RIP Black Caviar. The best sprinter the world has ever seen.
I'm British and I have to say that Black Caviar is the greatest sprinter I've ever seen, and I've been following horse racing since 1961. In all those years, there has been nothing in Europe to compare with this incredible horse. 25 wins from 25 races says it all.
It’s a shame she wasn’t at her best at Royal Ascot. I feel like the racing public were robbed of a spectacle and unfortunately there’s those with limited racing faculty that think it was indicative of her capability
Sad to see her go :(
The finest in my 60 odd years. She could do 3 sub 10 second furlongs in a row and have everyone beat a long way out. Was never bottomed out. Poetry.
@@davidclarke9835 not sure about 3 sub 10s in a row, but she was incredible. It’s a shame Luke Nolan eased her up to extent he did in the Newmarket as she’d hold both the 5 and 6F track records at Flemington.
@@bgardiner2000 If one studies virtually all of her perfomances there are at least three things that are very obvious. Firstly she had an enormous will to win evinced in the fact that Hay List beccame a passenger so many times. Hay List was no slouch. Secondly, Nolan never does any more than to show the whip. Thirdly, Nolan almost always slows, sometimes canters, when he thinks they are home showing respect that the job is done. What happened at Epsom also showed evidence of the latter, especially when trainer (and jockey?) knew she had sustained the injury to rear leg pre race. The independent vet's report on that injury can be found.
A great Champion.
Rip black caviar, had to watch all your wins today. A once in a lifetime horse ❤
RIP black caviar
RIP superstar. Best Australian horse ever and the best sprinter the world has ever seen
Black Caviar, Winx and Makybe Diva, we have been blessed
Black Caviar never let anyone down ever , champion mare
True indeed! She even gutted through one of the most painful disease processes a horse can experience, and gave them one last colt. I hope he’s getting the best of care, the kindest nurse mare, and that he does Nelly proud. Rest in peace, Nelly. Greatest racehorse I’ve ever followed.
RIP CHAMP ❤🇦🇺
We’ve since had a few other champions come along and I must admit I’ve seriously underestimated how good BC was .. after watching this video you realise that she did things that no other horse could do.. extremely high cruising speed, she was so confident, it didn’t matter how crowded she was.. where most horses would fade under pressure she pretty much just kept cruising.. it also seemed like it didn’t really matter where she landed or missed the start , she’d just be near the front effortlessly .. she’d be 5 wide last and within 50 meters she’d be in front with her head on her chest.. true legend
❤️ Black Caviar ❤️ A very sad day .. RIP 🥰
How lucky we were that this beautiful mare and Frankel were racing in the same era. To watch these two majestic horses was a privilege..
Incredible horse, the way she won it looked like she wasn't even trying that hard, seemed to just float over the ground, the greatest sprinter ever no doubt in my mind 👌❤️
Best horse ever
RIP Black Caviar
RIP, brought so much joy to myself
Poor Haylist. A champion in his own right
Rip black caviar, you were a true champion
I was very sadden to here this news just loved this horse a true champion 😢
RIP beautiful girl
what a legend...rest in peace Black Caviar
What a Great Horse..wow
I remember emailing an older guy who used to own some horses/was a big punter. I said “this 2yo Black Caviar she’s huge and she ran the same time as the older group sprinters on the day at her first start eased down she looks really good!” He got back to me after her 2nd start and said “you’ve got a good eye - privately Peter Moody is saying BC is the fastest horse since Vain!” Should go without saying that I was a little shocked at that 😂😂
Bullshit
@@Metropolitanpolice--gs2yl that’s for the input
I recall BC was early in her career and Hay List had blown them away in a good sprint. A media man interviewed Moody "He's the fastest horse in Australia ". Moody " He's very good isn't he. I've got a fast young girl at home too. We shall see"
@@davidclarke9835 crazy stuff. I still say if BC wasn’t around - we would have been calling Hay List the freak. He had issues - but when he was healthy - the only horse to ever give BC a race. They used to murder Buffering - as soon as BC & HL were gone he was winning group ones here and overseas 😂
I think Black Caviar in that Goodwood - she didn’t beat champions but they were good horses - and it was literally a track gallop. Just strolled around for 1200m like it was a pipe opener. To be able to do that against very good horses is mental.
In the race before that in Adelaide, the Robert Sangster Stakes, she beat a mare from Perth called Power Princess... who was a very good sprinting mare who held the 1000m distaff record at Ascot in Perth. She went to Adelaide in very good form... Black Caviar beat her by 5L... and was literally never out of second gear. Very few people really understand the depth of Australia's sprinting ranks... for a horse to remain unbeaten like she did they need to be a lot better than the opposition, which of course she was.
RIP BLACK CAVIAR! I wish your owners weren't greedy pigs, you would still be with us!
Greatest sprinter iv seen till date
Best horse ever from England
RIP BC! A rest well deserved!
Thanks for this! Love this legend of the turf...undefeated.. amazing.
Rip legend
RIP
She is always in control in her running I describe it automatic cruise control
She was just brilliant ❤it was a sad day when I heard the news 😢I was punting when It came on the tab 😢
"Have a look at Hay List, he's beaten the rest of them by an absolute furlong and she's towelled him again." Haha. What an incredible horse, just stunning.
It almost got boring watching her win so many races with so much ease
Simply THE GREATEST sprinter in history
The Usain Bolt of the equine world.
Frankel was better
@@tonynewsam7685 Frankel was a great champion no doubt. Black Caviar won more races and more Grp1 races, both were undefeated, but Black Caviar wet undefeated in a career that lasted much longer
different distances. he wasnt beating her over 1200m, and she wasnt beating him over 2000m. @@tonynewsam7685

The greatest mare in recent history.
Love it when she goes past Rain Affair in the her last race. He looks across as if in shock and is put completely off his stride
😂😂😂 totally right “hey wait how can you run this fast at this stage of the race?” 😂
Good night, the Queen.
She done wat she loved to do just Run .Champion
She not only beat them She brained them
Amazing , she automatically turn up the speed
every time near the 400 meter and the Jacky just hand ride her and goes away 😅
27:40 start 22 The Goodwood. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a horse win a race literally untouched. I’ve seen just ridiculous dominant wins huge margins but a win where the horse wasn’t even asked for an effort?? That’s a mental cruising speed
Dundeel in the 2013 derby. Interestingly he ran a faster last 200 than Black caviar did in her final race the TJ (on the same day)
@@AK-cw7ei that was definitely a freakish win. Thought we had a deadset champion on our hands after that 1. He was great as an older horse but just not quite what I thought he might be after that. That derby win was mental
30:00 jockey would've mysteriously disappeared if it'd got nailed on the line there. He's not riding it for the last 100m
My thoughts to he got way to overconfident and nearly lost the greatest horse its unbelievable record
To be fair, he eased up because typically she runs out races. But because she suffered not only bad bruising, but TORE two muscles during the race, she started to pull up a lot quicker. Without those injuries, it isn't as close. Courageous for the horse to still win despite being injured.
@@0077725 yes but no. yeah she got injuries and pulled up easier but still in that race the jockey is at fault not the horse. he eased her down being cocky and overconfident not because injury
@@ryanhodson993 The jockey stopped riding. But the horse eased up because it had torn muscles. It's not about assigning blame. Look at every race black caviar had. Her easing down pace was almost as fast as a lot of her opponents. And despite jockey and being injured, and travelling thousands of miles to an unfamiliar track, she still won.
@@0077725 ok so the commentator knows nothing about horse racing because even he said the jockey nearly blew it. the jockey controls the horse he stopped riding end of arguement
Barely off the bridle just incredible
History will forget the uncaring greedy ownership that exploited a true champion equine, but we should never forgive those owners how took advantage of a living soul so carelessly
The colt they harvested before destroying her was her 9th foal. Enough was never enough…and she paid with her life.
Disgusting and abusive..she never got a chance to just live a quiet life in retirement. The racing industry is a disgrace.
Agree , she never knew any rest in her life. Regimental worked in her racing career . And regimental incubated in the remainder. She had had enough of them.
IMAGINE CAVIAR against this great field in the EVEREST DAM!! 🏆 Horse but let's face it look at the competition it had?? 🐴😃
The competition who had? Black Caviar?
Black Caviar accelerates like Frankel
How did they end up killing Black caviar ?
RIP Beautiful CHAMPIONESS with your baby in the green pastures of heaaven
Did she best the best in the world?
The Ascot performance robbed the fans of what could have been. We could have had a world tour but the result shook the connections enough pull any plans and take her back to Aus.
She was way off (about 8 lengths) the normal pace, 12 lengths off the record and fortunate that it was a poor crop that year. Society Rock was decent depending if he decided to run or not, he won the previous year but it was a really poor time.
But if BC ran that race any year since with a one minute fourteen second time she'd only have won in 2021.
It why despite being well supported on the day and the crowd cheer her home to keep her unbeaten record. You will still find some fans smirk if you mention Black Caviar in the same breath as Frankel.
“Some fans” ???
It was a poor run that day but definitely out of character for her. Distance of travel and a long campaign had to have affected her performance.
Frankel was a champion, no doubt. Both different horses and the very best at their preferred distances.
I read an article, and her trainer said she had torn two muscles in that race. That she had pulled up very sore at the end, if it was true then that also explains why it wasn't her best run.
we consider a 11 or 12 year old horse to be very mature or senior of age,18 years old is very old for a horse, most horses not make it past 20 years, they were still breeding her at a extremely old age, shameful really.
Why is nobody talking about how she really died
Sits up outside after recovering awkwardly some of them races.
Then just waits for them to be gone trying then Black Caviar just goes bye bye.
any track records for the wonder sprinter of the world ?
After returning from the UK she raced first up and won her third Lightning Stakes over 5F. The track record was held by a very good sprinter called Special in 1988. In the 90’s they changed the watering rules in Australia to prevent injury from racing on too hard tracks. Special’s time was 55.5… they only recorded times to 1 decimal point in those days. It was widely accepted that the track records set before the changes to the watering rules would never be beaten. In the 2012 Lightning Stakes black Caviar beat Hay List, running a sectional in 9.98 secs. She effectively equalled the track record running 55.54. In 2013, first up and eased down she ran 55.45. Had Nolan rode her out in the Newmarket she would have eclipsed the6F track record as well, while setting a distaff weight carrying record, in a race that had been run for 136 years… she was a phenom
She won so many of these races cruising or geared down. The Ascot race was one of few I can remember her really fighting at the end… but she did! I think not chasing the flash or putting a lot of emphasis on setting records (other than winning) probably helped the longevity of her career.
How can any alleged racing fan offer such a question after observing the finishing in most of the vision here. She was eased up most of the time when she had conquered the opposition.
Have her foals started racing yet?
Yes quite a few one of her mares invincible caviar passed away a couple weeks ago unfortunetly
Scary how if the jockey wanted to it could get her going quicker and quicker.
Greed killed her, putting her in foal AGAIN and the pathetic owners say they loved her....they only cared about the money and prestige not about this beautiful girl
Straight into a handicap. No MDN needed 😂
Oki
The only time she won with less than a length margin was in England where Nolen fell asleep on her in the last hundred metres...
She had enough in that last 50-70m. Look at her running action compared to her other races. She wasn’t comfortable
Actually, he eased her because he felt she had done enough and it turned out she was bruised and had 2 torn muscles...missed the entire spring carnival in Australia. Which is on reason why Winx didn't go...she was OLDER that Black Caviar was at the time she went and even with a compression suit to help with circulation, Black Caviar was tired and flat and her trainer felt she hadn't coped well with the 30 hours of travel in spite of the precautions. Winx stayed home, healthy and ran til age 7 and created an incredible winning streak.
I remember watching that, the Brit commentators went to town on Nolen. I remember them saying something to the effect of "Luke Nolan will never ride another race in England." They were just stinky because they still couldn't beat the BC legend, typical poms vs. aussie rivalry.
@@secretariatgirl4249Black Caviar didn't miss the spring after Royal Ascot. In fact she broke the Flemington 5F track record first up the following spring
@@marcusaurelius4360 Those commenters soon shut their gobs when they saw the report done by the vet that attended her for that race. She basically won on three legs.
How to compare with Silent Witness?
Black Caviar is THE greatest sprinter in history worldwide. Silent Witness was very good too, as was Sacred Kingdom however the Black Flash was a freak. She's up in the rarified air with Secretariat, Ribot, Frankel, Brigadier Gerrard. Winx, Phar Lap, Tulloch, Man o' War, Sea Bird
All depends on the location I think, in Hong Kong SW, in Aus BC
@@leedelaney70 what about the great TULLOCH beat phar lap's time in ajc derby by 2 seconds yes 2 seconds, so why do people keep saying phar lap was better than tulloch? tulloch only unplaced once in 53 starts, lost 23 months due to illness. won 1957 caufield cup 2nd fastest time ever in the world, beat todman as a 2yo twice, won the ajc, vrc and qtc sires produce for 2yo's. pharlap v tulloch tulloch by 5 lengths.
@@brumbyrider54 "She's up in the rarified air with Secretariat, Ribot, Frankel, Brigadier Gerrard. Winx, Phar Lap, Tulloch, Man o' War, Sea Bird"........do you see Tulloch in this list ?
@@brumbyrider54so... Tulloch was better than Phar Lap because he ran 12F faster? Interesting...
Really she carried her last foal in so much pain shamefull to the connections
It’s a shame that Nolan eased her up in the Newmarket… she would hold the 5 and the 6F track records at Flemington… and neither would be bettered…. Ever
BTW, I found the jockey didn't slap the whip at all, just pushed along throughout the race (of course let's ignore the moment he eased up at the final meters). Was he found sth had already gone terribly wrong with BC which made him decided not to push her too hard?
@@myfrobert are you talking about the Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot? My comment above is about her Newmarket Handicap win where she set her peak rating.
In the DJ, per Luke Nolen's after race interview I think he thought he could idle her and she would power through the line like she normally did... but when he stopped riding she pulled up a lot quicker than he was accustomed to... indicating she was likely feeling the effects of the injury. Either way she was a fair way from her best.
You look at it and there still isn't a horse in Australia that's unbeaten but maybe future champions incentivise and zaaki
incentivise hasn’t won twice, if any horse has been close to black caviar id say it was Winx
@@iPR3D4TORz I preferred watching Winx because I prefer watching races that fell within her distance bracket. However, strictly from a pure form perspective Black Caviar was a superior animal. The Australian sprint division is generally regarded as the best in the world and BC dominated it with total authority. The same cannot be said for the division Winx dominated.
Future champions? Joseph, seems like you stop taking your medicine again…
Incentivise will be the next big horse zaaki no
@@vanguard8471 Nope. Marabi the next black caviar
Interestingly, Frankel, who btw. could have been a champion from 5f-12f. in the QA , He ran the 3rd furlong from home in 10.58secs. It was a faster sectional time than any other horse, including sprinters 😉😃
What was his sectionals for start and mid race? Obviously sprinters jump out quicker and have less rest mid race especially in big races when there’s more pressure. But no doubt he was a freak horse.
A pathetic desperate attempt to undermine the greatest sprinter the world has ever seen. Could have, would have, might have Frankel. Why the fuck you're talking about a middle distance horse on a Black Caviar video is ridiculous and makes no sense.
Black Caviar broke 10 seconds between the 600-400 in the 2012 Lightning Stakes just by the way
Better than Winx I think.
Lol what world are you living in xD
Crazy statement 8:17
We will never know and it does not matter...both Champions in their era.
FLIGHTLINE IS STILL THE BEST !
She did not like following.
Continuous forced breeding was the direct cause of Black caviar's death. Even if the mare is unreceptive to the stallion, she is restrained in different ways so as to not injure the stallion or move away from him as in nature. Basically it can be the equivalent to bondage rape in humans. Sadly in this industry money talks , and the industry doesnt recognise this fact. Human treatment for her infected mothers milk caused her laminitis , and ultimate euthanization. A sad end to a beautiful girl.
Okie em trai minh toi oi ok .!^.^
So called champion, why short field most of her wins? have'nt seen her over 12 horses...
They don't want to face her..looked for easier spots..not her fault
Frankel is always. and rightly, considered to be a Champion too...go and do the same analysis of his races and also observe how many time he had a pacemaker.
She was my favorite horse 🐴👍
