Cecil done nothing with Frankel that Gosden or Stoute or ...(insert another dozen or so names here)... couldn't have done. The horse was fantastic. Yes Henry was a "great" trainer, as would dozens of others have been, had they taken the arab shilling. You get sent the best thoroughbreds in your stable = you become a great trainer. Not rocket science, is it?

11.91 for the last furlong on heavy going is something to behold, in my opinion he would of won the Derby, he has left a legacy not only on the track but in breeding, his sons and daughters have already proved this

CDA is a total BEAST in the mud and holds the track record for 1m 2f at Ascot. Frankel hated the ground and lost 3 lengths at the start, yet he still won with 2 lengths to spare and this result is looking even better after CDA beat Treve in the Prix Ganay today

I loved the commentry just before Frankels turn of foot in each race, words like 'poised, finger on the button, trigger etc.', the horses character pays huge dividence to his physical capabilities, but collectively, this horse was quiet simply 'controlled chaos', utter destruction, in such an elegant manner

This is a direct quote taken from the book that came out about Black Caviar made by her trainer Peter Moody. Quote: "I've been around horses all of my life and I've never known one better than Black Caviar. I find judging her place in racing history hard because I'm so close to her. That's why I've always deferred to other people's opinions. What I do know is this, Black Caviar is the finest horse I've ever seen or worked with.........until I saw Frankel win on that Tuesday (Queen Anne Stakes) at Royal-Ascot." End quote, enough said!

    • @oot007
      @oot007 Рік тому

Black Caviar was great but she was just a sprinter. Only raced between 1000 to 1400 metres. She never raced in the biggest races in Australia such as the Melbourne Cup or the Championship of Australasia aka the Cox Plate because Moody knew she had no chance of winning them. As her winning streak grew her races were handpicked to protect her record.
There are many other great champions of the Australian turf that do not have perfect records because they raced over greater range of distances and even unsuitable distances against each other because that what racing was about.

He was just made different to any other horse I've ever seen, his gate, his stride length, his frame. He was simply a freak in the best sense and I'd be amazed if we ever see another like him, for me it's not even an argument, when someone asks who's the greatest racehorse there's ever been, it's a simple answer - Frankel.

I'm sorry but this was so impressive... 3 lengths at least given away at the start, hadn't raced on ground like this since his debut/maiden whereby he beat the multiple future Group 1 Nathaniel, again in this race, to come cantering up on Cirrus Des Aigles (who since won 4 group ones and 2 other group races)... and to be fair he would have won on the bridle to be honest!!

Was at Ascot today and have to say it was absolutely brilliant all round and not just because I had three winers. The Champion Stakes was one of if not the race of the flat season for 2013 and Farhh proved in the end that he was a superb horse in his own right. Farhh and Cirrus Des Aigles end 2013 simply adding more to the Frankel legend that two horses he smashed up in 2012 fought out the finish in the 2013 Champion Stakes. And of course: I was on at 7/2. Hope we all enjoyed it. Roll on jumps!

It won the triple crown. Kentucky derby he set every fraction faster than the previous. In the preakness he made the most astonishing 2nd turn spurt in racing history. In the Belmont he won by 31 lengths.
In all 3 races he beat the course record. No horse is yet to get within two seconds of this time!! This is on a surface where races are generally more truly run so records are hard to break. Oh also his jockey claimed he was better on turf also. Of course a grade one winner on turf too. :-)

I smile every time I watch Frankels races. I'd never felt more confident of backing a horse with my entire savings, as I was before Frankel won the 2000 Guineas. I could have had £7500 on him at 8/11. My Mrs told me, that if I did the bet, regardless of win or lose, then we'd be done. Imagine how I felt, sitting at work watching the race on TV and seeing Frankel cruising at halfway, 10-12 lengths clear of the field, with all the other jockeys rowing away and in trouble. I was gutted.
People forget how good a horse Nathanial was too. He got to within half a length of Frankel in their maiden race, but was destroyed in this race. I honestly believe that Frankel would have won the Arc De Triomphe, had he stayed in training and given the chance to run....he was that good.
The only 2 horses that come close for me, but for different reasons were Dancing Brave and Enable.
Frankel was without doubt, the best Horse I have ever seen, an equine freak and a true champion of champions.

Without question, Cirrus Des Aigles is arguably one of the best soft ground middle distance horses in the world. How many other horses except a horse the caliber of a Frankel could've dwelt coming out of the starting gate like he did in a major G1 race against Cirrus Des Aigles on this kind of ground and still roll right on by him in the stretch barely off the bridal. That instant burst of acceleration Frankel possessed when asked by Queally settled all of his races in a heartbeat. Just a fact.

I am a person who recognises greatness. I recognised Black Caviar's. I also recognise Frankel's brilliance. His Guineas win will go down in history. He beat Excelebration by 11 lengths. He was a champion 2 year old and beat the best of the best again and again and on all grounds. I can only define Frankel as greatness. And nothing will change that.

Hey walto. Interesting fact ! The horse the beat Man o' War was called Upset. In those days, the word upset had a more literal meaning, along the lines of tip over, or capsize. But it had no particular connection with sports. Then came Upset’s victory over the seemingly invincible Man o’ War. So shocking was Upset’s triumph over Man o’ War, that sports scribes began to describe unexpected outcomes in other sports like football and basketball by saying so-and-so “pulled off an Upset.” (cont2)

Runs right by Nathaniel, a previous King George & Coral-Eclipse winner like he was idling in neutral and then under only a hand ride, never touched with the whip, runs down a multiple G1 winner in Cirrus des Aigles who was arguably the toughest soft ground middle distance horse in racing at that time, and did it after dwelting, falling out of the stalls, and spotting him the better part of 3 lengths at the start. Frankel had an engine that even the best of the best horses just simply weren't equipped to handle or deal with. He had way of making it look so easy to make a great horse look average and a good horse look like it should be running in novice stakes races on the all-weather somewhere.

Sir Henry Cecil (god rest his soul) said that Frankel was the best he'd ever seen. Really and truly that's all I need. After all, he was possibly the greatest trainer ever. I mean that Guineas win was just unbelievable, I was watching it on the big screen from Goodwood racecourse and I actually said to my mate: "he'll never win" and to be honest I felt his Queen Anne win was the best performance on a British racecourse since Arkle was laughing at Mill House in the 1960s.

As for Andy Murray, yeah it was great. I'm not a Tennis fan myself. I find it quite boring but it was nice for people to get behind someone like him and he's a real top chap. He may be Scottish but when it comes to things like this we like to call him British. You see, when he loses he's Scottish and when he wins he's British. You have to laugh, still, as you say, it brings an end to 77 years of waiting, I believe.

The whole racing world is in mourning today after the tragically sad death of Sir Henry Cecil. Who would have thought that just 7 months after training Frankel to his biggest victory the legendary trainer was to die. Sad day for everyone. I am sure he will never be forgotten through his record of 75 Royal Ascot winners and hopefully through the success of Frankel at stud. The Sport Of King's has lost one of it's King's today. Again - RIP Sir Henry.

More and more proof that Frankel was the best thoroughbred many of us have ever seen. I felt so stupid for not backing Farhh after watching him dot up. I went and backed Beauty Parlour but after she was pulled out I decided not to have a bet even though I all but knew Declaration Of War couldn't win. Shame about Cityscape - they'll call it a day with him now. I will say that Aljamaheer has had a run like that in him for a while and will win a decent race this year.

I didn't realise that both Lucky Nine and Military Attack started their careers in Europe. Lucky Nine only had three runs for Andy Oliver in Ireland (winning a maiden and being placed in two others) and Military Attack had six runs for John Hills in England (winning four, two handicaps and a maiden). You would be surprised at the amount of top horses out in the far east that started off at a lower level in Europe.

Frankel - who is the only horse to have topped the world rankings as a two, three and four-year-old - was rated 9lb ahead of his nearest 2012 rival, Champion Stakes runner-up Cirrus des Aigles on 131, with unbeaten Australian sprinter Black Caviar and Excelebration next on 130.
    9 pounds = 9 lengths plus
The international rankings, which have only included American horses since 1995, were ratified during a conference of handicappers from around the world in Hong Kong last month.

At 300mts he was no more than 4L behind the leader. As for the huge acceleration he suppose to have shown, He ran the last 200mts around 13secs = 34.5mph Hello!

Frankel capability(even though believed to have a bigger heart) was his pure natural talent which he had from day 1, talent that mainly consisted of his long stride and straight forwardness in regards to jockey commands giving TQ the option to easily take him through gears or to relax him even if sustaining a high cruising speed. He also had a deep girth and very powerful hind legs which meant he could do anything from going faster than a top sprinter or relaxing for a longer and bumpier trip

I see you often comment about the things Black Caviar did that Frankel didn't and try to use this to justify you're grievances. However, there are many things that can act as vice versa. Frankel won a Group 1 by 11 lengths, defeated the world's 2nd and 3rd best racehorses, won on heavy going, managed to be 15 lengths clear at one point in a Classic and still won by 6, was European champion 2 year old, strung together 9 consecutive group 1 wins and achieved the highest ever rating for a racehorse

Don't know if you know but the mighty Sprinter Sacre has been given 188 by the handicapper and is within 2lb of King Kauto.Amazing machine and worthy of being labbled 'the Frankel of the jumps'.Agree also with Bobs Worth's 180 and on good

The classic example of Excelebration's defeat in the USA was in 1986. Dancing Brave, the best horse in the world, one of the best racehorses ever had just won the Arc in one of the best performances of all time. He went over to race in the Breeders Cup Turf where he could only finish 4th. Despite this he was still regarded as the best horse not only in that race but in the world and still today regarded as one of the best ever.

yes you should read the press more often: "Frankel was responsible for a year-on-year increase of 50% in the attendance figure when he ran at York and Ascot must now plan for a surge of interest from racegoers desperate to see Frankel race before he retires to stud"
Frankel is legendary because of his ability displayed in different styles and always in an devastating manner Guineas 2000, Queen Anne, Juddmonte, This 3 great performances I for one will remember forever.

its funny how O Peslier when he sees Frankel in the corner of the eye he immediately panics and stars whipping :-).. the lateral cameras give away a much more true representations on how easily Frankel passed Nathaniel and CDA and at the furlong mark TQ asks him to extend and in a furlong on that soft ground he makes 2 lengths from CDA.. awesome!

How good does Olivier Pelier look on the back of Cirus des Aigles in this, I've watched this through 100 times and watch his head, his back, his rear, how smooth he is through the bend at over 40mph, I mean seriously that is a jockey.

I'll ask you a couple of questions Walto. Is every Cox Plate/Caulfied Cup winner as good as each other? If not why not? And as you vehemently criticise Frankels connections for not travelling, what do you think of the Aus horses who dont go for the Breeders Cup or our Derby or compete worldwide? 'weak as piss'? Top class horses won the Cox Plate but some won it who would be lapped by even Farrh.Much like our Derby and some Breeders Cup winners. How do we know?

" 6-horse field" this small field was the highest quality field assembled by a long margin in the last years based on IFHA classification of the first three placed horses . It included the highest rate horse, the 2nd and the 7th rated horse in the world. It achieved a rating average of 129.75. While the 2nd best race was the Frankel's Juddmonte with an average rating of 126.75, and only after these two in which Frankel was involved was the 2011 Arc of Danedream with an average of 126.25

@eagle4397 here Eagle mate i'll quote what Moody as said to support your arguments to probitch ;)
Interview in England - "She's (Black Caviar) beaten all the type of horses you can race against and her rating keeps going down and his (Frankels) keep's going up , bit odd that" - Peter Moody
Interview before her first race back this year - "We supposedly had to leave our shores to prove we were the BEST IN THE WORLD , we did that" - Peter Moody

@CharlesOlney23 The exact length win if she was ridden out is something we can't say but what we can say both watching her races is that she would've won by more then when she was eased up as i keep harping on about , look at her Orr stakes and tell me had she not been eased up what would you think the length win would've been roughly? she won by under 4lengths being eased up , 5-6 maybe ? also watch her 2nd win , she wins by 5-6 lengths being eased up ,would've been more.

@protarget1 When did I say it never happened ? lol
Which is all neat and all but what did MOW have to do with anything ? it's like me saying Zenyatta lost by the shortest of margins in her last race and only ever defeat , it's true but what's it got to do with anything ?

Frankel defeated a horse rated 126 by 11 lengths at Royal Ascot. Show me a performance akin to that this side of the millennium. Even when Harbinger won the 2010 King George by 10 lengths, Cape Blanco (second) was rated 119. Even Aiden O'Brien said Excelebration was as good if not better than Giant's Causeway and Rock of Gibraltar and they both got beat in the USA.
