Fitted the Falco with an RSV Mille shock with hyperpro spring and matching RSV shock linkages. Backend much much better now, no longer hopping like a pogo stick. Also has now the battery wiring done and a new screen is on the way.
Very nice to meet you the other week in Mondello dude, and thanks for running the competition for the Dango Designs Gripper Mount, haven’t got to use it as yet I will very soon. Will be very sorry to see you move, hopefully you keep the channel going with same content if able, that said the very best of luck on your new adventure 👍🏻
You too! And not at all, I'm always trying to get bits to giveaway but I'm too picky, they have to ask for nothing in return 😂 Ah it'll definitely be kept going, have my eye on a few tracks over yonder and all already! Thank you! :)
I reckon you made the right call, difficult as it may have been. There are other bikes and other Falcos, and this one might still be around if/when you return. Fingers crossed. You (and the bike) have already done a service to the Internet and motorcycle culture by floating what has been a largely and wrongly forgotten model.
Yeah thought about it a lot and while I wasn't happy with the decision it did make the most sense. Ah it will, Aidan is a very good rider and looks after his bikes :) Ah well thank you for saying so! Maybe one day Aprilia will re run it if the name grows enough :) Glad to be of some small help 😁
Doesn't matter if we think you should have kept it. You already sold it. I think it's a great idea. There are many bikes in USA you can buy cheaper-ish and fix up a bit. You'll end up on something grand my man.
True enough but I'm always open to learning I'm wrong or have done something silly :P Yeah that was the idea, move with the cash(since I'll bloody need it) and then mess around with other things. And probably find another falco at some point :P
A very honest, well considered video if a tad sad. Looking for positives, you know where it's going and how much it will be appreciated and cared for (I imagine the conversation with Mr Chunky Mits was interesting haha). Once settled in NC you can look for another with an experienced, expert eye. Plus, in the US, you can do a collect and ride home over ridiculous distances with less hassle than in Europe. I know you've thought of all this already and it's a difficult decision but for what it's worth I'd sell and look forward, if only to lessen the multitude of "stuff" to do with the move. Cheers Andy.
Ah every ending can be a new beginning, I'm only sad cus I love bikes there'll be more :) Haha he has been well warned how to look after it or I'll come back and push his other bikes over :P Yeah that's the hope, find another one when I can! And ride it mad distances home without bloody water crossings cus they're a pain in the ass :P Yeah I thought about it a lot and it just seemed the most sensible rather than have the mad levels of stress trying to move it. I know it makes a lot of sense from a head perspective but you know yourself, have to convince the heart 😂😂
Its going to a good home, and you can always pick one up in the states, as you know what you're looking for. Again, good luck on the move across the ocean.
You should I think prepare your mind for a new chapter in you Biking Odyssey. The roads are different, the climate is different, the traffic is different and the second hand bike market is different. You will find new horses for new courses. Who knows what you will find yourself falling in love with over there in the Colonies? You have done your duty by the Falco making us aware of what was, for me at least and unknown machine. Good Luck in your search for new love. 😉
I already have, it's been handed over and all since this video was made :) I get sad thinking about these things but I've already generally thought them through a lot, and it was the best decision I could come to I think! There will be many bikes for me to buy over :) Ah tbh that's the best thing that could have come out of all this is that I've let more people know about the lovely Falco, never know what might help things come back in to popularity and get another production run :)
Get a set of Aprilia Racing SL carbon exhaust, derestrict the air intake and install the "GINA CHIP" EPROM from Gabro Racing Team Italy. You will be VERY impressed.
I would have loved to have more time to play around with the bike, unfortunately at the end of this video I covered how I had to sell it as I'm leaving Ireland. Still breaks my heart to think about it!
I wouldn't say harsh, there is a lot of engine braking, but that's with any big twin tbh. If you compare it to any triple or inline 4 it'll be a lot more.
That's a tough call, the sensible thing to do and maybe at a future date if they don't total it try to import it into the US OR if you move back to Ireland buy it back. It's a tough call, i personally would look into shipping it to the US and see if the bank account can afford it or if it can actually be imported. BTW.. The Pan America will fry your legs as well in slow traffic.
Oh I looked in to importing it very hard, but the rules in place are fine it's just the length of time it'd take and the cost wasn't a sensible thing to do when I'm going to have lots of moving costs anyway, I have first option on it if he ever sells it :) Haha I think a lot of big high power twins might 😂 Especially with those rad fans on blowing the air on to you.
loved my falco had it for 6years and regret selling it will gett another one. sachs shock on them and change the he clutch jet. have a word with AP performance they'll help you out
hey @nikbar1721, I also own a Falco and i was wondering, what the inner city / outer city consumption on yours ? Its just because, in mine its pretty high I think. Around 9lt/100km.. Any thoughts ? Thanks
I want another one over here, might find one one day. I didn't have any issues finding parts tbh, they share a lot with the RSV1000 so you can just talk to a good parts store and they'll steer you right. My local shop sourced everything for me.
Try looking at european sites for things also you can often interchange a fuel pump that'll output a similar pressure, just might need to do some adapting
Bye bye Falco, sad to see it go, but the cost to ship it vs buying a bike out in the USA and selling this one can't be viable so best to pass it on to a mate who will love it. Def the right decision, the Magna and Gixer, that is different, but this and the CBF, sell them and replace them... just think, you'll have all the weird bikes that America gets that we don't to enjoy! 🙂
Yeah it just didn't make any sense to attempt it sadly :( That's the way the chips fall sometimes, and he's absolutely in love with it now as I am which is nice :) Oh yeah they'll never be sold. I wasn't joking about that! The CBF is a different one as well as I really feel I did almost everything I wanted to do on it so it's less sad if that makes sense. Oh yeah, the giant cruisers etc :)
I did indeed, sorry to drop a video on you but I know my mixed usage is in here ua-cam.com/video/ZCaaW7Zh8cQ/v-deo.html I know I averaged about 8.8l/100km overall in cities when I did measure it. My memory isn't the best for that however.
My sympathy to your loss. That's the way life goes, m8, we all went through that. Why don't they build it anymore? Most likely cos they got the Tuono nonfactory to travel, the factory for the weirdos, and rsv for the nuts. Guess if you want that feeling, just bolt some clip-ons on a tuono. ;) But you are lucky to get better bikes for big guys over there, the big ones we don't get in good old Europe anymore due to the emissions like the 1400 Kawa and such stuff. :)
Ah look it was the right decision. I dont regret it and it's made my buddy extremely happy which is always good :) Yeah definitely I think they just don't need to build it since the tuono exists and works very well. I have it in my head now to buy a Tuono, put clips on on it and stick a custom fairing on there :P Yeah definitely. Europe has ruined a lot of great bikes for, imo, no real reason other than lip service. It's a pity!
Always sad when you have to sell a bike. Even if it makes sense. I am sure you will find something just as good in the USA. I bet you have already started browsing the classifieds near where you are moving to.
It is, especially when I do feel like I have "unfinished business" in a way :P Still it was the right decision and my buddy has since collected it and is absolutely in love, which honestly makes me very happy too. Oh god yeah for months now 😂😂😂
Well sad as it is the new move is another chapter and who knows what ya might find over stateside and you could do a similar type of journey as when ya went ta Germany but not even leave the country over there 😁.If by chance yer friend decides no then in your position I would probably look to sell it anyway or mothball it why not?😁.Its a strange one that the manufacturers seem ta let silly faults slip by not sure why ,it's kinda like these days were they will design a seat fer a bike and then sell a comfort seat as an extra what the hell is that about why not put the bloody comfortable seat on it ta start with who wants an aching arse 😁 .cheers 😉👍
Ah I'll definitely have to do a similar journey now :P My brain wants to buy bikes that way 😂 He has since bought it and is as in love with it as I am, which has actually made selling it a lot easier tbh :) Very good point on the seats and stuff, I do think the reason now is cynical, they know people will pay more for them, instead of just having it as standard which is absolutely insane if you think about it. I think in the past it was probably more short testing times and things just getting overlooked accidentally as that's what humans do eh :) Thanks bud :)
It's already gone 😭😭😭. Honestly shipping was just an insane amount of hassle anyway with me possibly returning in a few years. I'll likely just buy it back 😂
Hahahaha so you clicked on a video and you thought my opinion would be conveyed how? By interpretative dance? If you were lightbulb in a room you'd be changed. I'll do what I like on my channel, including occassional interpretative dance. Feel free to never watch or comment on another video, thanks petal 😘
Well said sir, I'm had similar things on my channel. PS, did the deal on a 2001 Aprilia Falco today. Sold my 2019 Tuono V4 1100. I'm genuinely finding older bikes more fun. The new ones just do everything so well you need to be going 200kph plus before they get fun. @@TheGorillaBiker
I'll be ok. In time :D Any questions on any part of the bike/video, let me know below in the comments :)

love my Yellow Falco with SLcarbon cans, real beast. keeping it forever 🙂
I wish I hadn't had to sell mine. I still look for the all the time on marketplace.
The heat from the rear cylinder header doesn't help the rear shock either
So I've heard. Be interesting to add a proper heat shield on it and see how it gets on.
Got a YSS rear shock on mine, (cheapest I could get! ) but has made it soo much better 👌
this was a big issue for the TL1000 with 90deg V. Falco not so much of a problem
That’s a tough sell man, but completely understand. Hopefully you and toaster find a good replacement for her in the states.
Yeah just a lot easier to travel as light as humanly possible. I'm sure we will! :)

Perfectly still. I'll have a video out on all the healtech bits I've used soon. I think it's an excellent choice for the Falco personally!
