What a gent Henry was, I asked him for his autograph at the Curragh about 20 years ago. He was so polite and friendly.
God rest him.
An absolute gentleman. R.I.P Sir Henry.
I truly believe the racing gods gave frankel to Cecil because he had little time on this Earth..A gift to a great horse man before his departure...I truly believe that..
What a fitting way for
Sir Henry Cecil to bow out the best trainer and the best horse he died doing what he loved and gave us such thrilling moments RIP 🙏 SIR HENRY A TRUE GENTLEMAN
Took my place on the watching platform facing the winners enclosure over an hour before the race and waited excitedly. The king Frankel even made us wait until he was ready to enter for the pre race parade then in he came. All heads turned as he strode round majestically as if knowing what he was about to do. Just watching this video makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.....a true masterclass.
The best ever trainer & greatest horse ever to race. Memories to treasure
Yes, let's not forget the greatness of Sir Henry either. The greatest and most humble trainer in my lifetime. I remember talking to Sir Henry and Paul Cole a couple of year early at York. Both true gentleman who were happy to mix and give the time of day with the ordinary public.
Vincent O'Brien is the greatest trainer ever you 🤡
I was there when he won the Derby and The Arc. Led both races wire to wire en route to a highest ever timeform rating of 165! truly the greatest ever!
Absolutely 💯
The most amazing racehorse to race in the UK, the 2000 Guineas is etched in my memory forever!
Magnificent. I was there that day and never experienced anything even close to it on a racecourse. A one off, just like the great man Sir Henry Cecil. R.I.P Sir Henry.
I was at York that day. Absolutely incredible performance from arguably the best horse ever to see a racecourse. The cheer that went up when Queally hit the front was something else.
Incredibly emotional piece thank you.
The greatest racehorse ive ever seen ( im only 46 😄) every time i have a wee dram i come back to watching equine perfection and it makes me so happy ,what a horse xx
Superb tribute video to the two legends. Beautifully done
👍🏻👍🏻❤️ The greatest combination of horse and trainer.
Your forgetting tom aswell the man that road him every single race
Jimini cricket could have steered frankel in a straight line to victory, hardly an arduous or difficult task, never really knew what the whip was for when he rode frankel, as it wasnt really needed. But yeah well done tom
@@bradleykitts4387 me or u could have sat on Frankel and won he was that good 👍
Billy Scott I know he could but having Tom by his side race after race you know the only race he got close to losing on Tom managed to just him home just in time like frankel was a special one that’s why I love him I cried when he retired he will always be my favourite hands down
bradley kitts Yes, we have to add Tom but his job was very easy, albeit with a lot of pressure, I assume. Although if he hadn’t rode him, we wouldn’t have seen that breathtaking performance in the guineas.
I am ancient enough to have seen live the likes of Nijinsky, Royal Palace, the Brigadier, Mill Reef, Dancing Brave and many other greats. But this was something else, an equine freak of a horse , trained by a genius.
I was there that day in York. Will never forget it. A beautiful day in August. Frankel was travelling so easily, until the 2 furlong marker, Tom shakes the reins and the race was over. 7 lengths. And a welcome at the finishing line that I have never heard at a sporting event. He was just different class. I just wonder what Frankel could have won if Sir Henry had been healthy.
The best horse i have trained and seen ." Frankel is champion of all .Frankel gave happiness to sick Sir Henry Cecil .
Love the shot of Frankel having his Surcingle tucked in at 5.55.The old fashioned elastic girths, alongside his mammoth appetite for oats gave his genius just that extra sparkle for me.No chicken shed nuts for this beast!
Two legends
What really set Frankel apart for me was how quickly when ask for run he was able to go from zero to see you later in the blink of an eye. I liken it to watching one of the old American muscle cars from back in the day with the nitrous boosters. Just push the button and it was blast off!
The key thing about that was that it occurred from the base of a very high cruising speed already.
He didn’t canter 7f and then just raise a sprint for the final 3f he was galloping the whole way and could still instantly go to that next level.
Thank q Sir Henry for the memories
HENRY CECIL WAS THE BEST HORSE TRAINER THE PLANET HAS EVER SEEN. GOD REST HIS SOUL. NUMBER ONE.
Some great and moving words there from William Haggas.
This amazing horse always reminds me of his namesake..Bobby Frankel ..too bad Bobby never got to see him run.....RIP los dos
Mr Cecil, loved you and your horses 🐎 ❤. RIP great man and those nippers you nurtured to greatness
So cool so calm so classy , he had. It all
Absolutely explosive 🧨 and uncomplicated racehorse, horses are beautiful animals with a wonderful brain, people are still saying Frankel never traveled to other countries to take on the best, why should he, they came to him on his own turf, and he slaughtered them all. Never to be seen again, trained by a wonderful man and racehorse trainer, GOD BLESS YOU SIR. I backed him to win ALL 14 races, made a nice mint, could have been a lot more if I had my first stake in his first run, and increased the winnings on each run, would have been a fortune, some of my friends did just that, ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏
Best ever combination !! Sir Henry Cecil and Frankel ..Frankel gave every hope to sir Henry Cecil ..
without a shadow of doubt thee best horse ever 2 grace a horse track
How can you call frankel the best ever when he didnt even compete in The Epsom Derby?
I second that statement as claire balding said 3 furlongs out it's over
@@louminox3065 The distance of the Derby was too long for him, and he was too young to stay according to the judgement of his connections.
@@louminox3065 the Juddmonte at York is the greatest flat race in the world. Doesn't get any bigger than that, and he produced that performance.
@@bananahammock3664 the what at where?!?
Great horse indeed!!!
Great vid
Thank God they have Frankel to the genius that is Henry Cecil 🙏
Amazing
Frankel is a poetry written by Sir Henry Cecil !!
I was there it was unbelievable
END OF ERA
I was there, it was a good day. Thought Worthy in the Voltigeur paid for our drinks for the rest of the day !
I wish that the team had the courage to run Frankel in the Arc De Triomphe or The Breeders Cup. For me, he remains the best horse I've seen, but I believe he had the stamina for the Mile and a Half and would have won well, had he'd taken his chance. Dancing Brave was the nearest I ever saw to Frankel and the Arc he won, being recognised as one of the strongest Arc's ever and the way he won it, is why I hold Dancing Brave in such high esteem, despite his defeat in the Derby....jockey error and his defeat at the Breeders Cup, where he was over cooked and bumped during the race. I know that there will be some that will always question the horses Frankel beat, but he remained undefeated over 3 seasons and mainly group 1's in all goings, you will find it hard to find another horse since Brigadier Gerard that would match that feat. Think of the Nashwan's, Sea the Stars, Camelots, Baeeds etc.....great horses in their own right, but don't come close to the same achievements.
Amazing amazing amazing amazing xxxxxx
Hold on a minute - you said "Frankel - here". But how did that lump of bronze run and win on the day? I'm confused.
I think frankel was top 3 of all time
I’m sorry but saying to Henry his work is done with frankel I find is just disrespectful I know he didn’t mean it but you never say that he was just as important to frankel
It looked like if the field did not get the trip..He cruise up and drew clear
Who is this fool russe? You quite obviously don't know what your talking about! I've been watching racing for over 50yrs and Frankel was without any doubt the greatest flat racehorse I've ever seen. To say the horses he beat were no good is total rubbish, and if you ever look back at previous champions the horses they beat could be said to be the same! It's never been about the prowess of the horses champions beat because obviously the beaten horses were not as good as the champion of that era. It's about HOW the champions beat the available opposition and for three seasons Frankel didn't just beat the best on offer but totally annihilated them! I suggest you stop making a fool of yourself with such ignorant comments
Well said my friend never seen a horse destroy a field like the way he did he actually lifted the sport of horse racing and gave us the feel good feeling we will never see the likes of him again
@@patricksmith3432 I'm glad you agree Patrick. As you say, we will never see the likes of him again. That great horse lifted my spirits like none before. And that's saying something when I think of all the great horses I've been privileged to have seen in my life!
Mohaafeth . Frankle and sea of stars . Very clever breeding
It’s a disgrace and an insult to Sir Henry Cecil and to Frankel that Warren Place has bought and left to stand empty and to fall into disrepair.
I did not know but i agree this should not fall apart !
Yes, totally disgraceful.
Take note Baffert, Brown and the rest!
Frankel is the horse of the century, for at least until the 2022 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
So sad,his trainer & owner are not with us anymore.
Horse and jockey as 1 rip Henry Cecil
In The History of Today's Thoroughbred Breed - There was but ONE that produced the Champions, and is actually more responsible for the whole World's breed...
...Frankel's "TOP LINE" Sire and Mare!!!
Not wanted as a yearly, "Too Small To Race" they said. Yet a CHAMPION Racer, never finishing out of the money, Kentucky Derby Record Holder, and other race record holder...
...Northern Dancer in his 22 years of breeding, changed the conformation of the Thoroughbred. With his UNmatched even 30 years later (today) stud fees of HIS $1MILLION A SHOT ($2.4 MILLION TODAY) - with no guarantee
An without vicent o'Brien he woudnt of been that good he introduced him to Europe
Blown out of all proportion this race look at what was in it he had every right to win it by 15
He destroyed a 2 time Breeders Cup winner in his first attempt at the distance. What more do you want?
I don't think baeed would get past Frankel .
only if got on broad an aircraft
Video almost ruined by awful music. Can you delete please?
0:13 Mr Cecil, LOOKS LIKE THE UNDERTAKER!!!
have some respect
would have won arc and bc should have gone would have stayed
Not even in the same league at STS, and clearly slower on the clock. Overhyped
never won a race at mile and a half .never ran abroad ,never broke a track record and only won one classic in which he beat a field of donkeys in what was one of the worst2000 guineas ever , yet they say he was better than dancing brave , the brave would have beat him at a mile a mile and 2 and a mile and a half
I'm a big Dancing Brave fan also, but think times are irrelevant. Yes, Dancing Brave beat a better standard of opposition, but imo I think the fact that Frankel could sustain top speed from 3 furlongs out would have edged it over a mile. Dancing Brave could only hit top gear over 1.5 maybe pushing 2 furlongs at best. Over 10 & 12 furlongs I'd side with Dancing Brave. It's all about opinion though. People argue about Shergar. Shergar beat 1 of the poorest generation of horses in living memory, but is referred to as a super horse judged on his Derby winning distance. Was he really a legend. Imo, many more worthy horses than him. The arguments could go on forever.
@@joekilday3801 i agree that times are not really that relevant ,my point was though for all of frankels dominance and style of racing on good surfaces it was surprising no track records were recorded ,shergar was more of a story than any substance . and dancing braves declassification to 138 by phil smith and his cronies really annoyed me they should not have been allowed to do that if they thought frankel was better they should have raised him over 141 not dropped the brave .
Totally agree, the Brave was the best ever
It’s like comparing chalk to cheese. As they say “you can only beat what’s put in front of you” and like all sport it’s all about opinion but in Frankel’s case he captured the non racing public’s imagination. To win 14 out 14 in horse racing is undoubtedly unique whereas Dancing brave only ran 10 times winning 8 but rightly still regarded a superstar by those within the racing fraternity but not as such to the general public.Desert Orchid, Red Rum were regarded as nations favourites but suffered many defeats.
@@rayrichardson1082 Absolutely, and people always conveniently forget that Frankel was competitive in group one races at 2, 3 and 4 year old.
Hype
Overated beat average horses
And what do you expect him to beat? He beat half decent open, the best that were around at the time, who did the other so called Champions beat?
@@nightowl7459 champions beat other champions. See Dancing Brave for example.
He won probably the highest rated Arc in history 🤔 and in record time!
@@johndoe-qg7jp But Frankel beat a solid field in the International, I agree with you on Dancing Brave, he beat a very good field in the Arc.
Are you referring specifically to this race or his whole career?
@@elgransenor1472 Frankel's a good horse, maybe very good but enough of the hype.
Just look at Dancing Braves 2000 Guinness and see what Walter Swinburn said about the horse!
Go back thru the horses he beat and youll see there wasn't much quality.Seriously go have a really good, most never won a race after racing against him, they knew he was beatable thats why they retired him to keep his record and his rating points?well theyre suss as how he gained them against the crabs he raced
