for context, the whole "my boyfriend told me this is a love story" is because Deadpool came out the week of Valentine's. That's how much Fox didn't believe in the movie. It dumped an R-rated film in the middle of romance movies. So the marketing of this movie went along with it and marketed this as a love story. They did the same thing for the sequel (marketing it as a family film).

@@kaliwali Hey, do whatever you want right? Besides, it's not like you needed the primer to understand the plot development or to grasp the general concept of the setting (these things are all implied clearly or outright explained). This is the first story of the Deadpool saga after all, it's not like you've started with the second one or something. And honestly the fact that this movie even takes place in the X-men/Marvel cinematic universe is more of a side-bar than anything - and this film only even spoils a couple relatively superficial x-men details other than the "Logan" one.

Good job picking up on the running joke of Deadpool asking where Francis was and not Ajax, most people never realized that. Also, they didn't have a huge budget which, as such they couldn't go all in on the gun action, hence he kept "forgetting his gun/ammo bag". Ryan Reynolds is a massive Deadpool fan, and he fought tooth and nail to get this movie made and to be true the comic book character, which he completely nailed it.

This movie still having new fans falling in love with it and enjoying it 8 years later is my favorite thing about it. and if no one told you one of Deadpool's powers, is he knows he is a comic book character or in this case in a movie and knows he is in one that's partly why he breaks the 4th wall so much and is meta. his powers aren't just regeneration, but he is basically immortal and can't die in the comics is from a curse in this idk. why he said Canada is both Deadpool/Wade WIlson and Ryan Reynolds are both Candian. the bar was full of people with guns because it says that the bar is for mercenaries so of course they all have guns. Negasonics power is basically she can create Atomic blasts.

  • @M1_Maz

This movie is so unserious for 85% of it, and then very serious for the remaining 15%, and that juxtaposition I think is what makes this such a memorable time haha. Don't have to think too hard, nothing too crazy, just a good ol' 90 minute roller coaster ride. I tend to get put off by a lot of humor in films, which is why comedies are so hit-or-miss for me usually, but this one I really really enjoyed. I went and saw this in theaters in college with a bunch of my friends, and between the fourth wall breaks, and just the content of this film in general, it was a really great experience!
Also, the song choice in the intro is gold 🤣 It's awesome to see that your personality, and whole vibe and style of reactions lends itself so well to both comedies and the serious films you've watched before. Deadpool first appeared in The New Mutants #98 (1990), created by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza. The New Mutants comics for context featured teenage mutants associated with the X-Men, focusing on coming-of-age stories and '80s-style teenage drama. By the early '90s, the team came under the leadership of Cable, who had a bounty placed on his head, leading to Deadpool's debut as a bounty hunter in The New Mutants #98. Negasonic Teenage Warhead is the perfect example, even though she's not a New Mutant the version we see in this film is VERY New Mutants inspired, even down to her yellow and black outfit.
On a final note, if you're looking to get into the X-Men, I'd recommend checking out X-Men '97 (2024). It’s a follow-up to the original X-Men: The Animated Series (1992-1997), but you don’t need to have watched all five seasons to enjoy it. The show is designed to be accessible for newcomers, while still including plenty of nods and references for fans of the original. Most viewers of X-Men '97 are like yourself. People who haven’t seen the original series. You can jump right in and enjoy it without any hassle, though I'd maybe recommend at least checking out the first few X-Men films for basic knowledge.
The original X-Men: The Animated Series is very much a product of its time and hasn't aged as well compared to other '90s shows like Batman: The Animated Series. It would be a bit of a hassle to recommend someone watch five seasons of a dated show when they could just dive into X-Men '97, which is superior in every aspect. X-Men '97 isn’t held back by the same censorship restrictions of the '90s, allowing for a more modern, mature take on the characters and stories. It's also just 10 episodes, ranging from 30 to 40 minutes.

From what I know from the comics ,DP's healing is so different from Logan's. Sure ,They both heal in fast rates. But here's the thing : Wolverine's regeneration replaces dead cells with living cells. Wade's actually replace them with more dead cells. So that's why He's called DEADpool and why his skin is burned -like. Basically he's like a zombie without decaying or loss of consiousness. He's like Dead ,but not dying ,just stuck in between.

Losing each other while neither of them could stop it. That's twice as much pain he'd have to endure. I think he genuinely thought it was the best thing for her. Men do tend to feel protective over women. Even if you thought she didn't mind taking care of him, she's not the one dying. What about what he wants? Maybe he doesn't want to be taken care of. My thought process would've been either it fails, I die and she can move on or it works and I go back to her and we have a future. This outcome is rather unexpected.

Deadpool 2 is definitively worth checking out, it's the rare sequel that lots of people think is better than the first one. The after credit scene was a reference to "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" which you should check out, it's a classic teen comedy but it's not what most people think of when they think teen comedy, I haven't checked but it's probably rated G. If it's PG then it's because someone really conservative was at the rating office that day.

(For reference, check out the cover of Uncanny X-men 191.) In most of the movies, his actors did a good job, but the metal version of him always looked like liquid metal. One of the 2 is a very large man very strong and quite sturdy in all the battles very hard to kill. The soap was named after him because he was called strongest in Greece and soap was advertised as "stronger than grease". Obviously Francis named himself after the hero, not the soap.

Both mercs, Deadpool deathstroke (think swimming), deathstrokes real name is slade wilson, and deadpools is wade wilson. Both marvel and dc have been stealing ideas from who knows how long ago. That's why I think he's so awesome.

Yeah DP2 is decent, DP3 as well. But they're made to entertain, not to stir up some deeper thoughts. Not that there's anything wrong with that, it is what it is.

Im so glad youre reacting to movies now too! Because I feel a little awkward watching gameplays of games I don't know, I dont feel as engaged watching, but I do love your channel and your videos. ❤️ So movies make it easier to follow.
Also to those peoeple saying youre missing out because you didnt watch 765 movies before this onde, I disagree. this movie is a great standalone. :) one thing i find disheartening about marvel lately is that it feels that we need to do homework, watch a hundred movies, ten tv shows, 90 extra scenes to understand the story, and that is tiering. So enjoy deadpool the way you want. :)
Now about deadpool 2, its definitely the weaker one in my opinion. And i didnt enjoy the humor as much, to be honest.

I feel like you're reading my mind right now because I've been sweating over watching this one before the others lol. But it did kickstart my interest in Marvel movies now! I think this was an awesome standalone comedy movie and I enjoyed it a ton! There weren't too many references/inside jokes that I didn't get by not watching the previous films. But I'm actually excited to start my adventure through them next!
Thank you for the comment and making my anxiety calm down LOL

I know this is probably unrealistic but would you be willing to react to the rest of the Fox Xmen movies before watching another Deadpool movie if you plan to? Deadpool as a character and in the film is lifted so much by having the context of the other movies.

Congrats on 20k. I have really been enjoying your reactions and look forward to your Patreon when you get it started.
I do have one suggestion, you really should watch the X-Men movies before watching Deadpool 2. There are so many easter eggs and call backs that refer back to those movies. Can you watch Deadpool 2 without seeing those other movies? Yes. But you will miss out on so many jokes and references. Either way, I am subscribing and hope to see you on Patreon soon.

I do highly recommend watching Deadpool 2 ( and 3 ), but it is probably a good idea to watch the X Men movies and The Green Lantern to catch many of the joke references, as Ryan played characters in these. Which he makes many jokes about. Since you are enjoying you're RDR2 experience, may I suggest a television series called Yellowstone ( with Kevin Costner ). The show has done so good that is has two spin off series, 1883 and 1923 which are prequels to the Yellowstone series. All are very good with great stories, scenery and actors/actresses, just like RDR2.

The Deadpool movies famously have a lot of not just X-Men references but also other movie references and insider info on the making of/reception of certain movies as well.
For example the end credits of this movie is a reference to the end credits of Ferris Bueller's Day Off where Matthew Broderick comes out in a robe and asks the audience what they're still doing there.
And the joke, "Don't make the super suit green or animated", was a reference to Ryan Reynolds playing Green lantern (another superhero). Green lantern was famously a bad movie and did did poorly critically and financially. In the movie. Ryan Reynolds has a CGI green suit which many fans(including Ryan) didn't like since it looked pretty bad.
