This tutorial is amazing. I'm using it now on a project. Quick question, I think you're pressing a short cut to be able to search for your nodes. What is it?
hey man I love the video! thank you for that! I have big problems with the tracker as soon as the object to be tracked is behind something. The tracker then looks for a new, usually completely wrong point. As soon as I try to correct the tracker points manually, the points are completely distorted and the track path does what it wants. Do you know the problem & can you help me? 17:21 Greetings from Germany to everyone
Hey T2F, great video! A question however...I noticed that you did these originally on the videos in their RAW/LOG versions and the full screen preview before says "graded". How would we go about grading these without affecting the graphics within the image? What is the proper workflow to this? Thanks
Great question. Have you seen our fusion compositing masterclass? You can use the techniques in there (multiple media out nodes) to grade separately. Let us know if you still have questions.
It's up to you! The public beta is very stable. There's always an element of risk when using a beta. We've been using the public beta since it's release without any problems.
Wonderful tutorial, very clear and concise. Can this be done in the free version, I assume I would have had to draw the mask by hand on the hiker though.
@@team2films I ran into another problem. How do I limit the line and the text to just a small portion of the video, it continued after I wanted it to stop doing its thing.
Great video and very well put forward. I have clicked the link but it will not let me submit my email. Could you fix the continue button once email is entered? Thank you.
Really interesting tutorial. However I do have one question that was NOT mentioned in the Tutorial. May I ask how I would include Motion Graphics Plugins from companies like Motion VFX which I bought to replicate what you created by pointing to items on the person walking in the second clip?
That's a great question. I'm sure it's relatively easy to connect the expressions in the correct places... but it's difficult to answer properly without knowing more about the specific templates or plugins that you are using.
@@team2films Is there any way I can share this information with you without the reply getting blocked by the UA-cam Blocker Filter? I followed a simple quick Tutorial by Joris Hermans with a Fusion Compound Clip and a MotionVFX Plugin but for some reason when it came time to grade or publish it was obvious where the grades changes. If you have the time to spare I would be honoured if you took a look at my episode called "Blackpool Skyline and Bonney Street Police Station". It was my first ever attempt at making any kind of motion graphics follow anything. It only lasts a couple of minutes and you can see the colour grade subtly change as the graphics appear and disappear throughout the episode. For the tiny amount of views probably nobody will notice. But for me, it stick's out like a sore thumb and I don't have the skill or knowledge to solve this puzzle. As you can guess, this isn't my day job, its just a hobby to help me relax and unwind from my day job.
Hi There I was able to sort my mac mini out which allowed me to do this first tutorial. If I want to extend the the duration of the text "Hazard Awareness" how is that done. Cheers John
hey great video, but i only have one question, @ 3:43 you publish all points to intellitrack and they all get nodes, but i do the same thing but only get one intellitrack node. any thoughts on what im doing wrong?
Hi again to both of you. I have a fusion Q. I have a 20min timeline and around frame 15000 I want to work my clip in fusion. To save time I don't want to make new fusion clip. Just put the playhead on the clip and get to fusion tab. Then I want to make 5 more media in nodes (importing media from mediapool). The problem is that those new media nodes do not show in fusion so I have to fix Global in/out points. But if the new media is 30frames for example it is very difficult to drag the in/out points to where I want them to show. The only solution I have till now is to loop them and then trim the in/out points. I hope you understand the issue cause my English is not very good. Is there a way (except using new fusion clips or going back to time line) from the fusion tab to drag and drop a clip from media pool and have that clip shown in fusion? Keep up and thanks.
Thanks for the response. Glad you understand my problem. 😁I just tried it but other problems arise. I must not use full extents (in case I must change length) and other effects (retime) are lost. There is no way to work on Sub clips from the start of editing. So the best is loop (till now). I thought there was a way in fusion settings to change the duration of a clip so any secondary clip I bring from pool will be inside the frames I'm working of the first clip. Thanks for your time and have a nice day. Consider this for a future video. I think it will help others.
Thanks for the tutorial! I'm trying to follow along, but my Resolve is not behaving like yours and I don't understand why. During the rock tracking section, when I select the 4 points and click the publish dropdown menu, the only options are to publish points, publish to path, publish to XYpath, and publish to Tracker. If I click publish to tracker, it does indeed create a singular intellitrack point, but it only does so on the point where I closed the loop for the mask. I've repeated the process 4 times and it always results in a single tracker point. Any idea what's going on? I'm on Resolve 19 Build 25 Studio.
Hello, we're running a newer build of Studio 19 so I can't confirm whether it's in your build. Maybe it's only just been introduced. Try updating, and then please let us know if that fixes your problem.
@@team2films Yup, looks like it is only Beta 4 and later that works with this tutorial. Updated and will continue following along. Thanks again for your super comprehensive tutorials!
Is it possible to create some text template from Mister Horse Animation Composter in Adobe After Effect to DaVinci Resolve? Because the only reason I still use After Effect is just that text template.
Davince resolve STUDIO - Would love to hear this before I spend minutes in glacier pace video even while listening at x1,75.. not a nice way to atract clicks.. :-(
Hello, the video demonstrates both features for the free version and paid version of Resolve. It's possible to use the normal tracker to produce this effect too. Hope that helps.
@@KyleFilmsit’s not completely risk free, but we’ve been producing all our content on the beta since NAB. If you are in a Mac it’s easy to keep 18.6 installed. You can always backup your projects too. Just incase….
@@KyleFilmsnot a lot. Remember core features are stable. It’s the new features that will have bugs. Maybe you’ll get an odd crash…. But it’s very unlikely it will corrupt a project. And there’s always project backups if you have a problem. It’s really not that risky
Giday John here from Australia. Can't track the woman with the background. I am using Beta 19 build 43 running on a mac mini M1 chip, 512 GB with 75GB available and 16GB RAM. I have a Satechi Hub with an SSD enclosure using SATA drive 2TB with about 1TB available. I use this drive mainly for editing & assets stored. I do have other external SSDs for storage as well. I don't know if I have enough grunt in this Mac Mini to use fusion. Maybe I haven't set it up correctly for DR Studio. Appreciate comments please. Cheers John.
You M1 is more than capable of running simple fusion comps like this. Can you elaborate more on the problem you are having? It’s difficult to diagnose without knowing more about exactly when the problem is happening and what it looks like.
@@team2films It is very slow and I for whatever reason I cannot get the tracker the polygon/background to track together Intellitrack points are visible
@@sector9filmsHey! For some reason my Mac is having a hard time crunching through the footage as well. Typically the magic mask and tracking is very fast but in this case specifically I render at 3 seconds / frame. Very strange!
Good spot. There is a note at the bottoms of the final shots saying that they are colour graded. Hence the difference. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
I agree with Coffee Lover who says "What a shame that it's using a version of Davinci that doesn't even exist yet and doesn't have a release date... It's only useful for enthusiasts who aren't professionals and for UA-camrs... It has no use... A subject as cool as Motion Graphics but carried out in the "ghost 19" version - Zero usefulness!" Unfortunately he is correct
Hello. Thanks so much for watching and thanks too for commenting. We appreciate that not every video will be relevant to everyone. Here's some thoughts that you might find helpful. 1. In the video we offer alternative solutions for users who are not using Studio or version 19. 2. Based on previous year's release schedules, version 19 is likely to be out of BETA very soon. When that happens will it help address the issues of relevance you mentioned? There's a great deal of incredible 17, 18, 18.5 and 18.6 fusion motion graphics tutorials out there already. If you havn't already, please go watch @CaseyFaris he has some incredible tutorials, we highly recommend him. These version 19 tutorials that are being made will now be ready and continue to be useful when Resolve 19 is officially released. 3. We're not sure why you feel 19 is a 'ghost version' or 'doesn't even exist'. In software release cycles, a beta is a well developed and tested and closely resembles the final release. As a result many high-end professionals are already using version 19. Others might prefer not to, but that doesn't alter the fact that many are. In many respects, Blackmagic's Resolve betas are more stable than some company's official releases. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. We look forward to hearing your thoughts.
@@team2films I give up... You can't understand the point of view and you're hitting on the same thing that doesn't make sense or reason. Good luck to you on the channel!
@@team2films And just so you can learn about the world of software... Fusion… Or as my friends and I like to call it…ConFusion … It’s so overly complicated. Doing all this in after effects is so so so much easier. Maybe not tracking, but everything else.
Thank-you for watching. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts too. We use After Effects too. There are some clear advantages to both programs. But After Effects is not as simple as people think. If you’re used to driving on the left, driving on the right will be counter intuitive. If you are used to AE, yeah Fusion will seem confusing. Fusion simplifies so many things that are complex in AE. Yes there are some operations that are more complex too. But there might not be a clear cut winner? We’d love to see someone make an After Effects tutorial that recreates the graphic we created. The files are available, it would be great to have direct comparison. Thanks for watching. It’s great to have you here.
any node based workflow is going to be confusing for a layered trained person. its not Fusion, its nodes that confuse your friends. Fusion is a compositor not a graphics package. Many people choose it though because it's free and you dont have to be under adobes indentured servitude program. especially their latest effort to steal your private work. no thanks.
I've been seeing you for more than a year complaining about how hard it is to use fusion on videos related to Fusion. If only you would've spent that time learning Fusion, then none of us would've been here. Also, if you think Fusion is overcomplicated, and it takes more time than AE, then why are you watching so many Fusion tutorials? Bro there are many reasons why all pro VFX is done with nodes and not layers like AE. Only time doing something is easier in AE is when you are doing very basic simple mograph stuff but anytime things gets complex it becomes borderline impossible to work in AE and iterate where it's a breeze in Fusion, Nuke etc. and this is why every big time Hollywood compositing is done with nodes, not layers like AE.

Overall amazing job I enjoyed following along.
You realize I am going to have to watch this video multiple times to digest all the information you put out, right?
Well done!

Great stuff. Amazing insights

Wow! How!?
Great tutorial guys. However, when it's done, how could I color bypass these fusion graphics? Thks
Hey! Do you mean colour grade the graphics and footage separately? If so have you seen our compositing masterclass?
Great job!
Thanks for providing this tutorial I am interested in the DaVinci Resolve for Editor course. where do I source this course. Cheers John

Hi!! Thank you for this video!! I really enjoy to watch your fusion lessons!! I also wanna buy a new keyboard for editing... What keyboard do you use?
Thanks so much! We're using two different keyboards. The official DaVinci Editor's keyboard, and in this video we are using the Editors Keys Illuminated USB keyboard. Thanks for watching and commenting.
This tutorial is amazing. I'm using it now on a project. Quick question, I think you're pressing a short cut to be able to search for your nodes. What is it?
Glad to hear. Shift+Spacebar is the hotkey you are looking for. Thanks for watching.
@@team2films Amazing. Thanks
hey man I love the video! thank you for that!
I have big problems with the tracker as soon as the object to be tracked is behind something. The tracker then looks for a new, usually completely wrong point. As soon as I try to correct the tracker points manually, the points are completely distorted and the track path does what it wants. Do you know the problem & can you help me?

Greetings from Germany to everyone
Hey T2F, great video! A question however...I noticed that you did these originally on the videos in their RAW/LOG versions and the full screen preview before says "graded". How would we go about grading these without affecting the graphics within the image? What is the proper workflow to this? Thanks
Great question. Have you seen our fusion compositing masterclass? You can use the techniques in there (multiple media out nodes) to grade separately. Let us know if you still have questions.
@@team2films Thanks for the reply! I just found the video and will give it a go. Thanks for the tutorials!

I'm not using version 19 public beta. Should I download it? I own the Studio dongle.
It's up to you! The public beta is very stable. There's always an element of risk when using a beta. We've been using the public beta since it's release without any problems.
Does Fusion have lights and particles and 3d space?
Yes, yes and yes!
Excellent! I think I‘m sold for DaVinci Studio.
Wonderful tutorial, very clear and concise. Can this be done in the free version, I assume I would have had to draw the mask by hand on the hiker though.
You can do this in the free version but you will have to use the regular point tracker instead of intellitrack. Thanks for watching
@@team2films I ran into another problem. How do I limit the line and the text to just a small portion of the video, it continued after I wanted it to stop doing its thing.
@@TrogARTyou can change the track length in the keyframe editor or you can fade it out by animating the blend property in the merge node

Very good, Thank you
Really interesting tutorial.
Muito bom, me ajudou muito!

do we know when version 19 is coming out. I don't the beta version, when will rev 19 be released.
Not sure when the official release lands. Last year 18.5 came out around the end of July. The beta is pretty stable if you feel like giving it a try!
Hey, Would you suggest windows or Mac for the professional DaVinci?
Either. Great movies are created on both Mac and Windows. It doesn't make a difference.

Hi There I was able to sort my mac mini out which allowed me to do this first tutorial. If I want to extend the the duration of the text "Hazard Awareness" how is that done. Cheers

Check the length of the node in the keyframe panel. Hope that makes sense
hey great video, but i only have one question, @ 3:43 you publish all points to intellitrack and they all get nodes, but i do the same thing but only get one intellitrack node. any thoughts on what im doing wrong?
Thanks so much. Have you selected all the points before publishing them?
Good question. Would sub clipping the clip first help? Then you can set the I and O using the source viewer in the media page.

Yes, it’s possible to create templates for Fusion. There’s already lots of amazing fusion templates out there
why not?
why do some media pools while importing in fusion shows black screen?
What exactly do you mean?
my publish points has only the "tracker" disponible, maybe my davinci is not that up to date
Intellitrack is only available in v19 studio. Not free
Wait! Is the version 19 out for public? Not in beta anymore?!
19 is still in beta. But the beta is really stable. Lots of people are using it in production.
@team2films thank you so much. I about to get my hands on the new micro panel but fear of beta. I'm glad to hear your information
@@KyleFilmsit’s not completely risk free, but we’ve been producing all our content on the beta since NAB. If you are in a Mac it’s easy to keep 18.6 installed. You can always backup your projects too. Just incase….
@team2films oh crap.... I'm on Windows, and may I ask what will be a major risk when update to version 19?
@@KyleFilmsnot a lot. Remember core features are stable. It’s the new features that will have bugs. Maybe you’ll get an odd crash…. But it’s very unlikely it will corrupt a project. And there’s always project backups if you have a problem.
It’s really not that risky
What is a magis "mosque?" Is he trying to say Mask?
Grow up.
@@team2films Can I send you a screenshot, would that help?
@@sector9filmsHey! For some reason my Mac is having a hard time crunching through the footage as well. Typically the magic mask and tracking is very fast but in this case specifically I render at 3 seconds / frame. Very strange!
Weird how your dark red ended up looking luminous orange.
A subject as cool as Motion Graphics but carried out in the "ghost 19" version - Zero usefulness!"
Unfortunately he is correct
It's your channel, do as you wish... just as everyone is free to subscribe or not to the channel, to say good or bad things about the channel on UA-cam, on social media and so on.
Freedom goes both ways.
Good things for you, this arrogance ends up causing harm in the professional market, especially when it is spoken by great professionals in the market like Coffee Lover for example.
Good luck to you on the channel!
@@team2films And just so you can learn about the world of software... It's only worth starting testing when the product enters a version called "release candidate", then it's almost ready to enter the market and not beta versions... Professionals don't care about beta versions, only the ones you know, lol

You cut off Coffee Lover's ability to comment... His comments no longer go to your channel...
