack. Go for it!

    I've had these on all sorts of bikes and found that sometimes, when mounted on the shift bolt, tightening to 7nm can reduce the sensor sensitivity. If it does, you can get away with the pinch bolt being a little looser, and lock-wire it for peace of mind. Also I've had the sensor split and fail twice on a KTM even when torqued correctly (although they are a slightly different method of fitting) and does illustrate that they don't like being particularly tight. Never had problems fitting them on the push rod though.
    Sometimes you need to adjust the shift sensitivity and duration to get them slick, but they are a great piece of kit when working properly. Good choice.

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  2 роки тому

      I actually didn't in the end as the effort 7Nm was taking made me nervous so it's a little looser, but working fine. Lock wire is a good shout! Oh right, I'll keep an eye for that, did they replace it under warranty when it failed or what was the story there? I'm glad I didn't push it to the 7Nm so! Yeah the push rod would be grand to swap to, the bolt was just easy as so I went with the lazy option.
      Had it out for a very quick spin today and actually seems very good out of the box, only a little more time will tell me if I need to fine tune anything :) Glad they do work well tho!

    • @mars0030
      @mars0030 2 роки тому

      @@TheGorillaBiker No they didn’t replace the sensor although it was more than a year old. They said they were looking at improving the fitment on the ktm. They’re about £50 each to replace hence my cautionary note. Currently have one on a multidtrada 950 fitted the same as yours and had no problem in two years so far. I can’t fit it on the shift rod on mine because the rod is a pull rod not a push rod so it wouldn’t work. Glad yours is working fine. 👍

    hey there GB, my problem is knowing when to stop spending money on these things, i think there has to be a cut off point as to where you can over invest and you actually lose money. i think a good freshen up of the suspension is usually what i go for first and then anything else that needs doing after that, have to prioritize what needs doing first though, another good vid mate, keep up the good work

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  2 роки тому

      Ah yeah I think it's easy really, it's why I haven't put any flash bits on the CBF, I know I'll swap that at some stage. The other bikes I know I'm keeping so the cost is a lot yes bit I'll benefit so it's ok in the long run :)
      Yeah it's why exhausts are on the longest finger. Don't need them. Suspension next and it's done, I'll just enjoy it for a few years :)

    So fitted one to my Mille. I have set the range of rpm 8k to 10.5k so you can still down blip and it doesn’t cut the revs when you touch the lever, which is really annoying. Cut time is at 85ms and delay at 25 upped the delay to that from 15 made it a bit smoother. I only use it when going flat out as it can be a little bit inconsistent some smooth some not so smooth low down but all good when riding fast as I’m sure it’s intended to be used when going near to red line. If anybody else has some sweet settings be good to hear!

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  Рік тому

      I had mine set from 5.5k up I think in the end and it worked fine, a bit lumpy too low down but still worked fine. Cut time on the down shift? I never tried that to be honest so am no use there. I only use it for upshifts. I was using a 90ms cut time and the default delay, I never changed that one as it worked fine for me. Sorry I can't be of more help!

    • @lewda1000
      @lewda1000 Рік тому

      @@TheGorillaBiker I don’t use it for down shifts either was just saying above that it will still cut the revs on downshift because of the sensor that’s why I had the lower limit revs set so high as you wouldn’t be changing down much and rev matching over 8k often so most of the time it won’t cut the fuel. But will still cut changing up above 8k 👍🏻hope this makes sense and thanks for the reply

    Mmm interesting GB would I have a quick shifter ! probably not it certainly is a slick system you fitted on the Falco, but fer me if ain't already there I wouldn't add it . I only say that in this case because I have this feeling that the gearbox is not made to accommodate this stuff , and I know that has absolutely no reasoning behind it but that's me fer ya . On my XJR it's standard silencers only because I have not seen a system I like the look of . They are all cans and they don't suite that bike (in my opinion) . The magna will have non standard silencers and complete system eventually . It will also have a custom paint job too eventually but as you well know these things ain't cheap but we gotta do em right : D) good one mate well done : )

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  2 роки тому +1

      A lot of people have that concern but it's less harsh than say clutchless shifting, which is fine. Will it wear the gearbox slightly faster? Probably, but that's ok to me. It's hard to find ones that look nice in fairness, I'd like a factory look but better performance. Haha can't wait to see it all :)

Will you wrap or bundle them? The one from the shift mechanism itself looks particularly vulnerable to boots. Who knows what I might do if I had some money . . . 🤔 Then I think I'd be better off putting money aside for a different bike that wouldn't need the mods I am thinking about .... There's actually pretty thick insulation on them to be fair to them, and I don't have enough length to wrap them up. That cable from the shifter has since been migrated behind the sprocket cover and tied to the clutch line away from the sprocket, I couldn't leave it there.
