“How do you look at the front of the school the same way…” This reminds me of my own school, which once had murals that were started by an art student… they were only partially completed because they had been killed in a car accident and they were never finished. They became in their own way an improvised memorial to them. Every day, walking by them was equal parts chilling and sobering, a reminder of an unfinished life.
This game is so good at making complex characters. Nathan does horrible violent and predatory things, but he's surrounded by family who enable him. David is paranoid and controlling, but it comes from a misplaced desire to protect. Chloe is Max's best friend and does have great moments with her, but also does things Max complains about in her journal, like scaring her even after she's had a stressful day. Taylor and Victoria are awful to Kate, but clearly didn't realize what effect their words were having and felt remorse once they saw how bad things got. Characters are complicated and self-contradicting and hypocritical, just like people are in real life, and there are things to both like and hate about most of them.
Well my friends, this is where things start to take a different turn, a direction that will certainly be full of emotions of the most diverse types, so prepare your emotions and some tissues, because you are going to need them. Looking forward to seeing your next reactions to these events Kali, thanks for another great video, your attention to small details and how immersed you are in this story and characters is always wonderful to see

I don't think stealing money for Chloe is a good choice. Many people are going to need that fund, but we are being selfish just for Chloe. As Chloe said, she is a bad influence to Max. She abused Max's power knowing her condition from using it. Max fainted twice, one in the junk yard and one near the light house. We took the extra attention from Frank by trying to shoot him. The fact that she always mention Rachel to Max when they have a good time make me feel like Chloe is trying to turn Max into Rachel #2.
Hello. I just found your channel. I'm a HUGE LiS fan. And most of the time I can't stand watching people play through it as they skip everything and try to rush through. I am LOVING your playthrough. You're fantastic at verbalizing your inner monologue, and your thoughts and experiences as you go through are a joy to watch. So thanks for sharing this. Please continue reading the journal and all the notes and trying to "do everything." It doesn't matter how many predictions you get correct, it matters how much you engage with the content. And I especially enjoy the pieces of your own life experiences you share when you find something in the game you relate to. Keep up the great work!

This has been such a phenomenal play through to watch! This is my comfort game and I have definitely watched the full game at least 50 times in full from various UA-camrs over the years, so please know that I mean a lot when I say what a great job you're doing. You're so thorough, you catch-on to storylines big or small, and you vocally theorize about your own thoughts. I've been enjoying watching you play this so so much ☺
Regarding stopping in the middle of an episode: knowing how long the game took me to play and how long you normally make your episodes, I was figuring 2, or even 3, episodes per episode. I would've been very surprised if you did just one episode per episode. You are also always really good about finding a good stopping point at about the right time - its always at a nice lull in the story where there is some natural downtime.
It's funny because looking at the google definition of how many hours each episode takes I thought to myself "Oh cool! One episode for each episode on UA-cam will work out perfectly!" Then I quickly realized that... I'm so slow in games and this was not a reasonable expectation LOL. I'm honestly loving the pace so far though! This game is very easy to live inside (even if it's brutal sometimes lol)
@@kaliwali I'm glad you're not speedrunning the game. So many letsplayers skip half the game and then complain about stuff they themself got them into. It should be on your to be played list if it's not already. Loving this game - first time I've watched you play a game that I haven't played first.

Twee is chiefly British word, it’s likely they’re probably using the meaning of overly sentimental. It used to be a compliment, but now it’s somewhat a kind of an insult, like a backhanded compliment. It’s kind of weird seeing this pop up in an American game, but one could chalk it up to the idea that these kids are creative types who are probably adopting phrases they’ve read in books and movies. Or perhaps because the writer’s are English majors, but sometimes it makes for some writing that doesn’t quite fit the minds of American teenagers, which is sort of how I feel about Diablo Cody’s writing, like the film Juno. Which is good, and it’s witty and I appreciate it, but it somewhat doesn’t always feel authentic.
I love the life is strange series. If you like this game then you'll love Before the Storm and True Colors. Life is strange 2 is also good but is quite a bit different with different characters all together. But Id love to watch you play Before the Storm and True Colors :3 That would be amazing :DDD

1:36:48 - Sorry, I forgot to point out an easy-to-miss tiny detail. If you look at the bottom line of the "Student Transfer Information" portion of Max's record (as seen at this time stamp in your vid), you can see that she was on an IEP. That stands for "Individualized Education Plan." That's only available to students in the United States who qualify as having a disability. Many fans, myself included, theorize that Max is most likely autistic. That would explain her muted affect, her need to have "time outs" to let her physiology return to baseline, her special interests, and possibly even her preference to "hide behind the camera." Though she may also have the non-hyper version of ADHD, too. On a side note, personally, I think Chloe has Borderline Personality Disorder ("BPD"). She has a very difficult time returning to baseline. Doesn't emotionally get past "slights" that people make at her expense, real or perceived (like her blaming her dad for dying ). And she has very unstable interpersonal relationships. And humorously, a lot of people with BPD end up "latching on" to people with autism.
Hiya Kali! 27:13 I just realized that this year, all the days in October this year matches the date in game (10-10-13 is Thursday in game and Thursday this year) 👀🌪️🦋
Several years ago, I had an experience on a group discord call where I had to talk someone down from possibly doing something very bad, and I have to say it is crazy how accurately Max’s journal captured the feelings you have both during and after…. It’s a situation where you’re not doing it for personal gain or anything else other than you… have to… yet you still get showered with praise and gratitude afterward. Still one of the strangest and most surreal feelings I’ve had that lasted for days after. A sort of ice-cold warmth inside you with a completely empty sense of fulfillment. I hadn’t given it much thought for a while until reading that section in the journal Also, same with what Max said about you know you’re really going through it when you don’t care about music. I think we’ve all had those drives when you can’t be bothered to turn on the radio. This game is very good at highlighting feelings that we all can experience on the day to day To end on a positive, the new chair looks really good! The light filtering in through the mesh makes it seem more invisible with your background. Whether the new chair was by choice, or by necessity with your old one being half broken hahaha. Also, I feel we need a “kaliWhat” emote made out of your reaction to Zach’s text with Victoria 🤣🤣
Chloe: let’s sneak outta here real quiet like Also Chloe: let’s be as loud as possible as we’re driving away in my truck with an exhaust system so messed up that it can be heard for miles
This part of the game is a nice breather before crap hits the fan hehehe I honestly get what you mean when you talk about having mixed feelings about Nathan and Victoria, and yes, the game does try to make you question whether your negativity towards them is truly deserved, but when I was playing through this game my answer was always a resounding "yes". No matter how hard things are for you and what you're going through, there's no excuse for treating people the way they do. I can understand why they do what they do, but definitely not sympathize.
Very good points! Feeling sad for someone's circumstances but not justifying their actions should have it's own special word because I feel like it fits MANY personality types. It's not hard to be kind to other people even when you can't be kind to yourself, but unfortunately not a lot of people reach this point of empathy.

@@gorororongggg don't listen to people like him dude. People who put down others for enjoying what they don't like are the worst. Just enjoy what you enjoy it's all cool.
your comment about looking at the dorms the same way again, after what happened to kate... the boarding school I went to has these two big green doors. I remember one evening, hearing yelling and crying while I was in my room. I ran outside and into the main building down the hall towards those doors. my friends and classmates crying and hugging, frantically running around. an ambulance and a police car visible through the glass of the doors, the lights swirling and blinking. I asked what had happened and a friend told me that his friend had attempted suicide. all the blood just drained from my face. she had asked around for painkillers because she had a "headache"... it was so surreal, felt like a movie.
ugh, I know this feeling and I'm sorry you've felt it. that experience when something truly intense and emotional is happening and you feel like it's almost an out of body experience. I can look back on a few events that have happened to and around me and feel as if it just happened yesterday because the image is so intensely burned into my brain.
Glad you're noticing some subtle small details. Certain dialogue choices and outcomes almost require multiple playthroughs. For example, I didn't save kate, and Max was a bit more rude to Chloe this episode. 56:16 nice reaction kali
If I remember correctly Brooke wasn’t watching the video so much as she was standing next to Juliet while she was watching it. I think she was even expressing doubts about if they should be watching it
I could be wrong, but I remember them both watching it on their phones. And only after Max saying something, they were expressing doubts about whether they should watch it.
I don't know why you assume a surveillance camera system would be in the showers or dorm rooms, I took the idea of cameras in the dorms to mean in the hallways, entrance/exits, any common areas, etc.... you know, like how they do in real places like college dorms, hotels, etc? I'm sure plans for where the cameras would be placed would have to be reviewed and agreed upon by other faculty besides David, and I don't see how he would get away with setting up anything outside the plan without being noticed unless he did it outside of school hours when nobody was around. But if he wanted to do that, he probably already would have.
I'm not sure why I took it to mean Dorms as in bedrooms too and shower rooms as well. I think it was the way Ms. Grant emphasized the locations. She made me believe it was in private areas. And after looking at David's own home footage with it in their bedroom... I guess I just kept it in my brain lol
"It's chloe's decision", just like in mass effect XD. But being a friend is not just allowing them to harm themselves because it's their decision. Chloe is waiting for your advice. You take a rol. If she takes the money and you allow it, or even encourage it, you are as much a thief as she is. And after doing it, you know that she has become the kind of person that steals money from handicapped people to pay for her drug habits. That's effectively what she becomes. I just don't think she is so much in risk. If she were, she would tell her mother and they would do something about it. She isn't there for now, and she knows why.
I barely remember this episode, or this part of the episode at least. It's just teenage stuff, just about Chloe and Max bonding together. Filler. Important filler, but filler anyway.

your comment about looking at the dorms the same way again, after what happened to kate...
the boarding school I went to has these two big green doors.
@@Riddler0603 I might be misremembering but I’d swear that Brooke wasn’t really watching. Huh. Guess I’ll have to play again and really pay attention
"I feel like I should let her take the money"
Me: "OH NO!"
*everybody around looks in my direction
Me: "Sorry."
